[solved]Mobile version of the forum

After doing a quick search (sorry if this have been requested already), I didn't find a thread regarding that.
I think it would be awesome to have a mobile version of the forum similar to this one

  • Mobile version of the forum now available!

I am happy to tell you that we have just launched a mobile-friendly version of this forum!
It works automatically by detecting your device and browser, so just visit www.nokia.com/discussions (or any local Nokia site's forum url) on your phone, and you should get this lighter and faster version.
You can use all main forum functionalities: register and login, browse all topics, start new ones and reply. You can create your own mobile signature that's only shown to other mobile users.
This is our first version and we haven't tested it with every Nokia model, so please tell us what you think - do you like it, is something not working, what would you like to see added in the future..?
EDIT - Seems like we just found our first bug - for some odd reason some of the text was displayed white on a white background, so some of the posts were unreadable.
We're working on this, and I've just switched off the mobile view for a while.
I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

i've also tested the mobile version of the site on my N82.. it seems nice but when i login, it directs me for a little to the full version of the site and then automatically to the mobile version.
We've noticed the same - it seems that the Nokia site's header is loaded before the browser is detected and the mobile version is switched on. I hope we can do something about this.

  • Mobile Friendly Version of the Forum?

Neil has already mentioned the script that appears to be slowing things down on the BBA phones... perhaps we could actually have a mobile friendly version of the forum?  I tried replying to a thread using my phone it was a complete nightmare and ultimately failed.
    Cheers

Is the problem restricted to BT phones?
I'd think it's more to do with the OS and browser, rather than who provides the phone

Aside from the horrible black bar, the site is pretty fast with iPhone - just too much clutter around the page to make it an enjoyable experience.
Aside from the clutter, just downloading the front page community.bt.com fetches almost 1MB of data !!!

I have a slideshow I made in iPhoto and it is showing in iTunes movies but when I select it and click 'sync' it does not load into my phone. • Does anyone know if the T-MOBILE version of the iPhone 5 will be sold in apple stores?

I don't mean the factory unlocked a1428 version that'll be sold by apple at retail price. I mean the t-mobile version that'll be locked to t-mobile only as an you'll put down the $99 and pay the $20 EIP. Will apple sell the tmo iPhone 5 just like they do for Verizon AT&T and Sprint? The reason I ask is because it would be much more convenient for me to pick it up from Apple than to sign up with t-mobile and wait for it to arrive in the mail for god knows how long.

I forgot to mention that I want the 64GB version which T-Mobile wont carry in its retail stores initially. So my only choice to get it fast and in person would be to get it from an Aple store. I know the A1428 model is being phased out for the newer model with AWS Bands but that doesn't concern me since I'm not looking to buy it unlocked. I want to order it at apple.com pay the $299 down payment and pick it up from my local apple retail store. Can I do that? I'm being very skeptical about this because it is T-Mobile and the iPhone after all, it's still hard to believe that T-Mobile actually got the iPhone.

  • I have Firefox 7.0.1 install on my laptop running Windows Vista. When visiting some website, the program automatically default to a mobile version of the website rather than the full website. How can I stop this from happening?

    No additional information is available

Changing versions often does not cure problems, but it does increase risks.
    * ( Do Not ) [[Install an older version of Firefox]]
The search options will not be changed by downgrading, but there is a method of changing that without downgrading.
    * See Ed's [/questions/1044599#answer-685295]
I am not sure the changes in Firefox 35.0.1 would cause your audio issues
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/35.0.1/releasenotes/
The first step in troubleshooting that may be to identify the tab or page involved, then try Firefox with only the newtab page and the problem page open.
IIRC Firefox is intended to continue streaming audio even if a tab does not have focus. That enables users to stream audio in the background whilst browsing. What you hear may be intended behaviour.

  • Verizon, fix the forum/site ASAP!

I can't find a category for users to post about the site and forum.  The forum is a mess and hardest to navigate.  Want to access thru ph?  We can't!  I got to use the comp to access and use more easily.  When I login into the site thru my ph, its fine, then I go to the forum...it is asking me to login again.  Hullo?  I already did!  And when I try to login again, it won't let me...not now, not ever.  But it let me on the comp.  And there is no option to allow us (we have the rights) to view everything on Verizon with desktop style rather than mobile style.  No option!  Even when the browser setting try to force the desktop display, we are denied our rights to view desktop display.  So, yeah, please fix the login and display issues.

Well you posted this thread in the My Verizon space. There is a Suggestions for this Community sub-space under the All Things Community space. The Suggestions for this Community is where user should post questions or concerns about the community forum.
I'm going typing this on my phone in the desktop version of the site. I also can access the community through the mobile version of the forum.

  • Mac Safari open website in mobile version sometimes, such as GoogleTranslate. How to solve it

Sometimes Mac Safari open website in mobile version, such as GoogleTranslate. How to solve it?
I use iPhone and iPad as well, but I never open google translate page using safari both on iPhone and iPad. Just use the GoogleTranslate App sometimes.
Why does my Mac Safari open google translate page in mobile version for no reason?

If you use iCloud to synchronize Safari with a mobile device, you may be opening a bookmark to the mobile version of the site. Another possibility is that you're getting a Handoff activity from the device.
Remove everything from the URL except the domain name and try again. For instance, if the URL is something like this:
    http://www.example.com/mobile
    or
    http://mobile.example.com
    change it to this:
    http://www.example.com

  • Mobile version of forum?

Guys, is there a mobile version of this forum?
Everytime i try to load this forum from my phone, it takes forever.  I could click on topics and stuff but the page just loads endlessly.

A mobile version of this forum is planned. I've heard that it should be ready around April some time, but I don't have an exact date.

  • Mobile version of website is too small on the smart phone...

I have made a computer and a mobile version of the site www.talerskolen.dk. Muse shows the mobile version on the mobile device but the size is wrong. Used the default 380 px mobile setup - and looks ok when previewed but not when viewed on the phone?

There are some add-ons that can be used to change the zoom level on all sites, for example:
    * NoSquint - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint
    * Default FullZoom Level - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level

  • [SOLVED] Loading mobile version by default with Qupzilla

Is there a way to load the mobile version of all websites by default with Qupzilla?
I can achieve this manually when the mobile version of the website resides in m.webaddress.something, but there are some sites that do not use separate addresses for mobile versions.
I think this is related to setting the browser agent, but in Qupzilla I only see agents for Desktop browsers.
Any hint? Are there other browsers with this feature?

    Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A538b Safari/419.3
Can you make your own user agent? The one above will get you mobile pages.

  • Displaying the mobile version in IE 8 RWD

I have created a fluid grid layout site but for some reason it is only displaying the mobile version of the site in desktop view in IE 8 and below.
It is working in IE 9 and Chrome as expected.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?
The first site I built is responding fine in IE 8 and below...

respond.js is 404 not found on server.  Currently, you have it pointing to your localhost / testing server folder.
    <script src="http://localhost/Fluid/respond.min.js"></script>
Try changing the path to this:
    <script src="respond.min.js"></script>

  • Mobile version of community

    Hi Everyone
I am pleased to announce that based on the feedback we got from community members we have decided to reinstate the mobile version of the community.  So you can now access the forums on the move again!
It is important to remember that the mobile version does not provide all the forums’ features and functionality, but it is a scaled- down mobile-optimised version.  This will allow you to access the community and perform key tasks on the move, such as reading, creating and replying to posts.
See below for our Frequently Asked Questions about the mobile version of the community.
    Thx
    Kerry
Frequently Asked Questions for accessing the community on a mobile device:
How do I access the community on my mobile device?
You should use the same URL you use to access the main community – www.bt.com/community
What devices can I use to access the community?
You can use any mobile device to access the community, but the user experience is optimised on devices which use a WebKit browser, including AppleWebKit for iPhone and Android, S60 Webkit for Nokia, and  IE Mobile for HTC.  To optimise the mobile experience on Blackberry and other devices, Opera Mini can be downloaded, which will enhance the way the community looks on your device. Further details on device compatibility and suggested browsers is included at the end of this FAQ message.
What tasks can I complete on the mobile version?
The mobile version is intended to keep you up to date with the community when you are on the move.  This means that key functionality is available, but you cannot perform all functions that are available on the main site.  Key tasks you can complete are as follows:
    Sign in/out of community
    View boards, threads, and  messages
    Create new thread
    Reply to existing threads
    Mark messages as read/unread
    Give ratings
    Send and receive private messages
    Search the community
Follow other members (add to friends); See who is following you
    Change certain mobile settings:
    Turn on/off private messages
Subscribe to topics I post to
    Create a mobile specific signature
    View your profile
    View existing bookmarks
Link back to main bt.com site and Help site
Why can’t I do everything on the mobile version as I would on the desktop version?
The mobile version is intended for ‘on the move’, easy access to key functionality of the community.  Access on a mobile device needs to be quick to load and easy to read on small screens, so we have removed some of the extra features and functionality you normally see on the main site in order to achieve this.  For example, the modules you see on the right hand side of the main site such as ‘top rated posts’ are not available on the mobile version as there is not enough space on the screen.
How does it work?  If I post on the mobile version will it update on the main site?
Yes – the mobile version links directly into the main community site so any posts, replies, and PMs that you send will automatically be updated on the main site.
Do you plan to add any more functionality to the mobile version in future?
There are no immediate plans to add any further functionality than what exists in the current version.  However, we are always looking to make improvements to any services we offer so if you have specific feedback on additional functionality you would like to see on the mobile version, please send me a PM.
What should I do if I have any problems using the mobile version?
If you have any problems using the mobile version we would recommend posting your query in the Forum Guidance and Ideas board when you’re with your PC so other members can give support and advice.  The moderator team can also respond here if needed.
    How secure is my data?
User details are stored securely and encrypted in the community system.  The mobile version of the community is subject to the same tests as the rest of the community site and was implemented using the same security best practices.  Members are reminded that they can control what profile information is viewable by others via their user settings.
    Device compatibility chart
This table shows which device and browser combinations are supported and provide the best mobile experience:
    Device
     Browser required
    iPhone
    Apple WebKit
    Android
    Apple WebKit
    Nokia
    S60 WebKit
    HTC
    IE Mobile
If you have other mobile device/browser combinations we suggest that you download Opera mini as your browser to get the best mobile experience of the forums.
