[SOLVED] Monitor out of frequency while installing

Past week I completed my first Arch Linux install in a laptop and everything works flawlessly, so I decided to install it also in my desktop computer. I boot from the CD, choose "Boot Arch Linux" option, some boot messages appear, some services start, and before udev service shows the [DONE] status, my monitor goes out of frequency and I can't see anything.
My monitor is a LG Flatron F900P (CRT with a max resolution of 1600x1200). Why is installation not working? Is there a way to force a working video mode during boot?

Have you tried out any of these tips?
What video card do you have?
Can't check this atm, but isn't it possible to select a screen resolution while booting the CD?

My Macbook Pro accidentally ran out of battery while installing OS X Yosemite. When I turn it on something loads on the bottom of the apple logo and then it takes me to a white screen with a circle and dash through the middle and it wont do anything from there. Help!

The first rule of installation is connect the AC charger!

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Dual Monitor Out of Frequency

I am reposting this from another area to see if get a response here.
I have a G5 Dual 1.8 machine with a GeForce FX 5200 DVI-VGA and ADC-VGA adapters. It drives to 17in Daewoo LCD monitors.
It all worked fine with dual monitors until I upgraded to 10.4.3. First alternatively one of my monitors went out of frequency after working through most of start up. Then the next causing the same work. Then after getting it to work by swapping around the monitors and reseting the frequency down to 75hz, both monitors went out of frequency.
I reinstalled tiger and upgraded all the way to 10.4.2 and am able to use both monitors. I did this in both archive and full mode. I also upgraded in steps several times so I am confident it is a problem that ocurs with 10.4.3 upgrade.
So it looks like their is a bug in 10.4.3 that does periodically puts the frequency out of range for the monitor.
I am posting this to be helpful to others who might experience this problem and to request any suggestions that I might have missed.

Now I just tried 10.4.5. Still the same problem. So again I went back to 10.4.2 and the problem goes away.
Given the lack of responses to my posting, I am puzzled - there must be someone else out there with a fx 5200 nvidia and vga monitors - why am I the only one with this challenge?

  • ORA-27201 Out of Memory while installing 8.1.6

I just recieved a new Solaris 2.7 machine. I am trying to install Oracle Enterprise 8.1.6 (and also tried 8.1.7). I try Installing the just the most simple install - with the basic db. In doing so the db creation fails 'Oracle not available'. If
I ignore the problem and continue the install, I then can't start Oracle afterwards. In srvmgrl I run startup and I get error 27201 - Out of Memory. A check of swap and memory shows plenty available.

Check your total SGA size, check your total physical Memory and swap space configured, then check kernel parameters for Shared Memory ,shmmax, shmseg, shmmni (all are important) By default maximum SGA size available is 1.7GB ,u can alter that.

  • [SOLVED] Error '/usr/lib64 exists' while installing adol-c

I just tried to install adol-c from the AUR. At the end of the install I ran into this error message:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    adol-c: /usr/lib64 exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
The install generated these errors earlier on:
    Prefix /usr not writable
    please run ./configure --prefix=DIR
with a writable directory path otherwise administrator privileges
will be required to run `make install'
libtool: warning: remember to run 'libtool --finish /usr/lib64'
Does this mean the adol-c package wanted to create /usr/lib64? That seems weird.
    (I used yaourt.)

Ah, good to know. Yep, /usr/lib64 is a symlink to /usr/lib.
Here's the snippet from the PKGBUILD that sets --prefix. It isn't actually naming /usr/lib64 explicitly.
    ./configure --enable-sparse --with-colpack=/usr --prefix=/usr --enable-shared=no
If I try changing --prefix to /usr/lib then I get essentially the same error but it notes that now it's /usr/lib that isn't writable instead of /usr.
    Prefix /usr not writable
    please run ./configure --prefix=DIR
with a writable directory path otherwise administrator privileges
will be required to run `make install'
This is all occurring as part of a makepkg command so getting an error about privileges has me confused.

    hi;
I faced that problem when I was a beginner on solaris as you were. I tried to install solaris to my windows installed x86 based PC. in my fisrst few attempts ý always saw that message, afterwards somehow I managed to install solaris to my PC but this time windows failed.I think that is because of the inconsistencies between those OS but if you need to install solaris you can use VM ware workstation with this software you can use both OS without problems.

Adobe is not going to swap 13 for 12. It is selling only 13 download as you found out. So, you are going to have to purchase 12 if you want to use that program. It may still be available at some retail locations, such as Amazon.
If you are within 30 days of purchase and have purchase the download from Adobe, then contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat to get a refund. To do that, click on the following link

  • [SOLVED] can't build an AUR package while installing Arch

So I am nearly there installing Arch for the first time. And I will start with saying that I am really sorry if I missed the answer to my problem but I have had a look around the documentation and the general webz for something regarding this problem and haven't found anything.
I am trying to set my wireless connection up but I apparently need the AUR b43-firmware package installed for my Broadcom BCM4322 [14e4:432b] to be functional.
So I follow the documentation to install an AUR package, but I am stuck at the building stage as makepkg does not allow me to build if I am root, and I am root by default while installing/configuring Arch...
What should I do to build and install that package so I have a wireless connection later on?
    Cheers

I am connected to the wired network, and I followed the steps to make it persistent for later, but I just wanted to go through the wireless stuff too to be extra sure I will be able to connect to the Internet later on. As it is the first time I install Arch, I am trying to be extra cautious, and having that security would make me feel more comfortable! Plus, I am keen to learn how to do those things from the command line.
Isn't there a way to switch to a normal user just for a command, and automatically reverting back to root when that action is finished? Just like sudo but the other way round

The 10g and later drivers trade memory for performance. They use much more memory than the 9i drivers, but are much faster. If you look at the JDBC FAQ here on OTN there is some more info on where the memory is going. The stack trace you posted is what I would expect to see from buffer allocation described in the FAQ.

  • [Solved]mounting partitions as /var and /home while installing ...

Hi this was the second time i installed arch.
And while installing i just wanted to mount my former /home and /var. Never to format them. So i can keep my files. But i guess i missed the mount step. And now they are independent partitions. I want to add them as /var and /home properly without damaging any of my files in "/dev/sda6" partition which was meant to be "/home". Dont care about "/dev/sda5" which was meant to be "/var".
How can i do this. Normally i would search but i dont want anything to get damaged.
    Thanks in advance.

This page gives detailed information on moving /home to a seperate partition.
I your case, not wanting to damage the data on /dev/sda6, you should skip the copying part.
