[solved] mutt, msmtp & gmail not working, TLS certificate veri. failed
Today I can't send emails again, ending up with this message:
msmtp: TLS certificate verification failed: the certificate hasn't got a known issuer
msmtp: could not send mail
I got this issue a week ago, then I downloaded the ca-certificates package and changed everything according to http://mychael.gotdns.com/blog/2007/04/ … archlinux/ the it worked again, but today it's back
Anyone with the same issue or working config?
My config here:
account gmail-sec
host smtp.gmail.com
protocol smtp
auth on
user [email protected]
password mypass
tls on
port 587
tls_trust_file /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/Thawte_Premium_Server_CA.crt

drag0nl0rd wrote:@shining: on that wiki page is a link to another web page which explains the certificates issue
(msmtp, TLS, and ArchLinux gives instructions on how to configure the certificate for msmtp.) and on that page I found a week ago the solution for my problem. So now I put a comment with the latest used certificate. But if you have time, you can of course also change the wiki page
Ok I see, there is a comment on that external page. Well, that will do for now.
However, what I would like to see eventually is a small wiki page dedicated to msmtp, with all required information on it, so that we don't need to look at other blog post. And then replace the msmtp section on mutt page by a simple link to that new msmtp page.
There is no reason to tie msmtp with mutt.
As I expected, I eventually ran into this problem and had to fix it, which reminded me of this thread.
So here it is :
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Msmtp

Please do not hesitate to improve it as you see fit.

[SOLVED] Mutt - sidebar stuff not working
So I compiled mutt-sidebar from AUR and configured it according to the sample file at http://lunar-linux.org/index.php?page=mutt-sidebar (and also checking brisbin's config at http://pbrisbin.com:8080/dots.html), and I am getting errors when trying to start mutt.
Here is the error:

i originally had 'color sidebar whatever whatever' which set the color of a no-new-messages sidebar folder, seems that is now deprecated (i'm guessing it just takes the 'color normal whatever whatever' option and applies that).
Stalafin wrote:xterm_set_titles and certificates_file - what are those? And the latter sounds rather important...
xterm_set_titles was used in muttng to set the titlebar b/c i guess mutt 1.5.17 didnt do that, now that this patch is applied to 1.5.20 this is automatic.
certificate_file (no s) seems to work for me now (dunno what happened there...), but if an option like that is unset mutt will usually just use some default in /var/lib/mutt or /usr/share/mutt or something, i dunno. i wouldn't be too worried.
glad it's working now, and thank you for the post, i like mutt-sidebar _much_ better than muttng, it colors things appropriately, isn't as buggy, and i get to use 1.5.20!

[solved] openvpn connection no longer working, tls error
Hey!
I have a strange problem. The same setup was working for months, nothing changed. Perhaps it`s due to an update and you guys can help me. I can`t establish a vpn connection to our openvpn server any more.
I`m using tunnelblick as vpn client to connect from my mac to the office. It hangs at "waiting for response from server". I`m not an expert, but as I understand the tls handshake fails. I googled around and tried everything suggested, but no success.
I haven`t used it since the latest openvpn package update, perhaps it has something to do with that?
I found this, too, but it didn`t help either:

I did more reading and it seemed to be a problem in the config files, anything else could be pretty much excluded.
I started with fresh config files referring to the german wiki (it`s different) from .org. Since it was working with this I started to track the problem down. In the end I had to delete the
multihome
option in the server config. Everything seems fine now! Thanks for everyone that read it. Perhaps it helps someone in the future. -
[Solved]mutt & msmtp -- big problem; emails I sent have wrong FROM tag
I have configured mutt and msmtp according to the wiki.
In .msmtprc I have set the 'from' tag to be my university's email address, basically [email protected]
Now, when I sent emails out to people, what they see in the from tag is [email protected].. etc, where is USER is my Linux user name, HOST is my machine's name... This is really odd, and it appears as if I have a mailserver running or something....
How can I solve that?

[SOLVED] DPMS screen off not working with xorg 1.16.0, gnome 3
After the update of xorg into 1.16.0-2, screen is not turned off by DPMS in GNOME.
I also tried an manual command:
$ xset dpms force off
but it's not working.
In other WM, this command is working.
With xorg 1.15.2 and gnome 3, there is not this problem.
When I entered the command, the screen turned off for a couple of seconds and turned back on.

[solved] NFS client will not work correctly
I have all my $HOME on an NFS Server. So long I used suse and debian, now I want switch to arch but the nfs-client ist not working correctly:
I start "portmap nfslock nfsd netfs" over rc.conf. When I do a "rpcinfo -p <ip-arch-system>" I got the following
stefan:/home/stefan # rpcinfo -p 192.168.123.3

As you see "status" is missing, so the statd is not running. It sould look like the result on my suse box:
stefan:/home/stefan # rpcinfo -p 192.168.123.2

100021 1 tcp 35804 nlockmgr
100021 3 tcp 35804 nlockmgr

There is the "status" line and so the statd is running.
How can I fix that problem, so that statd ist running on my arch box too?
Last edited by stka (2007-06-10 15:59:48)The Problem ist solved.
I use ldap for authentication. During the setup of the ldapclient I copied the nsswitch.ldap to nsswitch.conf. But the line for "hosts:" was:
hosts: dns ldap
but in my dns ist no localhost entry. After I changed this line to:
hosts: files dns ldap
everything was ok. The statd is now running and I can start to migrate to archlinux ;-) -
Why does gmail not work in HTML anymore as it did someweeks before?
Until several weeks ago GMAIL worked fine in HTML. Then, after a Firefox version change it worked only in the low res version. This has happened before after a version change but remedied itself after the next version change.
This time it is still not working in HTML even after several version changes!!

[Solved] Wacom pen buttons not working
Hi, this is probably simple to fix, but I don't understand everything well enough to get it set up. I have a Fujitsu T5010 with internal Wacom tablet. The Wacom drivers are installed. I can use the pen to move the pointer, and click. However, the buttons on the side of the pen do not work. Also, the eraser end of the pen seems to register as an ordinary single click, rather than a separate input.

[SOLVED] cat6500 vlan filtering not working

On all of 3750G there is a broadcast filtering of VLAN 4000, and it's working:
mac access-list extended badhosts
permit any host ffff.ffff.ffff
vlan access-map dropbad 10
action drop
match mac address badhosts
vlan access-map dropbad 20
action forward
vlan filter dropbad vlan-list 4000
Then i copy this config to 6500, and it's not working. I configured two ports, one is switchport access vlan 4000 and other is switchport capture allowed vlan 4000, and i see on both ports same broadcast traffic. Filter is working, but packets are not dropping. I've tried to find something in manual, but found only about platform cwan acl software-switched, enabled it, nothing changed.
cat6500# sh vlan filter
VLAN Map dropbad:
Configured on VLANs: 4000
Active on VLANs: 4000i think i solve the problem: to make vlan filtering to work on 6500, i've added:
# conf t
(config)# int vlan 4000
(config-if)# no shut
(config-if)# mac packet-classify

[SOLVED] Xorg and keyboard not working after upgrade.
Hi guys,
after a `# pacman -Syyu` I got Xorg not starting and keyboard not working: I am unable to do anything.
I'm posting here pacman's log that I got by booting an Ubuntu Live CD: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/7517806
Any hint?
How do you recover a system once it's gone like this? Many thanks in advance.

I wouldn't necessarily call this [SOLVED]. At best I would probably mention that you found a workaround. The addition of '(downgrade)' likely makes it fine, but just FYI for future threads. There are two reasons for this. One, others who find this thread are likely to dig into it thinking there is a real solution, and two, if you mark it as [Solved] it might generate less attention, lessening the chances of you actually being helped to a real solution.
Just my 1.46¢
You're right, problem wasn't actually solved. In fact, yesterday I upgraded the whole system again and the same problem showed up, but I got it fixed.
Same scenario: after a boot (shorter than usual), what I had was a tty, but I noticed something that I hadn't noticed the last time: the prompt said "Arch Linux 3.11.[?]".
The kernel version was supposed to be 3.12.[?] so I started investigating and after several attempts, this is how I got the system working again:
1. Chrooted into the system
2. Wiped /boot
3. Re-installed grub
4. Re-installed linux kernel
5. Re-created grub.cfg
6. ???
7. Profit
I'm pretty sure that what originated the problem wasn't a "kernel issue" as I pointed out in my previous post, but it was an incorrect installation of grub: in fact, the grub prompt never showed up before yesterday, the system used to boot straight, ignoring the 5 seconds timeout. -
Is your GMail not working?
Google posts the status of their applications here... http://www.google.com/appsstatus#. Gmail at the top.
If your Google Mail or Calendar is not working, you may want to check here first to see if it's an outage at Google instead of a problem with your iPhone. You can "try" making an appointment at a UK Apple store, but don't be surprised if they tell you you'll have to return the phone to the US for service.
iPhone does not have an International warranty or service, & generally must be serviced in country of original purchase. And no, you can't mail the phone to Apple. You'll have to physically deliver it to an Apple store in the US.
Costs US $269.
Good Luck. -
[Problem Solved] On screen display not working on T60
I replace my xp with a Vista Business.
All the drivers are installed. But the on screen display is not working well. Nothing display when I press the volume up/down/mute button. However, other buttons like Fn+F3, Fn+F5 do display on screen.
Anyone knows how to solve this?
Thanks a lot.

Solved!
Go to Solution.problem solved.
looks like I need to install a Lenovo System Interface Driver. This is just for ATI graphic card users and nVidia users don't need it.
Thanks a lot. -
[SOLVED] Internal Speaker (pcsp) not working
UPDATE: solved muting all Analog Loopback channels in alsamixer
Hi everybody,
i'm tuning the lucky arch installation on a DELL Studio XPS 13. No troubles in video card configuration, neither in wireless drivers, but i'm getting big problems with audio playback. I mean every kind of audio playback.
I firstly read out the docs and topics around here but couldn't find a solution. Alsaconf says ok, alsamixer channels activated and configuration stored, but audio playing software (kde sounds, juk, amarok, vlc, flashplugin) is not producing any sound. As these softwares are not complaining about audio matters, and the multimedia module in Kde Control is describing this only as not working, i suppose the cause must be pcsp (which i disabled rc.conf).

snd-pcsp and pcspkr both claim the same hardware and are both responsible for making your machine "beep" - i disabled both of them. you don't need them for your audio-playback. looking for issues of your sound-output by suspecting snd-pcsp or pcspkr is a dead end.
getting sound can sometimes be an adventure, i had that problem before. but often it just turns out to be some well hidden mute switch in alsamixer or some volume settings. it might be a problem with kde4's sound server. i don't use kde4 on a regular basis, so i can't help too much with that (back when i used kde3 i had to configure aRts but kde4 discontinued aRts in favor of phonon).
absolutly needed quotation as in the end it has been discovered that in-activating Analog Loopback channels in alsamixer solved the problem
i'm not sure this was the unique step in order to get alsa working (i read and followed suggentions from many many forums and wikis) but finally i found a post where the problem for a sound blaster owner was solved disabling the iec958 channel. That was the input for a deeper research in alsamixer configuration.
Thank you very much. keep enjoyng archlinux.

[SOLVED] Direct Rendering is not working with Catalyst 8.6-1.
I own an ATI Radeon X1300, and everything was working flawlessly with Catalyst 8.5-1, and when I updated the drivers, DRI stopped working. It has happened with me in the past, and the only solution I had found then was to downgrade the drivers. I appreciate your help.

(II) fglrx(0): DRIScreenInit done
(II) fglrx(0): Kernel Module Version Information:
(II) fglrx(0): Name: fglrx
(II) fglrx(0): Version: 8.49.7
(II) fglrx(0): Date: May 12 2008
(II) fglrx(0): Desc: ATI FireGL DRM kernel module
(WW) fglrx(0): Kernel Module version does *not* match driver.
(EE) fglrx(0): incompatible kernel module detected - HW accelerated OpenGL will not work
You have to quit X, then rmmod and modprobe the kernel module - you're still using the old one. (a reboot would technically fix it too)
# rmmod fglrx
# modprobe fglrx
# dmesg | tail
The dmesg output should say you've successfully loaded the 8.501 driver. -
[solved] mouse and keyboard not working (and previous fix wont work)
i made a clean default setup with
arch
latest kernel - 2.6.29 i think
xorg 1.6.1
video-intel-legacy
on a 865G intel box + tried usb and ps2 keyboards + usb mouse
when i start X the mouse and keyboard dont work (and i have to hard reset the box) in all of the setups i tried. the AutoAddDevices fix suggested before does not work this time
- without xorg.conf
- with auto-generated xorg.conf (X -confogure)
- with the automatic conf +
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection
- with tiny xorg.conf containing only
Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AutoAddDevices" "False"
EndSection
- with dbus/hal enabled and disabled in rc.conf
how i make it work
Last edited by ash (2009-04-30 19:01:41)the setup that works to me now is
automatic xorg.conf with the AutAddDevices False (disable hotplug) lines
dbus and hal enabled in deamons
this lines instruct xorg to use xf86-input-mouse/keyboard instead of evdev. ie it looks like with evdev there is no point in xf86-input-mouse/keyboard

How to write JavaSctipt in Jsp
Hi all, I am new to JavaSctipt. Just confused when to write JavaScripts inside Scriptlets and when not to write inside sctiptlets. Also wanted to know diffrence between client side scripting and server side scripting.

I'm looking for a security device that can handle VLANs on the WAN side. Like virtual WAN interfaces; one for each VLAN I'm hoping something like the SA540 can do it. Any suggestions?
