[Solved]My SSID is invisible in wifi list

This problem occured some weeks ago.(I don't remember exact date)
Oneday, suddenly I couldn't have connected my home wifi which had no problem at all before.
The problem occured while I'm using my laptop without any update or reboot.
And, I found that the problem is that I cannot get the SSID of my home wifi when scanning.(It was visible before of course.)
From that time, I still cannot use my home wifi.
With netctl/networkmanger/iwlist scan, they show same problem.
There's no connection issue with visible SSID and wired one.
Also, when I enable my Android hotspot, my laptop detects the AP well.
What should I do? Here's my environment:
Model: Macbook Pro 13inch 2011 early
DE: latest stable release of KDE4
LAN Chipset: Broadcom, from lspci:
Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM57765 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 10)
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4331 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 02)
Firmware: broadcom-wl-6.30.223.141 (from AUR)
Please let me know any other informations which you need in order to find answer.

Any chance you have somehow directed your hardware on the Arch box to use only channel 1?
Also, as to other networks on the same channel -- 802.11 b/g/n use direct sequencing digital spread spectrum communications.  Every network on the channel has a different chipping sequence.  The only interference comes in the form of a reduced signal/noise ratio; but I digress
I know you said you had used multiple network managers, so that would tend to mitigate the issue.  Perhaps you had more than one running at a time?   Maybe one put the hardware into an odd state, and when you changed to the other managers the hardware was already in la-la land.
Try this.  Disable all of your network managers.   Power down (not reboot).  Start cold and boot the system.   Look at the output of sudo iw wlan0 scan    (Replace wlan0 with the name of your link)

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Printer name appearing on my wifi list

Lately, I've seen that my printer's name is appearing on my wifi list. What is the password ? Does it even work? What does it do ?

Sounds like you have Wireless Direct enabled in the printer.   This needs to be disabled and the printers SSID will no longer be visible.  Read your manual to see how this is done.

  • My Mac Mini (Mid 2011) doesn't connect to Time Capsule in 5GHz Network. This WiFi Network don't appear in the WiFi list. What's Wrong?

My Mac Mini (Mid 2011) doesn't connect to Time Capsule in 5GHz Network. This WiFi Network don't appear in the WiFi list. What's Wrong?

Oh yes, & 5 GHz doesn't do walls very well at all.
    GHz and Network Range
The higher the frequency of a wireless signal, the shorter its range. Thus, 2.4 GHz networks cover a substantially larger range than 5 GHz wireless networks. In particular, the higher frequency wireless signals of 5 GHz networks do not penetrate solid objects nearly as well as do 2.4 GHz signals, limiting their reach inside homes.

  • "Device" with my SSID showing up in WiFi Menu as computer to computer network

    OK guys this is weird...
A few weeks ago a noticed my SSID showing up unprotected under "device" in my wifi menu across all my ios devices. It shows up as protected in the list of all the networks in my neighborhood, but not under "device". Out of curiosity, I connected to it, and realized it was a computer to computer network. The problem is that I didn't create this network. It just showed up. I do not have internet sharing turned on. The only time it goes away is when I connect to my wireless network. When I switch back to Ethernet, it shows up again. I thought it would be as simple as deleting the network, but it doesn't show up anywhere else. I've tried formatting my hard drive. Still there. I've tried unplugging my router. Still there. I've tried everything I can think of to get rid of this thing, and it just wont go away. This has me slightly concerned.  Any help would be appreciated.

    William,
Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure which device it is, if any. It just displays my SSID. One secure, one not. I did not create this network, and I do not have hotspot turned on to my knowledge. I do have all my devices logged in to iCloud so I can message and call on my devices, but I wouldn't think that would automatically create an ad-hoc. I never saw it before last week. I attached a screenshot. Thanks for your help.

  • [SOLVED] Network Manager cannot connect to wifi after suspend

    Hi,
There appears to be similar threads recently, but they relate to no wifi at all. I did some updates today, and now if I suspend or hibernate, network manager cannot reconnect to my wifi. It will (after a while) ask me to authenticate, but still fails. Nothing works except a reboot where it connects without issue.

heiko wrote:linux-3.3.2 is released on www.kernel.org and reverts the patch that introduced this problem.
For those using the arch repo kernel the next release will solve this issue. So I suggest waiting for this (no more than a few days) and use the LTS kernel in the meantime (or using a fixed ath9k module if already built).
Thanks for that heiko. I thought that would be the case, hence I just waited.
    Will mark this as solved.

  • [SEMI-SOLVED] MonoDevelop fonts are invisible in XMonad

A MonoDevelop project open in the XMonad tiling window manager:
The same MonoDevelop project is shown, but this time I opened it in the MATE Desktop Environment:
Any idea what might be causing the fonts to “disappear” in XMonad?
Note that the text is actually there in XMonad: in MonoDevelop’s editor, I can do CTRL+A CTRL+C and then paste in e.g. LeafPad and see that the text does exist, it is just misteriously invisible.
I would really like to solve this since I want to use XMonad as my everyday environment.

Well this issue is semi-solved, but honestly I do not know what fixed it.
I wish I had a specific fix to share in case someone else encouters the same issue, but for the record here is what I tried, in no particular order.
(The two last points probably have nothing to do with the problem I was having, as they relate to how Java programs behave in tiling WM, but as I said, I have no clue what fixed my invisible fonts in MonoDevelop (in XMonad), so I’ll just dump everything I did in that list…) :
    installed ttf-ms-fonts from the AUR
installed a few themes from the AUR, i.e. adwaita-x-dark-and-light-theme and a few others
    removed `wmname LG3D' from my `~/.xinitrc'
    uncommented export _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1 in `/etc/profile.d/jre.sh'
    I think that’s it.
P.S. : however, fonts are still invisible on some tabs in MonoDevelop, but that problem happens in both XMonad and MATE, so I marked this as [SEMI-SOLVED]. Any input appreciated !

  • Who is on my wifi list?

    Hello everyone
I have been looking at who is conneted to my wifi and im not sure about a few things.
In the home hub mangement page I have listed the devices that are connected to the network.
My sisters computer and my playstation 3 show up, this is normal but my computer that i am writing this with does not.
I do have an unkown device with out an adresse Unknown-C8-BC-C8-ect etc.
Is this some one on my network or is it me?
Either way its not very clear.
    Any help would be great
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That is a MAC address most likely your own PC as no one can connect to your wireless network unless they have your wireless security code or they are wired into your hub by ethernet cable

  • [SOLVED] Problem with Networkmanager and two WiFi cards

I have two WiFi cards, one onboard my laptop, one USB. I use the USB one since gets a stronger signal, but the other one tries to connect.
Is there a way of stoping that.
I don't want to cancel the possibility of using it, just when I plug the USB antenna.
    Thank you

progandy wrote:Is there an entry for your onboard wifi in rfkill? Then block it when pluggin in the usb stick and unblock it lateron.
    Thanks for the reply.
    This is what I get:
    $ rfkill list
    0: samsung-wlan: Wireless LAN
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
    1: samsung-bluetooth: Bluetooth
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
    2: phy0: Wireless LAN
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
    3: hci0: Bluetooth
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
    4: phy1: Wireless LAN
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
If I try to "block" either number 2 or number 4. The WiFi disconects. It's as if they were the same card.
    Any ideas?
    Once again thank you

  • [SOLVED] Hostname not showing in DHCP lease list

This is a brand new installation using the new systemd base.
Installed openbox as window manager and Network Manager.
What did I miss that the hostname of this computer (opus) is not showing up in the DHCP Leases list?
When I connect to the network using Network Manger(DHCP), hostname is not sent to the DHCP server (DNSmasq). It shows up as a "*":
    DHCP leases
    Hostname      IP-address                MAC-address            Lease expires
    *                     192.168.10.100        XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX    Nov 28th, 19:34
    *                     192.168.10.59          XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX    Nov 28th, 19:23
    alarmpi           192.168.10.69          XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX    Nov 28th, 16:56
    RM696            192.168.10.97          XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX    Nov 28th, 18:23
    (I blanked out the MAC-addresses.)
The first entry is connecting through wireless. The second is wired.
    At the command line:
    hostname
    opus
    hostname -f
    localhost.localdomain
    /etc/hosts:
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address>    <hostname.domain.org>    <hostname>
    127.0.0.1    localhost.localdomain    localhost    opus
    ::1        localhost.localdomain    localhost    opus
    # End of file
What file do I need to change and how?
    Updated:
    1) I created a /etc/dhclient.conf file and added:
    send host-name "opus";
    request subnet-mask, broadcast-address, time-offset, routers,
    domain-search, domain-name, domain-name-servers, host-name;
    and rebooted.
    This had no effect.
    2) Just for kicks, I uninstalled Network Manager and installed Wicd.
This DID send the hostname and it displayed on the DHCP Leases List. But it also had the effect of turning off the WiFi radio.
I did try to turn it back on: Went to the BIOS, made sure it was on (it was). Read some posts about power savings and what to do (tried them, didn't work).
So I uninstalled Wicd, re-installed Network Manager and I am back to where I was.

  • How do you delete un-necessary networks from wifi list?

On my Droid 2, I go to
    Settings/Wireless & networks/Wi-Fi settings/Manage Networks (at bottom of list).
On that screen it says "To conserve battery, delete un-necessary networks from the list."
Great advice -- but how do you do it?
I went back to the Wi-Fi settings screen; long press on an unwanted network -- the only choice is "Connect to Network".
I powered off the phone.  Waited awhile.  Powered back on.  Same result.  I have the latest Motorola maint applied.
    Any ideas?

I have provided some steps below to remove networks from the network list.
1.From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display).
    2.Touch Settings.
    3.Touch Wireless & networks.
    4. Touch Wi-Fi settings.
    5. Touch Manage Networks.
    6. Touch and hold the appropriate WiFi network.
    7. Touch Forget network.

  • Invisible files under list in trash

I've read a some threads about hidden files in the trash, but none of them pertained to my issue. It's nothing major, and does not affect the functionality of the trash or Leopard. But I am quite curious.
Whenever I check what I have in my trash, under the LIST and PREVIEW LIST view, I see maybe 1 or two files/folders the others are invisible. ie. I know I've deleted a number of files/folders, but only see 1 or two spread apart, as if there are other files in between. But when I switch to ICON or COLUMN view, all the files/folders I deleted are visible. Switching back to the other 2 views makes most of the files/folders invisible again.
Wondering what is causing this, and maybe how to fix.
    Thanks.

Thanks Carolyn, unfortunately, it didn't pertain to my issue. Deleting files, and deleting files in the trash work just fine, which is what the link to The X Lab was touching on.
My issue is just the view window. 2 of the 4 window view options shows all files, the other 2 only shows one or two random ones (most times the visible file is a folder, but I've seen an actual file be visible as well). I haven't seen more than 2 be visible at one time under List view or Preview List view.
I've repaired permissions, cleared cache, ran Disk Warrior, but nothing has fixed the issue. It seems like it happened after updating to 10.5.6. My previous G5 dual 1.8 PPC running 10.5.5, and my Mac at work (same specs as my current system) doesn't have this issue.

I am using a  Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter, and I am using the default driver. I am trying now to set it up purely off dhcpcd after netctl and Network manager don't work. Here is some more information:
    All systemctl running:
