[SOLVED] ndiswrapper requires manual install
Hi all,
For some time now I found that, while the ndiswrapper package is up to date in the repository, pacman -S ndiswrapper and variants seem to sync to a less recent version of the package. Manual downloading the package from the archlinux website works, so it's a problem that can be bypassed. But of course, I'm curious what's going on.
I checked /etc/pacman.conf, and there's no entry of ndiswrapper there, so I don't think I accidentally fudged anything?
Thanks.

System requirements for installing Fusion Apps.
Please, Oracle gurus,
Has anyone been able to install a Fusion apps. in a "pc" or a "laptop" ? is it possible to install it in a server alone or we need 2 physical servers?
How many RAM gb, are required?
I would like to install the new release but I think it's much more complex than installing a EBS-R12 and the RAM requirements are bigger. I have not found exact requirements for now given the number of different products neccesary.
Thanks
JuanjeConfirmed,
No one in Oracle can give a figure of the minimum RAM required to install a demo version of Fusion apps. in a laptop or pc.(perhaps this is not possible, but I would like to know it, not to try even the installation).
The answer would be simple: 4 gb/8 gb/ 16gb/32 gb.of ram.
For example I've got an EBS-release 121.1. up and running with a 4 gb.-ram laptop, and it works very well to study.
This is the type of answer I would need.
The answer "this info is in the manuals" does not solve my problem, if this info. was clearly specified in the manuals I would not be here writing this question.
Of course I've also look for this info in the web for several days.
Please, if someone has installed a visio-demo of the Fusion apps. release, share the knowledge.
Many thanks.

Hello,
While trying to update Adobe Reader XI 10.0.06 to 10.0.07 on my laptop running W7 Home Premium x 64, I get error message 2203. The same occurs if I try to uninstall before manually install the new version. Can you please help?
PS.- Thank you very much for your Support in trying to solve a problem created by yourselves.
Message was edited by: Juan VeranoIs there anything else beside the number 2203?
Try removing the current Reader using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, then install 11.0.07 from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ -
"Aperture 3.0 or later is required to install this update." 3.01 won't work
I purchased A3 as a download. I initially begin with the trial, and then I entered the activation key post purchase. A3.0 is on my computer. The program has been very buggy, slow, etc…
Now I want (and need) to download A3.01, which may correct some of these issues. The apple software update module does not recognize the need for 3.01. It did download the 3.01 RAW update, but the main 3.01 download was not offered as an option.
Next I manually downloaded the 3.01 update. However, when I then try to execute this latest update from the dmg file I get the message: "Aperture 3.0 or later is required to install this update."
Well, Aperture 3.0 is on my computer, it is licensed, and it is active. So what more can I say or do?
Some have suggested "renaming" Aperture in the root Applications folder as "Aperture". Well, A3 is already named "Aperture" in my root Applications folder. So this is a nonstarter.
Some have suggested deleting Aperture and reinstalling. Well, I did just that and I still get the same message. Interestingly, the reinstalled A3 started right up without asking me to convert the program to a full-fledged activated program. The activation key must already be lodged somewhere on the computer.
I have also rebooted the program as the last refuge for scoundrels. This also, non-surprisingly, is useless.
What next?Just a quick note, did you rename or move the Aperture icon to your desktop? I found that Software update has problems finding Aperture if you rename or move the Aperture icon to your desktop. Hope this helps I have a habit of renaming Aperture to the latest version Aperture 3.0.1 and putting the icon on the desktop. Not sure if this is a good idea maybe some of long you Mac users can assist.

Hi, I have a refurbished upgraded macbook with 320 GB Disk, 4GB Memory and running Lion OS v 10.7.5. This satisfies the second part of the requirement for installing OS X Mavericks (10.9) but happens to be an early 2008 piece. Can I somehow install 10.9? And why is apple not allowing people like me to try out this installation? Any reason that are too technical that people like me cannot upgrade and handle?
This would solve many apps to run on this. It's mainly the video card. The Models 2,1 through 4,1 have video cards with non-upgradeable 32bit drivers. The model 5,1 Late 2008 and newer have at least the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M with 64bit drivers. Mountain Lion and Mavericks require 64bit native drivers. Mountain Lion and Mavericks no longer support Intel's GMA 950 or GMA X3100 graphics processors.
While Lion used some 32 bit and a lot of 64 bit code, Mountain Lion and Mavericks are pure 64 bit, which excludes more systems than Lion did. It's not something you can add memory to, for example, as it involves the base architecture.

Macbook Pro Retina freezes requiring manual reboot
Hello,
Starting a few days ago my notebook experiences severe freezes that
require manual reboot.
The system is a Macbook Pro Retina from 2013, with MacOSX 10.8.5.
I use it for both work (software devel, MSOffice, Latex, Skype) and
leisure (music, movies, browsing).
Apple software updates and most add-on software are up-to-date (with
the notable exception of MSOffice).
Starting a few days ago, my computer started freezing. By freeze I mean
that the user interface completely blocks. I can still move the mouse
pointer (smoothly), but clicking has no effects. The only way I found to exit
such freezes is through a shut down using the button.
Freezes seem to be associated with video. They always happen when I
try to use both Skype and a browser. They also happen sometimes when
watching video on video streaming sites different from YouTube.
Funny enough, when Skype freezes, the user interface and the video
blocks, but the sound still works in both directions.
It does not look like a hardware problem.
At first the symptoms reminded me of viruses (I do have a certain age,
so I remember) but now I'm less sure. It could be a software
incompatibility (I seem to remember that I have accepted an Apple software
update just a few days ago).
I would appreciate any help in understanding the problem and in solving
it.
Yours,
DumitruHello Link,
Thanks for your help. Here is the information you asked me to find.
Some additional information:
- Of the 4 reboots I can find in the log (I had more, they must have been overwritten),
3 show the same pattern as the one I pasted here. It ends with problems in
OpenGL.
- Both crashed I have on record are on VDCAssistant.
- I don't find shutdownstalls.
Regards,
Dumitru

How to manually install updates?
I use Sun Update Manager and there are 110 updates available for now. Among the 110 updates, 37 updates that require manual installation are still on the available updates list after I click the 'Install Updates' button and restart the system. How do I install these 37 updates?
There are a couple of things that could be causing this.
Without more info, its hard to know what.
There are some patches that genuinely require manual handling, but they're not common so 30 odd seems like too many.
Your probably blocked on one manual patch, thats a prereq for the rest.
What kernel level are you currently on. If 118833-36 show up in the list of patches to install then thats the one thats causing the problems. (Or 118855 in the x86 world).
Try "smpatch add -i 118833-36"
followed by a reboot. Sun recommends doing this in single user mode. I don't normally bother unless the machine is heavily used and/or critically important. -
Manual install of GPRS settings on X68GB?
Hi!
I just purchased a Nokia X68GB and i can make a phonecall with it and also send and receive text messages, but the Internet connection and MMS does not work.
I received automatic instal instructions from my operator via SMS,but they does not work. When contacting the operator regarding the fact that the Internet connection still does not work i was told to instal the GPRS settings manually.
This is the instructions the Operator provides with:
To set up your GPRS settings manually, set the following parameters:
Profilename: Parlino GPRS
URL: wap.parlino.se
Proxy: 130.244.196.090
APN: internet.parlino.se
Username: <empty>

Go to Solution.Hi and thank´s for your reply, pudu!
I appreciate your help, however, the instructions you gave did not work.
Yesterday i received an email from Nokia with instructions how to manually install GPRS settings on my X68GB,and now i can connect to Internet.
These are the instructions i was given that helped me to solve the case:
1) Press the Menu button, then 'Settings', then 'Connections', then 'Destinations.' and finally 'Internet'.
2) Make sure the list that appears here is empty. We do this by selecting all possible access points are, and then press 'Options' and 'Clear'.
3) Press 'Options' and 'New access point' - now you will be asked if you want to search for available access points - answer 'No'.
4) Select 'Packet' and name it 'Parlino GPRS' and press 'OK'
5) Now our new access point, turned up, so select it and press 'Options' and 'edit'
6) Press 'Options' and 'Advanced'. Highlight this 'Proxy address' and enter 130. 244. 196. 090. Press 'OK'and then 'Back'.
7) Press the 'Connection Name' and enter internet.parlino.se, then press OK
8) Press the 'Home' and enter wap.parlino.se, press OK. Then press back until you return to the home screen.
The settings are now finished and your Service Provider given you correct information so you should be able to access the Internet.
These instructions worked for me,so i now consider the problem as solved. Hope these instructions can be helpful for anyone if they get the same problem. -
PC: HP Proboook 4510SPrevious OS: Windows 7 Pro 32-bitNew OS: Windows 10 Pro 32 bit Issue: I upgraded to windows 10 from 7 pro and some of my internal devices dont have drivers. I could fix this issue quickly if two of them were not my ethernet card and wireless adapter. Right now I only have 2 adapters listed under network adapters and both are virtual VM ethernet cards. Neither of these can establish a connection through a router I know is working on other laptops in my house. The error I get is that the IP address cannot be resolved. The odd part is that when I look at the details for the VM ethernet cards it shows a good DHCP IP and subnet....TX/RX is no good though as it only shows sending packets and not recieving them. I tried to manually install the windows 7 drivers from a USB stick. I got them off of HP's website. I installed them but it did nothing. However, I was having no luck and restarted and they momentarily showed up in the adapters list (under network settings in control panel). Then as soon as I tried to enable them they went away and I still have no internet. Not sure what is going on or what to do. If I cannot install the HP drivers and get them to work, and I cannot connect to the internet to let windows fix the problem I seem to be stuck.. Please Help.
Hello , I understand that your secondary DVD drive is not recognizable as an optical device on your desktop computer after upgrading to Windows 10. I would be happy to assist you in this matter! When you examine the installed drives in the BIOS, does the 2nd DVD drive appear? What brand are the two DVD drives? What is the product number for your computer? Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number.
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on HP PCs - Updating Drivers and Software with Windows Update (Windows 10, 8). This should help to install any possible updates required to run the secondary DVD drive. Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

Required software install to users
Im targeting a group of users for a "Required" software install. I am giving them a week to install from the App Store before making it mandatory. Where would I go to configure that this only be installed on the PC that they have
logged on the most and not a PC they happen to be on when it becomes mandatory?Hi,
I concur with Gerry, you could import a file containing user device affinities to enable you to create many relationships at one time.
Note:Users and devices must have been discovered and exist as resources in the Configuration Manager database, otherwise this procedure will fail.
For more information, please review the link below:

i upgrade my 3gs to os 6.1 but starting then all my manually installed apps does work and every time I open them, it asks me to log in to my apple account but responds that my password is incorrect. I tried to change my password but i never received the confirmation email. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Hi,
iChat (it would help to know which version) can accept Apple IDs as valid AIM Screen Names.
However if you have iChat 5 or earlier you cannot use ones ending in @me.com or @icloud.com issued by iCloud. (they can be used in iChat 6 or Messages as these versions make a double login to AIM and Apple to allow the use of the password).
In addition if you are using an Apple ID for an AIM Screen Name the password still needs to keep to the 16 character limit that AIM has.
AN @mac.com name can be used on any version of iChat (Until the 30th June 2014)
As it does not need a double check with Apple you can use it to log in to the AIM Web pages
Login here with an AIM Name registered at AIM or and @mac.com name and see if you get any suspended account messages.
Sometimes account can be suspended. Usually because something has triggered the "Unusual Activity" item.
About a year ago many @mac.com users that travelled out of their own country found themselves suspended when they got home.
If the Name checks out of if an Apple ID the password in known to be 16 characters or Less then do this:-
In Lion upwards open a Finder Window and use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears in the menu list.
Navigate to Preferences.
(If you have version earlier than Lion the just navigate to ~/Library/Preferences (that's the Library in you Home - Little House icon - folder)
Fnd com.apple.ichat.aim.plist (even if you are using Messages)
Drag the file to the Trash and Restart the app.

How can I do a manual install of ACR 7.4 in 64-bit Win 7 PSE 11?
I found detailed instructions on this forum that I think were for 32-bit Win 7 but I'm hoping 64-bit install is different since I followed them and still no success. I know that 8.1 is supposed to be able to be manually installed and that would be ok too but I really only need to go from 7.1 to 7.4 and the update function is greyed out. I started with a trial version on that machine so maybe that has something to do with it? It is registered and activated. Tried to uninstall/re-install and still no luck(didn't check the "de-activate" though so maybe I need to try again and choose this?
Not afraid to try a manual install if it is in fact different.
This is the thread I followed - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1266134
I have the PSE 11 on a Mac platform also and was able to update it no problem...can't get the Win 7 to work for the life of me.
Thanks for any responses.Glad it worked.
There is one more thing you should install and those are the camera raw profiles for 8.1
Download the 8.1 DNG Converter and run the installer to install the camera raw profiles.
(those profiles would normally be installed if the updater in your pse 11 was working)

When attempting install of iTunes 10.5 for Windows 7 on Parallels 7, I get a message saying, "A program required to install cannot be run. Contact the package vendor or sys admin" (that's me). I completely uninstalled the previous iTunes prior to this. Any thoughts?
