[SOLVED] netcfg fails to add IPv6 gateway

After updating the (~2-month backlog of) packages on an Arch Linux VPS, I can no longer get netcfg to bring up eth0 with an IPv6 gateway.  However, if I bring up eth0 manually, it works...

I don't know if I borked something during the package upgrades -- there were those couple announced ones that required minor manual intervention.  Any ideas?

  • [SOLVED] netcfg: unable to add gateway on boot when using ipv6

    I'm using netcfg to start two interfaces. The first, eth0, is configured with IPv6 in its profile, and for some reason does not start on boot but throws an error. (note: I've changed the real addresses to mask them.)

    The strange thing is that, after boot, I can easily do a `/etc/rc.d/net-profiles restart` or `netcfg up eth0`, and eth0 works fine. Any suggestions? Here's my eth0 profile.

    Have you already gone through these instructions:

  • [solved] netcfg fails with no apparent reason

    So, I'm trying to set up a very simple profile with netcfg:
    CONNECTION='ethernet'
    DESCRIPTION='ok'
    INTERFACE='eth0'
    IP='dhcp'
    Here's what happens when I try to bring it up:
    DEBUG: Loading profile eth0-dhcp
    DEBUG: Configuring interface eth0
    :: eth0-dhcp up
    DEBUG: status reported to profile_up as:
    DEBUG: Loading profile eth0-dhcp
    DEBUG: Configuring interface eth0
    DEBUG: ethernet_iproute_up ifup
    > No connection
    DEBUG: profile_up connect failed
    [FAIL]
    If I just do
    sudo ifconfig eth0 up
    sudo dhcpcd eth0
    , the network works fine.
    So, what might be the root of my problems with netcfg?

    How long does it take for the interface to come up when you do it manually?
    Looking at what looks like the relevant lines of code (30-40) it could be a timeout issue, though not necessarily. You could manually try the commands issued in the scripts at that time.
    Just thinking aloud as, if it is a bug, then any info will be useful and netcfg is/has just getting a new maintainer, I think.

  • [solved] netcfg fails only on reconnect

    Hi there,
    I am running system.d and I am able to start netcfg once. Netcfg reconnect fails, as well as attempting to connect a second time when e.g. network was not available on first attempt. Normally I start netcfg on boot, and if it fails I am not able to try a connection manually. Basically it means I have only one try to connect to a wireless network before reboot.
    I first thought it might be related to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=151662 but I could not help myself.
    Here is the output when netcfg is disabled in systemd.

    Ok, finaly I got it working - first time with systemd. Things I changed:
    1. in wpa_supplicant.conf I updated from '/var/run' to '/run' and added 'fast_reauth=1' and 'ap_scan=1'
    2. in my networkprofile I added 'TIMEOUT=10' and 'DHCP_TIMEOUT=20'
    3. finally I enabled dhcpcd: I think this one actually did it. It was never was in the array of rc.conf though

  • [Solved] Netcfg switches between interfaces

    Hello,
    I switched to netcfg, to get a pure systemd install.
    How ever, sometimes the netcfg can't bring up the interface even though it used that interface before.
    It's like netcfg are switching between what interface it can use. Sometimes it's eth0 other times eth1.
    So when I boot and don't have any network connection, I change the config files to use the other interface (ex. eth1) and netcfg can connect.
    How can this be?
    configs:
    /etc/network.d/mynetwork

  • [SOLVED]How to add multiple gateways in Arch

    Hi, can someone please advise how to add multiple gateway address for multiple interfaces.
    In my case I have two wired LAN cards. I use Arch network daemon to manage my NIC's.
    I know in Gentoo it could be done through : 'gateway_ethX=( "default gw xx.xx.xx.xx dev ethX" )'
    but doing so in arch wont connect to router/gateway.
    Also in rc.conf it says :
    # Routes to start at boot-up (in this order)
    # Declare each route then list in ROUTES
    #   - prefix an entry in ROUTES with a ! to disable it
    How to declare each route, and then how to list it in ROUTES?
    I read the following thread:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=52992, but after adding the suggested lines in rc.conf and restarting the network it fails and says hostname not found.
    Thanks.

    In that case, your routing table should look something like this:

    0.0.0.0 192.168.1.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1
    rc.conf:
    eth0="eth0 192.168.1.14 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255"
    eth1="eth1 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
    INTERFACES=(eth0 eth1)
    # You may need to add 'dev eth1' to the end of this after '.1.1'
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    ROUTES=(gateway)

    Hi guys,
    I've got a problem installing the drivers for my litle HP deskjet 3050. I seem to be going around in circles.
    I've had this problem before but solved it.....although I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. This time around I just can't seem to knock it on it's head.
    The problem began after I reloaded an older system image backup after my HDD crashed (which I've replaced with a hybrid HDD). The printer wouldn't work from the moment I first tried after the reload.
    I've followed every instruction on this forum I can find, from uninstalling, stopping/starting the spooler servie, cleaning out temporary files, switching off the firewall (including Norton Antivirus), reinstalling the software (which fails),etc.....nothing seems to get passed the point of the driver installation.
    Have you guys got any ideas on what I must be overlooking?

  • ICMPv6 RA: ndisc_router_discovery() failed to add default route

    I have the rv215w and have it setup on our network. I have downloaded and installed the latest firmware prior to putting the router in place. The issue I have though ius I keep getting "ICMPv6 RA: ndisc_router_discovery() failed to add default route" repeatedly in the logs. I have it set to dhcp and not sure what I need to do to resolve this issue.

    I have the same issue.  In my case, as I posted here, IPv6 only seems to work on the main VLAN, but not on the other(s).  I wonder if this "ICMPv6 RA" error is referring to the default route that fails to install on the extra VLAN(s), but of course I am not exactly sure.

  • Get IPv6 gateway address on Windows XP

    Hi guys,
    Windows XP supports IPv6, but if I want to get the IPv6 gateway address linked to an adapter I've a big problem:
    GetAdaptersInfo can get the gateway address but works only with IPv4
    GetAdaptersAddresses works with IPv6 and can get the gateway address, but the related parameter FirstGatewayAddress of its structure ip_adapter_addresses was added only on Windows Vista and later
    Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration WMI class can retrieve IPV6 gateway address but it is available only from Vista
    What can I do?

    No simple way, basically, on XP+ use GetAdaptersAddresses, it adds ipv6.
    XP has been end of support by MS, so maybe upgrading OS is a better way to promote things forward.

  • [solved] Makepkg fails to sign package w/o asking password.

    I'm not sure when exactly this issue really started happening, but it was somewhere around the time that the new versions of Pacman and gnupg came out (a few weeks).
    I have a local ~/.makepkg.conf configured to sign any package I build with my key. The issue is that once any package completes building, and it is ready to be signed, I will sometimes be presented with a Pinentry screen to enter my password for signing the package and sometimes it will just fail to sign the package without ever asking for my password. There is no indication as to why it failed in the terminal output nor in the journal.
    This is happening on both of my Arch systems, so I know it's not just a localized issue with my one computer.

    Ok, thanks. My confusion was because I was unaware that makepkg was simply a bash script.
    I did what you suggested, and copied it to my home directory, edited the create_signature section to add the --verbose option and changed it to output to stdout. I added --verbose, --debug-level guru, and --log-file options to my gpg-agent.conf file. I ran the makepkg process twice, and as expected it asked for a password the first attempt and failed immediately on the second attempt. When it should be loading a cached password, it is bombing out with a "Broken pipe" error.

  • Add-on Status is Failed, but Add-on is connected

    Good Day!
    Hi Experts,
    I had created an installer for my Add-on for the client. This is a project from SAP B1 Studio.
    SAP B1 version is 9.0 PL11.
    1. The add-on is running ok in Debug Mode.
    2. I've successfully created an ARD File.
    3. Successfully installed ARD File.
    4. On Add-on Manager, when I tried to click Start, the add-on says Incorrect Connection String for Add-on. Even if the Status is Failed, the Add-on still executes. It still displays the custom form, the events, CFL etc.
    I've used the SAPBouicom.Dll in my debug folder, and I ensured the latest SAP B1 Studio and DI API is installed (PL11). I even removed the old files and reinstalled but the same result appears.
    Your help is greatly appreciated in this matter.

    i had already a Debug Code in my Environment.
    Dim sConnectionString As String
    SboGuiApi = New SAPbouiCOM.SboGuiApi
    sConnectionString = Environment.GetCommandLineArgs.GetValue(1).ToString
                    Try
                        SboGuiApi.Connect(sConnectionString)
                        ' Causes an Error Here but if I don't terminate the Add-on here, the Add-on will still run
                    Catch ex As Exception
                             'System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("No SAP Business One Application was found")
                             'End
                        Try
    SBO_Application = SboGuiApi.GetApplication()

  • Failed to configure IPv6 interface(s): eri1 - how to debug?

    I have a problem configuring the second network interface for IPv6 under Solaris 10. The first interface, eri0, is configured and works fine. The second one, eri1, has a link-local address but no global address. Both links are up and working, I can ping eri1 via IPv4 (10.0.1.9) from an external host.

    Thank you for the answer! I've found an option 'local-mac-address?' (the question mark is a part of the parameter name) in the 'ok' prompt.
    More info for next generations:
    1. Get to the 'ok prompt' (OpenBoot prom)
    2. Type 'printenv' to see the current settings, look for 'local-mac-address?'
    3. Set the parameter to 'true': 'setenv local-mac-address? true'
    4. Type printenv again to see if the option was actually changed
    This option is also described in Gentoo OBP reference:
    http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-sparc-obpreference.xml
    Thanks!

    at the end of the database instance installation SAPInst is doing some RFCs to the CI.
    The logfile states that the gateway on host hostSAP with the systemnumber 09 is not reachable.
    Please check if you have started the central instance on this machine.
