[SOLVED] NetworkManager will not connect to Mobile Broadband (o2)

I cannot get Networkmanager to connect to mobile broadband (o2).
Everything works fine if I open a terminal, do "sudo wvdial o2", minimize it, and then open Firefox.
Networkmanager (nm-applet) shows the connection to o2, but if I select it, it just instantly responds with "Network Disconnected". I have checked the settings for the mobile broadband connection, and they are the same as in wvdial.
I have also tried logging in as root, and tried from there, but I still get the same resuilt.
I would be very grateful for any help with this problem.

As if by magic, the latest updates have solved the problem. I've no idea how, but everything is now working perfectly.
Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to think about this problem for me.

Okay ... it's a better bet with a 1067 error message when trying to start the Apple Mobile Device Service, but we'd better check for a LSP issue, as per the following document:

  • Lightroom 5.1.1 will not connect to mobile sign-in screen

Lightroom 5.1.1 running on Windows 8.1 R2 will not connect to the mobile sign in screen. All I get is a window that says "connecting..." and it never connects. Any ideas on a workaround or a fix?
Related, Lightroom Mobile will not sync. I just get a perpetual "Looking for collections" message.

This worked … 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 3.0 were checked; 2.0 was not. I checked 2.0 and the log in worked. Now all that happens is that it crashes when trying to sync. Is there a limit on the number of photos that can be synced?
    Thanks

  • [Solved] NetworkManager does not connect wlan interface to my WLAN

    Hi,
I don't know what I am missing. Connecting to my WLAN using wifi-menu does work fine. But if I try to use nm-applet it doesn't connect (see journalctl below)
I use i3 as a GUI and enabled its tray. I can see the nm-applet but its loading forever without connectivity.

Don't worry, I have done this before too.  It is horribly frustrating until you realize the problem, at which time I always think, "Ah crap, I need to pay attention to what I'm doing more..."

  • New Thinkpad W530 order direct from Lenovo with integrated mobile will not connect to broadband

I purchased a W530 with integrated mobile and have been trying to connect with various networks to no avail. I have a Type 2436-CTO S/N xxxxxxx 13/08 and Windows 8 came installed when I received. I have upgraded BIOS and everything that Lenovo solutions says I need to update.
The MEID is A1xxxxxxxxxxx. It came with an integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355-Gobi 3000 modem. I have downloaded an updated driver for Windows 8 for the MC8355. I have spoken with almost every Lenovo technical person as well as taken the computer to various network stores and so far no one can figure out why it won't connect to Verizon.
Verizon says I'm active and the computer error message says I am not active. Every tech has tried to look at the system by logging into my computer and no one can figure it out. The device manager says the MC8355 is working. Interesting when it was shipped to me it also had an AT&T sim card installed. After I had signed up with AT&T and one mo of paying for service they determined it would not work on their network. Finally someone told me to take the AT&T sim card out and it still will not connect.
Verizon tells me I do not need a sim card as I have the MC8355 but they can't tell me why I can't connect. Now I've paid for Verizon service for one month and still cannot connect. Everything else works fine with the W530. I've owned ThinkPads exclusively since the first one ever came out. I've never not been able to connect to mobile broadband with any others. I also went through about two weeks of trying to connect with Lenovo Mobile Access and that did not work because I'm running Windows 8. Finally a nice gentleman called me from LMA to tell me it will not work after all the time of connecting and being on the road. I could go back to an old ThinkPad to travel with but I'm determined to get my new one to connect. Any more advice or anything anyone can tell me try?

  • Iphone6 with 8.1.1 will not connect to wi-fi or mobile provider

my iphone6 os8.1.1 will not connect to wi-fi or mobile provider.

That's not much to go on. Did it ever connect? What troubleshooting have you done? Does it connect to all WiFi networks except one (your home network, perhaps), or does it fail to connect to any WiFi network? Do other networks show in the list if you go to Settings/WiFi?
Start with Settings/General/Reset - Reset Network Settings, which is the only setting in common to both WiFi and cellular.

I upgraded to Maverick and now Time Machine will not connect to the external hard drive to back up files.  The external hard drive is a Western Digital "My Book Live" 2 TB.  How do I solve problem?

I also had problem accessing my WD MyBookLive after upgrading to Maverick.
To resolve the problem, I used  Connect To Server (Cmd K) to specify the IP address.
Then I enter a user id and password I created in the MyBookLive.
You can also verify that you have admin access to the MyBookLive using Safari or Chrome.
Just enter the MyBookLive IP address as the URL.

  • Can't connect to mobile broadband with NetworkManager and Huawei E1550

    Hi,
I'm trying to connect to mobile broadband internet (3G) using my Huawei E1550 HSDPA USB Stick and NetworkManager but it won't work.
At first, the LED on the usb device seems to indicate that the connection is established, but immediately afterwards it starts blinking again (which shows that no connection is established).
nm-applet then tells me that I've been disconnected (although the connection was never established).
I installed usb_modeswitch and modemmanager and enabled modemmanager with the systemctl command.
The ID of the device is 12d1:140c, which is supposed to be right after the modeswitch.

  • HTC Rezound Will not Connect to Internet via Mobile Network

    Hi,
I recently provided my phone to my youngest son so I went to Verizon and got a new sim card and had them set it up.  Everything worked for about a week or so.  Now the phone will not connect to the internet via the mobile network.  The only way he can connect to the internet is via the WiFi.
I have checked all settings and it all seems fine.  I also did 2 factory resets and still no go. I removed the Sim card, booted up phone and turned back off, re-installed the sim card and booted again.  Still same problem.  Signal strength is good but the 4g or 3g doesn't show up like it used to.  When I click on internet it says network not available and tries to bring up the WiFi.
Do I need a new Sim card?  Is the phone messed up?  Anyone have any idea?

I was having the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy. After reading some other threads, I removed my original SIM card and started up the phone until the home screen tells you the SIM card is missing (Emergency calls only). Switch it off, put the SIM card back in and restarted the phone. Got my mobile internet (4GLTE) coverage straight away.
Hope if works for you too!
    Good luck.

    Robert,
It would be helpful if you provided additional information about the type of hardware, and software you are using.
Also give more information about steps you may have taken in troubleshooting your problem.

Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • S860 and X2, Google not connecting on mobile network.

I live in Sweden. Had my S860 for 3 years and it has been working fine but some months ago it was not connecting on mobile network with crome and play store. Restart and it could work for some time the it was gone again. At the same time Hotspot, skype and OS update is working fine. Got a new sim card i november but it did not help. This was going more and more bad and finally it did not work at all. Tried to reverse OS a few steps back and still not working. So i tought that it was something to do with hardware. Now i bought a Vibe X2. Away from sweden for the moment (Saudi Arabia) but this one does the same when I try to connect. OS update working but Crome says ssl error and Play Store just wont connect. Saw some forums said it might be time and date that was wrong so i tried to change to local format but it was the same. My S860 i was waiting for 6 month before i could buy it (not for sale in Sweden) in Saudi. Haas been very pleased with it so now when it has been messing with me i had no problem to buy a new Lenovo phone. This time just waiting 3 month before i could buy it in Saudi. Hope this is something I can get some help to solve. /Nils

    How did you do that?.
    Can you install THIS ->Open the app->MTK Settings->Telephony/BandMode->SIM 1(Do the same for SIM2) and make a screenshot(Power&Volume-) ->post the screenshot here.Thanks

  • Ethernet has self assigned IP Address, will not connect to internet?

Ethernet has a self assigned IP Address and will not connect to the internet.
    I am on -  Mac os X - 10.7.5
Using a BT Broadband Router, my power mac is connected to the network via TP-Link Plug POWERLINE. This has worked great for ever!
A week ago, my web connection dropped, network settings say "Ethernet 1 is active and has a self assigned IP Address and will not connect to the internet"
This seems to be a popular thread and I have followed all the answers I can find and the problem remains.
I also run a Powerbook on the wireless internet and other appliances such as, iPads, iPhones, and the wireless is fine.
My sky box and Xbox 360 (both ethernet via TP-Link) also have NO connection.
When I turn my laptops wireless off and try the ethernet cable (tried a new one too) instead, there is the same SELF-ASSIGNED IP ADDRESS issue.
This point me to the router or TP-Link network.  I have replaced the router, same errors.
On my Powermac I have -
Deleted 'system configuration from the system folder - as advised by apple.
Tried swapping from DCHP, DCHP Manual and renewing lease etc.
Could anyone help at all? I am lost now as how to solve the problems.
All my TP-Link power line extenders show the correct lights, i.e., all on and yellow.
I am not experienced in networks, this is driving me mad now!
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    A

    Open System Preferences/Network
Select the Location you use at home
You may need to click the Padlock bottom left at this point if it's locked, enter the admin password to unlock
In the left hand column drag the Ethernet connection to the top of the list and remove any you don't use
Click the Advanced button bottom right
    Click the TCP/IP Tab
Set Configure IPv4 to Using DHCP
Click OK bottom right and you should see the Router IP number appear and a unique but similar one for your Mac
Click Ok then click Apply and close the Panel
