[SOLVED] No sound (with flash)
Hello.
I have no sound with flash. It does work elsewhere.
I am using ALSA.
My flash should output audio correctly according to wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fl … d_in_Flash

EDIT: I'm retarded. I didn't add my user to audio group. And sound elsewhere was from speaker-test which needs SU.

Orrrr it's because the flash plugin uses OSS.
run `aoss firefox` and be happy.
OSS does still work or at least the alsa backwards compatibility layer that emulates the old interfaces, right? did i miss anything?
for newer versions of flash (like version 9) simply install firefox in wine and let it install the plugin. that usually works great!

Hi,
I'm back with a new problem. On a Gateway laptop running Windows XP, I have no sound with Flash. Sounds are coming through on Media player and with web sites home page. When I play a you tube vid or email vid there is no sound? ????
Thanks for your help.I did the ten step codec cleaning, I think you posted that originally if not
I'll dig up the link, sorry I'm at work. After that I ran malwarebytes (no
malware), then I accessed the audio properties under the control panel and
monkeyed with them, they'd been changed to modem#0 from my normal semantec
harware. I changed that and rebooted and everything was seemingly okay.
However, the little speaker icon had disappeared from the tray about the
same time my audio problems had started and has never returned so there may
be deeper issues.
Here<http://www.codecguide.com/fix_for_flash_sound_problems.htm> is
the codec link I was referring to. Hope this helps. D -
No sound with Flash Player under OSS in Linux
Flash 9 & Flash10 under OSS 4.1 with Opera or Firefox.
No sound at all on any flash using website. Websites such as
the BBC that have some content in RealAudio or Windows Media
formats work absolutely fine for non-Adobe content but Flash player
content produces no sound.
All other audio software works flawlessly - Skype, Real
Player, Mplayer, Kaffeine, Wine, Games (ETQW, Doom3 etc), Helix,
RhythmBox, Rosegarden.
Whatever the fault is, it's an Adobe fault - fix it.Ditto with me. No sound with Flash Player in both IE and
Firefox. Sound works with other applications. -
No sound with Flash 11.3 - Sound card conflict?
After updating to Flash 11.3 (11.3.300.257) on a Dell desktop on April 10 there was no sound in Firefox, Chrome or Safari. There was sound in Internet Explorer (IE9). I think I have determined that the source of my sound problems was some kind of conflict between Flash 11.3, my sound card and the three browsers above. My sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE.
If audio was output through the Dell's built-in sound there was sound with Flash 11.3. If audio was output through the sound card there was no sound with Flash 11.3.
I also have an HP notebook computer (no sound card; HP says current notebooks use built-in sound) running Windows 7 (64). I downloaded Flash 11.3 from: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ on April 16 and have sound on Firefox, IE9, Chrome and Safari.
There have, however, been two crashes reported on Firefox.
On two computers my experience has been that if audio is being output through the computer's built-in sound that sound works all right in Flash 11.3 .
If you are having problems with sound in Flash 11.3 please describe the problems, system information and details about any sound card you are using.
Maybe the good people at Adobe will provide some guidance about what information they would like to see here. Here are more details in case these might help users or the Adobe team.
Prior to updating to Flash 11.3 I had 11.2 on Windows Vista (32) on a Dell E510 desktop with external speakers connected to the sound card. There were never any problems with sound with Flash 11.2 or previous versions. Drivers on the sound card are up to date.
I filed a bug report about the sound issues on April 11, number 3210981.
Also, there are 15 crash reports on my Firefox browser from April 10 to 14 (accessed by typing "about:crashes" in the address bar) .
I reverted to Flash 10.3 on April 14 and there was sound in IE, Firefox and Safari. There was no sound in Chrome which had automatically updated to Flash 11.3
On April 17 I did an experiment.
When external speakers were connected to the Sound Blaster Audigy sound card (and the sound control panel was set to "Speakers SB Audigy") there was no sound in Chrome (Flash 11.3).
When the speakers were connected to the computer's built-in sound output (and the sound control panel was set to the computer's built-in audio, "Speakers SigmaTel...") there was sound in Chrome (Flash 11.3). Note: restart may be required for changes in the sound control panel to take effect.
There was sound in Firefox with Flash 10.3 with either configuration.
Finally, I physically removed the sound card and connected the speakers to the computer's built-in output. (I probably didn't need to physically remove the sound card but I wanted to anyway.) I updated to Flash 11.3 and now I have sound in Firefox, IE9, Chrome and Safari.
It remains to be seen if there will still be crashes on Firefox. -
No sound with Flash and flash players..
I've just installed Flash 8 and the player for my intel based
mac and the sound worked for a few hours, I could hear sound both
in the fla and swf, but then suddenly it didn't work and there is
no sound with Flash at all, not through a browser or anything (all
other file types and sound in general work on machine). Very
frustrating, any ideas of what can cause it? I've reinstalled Flash
and no luck so far and it's HOT and sweaty in Oslo..can anyone help i have no sound in windows but i have sound in games fine

I updated Flash yesterday to the newest version. My computer speakers work fine. I get no sound with flash video. So far I have tried most things listed. Still no sound. My flash video sound worked fine four days ago before the update. I was not able to reinstall an older version of Flash. My computer with XP has Flash sound. Is this going to get fixed?

Easiest is to do a System Restore to a date before the update. -
No sound with Flash Player (on line only) on Vista
No sound with Flash Player on both IE and Firefox online

On local hard disk, all is OK.
The firefox "about:cache" command on the mp3 file info says :

nah. Those steps didn't help me fix the issue. downgrading Firefox to 33.1.1 did however. -
No sound with Flash 9 with embedded video?
this is very strange. i cannot get any sound w/ Flash Player
9 in Internet Explorer (IE) with playing embedded video. problem
occurs with many websites with embedded youtube or other flash
videos. when those sites are loaded, the sound bar was set to zero,
but there is no sound even if i drag it to a higher level. yet,
when the same video is played from youtube directly, it works
perfectly.
when i uninstall Flash 8 or 9 and reinstall an older version
such as Flash 7, the sound plays perfectly without problem in all
website wth the sound bar set to the correct level.
i am running win xp professional sp2. latest updates/patches
installed. ie 6.
i have tried the following:
1. the k-lite codec trick - does not work.
2. scanned for virus/spyware - none found.
3. uninstall all Flash w/ adobe uninstaller and reinstall the
latest build - does not work.
4. clean out all registry entries related to flash and
reinstall - does not work
5. deleted quicktime - does not work

Hello,
After installing Flash Player 9 (extra/flashplugin 9.0.31.0-1), I get no sound when viewing flash content. I have verified this against multiple web sites. I can view the flash video with no problems.
The sound on my previous flash version was fine. Also, the sound on my other applications (multimedia and games) still works fine. My alsa configuration has not changed (to the best of my knowledge).
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks for your responses twiistedkaos & mouse256. I launched firefox from the command line, but no error messages were received when viewing flash content. Also, I do not have additional flash support installed (only the latest flash plugin from the extra repository).
I am loading modules snd_emu10k1 and snd_pcm_oss in rc.conf. If I remove (do not load) snd_emu10k1, then I get sound from flash, but no sound from media or games. When I load snd_emu10k1, then I have sound in media and games, but no sound from flash.
This has turned out to be an alsa configuration issue. My flash 9 sound is fine now. -
No sound with Flash in Firefox - making me crazy
No sound plays from any flash objects in Firefox (so, that
includes sites with flash videos like youtube or other sites like
homestarrunner.com, etc). Here's what I've tried:
--I can play music from my hard drive (so it's not a problem
with my speakers or audio settings). Also, Flash works fine (video
AND audio) in IE.
--Disabled and then uninstalled all extensions (so it's not a
problem with an add-on)
--Uninstalled and then reinstalled FF
--Emptied all temp files, recycle bin, cleared cache, etc.
--Ran CCleaner and cleared cache of Flash
--Searched this forum for potential causes of the problem
("no audio" and "no sound")--looks like a lot of people have had
this problem, and there isn't a consensus regarding the cause or
the best solution.
--Note: I don't have Audacity installed, and the setting on
my sound card is set at 48000 Hz.
I'm using FF 2.0.0.4, Flash version 9.0.45.0 (the most recent
version), and Vista. The problem started suddenly about a week ago;
I can't think what could have triggered it. I wasn't downloading
crap, not surfing sketchy sites, I don't know.
Anyone have any ideas? I don't spend a lot of time on sites
like youtube, but it's the principle of it... it "should" work, and
it's making me crazy that I can't figure out why it's not working.
I would be really grateful if anyone could give me suggestions
about what else to try. Give it your best shot... it's a
brainteaser :-) I'm willing to try pretty much anything, save
reinstalling the OS.
Thanks so much!I read somewhere that, in the registry, there should be "a
subkey named wavemapper which has a string value of msacm32.drv."
Yep, that's in place.
I've also started Firefox in safe mode, which disables all
add-ons, etc. Still no sound.
The more I read around, this seems to be a pretty common
problem, except none of the solutions seem to work for me! Any
input? Anyone?
Thanks in advance. -
No sound with Flash 15 and Windows 8
No sound with Flashplayer 15 and Windows 8. I have followed the steps to enable the program and to disable Active X filtering and still no sound. Sound works on all other applications.
The Adobe website instructions refer to a way to troubleshoot sound that cannot be followed -- see the inserted text below -- it refers to an application below and there is no application shown on the page.
Can someone please help?
How do I test my speakers?
Click Test Speaker in the application shown below to hear a sample sound. Adjust your speakers or headset so the sound is at a comfortable level.
How can I display this panel again?
You may want to display this panel again if, for example, you want Flash Player to use a different microphone. To display the Microphone panel:
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Macintosh) the application image while it is playing.
From the context menu, select Settings, and then click the Microphone tab.
I don't see the Microphone tab, so I can't display this panel.
If your computer or device doesn't support audio recording using Flash Player, you cannot select a microphone to use, and this panel doesn't appear.Hi
Is the sound card recognized properly in device manager or can you see yellow exclamation marks there?
I have founded an interesting article on the Toshiba website regarding no sound:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB7C021B0001R01.htm
By the way: You can also mute/unmute the sound if you press FN+Esc. Check this!!! -
[SOLVED]No Sound with ALSA - Intel Corporation 82801G HD Audio
Hey all,
I've succesfully installed Arch Linux. My past two attempts have met with failure, all because of my own failure to read and follow directions correctly. This time everything is installed correctly. I am running Kdemod3 on my laptop with Arch and everything works great. I LOVE Pacman and the simplicity of Arch's configuration files. It's super fast and all together simple. My only remaining problem is this:
My sound with ALSA is not functioning. I followed the installation instructions at the arch wiki and after unmuting all of my channels I still would not get any sound. My sound module is snd_hda_intel and it is detected, loaded and the whole nine yards (as far as I can tell). My user is a member of the 'audio' user group also. I looked at the troubleshooting tips on the bottom of the Wiki but decided not to try them as they do not seem to pertain to my card (snd_hda_intel) but I will try them if anyone would like me to.
If anyone has any ideas, they'd be greatly appreciated!:D Anything I can provide that you need I will be more than willing to provide.
Thanks for such a great distribution,
Dan
