[SOLVED]No suitable archive manager found

I seem to be stuck in a vicious circle here. I am trying to set up Xarchiver because when I try to extract packages I get the error "No suitable archive manager found" It seems as though there is no archive managers that I can install with pacman. So the other way is to extract the downloaded xarchiver package into a folder and run makepkg and then use the resulting pacman. Of course in that process I have to extract the package......
Which is an obvious problem because if I can't extract the package and I need an archive manager to extract the package but I have to extract the xarchiver package to install it....
Well you get it.

No, you don't need an archive manager to extract a package.
You really should ask yourself if Arch is the distro for you. Turning to the forums to solve every issue you encounter must be as tiring for you as it is draining for the community...

Your installation of LiveCycle is not successful. It looks like LiveCycle has no access to the Global Document Storage folder that has been defined in the LCM (LiveCycle Configuration Manager).
Here are instructions on how to verify that a LiveCycle installation actually works:

  • Archive Management Collection

    Hi !!
In my setup there are LMS 3.1, ACS 5.0 & a few switches. For some of the switches login is to be authenticated via ACS, for rest of the switches login is through locally configured username database.
For the switches which are not integrated with the ACS every thing & archive management is happening properly as for them the device credentials are given to be locally configured username & password, whereas for the switches which are integrated with the ACS everything is proper except of the archive management, here for the device credentials I have given the username & password configured in ACS
I have cross checked for the credentials via exporting them & they are found to be ok.
Is there something I missed out?
    Pls suggest.
    thanks in advance!

If you are using telnet for archive management, start a sniffer trace filtering on all tcp/23 traffic to one of the problem devices, then run a new Sync Archive job.  The trace file should indicate where things are failing.

  • Is adjusting permissions for LightRoom based archive management worthwhile?

I'm trying to set up an archive that is managed through a LightRoom Catalog. I was wondering if anyone has done this before and adjusted the permissions of their files to read only to ensure that LightRoom Catalog metadata changes do not alter or get saved to files.
I plan to have the archive set up in 3 locations with copies of the LightRoom Catalog. I will need to be able to add keywords and collections to a catalog at 2 of the locations. I am interested in using permissions to ensure that the catalog is the only file that needs to travel between the locations. I don't want to get into a situation in which altering the LightRoom Catalog might alter files and necessitate that I either save new metadata to files with each keyword/collection addition or that I regularly synchronize the entire archive to ensure all 3 copies of the archive are mirrors of one another.
I have three serious concerns about the longterm viability of managing file permissions:
    1. I worry that it will be difficult to manage the user/s who have the privileges to manage these permissions and that it will be difficult to do so in different locations and on different computers
    2. I worry about whether permissions management might introduce some form of file corruption
    3. I worry about the time involved in altering an entire archives worth of permissions to read only and the time involved in reversing this every time I want to unarchive content for new projects
I have also posted this question to Luminous Landscape here: Adjusting Permissions for LightRoom Catalog Based Archive Managment. Worthwhile?

... and adjusted the permissions of their files to read only to ensure that LightRoom Catalog metadata changes do not alter or get saved to files.
By default, Lightroom does not write anything to your photo files. Of course, there's no way to prevent a user from changing this default behavior and writing information to the files. I suppose making the directories read-only helps, but people could still change that. If the directories are on a server, then only the server admin could change the permissions.
    2. I worry about whether permissions management might introduce some form of file corruption
I never heard of such a thing, but this is an operating system issue, not a Lightroom issue.
I worry about the time involved in altering an entire archives worth of permissions to read only and the time involved in reversing this every time I want to unarchive content for new projects
I don't think you understand how Lightroom works. There would be no need to reverse anything to "unarchive" the content  — although in my opinion, the idea of "archiving" content in the first place doesn't feel right ... if the photos are imported into Lightroom at one time, leave them in Lightroom, don't go through an archive process removing the photos from Lightroom followed by unarchive process, that is something that is ineffective and causes numerous problems with non-expert users. When you import photos into Lightroom, the photos still remain on your hard disk somewhere, Lightroom does not actually keep a copy of the photo. Lightroom keeps pointers to the photo's locations and stores any metadata and edits. Removing a photo from Lightroom (archiving) is the equivalent of deleting the metadata and edits, and I cannot see a reason to do that.
So, bottom line, to answer your title question, "Is adjusting permissions for Lightroom based archive management worthwhile?" — without further discussion of your setup and goals, I see no reason to even spend your time on this, unless you are the server admin of the location where the photos are stored, in which case then the answer is go right ahead and make them read-only.

  • Solaris 8 Intel Installation Error: No suitable hard drives found

    HI!
I was trying to install the free Solaris 8 Intel Edition from CD. All devices were recognized. Afterwards, however, I get the message that no suitable place was found to store the installation image. What should a hard disk look like in order to qualify for Solaris?
My system contains several hard drives. The first one, were I would like to install Solaris, is empty without any partitions. Under normal cicumstances (Linux, Windows), I would assume that this is the best possible case for a new operationg system...
    Best regards
    Klaus

    Klaus,
I am having the exact same problem as you. I have the official Solaris CDs from Sun, but am not able to install Solaris on my PC. Installation progresses quite far - including screen, keyboard, time configuration - but then fails saying that it can't find any suitable HDDs.
I too, have two HDDs, one with Windows XP on it, and the other completely blank. However the Solaris installation does not recognise either of them.
I've even tried dis-connecting the Windows HDD in case it may have interfered somehow, but it has no affect.
Please see me message titled 'Intel Installation - Identifying HDDs' which I posted on this forum on 10th November. I haven't received any help on this issue.

No information was found about optical archiving. This may be due to

        1.  No valid archiving parameters were passed
        2.  Your system is not configured for optical archiving
    System Response
        Processing is cancelled.
    Procedure
Specify valid archiving parameters or check whether your system is configured for optical archiving
    Regds,

    Hello,
You are trying to Print & also archive by selecting the option Print & Archive.
You have to do archivelink configurations and then create document type and assign to the object type with content repository with archivelink table.
If you want to archive the spool or output then you have to use object type as DRAW. If you are archiving invoice document or letters or so on then you have to know the object type/Business object of the transaction.
Please note that for archivelink configuration, attachment will be either stored in archive server or in SAP database table based on business requirement.
Hope this will give you some understanding on archiving area.
    -Thanks,
    Ajay

  • CMS Import error: archive not found

    Hi experts,
trying to import components under Consolidation tab in CMS I get this error:
Feb 7, 2011 4:12:26 PM   Error  : error during loading of propagation request Exc=com.sap.cms.tcs.interfaces.exceptions.TCSFileNotFoundException: archive not found: D:\usr\sap\trans\EPS\in

    archive not found: CMS/archives/sap.comSAP-SHRWEBNWD_EAMM1DEV_D~6
Unfortunately all the *.pra files were deleted under CMS\archives.
Ho can I restore these archives?? Or what can I do? What are the *.pra achives for?
    Best Regards
    Mirko

    Hi Mirko,
I think the error comes not due to the pra files, but due to the missing sca files. Can you please try to recreate them in the way we have discussed? Assembly always takes the changes from cons/active, there's no way to change on this behaviour, i.e. there's nothing to be configured thisregarding. After import into cons a force activation takes place (i.e. in cons there's no need to do an explicit activation, the changes gets reflected after import automatically into cons/inactive as well as in cons/active)
