[SOLVED]NVIDIA Xorg Errors

I installed Xorg and the proprietary nvidia driver using the wiki, but when running xinit or startx I get errors such as  no nvidia.ko, unable to connect to X server, and Nos such process server error
Rebooted and works fine

New Progress!
I've managed to get my screen to go black during the server's run, instead of having my TTY just freeze!
I followed the instructions here
However, now I have the problem that the X server shuts down about two seconds after startup. I have confirmed that both of the xrandr commands are completed.
Here is my x log
Here is my x output
As you can see, we have "Screen 1 deleted because of no matching config section". I have no idea what that means.
The NVIDIA driver still appears to try setting mode "NULL" (maybe it isn't getting the available modes properly?)
At the end, there's this weird thing...
reporting 3 4 17 122
have a master to look out for
adjust shatters 0 1366
need to create shared pixmap 1(II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Deleting GPU-0
Uhhh...why is it deleting my GPU? (I have no idea what it means by that)
UPDATE (again!)...
I HAVE LWM WINDOWS APPEARING! (but I had to stop the nvidia to get that)
I changed the ServerLayout to have Screen 0 be the "intel" screen.
Initially, input wasn't being handled at all, resulting in complete inability to do anything once x started
I managed to get input working by adding some xorg configs for my input devices (now I have fully-functional xorg, but without my nvidia card)
I still want to get my nvidia working.

Other Notes: The laptop originally came with Windows 8. At the time, I didn't want to spend a whole lot of time installing Arch, so I chose Ubuntu for the time being. While Ubuntu was installed, I noticed that the driver being used was called "Mesa", and certain applications didn't like that (NCAR's VAPOR, for example). Perhaps there's a problem with the hardware that's causing Ubuntu to choose an alternate install system, and now I'm running into that?
    Problem...
    ====================================================
I've set everything up properly according to the Beginner's Guide, NVIDIA and Xorg pages.
    I run startx.
At "Loading extension GLX", the whole TTY freezes (stops redrawing, can tell because cursor freezes in current state <on/off>).
At this point, I can still switch TTYs with C-M-F<n>, so it's just that one TTY.
I can type "exit", <Enter>, and then the server dies dramatically.
Here's the full output from the server, which had to be unjumbled by redirecting all output to a file
Here's my /var/log/Xorg.0.log, recovered after the test
I was even able to retrieve this glxinfo output by piping to a file!
Again, I was typing blind, so there's no real guarantee that the glxinfo output is, in fact, glxinfo output...
    Analysis...
    ====================================================
I have no idea what the problem is on the server's shutdown, but I've got ideas about the rest of it.
I figure what's happening is that the server is starting just fine, but it isn't putting output on my monitor. It opens the twm environment, which starts with an open terminal. When I type "exit", <Enter>, the server shuts down again, as expected, but something goes wrong.
That's how it occurred to me to grab that glxinfo: 'glxinfo > ~/test'
Does the following mean that it's actually using the Intel graphics? (found this in Xorg log)
[  1571.248] (--) PCI:*(0:0:2:0) :::this refers to the Intel graphics
    [  1571.248] (--) PCI: (0:1:0:0) :::this refers to the 610M
What does that asterisk (*) mean?
Does this line mean that my graphics card isn't hooked up to my monitor?
    [  1571.383] (--) NVIDIA(0): Valid display device(s) on GeForce 610M at PCI:1:0:0
    [  1571.383] (--) NVIDIA(0):     none
Maybe I need to configure my monitor to be detected somehow?
I noticed two errors in the Xorg log that might be related...
[  1571.385] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initiate mode change.
[  1571.385] (EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to complete mode change
Maybe there's a simple package installation that will fix everything?
If there's any more information you need, please ask.
    Thanks!
    PS: wgetpaste was EXTREMELY helpful!

  • (SOLVED) Compiz, GLX error even tough i start compiz with LIBGL_AWLAYS

    Hi,
I have tried to read trough the wiki, google and forum. I cant get this to be solved?
    I installed compis with:
    # pacman -S compiz-fusion-gtk (no to emerald, emerald-themes and compiz-fusion-plugins-extra)
made sure metacity compositioning was off with gconf
    then i added these:
    gconftool-2 --set -t string /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager compiz
    gconftool-2 --set -t string /desktop/gnome/applications/window_manager/current /usr/bin/compiz
    gconftool-2 --set -t string /desktop/gnome/applications/window_manager/default /usr/bin/compiz
    Have added these to xorg.conf
    ServerLayout:
    Option "AIGLX" "true"
    Device:
    Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true"
    Option "DRI" "true"
    Option "Accelmethod" "EXA"
added a section called "Extension" where i added:
    Option "Composite" "Enable"
    and a section "DRI" :
    group "video"
    mode 0660
If i launch compiz with :
    LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1 compiz --replace --indirect-rendering
I still get the glx error! And i dont have the window borders. Read from the troubleshooting to activate the window decaritons, rezise and move, still the same.
Running Gnome with slim. And how should i launch the fusion-icon with a parameter? (ie LIBGL..) i get an error?
My specs: Dell d420, intel gma945 express
    sincerely, THANKS!
#update 1: Dont know how, but it kinda works now think the problem was something with compiz-dekorator-gtk.
now my problem is, how to add it to startup?

    Solved:
_NO_ xorg.conf. -Also synaptics driver, and im loading into the environment from inittab. These did the trick !

  • How i can solve 6753 airport error

how i can solve 6753 airport error?

IIRC, it's not uncommon to spot this after a firmware update to 7.6.1.  And IIRC, wasn't there a 7.6.2 release today?  Unplug the express, plug it back in, and generally this should self-resolve.

  • How to solve Audition CS6 error "The amount of audio to burn will not fit on the CD........."?

I have a brand new PC that is MORE than adequate. I have once succeeded in burning a CD after learning all about time tracks and merging them. (made a few with only ONE track)
    Two things:
    1) I find that I must add a CD marker at the end of the WAV because Audition CS6 erases whatever is the last CD marker I've made. Very frustrating but now I know I have to do this but I have no idea WHY!!
    2) Right now I have a WAV that is just over 1 hour and 3 minutes with a total of 637.74MB of info. When I try to export/burn a CD, I get an error message stating "The amount of audio to burn will not fit.......".  I am using TDK 700MB blanks with a Pioneer Blu-ray burner.
    Obviously it will fit.
What am I doing wrong, all of a sudden?

    Hey ryclark,
Thanks for responding. Something else is going on here.....
    Here's what I re-replied to our friend...
    Thanks for the response.
When I built this computer last Nov/Dec, it was built with the second
fastest Intel 7i, quad-core chipset on an 64-bit ASUS motherboard. It's  running
Win 7 Pro. It has a 500GB SSD "C" drive with another 14 TB of true hard
drive space. It is set up with 64 bit. I had been using Audition CS3 for  many
years and even go back to it's origin: Cool Edit and Cool Edit Pro. My
learning curve was minimal, sans the CD burning, which I used other software
for  which is now antiquated, so I need Audition for this. Between this and
IZotope 3 I've repaired and improved many a recording. All-in-all extremely
    useful software.
As for the idea "to burn it anyway", well the error message comes up and
that's it - if I "X" out of that message and try to burn again the message
comes  back  - so Audition will not let me. It is convinced that this file is
longer than it really is, but only when I add track  marks to it!
    There are only 11 tracks.
I was able to burn a CD of this same file but without all the track marks,
so the same exact file length/size will burn, only as the one track.
I've also succeeded in burning other WAV's , both greater and smaller, with
and without multiple track marks, without issue. Of course all with less
    than the CD's max. capacity.
This problem seems to be with this one file. I've even  re-made/re-recorded
the file from scratch with no change. There's something else  going on here
that I can't put my finger on. (I am "recording" LP's and making  personal
    CDs of them)
Also, only from time to time, I have another error after burning a CD that
states it could not verify the CD. For this I assume it is the blank rather
than AA? The first might burn without issue and with the second burn I
get the error. It is near the end of a stack of blanks, so.....
As for the need to "mark the end" of the file makes a lot of sense but of
all the other CD track-marking software I've used, none needed one to do
this,  but this IS Adobe after all.
You'd think there might be a smidge of intuitiveness with Adobe, but maybe
    not.

  • How to solve the 404 error

    Hi,
How to catch or solve the 404 error in application.
Some time we are giving some file name but that file is not avialable at that time it will give 404 error. how to avoid this error.
If 404 error comes i want call some other file. Is it posible.
    Thanks Advance.

Yes, this is because IE 5.5 (?) and higher have this wacky "Show friendly HTTP error messages" setting. You can disable this by going to tools -> internet options -> advanced and unchecking "Show friendly HTTP error messages". However as the default IE setting has "Show friendly HTTP error messages" enabled this isn't a good solution.
I believe that if your error page is less than a certain size (in bytes) then IE defaults to it's own error page when "Show friendly HTTP error messages" are enabled. This size is something like 512 bytes or fewer in length.
So basically try making your error page larger (more than 512 bytes in size) and see if that works.

  • Photoshop CS6 crashes with nVidia OpenGL Error Code:3

CS6 13.0.1.1 64 bit is crashing from time to time with the nVidia OpenGL Error Code:3.
It most often occurs when waking the system if it entered sleep mode while Photoshop was running but I also get it without entering sleep mode and it doesn't happen every time which makes troubleshooting a problem.   I have to go in and kill the Photoshop.exe process as it remains running and prevents relaunching the program.    Fortunately in most cases I can recover the file due to the autosave feature but that just depends on when the problem happens.
I have installed the latest nVidia GeForce 8800 drivers without resoltuion.
I'd been using CS6 for some time before the crashes started and have rebuilt the system since they started.   Before rebuilding the system I mainly used 32 bit but am now using 64 bit exclusively.    It may have also started after a nVidia update that was carried in Windows 7 updates.    I have changed out the graphcis card with anohter 8800 so am sure it's a software issue.
If anyone has run in to this, I could really use some help resolving it.
    Thanks,
    Darvin Atkeson
    LiquidMoonlight.com

You're several updates behind -- please go install the Photoshop updates.
But it looks like the error might be in a driver (or something that jumps into unknown code) - so you might want to update your video card driver from the GPU maker's website. And make sure that any third party plugins you have installed are up to date.

  • "Error 16" solution doesn't solve problem, same error message pops up.  Further steps?

Steps followed: all Adobe products (CS6 Suite and CC) have been removed (w/uninstaller and manual Library cleanup) and reinstalled (from discs and downloads); permissions corrected as per KB note on Error 16, to no change. This occurred after updating Mac OS to 10.9x. The OS was then reinstalled, new admin & standard users created (MacPro hardware passes all tests). "Error 16" permission solution performed at every stage to no change in error generation. Adobe Reader, Lightroom 4, and CS6Bridge do launch, but Acrobat Professional, Photoshop (13, CS6), and CC Photoshop stop launch w/error 16.  Stumped!

Thanks for the suggestion, Gene, but it had no affect on the ³error 16²
situation, I¹m afraid.  I think I¹m going to have to start with a new drive
and import/update until I find the source of this issue.

  • HT201405 how to solve time machine error-1

how to solve time machine error-1

I checked the pondini fixes and ended up doing the following - in case this could help someone else with OSX Lion and Time Capsule... http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
First, I downloaded and used Airport Utility 5.6 instead of 6.1 - BTW, I had to attempt download and installation THREE times before the program actually installed.  Be persistant.
Pondini #5: It's possible some names (of all things!) may be a problem.    See item C9.  I had to re-name my Mac, Time Capsule, network, etc... to remove all apostrophes and spaces.
Pondini #7:  If you have WD SmartWare installed on Lion, it's not compatible, per RoaringApps, and there are reports it can cause this problem as well.   Use Western Digital's uninstaller, or delete the app from /Applications and the files com.wdc.WDDMservice.plist and com.wdc.WDSmartWareServer.plist from /Library/LaunchDaemons.   There may also be a file in Library/Application Support.
I then had to shut down computer, unplug Time Capsule, unplug modem; plug everything in again, then reboot computer; then had to go to Apple- System Preferences- Network- and reselect my Time Capsule to connect to WiFi again.
Then opened Time Machine preferences again and attempted back up - it worked!

  • HT201210 pls solve my problem error 3194

pls solve my problem error 3194

    Hello,
    Check this:
This device is not eligible for the requested build (Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194")
Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
    Hope it helps,

  • HT203200 How can i solve the -50 error when downloading video from itunes??

How can I solve the -50 error when downloading video from itunes.   The apple support people cannot even figure it out!??

The 2330 error often means some sort of damage to the filing system as might happen if the battery fell out while the disk was in use.
Try running a disk check to see if it finds and fixes any errors.

  • [SOLVED] nvidia and xorg-server, slow start compared to nv

I've seen many similar topics but none that have been solved, therefore the new topic.
Starting xorg with nv driver takes just a few seconds to desktop, while using nvidia takes almost 10 seconds more to get to desktop. Although after reaching desktop everything works fine. I've used a minimal xorg.conf for each driver (replacing nvidia with nv):

From what I can tell it is something with the nvidia driver that doesn't play well with xorg.  Perhaps some kind of autodetection that takes long time to finish. Anyone got any ideas how to solve this?

Didn't see they where timestamps . Yes it seems that glx is one cause of the delay. I've tried some different xorg.conf, and it's always ligglx.so or  NV-GLX that slows it down. Any suggestions on how I can speed this up?
ps. The computer is ok. Although the garddrive is a SATA 3.0Gb/s, 5400 RPM.  But I don't think this is the problem?
