[SOLVED] - Package xf86-video-via is missing from repositories!

Hi,
I have a VIA card as follows:
VGA Compatible Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter (rev 01)
My X doesn't work except in VESA mode. But in Vesa mode, when I play videos in mplayer, I can't fullscreen them.
When I checked the sample xorg.conf files mentioned in the Xorg wiki, I find that I am advised to use the xf86-video-via package.
But the package xf86-video-via is missing from repositories!
pacman -Ss xf86-video-via doesn't give results!
Please help.
Thanks.

  • [SOLVED] kms, xf86-video-ati: direct rendering issues

    Hi,
Quite possible I'm doing something completely wrong, but how to enable direct rendering on an r500 chip (x1400 mobility radeon) with kms enabled?
I let the module be loaded early (-> mkinitcpio) and have radeon.modeset=1 in my grub-menu.lst. kernel mode setting works, the x-server starts (in contrast to when having modeset=0, then Xorg segfaults due to libglx) and in the Xorg.0.log when looking for DRI, it tells me that the modules dri, dri2 and glx are all properly loaded. Nevertheless, glxgears is damn slow as well as glxinfo telling me that direct rendering is not enabled.
Using the git versions of xf86-video-ati and libdrm didn't change the bahaviour.
    package versions:
    kernel 2.6.36.2-1
    mesa 7.9-1
libdrm-git (from a few minutes ago)
xf86-video-ati-git (from a few minutes ago)
xorg.conf: there's no difference in having LoadModule "dri", "dri2" in the Module-Section or having Option "DRI" "on" in the Device section or not having any xorg.conf at all.
Any ideas? or is dri up and running and glxgears just sucks and glxinfo doesn't show the correct information?

    you have to install ati-dri
and BTW, you should not use libdrm-git if you don't planning compile mesa yourself. libdrm in arch repo is new enough.

  • Makepkg error on xf86-video-via

I am running Arch64 and current driver opencrhome does not work very well with my video card. I don't see via driver in repos. I found it in AUR instead. My box is up to date. Can I replace the current driver with this one from the AUR without breaking Xorg or anything ?

Define "breaking". Worst case, it won't work and you'll have to reinstall (through Pacman) the current driver and change the line in xorg.conf back, all from the console.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome + xf86-video-ati = Compiz-fusion can't start wo f-i

I know this is not a new issue but... let's try again.
The title is pretty much the situation. I reinstalled the whole system recently and installed Catalyst which worked good except for a delay on maximizing/resizing windows. Yesterday I saw the new about Catalyst going to AUR and all that stuff so I decided to switch to open source drivers. They work pretty good but the wiki-way to start compiz without fusion-icon which used to work with catalyst does not work anymore.

    In your compiz.desktop instead of:
    Exec=compiz ccp
    It should be:
    Exec=compiz --sm-disable --ignore-desktop-hints ccp --indirect-rendering
    Edit:
If you still have problems after that you need to export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1, which is what fusion-icon is doing.

  • Video clips are missing from iMovie...Yosemite?

I recently downloaded Yosemite. I had a number of video clips (from Cannon Camera) in iMovie; they are no longer showing up. These clips were of my deceased mom. I've tried finding them in Time Capsule - NOT there. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME.
    Thank you
    Mike

I actually found a number of my videos in iPhoto and have created a new folder on desktop. I have moved the clips there and backup things up using Time Capsule. I know that many people may think that Time Capsule is antiquated and they're using iCloud. For those of us that don't use iCloud for photos, etc. I think you need to have a folder of items on your desktop in order to be saved in Time Capsule. Just thought I's share my experience and prevent others from troubles.
I just don't understand why items (that previously existed in iMovie) are no longer appearing due to Yosemite upgrade.

  • Can't get video via Airplay Mirroring from iPad to TV

I am trying to watch NFL Rewind using my iPad2 through Airplay Mirroring to Samsung Smart TV but, I am only getting an audio and not the video..  Can someone PLEASE help me how to get the video?

Make sure the App you are trying to use supports Video mirroring some don't for copyright reasons.
If You can mirror your iPads home screen, then mirroring works and its up to the actual App to allow the mirroring of their Video source.

  • Video Pro application missing from my 808 even aft...

    Hi,
Well the title says it all. I saw everywhere on the net that the 808 PureView was to get the Video Pro app after the FP2 update, but even after the update to FP2 my 808 still doesn't have that application. And it doesn't show up in the update application as well.
Please can anyone suggest a solution.
    Thanks in advance!
    Sabby Jay
    Sincerely,
    Sabbyj
Hit the kudos button if I was of any help to you. And don't forget to mark the solution if I get one.

If you got Belle FP2 FOTA as soon as it was released it included Video Pro but firmware update was quickly pulled due to issues and ths application was absent when it was re-released; it has not to date re-appeared in SW update.

Using vesa instead --> gives me a flickering screen
Using intel instead --> gives me a black screen
Somebody an idea, what I can do?

    Ok, I removed the packages
    xf86-video-intel xf86-video-vesa xf86-video-fbdev
So its the xf86-video-ati, which is used.

Between why I installed the mentioned packages was, cause I'v seen these log entries in the Xorg.0.log:
(EE) Failed to load module "xxxx" (module does not exist, 0)
Can somebody explain what happens here.

  • The package file is missing from the project directory

Today after working in SSIS all day with no problems, I re-opened one of my projects and got the message:
The package file ‘package_name.dtsx’ is missing from the project directory. This package has been skipped, and project will continue to load.
So two of my packages loaded and all remaining packages where skipped, one pop-up dialog for each “missing” package. I then looked in my project directory and all my packages are still there.
    1. Has anyone experienced this and found why this happens?
    2. Can I just import my packages again and be good to go?
    Update:
I discovered that this had to do with renaming my packages in SSDT. For some reason the name changes did not get saved into the project .dtproj file. I was able to correct by renaming the .dtsx files in the project directory to their original name. Then
I re-opened the project, renamed the packages to the new names, saved and closed all packages. At this point you need to save the project, which actually wasn't really straight forward. You need to highlight the project name in Solution Explorer
and then from the File menu select 'Save Selected Items'. This updates the .dtproj file.
Upon closing SSDT, a dialog SOMETIMES appears asking you to save the project, after selecting Yes, the .dtproj file also updates. However, I've realized that upon closing the project, that the dialog asking to save the project does not always appear,
depending on what has changed in the project. To be safe, use method previously described, especially after renaming packages. Also, if SSDT happens to crash after you have renamed a package, the project will not re-open properly.

I remember one such occurrence when I used Source Control (if I recall right it was TFS), and yes, you can simply right-click on the packages folder and choose 'add existing package'.
But check for project file perhaps it has a wrong reference. E.g. something from the outside manipulated on the package files.

  • Audio and Video option missing from Export Quicktime Movie Include

Today as I was exporting a clip, I noticed that the Audio and Video option was missing from the Include drop down. I only have the options of Left, Center, Right.
I highlight the sequence, control E (or File>Export>Quicktime Movie) and the Save window comes up. The Settings drop down is the same, the Markers: drop down is the same, but the Include: has the options of Left, Center and Right. I thought the Video and Audio dropdowns were always there. I hate to admit it, but I have not paid attention to them in a while. Getting old I guess.
Sequence settings is 720x480 NTSC DV (3:2)
    NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV (720x480)
    Lower (Even)
    29.97
    QT Video Settings
    DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    100%
    Audio
    48 kHz
    16-bit
    Channel Grouped
    Did I miss something?
    Thanks

    Thanks, forgot about that.
For what ever reason it started working correctly a couple of hours later, after I started an SD project. The video came out fine
I had been trying out a couple new applications, so maybe one was causing it. I will see if it happens in the future.

  • Xf86-video-ati: system freezes after changing power profile to low?

I am running multihead with awesome-wm and the latest xf86-video-ati drivers (not from testing). when i change the power method to profile and change the power profile to low, the screen flashes, my temps start to go down and everything seems normal. a few minutes later the system hard freezes, can't ctrl-alt-del, power button doesn't work on a single press (have to press and hold). i don't have this problem when running dynpm but because i am running dual screens, the temps don't drop at all and hover around 66 degrees.
    card is a radeon 6950.
this is a fresh install of arch, had arch installed on the same system about a year ago and didn't have this problem at all.

If I remember correctly this is known to be possible to happen (is that real english? ). In this case, just don't put it to "low", since it's quite experimental.

  • Video's are missing and can not post any video's and can no longer see on Facebook after upgrading mac software.  Facebook says content is unavailable.  Is this a facebook issue or is there something that I can do to fix on my mac.

Video's are missing from facebook album under photo's.  It shows that I have 99 and only shows 24.  These are not copyright problems.  I have had them up for years.  Now, I can not post any video's  too.  Message says that content is currently unavailable. It seemed to happen after I upgraded to 10.7.5 but it could be coincidental.  Of course, I have not got any email from facebook to help with this problem and I am really frustrated that I can not find my video's and post any new ones anymore.  Any help would be appreciated.

I would like to add that Comcast is my internet provider. Perhaps that is part of the issue although the Connection Doctor confirms the mail box is connecting to the internet. No other function processes when Connection Doctor program is used to find the source of the issue. I have read forum posts but am unable to find a way to get my Apple mail to be delivered to my computer. It worked fine up until I chose to transfer mail to the Cloud. My mail account is a .mac account.
Still hoping someone out there can help me.
    thanks,
    anne

  • [SOLVED]Swapping from xf86-video-ati driver to catalyst

    Hey everyone,
So as the title implies, I need some help on this.  I tried doing a pacman -R xf86-video-ati, then setting my xorg over to vesa as the driver prior to installing the catalyst driver.  That part went fine.  Installed catalyst which updated my xorg accordingly.  Rebooted, and X won't load.  So per ATI's instructions, I removed the catalyst driver, reloaded, did a new xorg - configure and worked my way back to xf86-video-ati.
I would really like to get catalyst going.  Where did I screw up on my first attempt?  I saw somewhere on the forum that you can actually get 3d working with the xf86 driver, but I forgot to bookmark that thread lol.  Here's a copy of my current xorg if it helps at all.

It's not Xorg that is the issue. It's the Catalyst drivers, they only support up to Xorg 1.6.
So you will have to downgrade Xorg in order to use them.
I'm using the xf86-video-ati drivers myself on Xorg 1.7 with a HD4850, 2D works fine. Xv and especially 3D is a no-go so far, but my system has been running for just a day now, so i'm still setting up lots of things.
In the new kernel (2.6.32) there is KMS support for the Radeon HD3xxx and HD4xxx series. I'm hoping that will get the drm module working (fails to initialize over here), and i'm hoping that will bring me at least Xv support, so I can watch videos properly. The open-source ati driver does support it.
So if you can wait for that kernel to move from testing to core, that's what I would do before jumping into the Xorg 1.6 and Catalyst "jungle".
    [Edit]
I got Xv working by disabling KMS tries by the kernel, using "nomodeset" in my kernel boot line.
    OpenGL attempts (even glxgears) crashes
