(SOLVED) Pacman mirrorlist & DB Sync issue.

Hi, I messed with HDD through BSD and my HDD was wiped clean!(grr) anyways I reinstalled Arch with 2009.08 iso image. I've setup connections and enabled repos and updated mirrorlist. I can ping google and browse it through links. System behaves normally. But when I try to install/search ANY package, it says not found in SyncDB.
I've double checked the package names and also tried pacman -Syy, but still no joy
It says core, extra & community are up to date, but stilll wont find kde, apache, alsa-utils etc.. I have not modified pacman.conf in any way. Help!

Most likely, your mirror is out of synch. Look into your mirrorlist and determine the first enabled mirror from top of the file, then check against
https://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html
Pacman will pick the first mirror out of your list as long as it is reachable and if the mirror is out of synch, you won't get any updates.

  • [solved] pacman mirrorlist "directive 'x' not recognized"

I'm bungling through an install and tried using reflector to get speedier mirrors. Somehow I hosed myself, as when I checked mirrorlist it was blank(!), so I recopied the back-up to /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist. Now when I run pacman -Syy I get:
error: config file /etc/pacman.d/mirrolist, line 1: directive 'x' in repository section 'core' not recognized.
The a line saying the same holds true for extra and community. Then it tries to sync servers and says: failed to update core (no servers configured for repository), and again for extra and community.  I tried to get openssh so I could go in remotely and copy the screen, but "no servers configured for repository."
Can anyone get me out of this can of worms?

    x#Mirror used during installation
    Server = http:/mirror.cs.vt.edu/pub/ArchLinux/$repo/os/i686
(Which now that i look at I recognize as the server i chose for the installation!)
Then, just the rest of the standard mirror list, and i uncommented the U.S. mirrors.

  • [Solved]Pacman fails on sync

    Hello there Archlinux folks!
Today, my beloved little home server, running Arch, was a real pain in the ... and I had to realize, the fact: I need the help of ppl who understand this better than I do.
As a related matter, I just bought a Network Media Player today, so I needed to modify my server a bit, like setup XBMC for upnp sharing, and Pacman showed me a "funny error message". With all due respect, I cannot reproduce the original anymore, - but it looked kinda same - since I tried to sync pacman with the repositories, and that somehow altered the current setup. Also tried to enable another repositories, but it did not helped.
Now if I try to install something, like # pacman -S xbmc the following error message is triggered:
    [root@hoth estol]# pacman -S xbmc

@skunktrader: yes, I tried, no it did not helped.
@karol: mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, a friend of mine hooked me up with this distro, and set it to be hungarian as default, now I know how to change it - to be honest, this language annoys the crap out of me.
@TigTex: yes, the host is alive, I can even browse the contents.
Thanks for all the help, as it turned out, the problem was hardware related. Time to put her down.

  • [SOLVED] Pacman and ABS sync give different results

I have been having a few issues with the NZ mirror, however they have been sorted. I have -Syy'ed a couple of times and get back:
    :: Starting full system upgrade...
local database is up to date
Which I know isn't the case as I visited the mirror via a browser and I can see Thunderbird 3 sitting there (taunting me)...
    So I did a
    # abs
and now in /var/abs/extra/ I have thunderbird 3 sitting there. How is that possible?

You open up the address in a browser and see all the files on the mirror and the dates they changed, there should be a file called extra.db.tar.gz which is the file listing what's on the mirror. You can also check mirror status on this page https://users.archlinux.de/~gerbra/mirrorcheck.html

Any idea why? I got my rt73 wireless working, and was able to go on the internet with links, but synchronizing with pacman is stuck at 'Synchronizing Package Databases'.
Is it because pacman is too old and I need to upgrade it first or what?

  • TIMECODES are important for audio and video sync issues

Hello, just wanted to pass on what I learned so that others can avoid the trouble that I've had to go through. Perhaps this may help someone who is stuck on the launch pad. :)
BOTTOM LINE: Info for the beginner. Audio and video not in sync in Premiere Pro CS3 V3.2.0
PROBLEM: Capture works great it seems. When I go to the folder that contains the captured file and view in Windows Media Player audio and video are in sync. BUT when viewing the video asset in the source and program monitors, the audio and video are not in sync.
    SOLUTION:
Before capturing a tape make certain the following is checked:
    (1) Edit->Preferences->Capture->Use device control timecode
    (2) Edit->Preferences->Device Control->Options->Timecode Format
    (3) Project->Project Settings->General->Video->Display format
As for the devices timecode choose something other than Auto Detect. Then match the project timecode with what was chosen during capture. The projects display format could of course be set to frames.
I searched everywhere for audio and video sync issues in google, adobe forums, F1 help, and hv20.com and everyone was talking about:
    (1) Presets: 1080p30 vs. 1080i30 (60i).
    (2) brakes in the tape where timecode for the audio and video get misaligned during capture.
But choosing the correct hardware settings and timecodes to solve audio and video sync issues never popped up.
    MY HARDWARE: Canon HV30, HDV

    >Audio and video not in sync in Premiere Pro CS3 V3.2.0
Must be an HDV only issue because my synch is always perfect.

  • IPhoto 9.4.1 does not solve all sync issues

The 9.4.1 update does not solve all the sync issues.
It may have fixed the duplicate Events that you can see in iTunes when syncing to an iDevice, but it has not resolved the duplicate Faces.
I still have many duplicate Faces showing, even though in iPhoto the Faces are only there once.......

    Try the following:
1 - open the library package with the Finder as follows:
2  - Find the AlbumData.xml file and move it to the Desktop.
3 - close the package and launch iPhoto.
See if the above will get rid of the bogus events.
    OT

  • How to solve the syncing issues of apps downloaded? They are stuck on "loading" and "waiting"

Syncing issues from iTunes to iPad. Apps are showing as "loading" and "waiting"

I had the same issue and tried several options like rebooting, resyncing, deleting and reinstalling apps, restarting the network connection but none of them worked. Eventually I opened iTunes on my iPhone (not on Mac) to find that it had two pending downloads that was stopping the rest of the apps from loading fully.  You need to cancel them by swiping left to right over the listed apps and select cancel/delete. It worked for me.  Good luck!

I tried removing core.db from /var/lib/pacman/sync/ and I changed SigLevel to Never in pacman.conf. I've tried other keyservers, and I've tried different mirrors. I'm not sure what to do from this point. I need pacman to continue building my system, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks! I disabled IPv6, and everything works now.

  • Sync issues after iOS 8 update

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 5S, 64 GB. After updating to iOS8 I got sync issues. "Waiting for changes to be applied" never disappeared. Also the storage usage in iTunes 11.4 is wrong. iTunes said I had 6GB free, when I had in fact 20GB. I restored the phone back to firmware, restored the backup. All was fine until I made setting changes in iTunes what I want to sync. The same issue in iTunes is back again. I already deleted my voice memos as someone recommended in another threat but that didn't help.
Any ideas how I can solve the problem, would be appreciated. Thank you!

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • How do I get rid of lip-sync issues with iTunes 10.2.2.12?

    Hi Everyone.
    Firstly, a very Happy Easter!
I'm having lip-sync issues with iTunes playback on my PC. The video is largely smooth with the occaisional choppiness when the CPU is made to work hard. (Playback on my iPod Touch is fine).
The system stats for my PC are at the bottom of the post.
The sound is produced through a Creative Live Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card.
Video is through a NVIDIA Geforce 6200 with 512Mb of RAM. (All video and audio drivers are up to date).
The physical set-up is that I have iTunes installed on the C drive and my media installed on an external USB hard-drive.This isn't just a problem with 10.2.2.12 - it's been there for the last few updates.
I suppose my main questions are:
Should iTunes and my media be on the same drive? (Which would mean the external drive as I'm short on space on the C drive).
Is there some combination of settings in QuickTime that will solve this? (I've tried different combinations, but it doesn't really help).
Is the spec (below) of my PC causing any issues.
Here's an Easter Egg for anyone able to help!!
    All the best
    BandAidUK.

Select *List view* instead of *Album list view*. These are in the View menu or the boxes next to Search, on the right top of iTunes.
and the column next to it with a number in it that I have absolutely no idea what it's for. I want those two columns OUT.
In List view, you can turn off every column (in menu View > View options) except track name.

  • Having sync issues with Outlook 2011 since upgrading to Mavericks

    Hi All,
My work Macbook Pro 13" is having issues syncing my inbox and sent mail automatically. It's a hit or miss if I recieve emails in my inbox in a timely mannor with out pressing the Send/Recive button (even when i press it takes minutes to update). My Sent Items can show up an hour later  even if I hit the Send/Recieve button.
All my mail is there and shows up/syncs on my iPhone quickly. I upgraded to Mavericks right when it came out and have only been having these sync issues for the last week or so.
I've cleared my mail cache and that didn't work. My calandar reminders and contacts don't seem to have any issues and no other apps have been preforming slow or strangely.... just my VERY important work email. My tech guys are stumped and I wanted to try you guys before they do a major rehaul of my system
    Thanks!

A new Outlook Identity will most likely solve your issues. If you have any data under "On My Computer" folders, see this link:
How to move your data to a new Identity
BTW, how much free space on your drive? Use Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities to find this info. You need a minimum of 10% free but 15-20% is recommended.
Outlook gets very sluggish when you are low on disk space. If you have a bunch of older Identities from previous rebuilds you can delete these to help free up space.

  • IPod Sync issues in Windows 7

I know that there is little to no support for Windows 7 yet, but, is anyone else having an issues syncing their iPod 5th G with iTunes? It will appear in Windows and in iTunes and then it will be "ejected" and disappears from Windows. iTunes will give a "timed out" error because the iPod is missing. I have an iPhone 3GS and that runs with no issues.
I'm running the final build of 7 (6.1.7600). Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey guys! I was in the same boat as all of you, but I was sure their had to be a solution to this problem. I found a solution that worked for me! Ive got the Windows 7 64bit, and my ipod is sycning as we speak! Follow these steps.
    1. Disconnect your iPod Shuffle from your PC
    2. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL, start the Task-Manager, go to Processes and end the process for "ITunesHelper.exe" (this will prevent iTunes from starting when you re-connect the Shuffle.
    3. Now, re-connect the iPod Shuffle - iTunes should NOT start by itself and you should be able to see your Shuffle within the list of your drives (My Computer.
    4. Next, download SharePod from http://www.getsharepod.com/download/ and extract the .zip file and start the Sharepod.exe
    5. If everything works out, Sharepod will recognize your iPod Shuffle
    6. Sharpod won't start if iTunes is open but it will work vice-versa. So, start iTunes NOW and keep Sharepod OPEN.
    7. iTunes will re-detect your Shuffle but it will still be available as a hard-drive afterwards as long as you keep Sharepod OPEN. Detection can take up to 30 seconds so be patient.
    8. Now go to the iPod Summary tab within iTunes and DESELECT "open itunes when this ipod is attached". Scroll down on the same page and also check the "enable disk use" checkbox. Click the contents tab, then the settings button and choose the amount of disk space to allocate. I chose 5MB. Click back to the settings tab and APPLY those changes.
    9. Close iTunes WITHOUT ejecting the iPod.
    10. Close Sharepod and simply disconnect your iPod Shuffle (i.e. pull it off the dock).
    11. Reboot your computer. After the reboot ITunesHelper.exe will be running again you don't have to care about Sharepod or processes anymore. That is, you can delete sharepod if you want.
    12. Simply connect your iPod to the PC as you used to do, open up iTunes and everything should work as it did back in the good old days.
NOTE: Don't eject the iPod from within iTunes going forward, simply disconnect it from the PC manually by pulling it off the dock yourself when you're done.
This solved my sync issues, and I hope it does for you too.
