[SOLVED] PHP sessions problem

Since I don't often visit any other forum, someone here might be able to help
I have a *very* basic web 'application' written which uses PHP sessions. For some reason, the session variable only exists in one page. Change to another and it disappears. Surely session variables are suppose to avoid this problem?
Maybe I've got something entirely wrong. Any idea?

Well I've done a basic test:
test.php

$_SESSION['count']=1;

</body>
</html>
This sucessfully outputs 1
Then another page:

echo "Count=" . $_SESSION['count'];
else
echo "No variable.";
?>
Which outputs 'No variable.'
(I've also tried this without defining a path, still the same result)

[SOLVED] php-apache problem

Ever since an update I ran yesterday, apache will not start, so I began to troubleshoot. I removed the lines in httpd.conf that had to do with including php. I tried starting apache and it worked. So now I know php has to do with it. I tried reinstalling everything (i.e. apache, mysql, php, php-apache) and still no luck.
SOLVED: Cleared /var/cache/pacman/pkg, reinstalled, and rebooted a few times. Very strange

Session problems on Windows

Hi There,
I'm using zend framework for doing the app which I developed on Mac but had to switch back to Windows 7. I tried to move the application as far as I can, but I'm not able to solve one big problem. This situation is as follow:
-> I login with normal php / html site and placing a Zend Auth object into session (Normal Zend Framework mechanism)
-> After detection of what kind of user logged in I redirect the site to given html site which contains the flash file for the user kind ( all within the same domain )
-> I check on every RemoteObject request the user credentials existence in the session, if not present or timed out I send back an Event to get the flex application to log out
-> In normal case ( on the mac and production site ) it works great, but in Windows 7 I always get logged out directly after login and loading the flash site.
After further debugging I found that the requested site get's a new session id in flex's RemoteObject and after logging out the same session id is used than on login. On the Production Site it's still working great even on Windows.
How is this possible? Is there a way that Flash in Windows uses the same session accross the same domain? Where else should I look? Nothing has changed in php code nor server settings, except 1 thing mainly I use now virtualhost on windows rather than a simple localhost/project url.

Thanks jbf00 for your info, I'm doing this almost 4 days and no solution in sight. The only thing that I come a bit further is that the first check on the login credentials goes well (authorization check) but the next RemoteObject request get's a new session. The current situation is:
-> login via PHP / Zend Framework
-> redirect to an html site with Flex content
-> request Authorization confirmation via RemoteObject goes well ( with authorization test )
-> request Data via RemoteObject fails on authorization test
according to the Network Monitor I can see that the last request gets a new session_id and I don't do any session_regeneration
I did installed a new debian server to test the issue on Linux based system as well, but had no effect so, even the last working example has been recompiled with Windows FB4 instead of the Mac one.
the only things I can think of is that the Windows version of the FalshBuilder 4 (trial) doesn't work well somehow
If anybody has some other suggestions I will cover that as well.

-> instead of using the localhost entry I do use now a VirtualHost now ( .htaccess change for the MessageBroker controller :: ZendAMF

I was completely wrong, I had a minor bug in the Authorization confirmation method, but the problem still remains so after login and redirection the first request has a wrong session_id

Session problem in jsp application

I face a session problem. I setting everything in a session and when pass back to a main page, the value is not display in the screen. But after refresh the value will display in the screen and this kind of problem only come out very few time and i dun knw how to solve this...
Anyone here can give me some idea and suggestion or the way to solve this kind of problem!!!

define "2 different clients"
1) You have 2 different PCs and it's using the same session ID for both? I doubt this. I think the server is advanced enough not to use give a session ID that's already been created.
2) You have 1 PC and are using IE or Netscape and using File > New Window to open a new window and connect again. This you can't fix without using only URL rewriting to manage session, because the different windows will share the same session cookies.

[Solved] NX Session Too Big

Once again I solved my own problem - all I had to do was go into the display settings inside GNOME, from within my NX session. Then I could change the display resolution and it would change it for my NX session but not my regular GNOME sessions where I'm physically present. I hope this helps someone.
I've been having this problem for a while, and have been looking for solutions all over the place, but I haven't found one, so I thought I'd ask here.
On both my work computer and my laptop I run Arch Linux. I am using the GNOME desktop environment. I have freenx installed on my work computer so I can work on it from elsewhere. However, I have a problem where the NX session is too high a resolution to fit on the screen. This is really annoying because windows appear off the edge of the screen and it is difficult to bring them all back into the field of view.
I have tried changing the resolution of the session in the NX client settings but that seems to make no difference.
Any suggestions?

Php session

Hey everyone,
Lovin adobe muse, it has allowed me to start up an old project of mine. I ran into a problem however and I ope someone here can help me.
I have created a log in system using php and mysql. The problem I am having is that if I load another page on my site I lose my php session because I am unable to write session start at the very beginning of my page. My work around is to publish and then open it in dream weaver add the code and then upload to my site.....annoying to do. Does anyone know of another way to fix this problem? Does session_start() have to be at the very beginning? Thanks in advanced.

To use cookie-based sessions, session_start() must be called before outputing anything to the browser.

Need to solve serious security problem with Oracle Reports URL

As mentioned repeatedly on this forum, Oracle Reports allows serious security breaches that allow users to see reports that they did not generate -- it's easy to guess a legal URL by changing the getjobid parameter.
I've reviewed the JavaDocs to part of the rwrun.jar file and reviewed some of the example report plugins. This shows promise in helping to solve this security problem but critical pieces are missing.
1) The javadocs are accurate for only 10g (9.0.4) but not correct for 10g (10.1.2+), which we are currently using. I need access to the updated version of this javadoc.
2) Even with the updated version of the JavaDoc, I haven't found a class from which to inherit that would give me the opportunity to generate random jobid values, which then would effectively prevent users from guessing other jobid values, and thereby gaining access to other's reports (which in our cases, may contain sensitive information.
3) We have found that we can send the parameter=value of EXPIRATION=1 which helps protect such information, but this requires that every program which invokes a report be modified to add this parameter. It would be far better for the report server to be configured to use a java class we write that inherits from some rwrun.jar class that would by default, add the EXPIRATION=1 parameter.

Java Session problem while sending mail(using javamail) using Pl/SQL

i am using Java stored procedure to send mail. but i'm getting java session problem. means only once i can execute that procedure
pls any help.

props.put("smtp.gmail.com",host);I doubt javamail recognizes the 'smtp.gmail.com' property. I think it expects 'mail.host'. Of course since it cannot find a specified howt it assumes by default localhost

Ms Apple is away from the desk but maybe I can help. If you open system preferences you'll see icons. Click on the one that says "Network". You should see somthing like this
Make sure that Wifi is turned on (gree light). This is a box in the upper right that says "Turn Wifi On". Click that box. Now your radio is on. To connect to a wifi network, select the icon in the upper menu bar that I've circled.
You can chose a network to join from the listed networks. You can also turn on wifi from that top line menu button but I think everyone be familar with system preferences. You'll go there a lot in your mac life.

the isolation level of my date store is read-committed ,and the sys.ODBC.INI file is also set Isolation=1(readcommitted mode)

I suspect this is failing on an UPDATE to the tt_03_reppeers table on Oracle. I would guess the TT repagent has to temporarily use serializable isolation when updating this table. Do you have any other datastores with AWT cachegroups propagating into the same Oracle database? Or can you identify if some other process is preventing the repagent from using serializable isolation? If you google ORA-08177 there seem to be ways out there to narrow down what's causing the contention.

Ever since I have owned the excellent Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0, I have saved edited photos in a version set with the original. Now, in spite of the 'save in Version Set' box being ticked, they are saved separately. When the edited photo is saved, it says 'imported from hard disk'. It has never said this before.
When the photos are imported from the camera, they are saved in Adobe/Digital Camera Photos/code provided by photoshop (eg 2006-03-10-1632-38). Under properties/history it says imported from Panasonic DMZ-TZ3. This has not changed. All the saving arrangements appear to be unchanged.
Photos (thousands!) have been successfully edited and saved in a Version Set. Under properties/history it says 'edited version' and 'imported from Panasonic DMZ-TZ3'.
Suddenly, photos that have been edited and should have been saved in a version set, now say under properties/history nothing about being edited. They say 'imported from hard disk'. In other words they are being treated as a new photo.
I really hope you can help me to solve this infuriating problem. Please ask if you need more information.

Michael: are you still using an old version o0f PSE (e.g. PSE V4)? Problems similar to the one that you described are relatively frequent in old PSE Versions ( I was suffering a lot from them)..... and there are quite seldom in newer PSE versions. Unfortunately, I do not remember which PSE Version became much better in this area (was it V5? or V6?)
If using an older PSE version and encoutering often the problem: consider to migrate to a newer PSE Version..

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.

4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
