Do you have Pidgin entered for Resource under the Basic tab? If so remove it and see if that works. If that and checking through everything again doesn't fix it, you could try pidgin-facebookchat from the AUR.

  • Need help with facebook chat and notifications

    Hey, guys.
Since I update to software version 10.2.1.2102 I havent been able to recieve facebook chat messages on the blackberry hub. Before the update anytime I had my phone conected to a wireless network it automatically recieved facebook messages on the hub. Now, although I can send messages, and recieve messages if that contact happens to be online, once I close the hub the conversation is gone and I do not get any more messages, only the "new messages from *person*" e-mail after some time.
Also, I do not get notifications about people's birthdays. I get the "Next event in x hours" notification on the lock screen, if I do go into the calendar I see the notification at the top of the page, but it does not ring to warn me of my contacts birthdays.
Can anyone help me with this two problems? Thank you!

  • Problems with Facebook Chat.

Over the last week I have found it increasingly difficult to go on Facebook Chat. I keep getting a 6004 notification to switch on F/B notifications which I have. After that it fails to connect. I know my reception is fine as I can connect to everything else that requiers my data services switched on & have the most up to date software installed. I have tried a reboot. Has anyone any ideas?

I'm not aware of any outages that would affect facebook chat.
If a reboot has not solved the problem, go ahead with an uninstall then reinstall it once again.  Once you've deleted it from your Applications list, you can get it back from App World or from www.blackberry.com/facebook on your phone's browser.

    HI,
The Facebook Account needs to have "Chat"  enabled but it sounds like you did this already.
I don't use Facebook but I have heard that there is a setting about using Different Browsers and allowing them to access your Chat option  (it would seem it gets limited to your normal Login and you can "Enable" Work or travelling options)
For "Browsers" read "Other Apps" and try enabling this option.

    Hi,
Although I don't have a Facebook I d have 3 other Jabber accounts logged in.
One is from Google and the others are from other Jabber servers.
My Google settings look like this,
Most Jabber server need SSL and the App will automatically make this port 5223.
However Google will let you change theirs to use port 443.
One of the other 2 is using "Automatically find Port and Server" and is using port 5222 and No SSL.
Whilst most will use SSL and port 5223 it is not true for every Jabber server.
I can never remember if the Facebook chat ID is @facebook.chat.com or @chat.facebook.com (I suspect the second)
You are using the Chat ID and not your regular Facebook ID ?
I can't follow the iChat link on this page as I can't log in
    https://en-gb.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php
I would check the set up page  but if that does not work I would work through all the settings possibles with the SSL, Ports, warn on insecure passwords etc.

  • Facebook Chat via iChat Hangs

I am using the latest version of iChat and Snow Leopard. I have properly set up my iChat to be used with Facebook chat, but for some odd reason whenever someone logs on or off of Facebook chat, it causes iChat to hang for as long as 30 seconds sometimes. It always un-hangs, I never have to Force Quit, but it is really obnoxious. For the first couple of months using iChat w/FB chat this was not an issue, but it seems like over time it has developed into one. I have checked and rechecked my settings and they are all correct. Does anyone have this experience and does anyone know how I can fix it? Thank you in advance!

    Hi
    Welcome to the    Discussions
I take it this is using the Jabber side of iChat to Enter the User/Screen Name you have and creating a separate Buddy list ?
I would check the iChat Menu > Preferences > Alerts and change the top drop-down to Buddy Becomes Available
Below that is the Drop down with tick box for the Sound choice
A couple of items below that you can link an AppleScript.
Do you have anything active here ?
Also check the top drop-down set to Buddy become Unavailable
The other possibility is something to do with the Facebook Login.
Still In Preferences go to the Accounts pane.
Highlight the account in the list on the left.
Go to the Server Settings tab on the right.
Does this have the SSL option On ?
Does the port read 5223 ?
(I am only asking you to look)
Do you have any other Buddy list and does the problem happen there as well ?

  • Using Firefox to access facebook chat Button or online friiend chat button generates a Black screen with CANNOT LOAD IMAGES and no chat window opens.

This does not happen in other browsers and it happens on a variety of computers I have access to and would seem to be a common problem but I can find no identical cases in my searches of
Firefox , Facebook or windows help or Google search. My home machine is only a P2 with WINXPCORP but works fine and I have done all updates but still have this continuing problem every time I try to use Firefox
to access Facebook chat but it does not happen with IE or chrome
The response to clicking on chat button or friend chat is a black screen with small center square box with blue title bar that says
    '' VIEW IMAGE FULL SCREEN - (42) FACEBOOK X""
center of box is ""! "" mark in yellow triangle and wording
"" CANNOT LOAD IMAGES ''' OK
clicking on OK returns to facebook page but no chat opens.
Some times |VERY RARLEY if as the page loades you click on
chat button with 1/2 second of it appearing chat will open.

  • How can i use facebook chat with XMPP?

    Hi All,
I want to create a Flex application that will communicate with the facebook chat interface, did someone do it before?
    Thanks,
    Lior

you should be able to update if you connect your phone to iTunes on the computer.
Create a backup first and then update to iOS 6.1.3, Facebook is integrated in that version.

    Hi,
I went to Digicert's web page (I searched and got to and went here)
    http://www.digicert.com/help/
I then put in chat.facebook.com and it came back they don't have a Certificate.
At this point I would delete the Certificate and then Delete the com.apple.ichat.Jabber.plist and then restart iChat.
Google is Jabber server, hence removing the Jabber .plist
The reason for removing the .plist is something in iChat is probably checking/Calling the Certificate and the .plist is the most likely place.
There is link on the page I linked above that might be more help.
    http://www.digicert.com/ssl-support/certificate-not-trusted-error.htm
It may also pay to check the Facebook Help pages.
Is there anything with Facebook that requires a SSL Login ? Such as changing your account or Privacy settings ?
Does Chatting on Facebook in web browser mark the page as Secure ? (normally a Padlock shown bottom right of most Browsers)
