[Solved] Please help setting up xbmc on Arch Linux

Trying to setup Arch Linux on my Asus Chromebox to run XBMC at startup. I have installed the following packages as per a guide on another site, xorg-server xorg-xinit xf86-video-intel xbmc. Whan I try to manually start xbmc, it gives me
Error: unable to open display
XBMC needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering.
Install an appropriate graphics driver.

Thank you, wasn't sure how to interpret X's output. I'm just trying to start xbmc from the command line, haven't tried yet getting it to autostart. Is there another command I should be using so it invokes X?

Hi ,
For runtime errors , you can trigger an alert.
I don't think so, it is possible to trigger an alert when message is stuck in Queue, but if you get any error either system error or application error then you can trigger an alert.

If you have got any errors like communication errors because of Queue error, then you can think of configuring CCMS alerts.(i.e alerts for Components)

Please help setting up Mysql ASP connection on a Mac DW8

Dear All
I have posted previously but I still have not solved this
problem, and really need anybody with a mac DW setup to give some
advice. I have spoken to Adobe and trawled the net looking for a
solution to getting ASP and DW working on a mac. I know I need a
windows machine and a local network which I have. I have a real
issue making a database connection from within dreamweaver.
Please help anybody with experience.

You said you upgraded the JRE to 1.4. Did you change the parameter JRE_LOCATION in oraparam.ini, to point to the newer jre? I found some info on this forum thread for this error (but this error occurs before the installation screens even come up. You didn't mention exactly what screen your error comes up on so I figured I would mention this just in case).

If you're on the screen after the installation summary screen, and it hangs while saying "Link pending, copying JRE" above the progress bar, I am also at this stage.
Although I haven't fixed the problem yet, someone mentioned that you need to install patch 2878462 to fix this problem. I haven't done this yet, but saw the write up here:

I can't figure out how to get the patch since I don't have a support contract. I don't understand how they can provide a free linux download and not give you access to the patchsets (on metalink)!!!! Anyone know how I can get the patchset without having a support contract and logging into metalink?

Setting up Display in arch linux

I have running xen on arch linux and on creation of instances xl create states that Error: Can't open Display .
xen uses vncserver to export screen of vm.
I hope somone can point me in right direction s i can setup DISPLAY ?

I don't have experience with xen, but do you have vncserver installed on the virtual machine? That error looks like it didn't find a port accepting vnc connections on your vm or something.
It seems that that is the way that it lets you use the vm display. If it isn't installed, try ssh-ing into the vm and installing and setting it up.

SOLVED: Need help setting up user restrictions/permissions at work

I am new to the Arch community in the last month after trying out the usual suspects in distributions. My only prior experience with Arch is setting up my tech machine with Linux and a few basic apps for customer backups. However, I have worked in IT for a while, it was just all Windows-based.
I want to use a spare machine we had laying around at our dog boarding/daycare facility as an employee time clock. More specifically, the time clock is web-based, so the computer only needs access to Firefox and LibreOffice and I would like to restrict it to their online system only. Also, I would like for it to print to the network Epson WorkForce 610 printer. I want the user account "employee" I created to be unable to load new software of any kind, change any settings, access a non-work website, etc. I figured I will maintain it, when necessary, using sudo.
Up to this point I have just loaded the basic install (32-bit), updated everything, and loaded the few extra things listed in the installation procedure such as sudo, gamin, samba, xorg, and some fonts. I have not yet loaded a desktop environment as I thought my specific needs may be easier with a certain one? I suppose I would prefer Xfce, as I have that on my tech machine, and it was simple enough for anyone to use at work for what I want. Besides that, I'm just going to load Firefox and LibreOffice, set up the network printer, and allow DVD-drive access for watching a training video and for viewing Word/Excel docs. I am hoping this is somewhat easily done, but if something is not possible that is okay. The 95% usage will be simply to punch in and punch out on the time clock online so as to keep the front computer free.
I am completely unaware in Linux how to accomplish this exactly and am not sure where to even look in the Wiki or forum search for this. I could have just loaded a fresh Windows XP Pro, but I am wanting to get deeper into the Linux community and become as familiar as I am with Windows.

To sum it up, you want make your system immutable to the user after your setup and gain certain limit to network access?
1) To make your system immutable to certain user. The most simple way I can think of is to disable all terminal and launcher programs.
- Add "exit" to the bottom of ~/.bashrc file. Make it immutable.
# chattr +i ~/.bashrc
- Disable your launcher program. Asuming you're installing xfce4.
# chmod 700 $(which xfrun4)
- Mount /home folder with noexec option. Edit your /etc/fstab, for example:
/dev/sda4 /home ext4 defaults,noexec 0 1
You might also want to add this option for CDROM and USB sticks.
2) Limit your network access. The easiest way is to use some sort of firefox extension, however it is strictly a weak method to do so.
Many other methods's available.
However, I personally hate such thing and wouldn't recommend you to do so. If you truely wish to do it, please do it yourself.

Sorry to hear about your issue.
If you are not seeing an Enterprise Activation option on your BlackBerry® smartphone then you may need to contact your wireless service provider to have this feature enabled. Once this option has been enable you will need to contact the BlackBerry Enterprise Server admin to have a password set for you. Once you have the password you can start the activation process. If you are having issues with the activation then you can have a look at the below article for some additional help.

I would like to set up iCloud so that the devices can be backed up without the use of a computer. I would like

Here is how I understand it and please correct me if I am wrong.
I must set up 3 icloud accounts. Share a icloud log in with the two devices that I wish to share between and the iphone 4 on its own
They all can chare the same Apple Store ID for downloads and this will not affect settings/contacts/messaging ect.
iCloud will only hold 1,000 pics/videos before deleting the oldest per icloud account
Music and pictures should still be backed up to a computer.
Apps are remembered on the cloud.
Any input really appreciated!

[SOLVED] Please help me fix my website's rendering problem in Firefox.

I have a strange rendering inconsistency with my website when viewed in Firefox. When I browse my website locally from the hard disk, it renders correctly as per the Preferences->Contents settings. But when I visit it on the internet server, everything (fonts, images and other objects) look smaller. This difference persits even if I save the index file to disk and then view it locally, that is the downloaded index file looks right even though viewed on the server everything is rendered smaller.
Eventually the problem cleared once I renamed ~/.mozilla so that firefox created a new ~/.mozilla config directory. I setup Preferences again as previously and moved some files from the old .mozilla to the new one, looking for a possible culprit but the problem did not reappear. I also tried removing various files from the old .mozilla, clearing the cache etc but the problem persisted.
So, my conclusion, something was wrong in some file in the original ~/.mozilla. I would have liked to find out what, but anyhow, its now rendering local/remote pages identically. :-)

hi neok,
looks like the only difference is font size. when it comes to trying to keep everything uniform across browsers, you're probably best to use a bit of CSS to tell the page the font sizes. If you don't have a stylesheet set up you can add a bit of code into you <head>:
<style type="text/css">
body { font: 14px arial, verdana, helvetica, sans-serif; }
</style>
or change the values to the size you want default text to be. If you want to keep it as times (serif) instead, you can change it to:
<style type="text/css">
body { font: 14px 'times new roman', georgia, times, serif; }
</style>
Georgia looks much nicer than times or times new roman on screen, and as for linux alternatives, you can probably specify any you prefer, just make sure they're inside quote marks as i've done times new roman.

Please Help - Set number of x-axis labels in code

First, your help is greatly appreciated as I desperately need an answer. I have created a asp.net program in Visual Basic 2008 and it contains an embedded Crystal Report 2008 (full version) report. The report has a chart and I have set the number of x-axis labels to skip to 900 ('Skip Group Labels' setting), but I need a way of setting this dynamically as it will change depending on the time of day the report is run (dB gets updated every hour). The program currently has just a few lines of code as almost everything is self contained within the .rpt file. Is there anyway that I can easily do this in code? Thanks in advance, Sincerely Glenn

time- timestamp
value- integer
I have problem writing query to get rolling up cumulative of value for time buckets
Wanted results like following:
like cumulative value for rolling 5 minutes time bucket for past 1 hour
If current time is 8:51:00
value cumulative value
8:51:00 3 256
8:46:00 4 253
8:01:00 3 14
7:56:00 6 11
7:51:00 5 5
user want the time bucket can set to 5min, 1 hours, 1 day
and the data can be refreshed every 1 min. Is there some way we can get live rolling time bucket like
if currenct time is 3/18/2006 11:07:23 am, the interval(Time bucket) send to 1 hour. Results like following
count(*) interval interval3
187 88 3/18/2006 10:07:00 AM
280 87 3/18/2006 09:07:00 AM
34 86 3/18/2006 08:07:00 AM
1 mins later. time is 3/18/2006 11:07:23 am. refresh data, the result like

Question can the number of required buckets that are brought back be limited to say 12? If you can limit the result set to a fixed number of buckets then you should be able to just use a group by on a case statement with a little date/time math in it. That is you would be able to calculate the time boundries from the present and then compare the row data timestamps to the boundries.
With a variable number of buckets you would need to find the difference in the desired units (5 min, 1 hour, days ? 24 hours) between the current_timestamp and the oldest timestamp in the data. You would then need to calculate the boundries and compare the data. Doing all this would be more resource intensive than the group by the case test.
