[SOLVED] Question about "loadkeys" from the install procedure
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In … ard_layout
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … the_keymap
# loadkeys ro_win
They show up as black squares... Even after generating these locales, as per the Beginner's Guide:
[root@archiso ~]# locale-gen
Generating locales...
en_US.UTF-8... done
ro_RO.UTF-8... done
ro_RO.ISO-8859-2... done
Genetation complete.
What do?
PS: I noticed that they're activated with "Alt+Shift". There's no mention in the Install Guide or Beginner's Guide about this. Heh.

From the LiveCD (in VirtualBox):
# nano x
<wrote these characters>
# cat x | curl -F "sprunge=<-" http://sprunge.us
And they show up fine: http://sprunge.us/MKBj
ăîşţâ
ĂÎŞŢÂ
Until a better explanation comes along, I've added this info to the BG:
Don't worry if some of the letters show up as white squares or as other symbols. It's probably just the console font missing those glyphs. The glyph codes are correct and if you press the correct keys they will show up fine when (or if) you set up a graphical environment later.

I guess I can mark it as solved...

A question about buying from the store
Hi,
I realise this is a little off topic but i don't want to waste peoples time on the phones and i cant find a category,
I recently bought say what you see iphone app from itunes using my card.
It said it was 0.59p and went through my account at £1.58.
I know it isn't much difference but it didn't tell me that there was a surcharge.
Thanks for any information,

How do I Erase & Install from the Install CD?
It's a long story but I need to do an Erase & Install on my new Intel iMac. I originally used Migration Assistant and my system is running super slow. People have suggested that perhaps I shouldn't have used Migration Assistant. So now I just want to clean the HD and start from scratch. Everyone tells me to just use the Install CD and go to Disk Utility. My question is how to I get to disk utility. When I boot from the Install CD it seems to think I only want to upgrade my system when in fact I want to erase the disk and start over. How to I get to Disk Unility?
Thanks,
BenExtended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disk. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled, if supported.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
After the formatting is completed quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed to install OS X.

How do you NOT start up from the install disk if it is in the CD drive?
This has to be a dumb question, but . . . I put my 10.4 install disk into the CD drive of the Mini to try an experiment, installing OS X on a thumb drive as a backup. It didn't work. Now the Mini will only start up from the install disk, not the internal drive (which has 10.5.8 on it).
The advice I have seen in the forum says to hold down the D key upon startup and that will choose the internal drive as the startup disk. That didn't work. Also, there was a suggestion to hold down the option key upon startup, and then choose the internal drive from the startup manager. No luck there, either. I also tried holding down the eject button on the keyboard during startup, but it still started up from the install disk.
I feel like I am in a 1 Infinite Loop here. Any advice much appreciated.
JimOops, I will now answer my own dumb question. I found another suggestion in the Powerbook forum that said to hold down the mouse button as it boots up, and the disk should eject -- it worked! I hope this will help somebody else. Sorry about the previous post.

How do I create a start-up disk image without restarting from the Install DVD?
(I know this is not MacBook Pro question per se, but I can't find a software discussion this applies to.)
Situation:
My MBP is running, but it's acting up and Onyx tells me that the start-up volume needs repair and directs me to use Disk Utility.
But to repair a volume using Disk Utility, you must restart from the original Install DVD (or some other start-up volume).
But although the MBP will read my old Leopard Install DVD and the Install DVD that came with my MBP, it refuses to restart from either of them. (Trying to do so gets as far as the Apple logo on a gray screen and then hangs there; all disk activity ceases.)
Question:
How can I (is it even possible to) create a start-up volume on my external FW drive without starting my MBP from a DVD?
In other words, is there a way to either:
a) create a disk image from the Install DVD on my external FW drive and then designate that disk image as my start-up drive?
OR
b) create a disk image on my MBP's internal drive that I can then use to run a System Install on my external drive?
(BTW, I know I can create disk images using Disk Utility, but it offers many options for type, compression, etc., that are beyond me. )
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!OS X Lion includes a new feature called Lion Recovery that includes all of the tools you need to reinstall Lion, repair your disk, and even restore from a Time Machine backup without the need for optical discs.
Restart your Mac holding down the Command-R to enter the Recovery HD.
From there you can use Disk Utilty.

My Mail program has gone south on Leopard on my 27-month old Macbook. I can't send, even though the server details are correct. I tried reinstalling the Mail program from the install DVD, but no go; apparently that two-year old Mail is no longer compatible with my up-to-date Leopard. I tried deleting the account (hotmail) from Mail and setting up a different account (Yahoo). After loading all the inbox two things happened: first, I still couldn't send, and second, when I closed the Mail window the whole inbox then disappeared and doesn't come back. Although I couldn't reinstall the Mail program from the install DVD, would it still be possible to reinstall the whole system from that DVD? If I do, will I lose files or will there be another problem since that DVD is now over two years old?
Thanks for any suggestions; they will be much appreciated.
P.S. I've just noticed that now I can't change the desktop picture: I go through the motions in Preferences, but the new picture doesn't appear on the desktop. Is there a systemic problem? You are waiting for an apology to something that happened over a year ago? Really? This is why there is a manager in the store. You have a problem with an employee you speak to the manager. Just like you did on the phone. You would have gotten your apology in July 2013.
Here is the information about your upgrade fee.
Upgrade Fee
It is because when you have a problem you (customers) go running to the store and want to take up the time of the reps to fix it. Other carriers have third parties that deal with technical support and those locations are few and far between. VZW provides this directly through their stores. Also, when you subsidize a $650 and pay $200 VZW has to pay $400. Your monthly service fee doesn't begin to scratch the surface of paying that back. Not with all the money that is put into the network and its improvements.
Then over a year later you get someone on the phone who apologized and offered to waive the fee on your phone and you didn't take it? That offer won't come down the pike again.
One thing you should know is that all these employees are people and as such they sometimes come off cross. I doubt that you speak to everyone so sweetly all the time. Cut them a little slack and put this whole thing behind you after 15 months. Either upgrade with VZW or move on. -

I am would like to reset the admin and the password. Help says to start from the install dvd. I put it in held the c key untill the gray apple came on. The drive starts like it is going to start, then stops and the zero with the slash comes on and all stops. This an IMac G5 running 10.4.10, using the 10.4 dvd.
ThanksMake sure the Install DVD is the one that *originally came w/your computer*, not scratched, dirty or smudged.
The Install DVD does take awhile to complete. Just keep holding down the "c" key until it takes.

How can I install windows 7 in bootcamp from the install CD using superdrive
Hey Guys.
I'm a pilot and want to use flight simulator X which is a windows only program. So what I want to do is use bootcamp but when I go into bootcamp assitant I cant partion or install windows from the install CD its asking for a ISO file the following error occurs. "There is no USB drive connected to the system. Please insert a USB drive to continue " but the thing is I dont want to install from USB I want to install from USB Super Drive with the Installation Disk
ThanksMake sure that the option to create a USB installation drive is unticked. Also, Boot Camp Assistant allows you to download the Windows support software onto a USB drive, that you will need after installing Windows to make the computer run correctly. You should do that.
Apart from that, you should be able to continue with the Windows installation. Follow the Apple's steps > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf -
How can I change the default pdf reader from the installed (but not yet registered) Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro to Adobe Reader XI? I'm having some hiccups getting Adobe to register the software, but since I set it as the default .pdf reader during setup, things try (and fail) to open in the as yet unregistered software. How can I change it temporariiy to the Acrobat Reader XI that I have installed?
Anubha,
It worked! Thank you so much.
I'd opened file with the 'Open with' feature then clicking Adobe Reader,
but that didn't do it. When I used 'Open with', then 'Choose default
program...', it worked like a charm.
Again, thank you!

Hard disk errors, but can't boot from the install DVD
My mini reports disk errors when I run the Disk Utility Verify on the main boot hard drive. However, I have not been able to boot the computer from the install DVD. I try restarting while holding down the C key, and still it boots from the internal drive. I've tried option-restart, and do not get the opportunity to select a boot disk. An external USB drive, on which I periodically clone the main disk, now does not mount. Disk Utility says it too has errors, and it is unable to repair them. A third external USB drive appears to be OK.
The computer is still operating, apparently normally, otherwise. This computer should still be under warranty. I bought it in April, as I recall.
Any help will be much appreciated.<sigh>
I've attempted most of these things.
The drive on which I had the system clone died at essentially the same time as the problem came up with the errors on the main drive. I suspect this was due to the same root cause, or a related problem, just because of the timing. I'd cloned the main drive approximately a week previously with apparently no problem.
I also have been unable to boot from the install DVD.
The other external drive, the one that still works, is one I use mostly for rolling backups of my documents, photo and music folders. It is not big enough to hold a clone of the main drive. In any case, I'm assuming that if I attempted to clone it now, it would either not work, or I'd simply copy the errors to the clone.
I haven't used the Time Machine, since I didn't feel I had an external drive large enough to make it useful.
What 3rd party software do you recommend? Keep in mind, as I also mentioned earlier, that the computer is still under warranty, and I'm loath to do anything that could be construed as voiding the warranty.
I'm also on a pretty restricted budget, due to recent car repairs. -
Question about setup_MITE in the PCI-MIO-16E-1
I have a quick question about setup_MITE in the PCI-MIO-16E-1. In one of the manuals, it states that if you're using Dell Optiplex GX series for our hardware configuration, is it true we need to re-write the MITE functions to correlate with the hardware? Please if you can clarify what this means, I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

C. Structure
D. Units
E. Hierarchy
My answer is A,B,D,E.
The answer in the book is A,B,D
Can anybody tell me which one is wrong?
Thanks in advance,

1.The answer could be A,B,D.you can not apply filters on hierarchies
2.Whenever there is a change in Attribute data(like Location,Num etc...)that has to be reflected in all aggregates of the cube.Thsi can be done by running "ATTRIBUTE CHANGE RUN".

What functionality does this setting enable when checked? The only thing I find in product documentation (CM2012_Web.chm, 2/1/2014) states:
For applications to be installed by using a dynamic variable list, the following setting must be enabled on the
General tab of the application’s Properties dialog box:
Allow this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action instead of deploying manually
Note - My ConfigMgr 2012 R2 CU1 Application Properties now displays a tab labeled "General Information". I do not find one labeled "General". The configuration setting also reads "Allow this application to be installed
from the install software task sequence action without being deployed" instead of "Allow this application to be installed from the Install Application task sequence action instead of deploying manually"
Is application installation using a dynamic variable list the only time this configuration setting is used and functions?Yes, you only have to check that when using the dynamic variable list(s).
