[solved..quickly!] After upgrade: error: libusb...exists in filesystem

After updating my file system trying to get Arch working. After the files download, there are several error messages saying that;
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
libusb: /usr/include/libusb-1.o/libusb.h exists in fielsystem
libusb: /usr/lib/libusb-1.0-a exists in filesystem
libusb: /usr/lib/libusb-1.0.so exists in filesystem
libusb: /usr/lib/libusb-1.0-so.0 "  "  "
  "           "          "     10.so.0.0.0    "    "
  "           /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libusb-1.0.pc   "    "
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
What's the workaround when i see this?

Amazed at how fast the response was, looks like I'm not the first person to ask..
I ran the first file and got:
pacman -Qo /usr/include/libusb-1.0/libusb.h is owned by libusb1 1.0.8-1
I ran  /usr/include/libusb-1.0/libusb.h through the bug report and it said "search returned no results"
I haven't run the remaining files through the bug report search, but all files are owned by libusb1 1.0.8-1

  • 'RSTS_READ' after upgrade error Required conversion not possible (ZFORM16)

    Hi,
We have recently upgraded from SAP 4.7 to SAP ECC 6.0.
For client requirements, they have developed ZFORM16 in 2006 by copying the standard form HINCF160.
But after upgradation, when we execute ZFORM16  for 2006 data we are getting the error message:
                             Required conversion not possible
Some analysis of the issue is:
    1)     In include: ZPCF16IN3 at statement:    PERFORM read_temse.         " MDSNT927906
    2)     It is going to include : ZPCF16IN8 we are getting the error message at the statement :
    call function 'RSTS_READ'
The error message is: Required conversion not possible
When I have checked the standard of form 16 HINCF160 code in ECC 6.0 is as:
In include PCF16IN3, PERFORM read_temse. Statement is commented and the corresponding form in PCF16IN8 include is also commented (Form  read_temse)  and now SAP is using different logic to get the DETAILS  OF TAX DEDUCTED.
If I try to comment the PERFORM read_temse in ZPCF16IN3 then I am able to get the Form16 but DETAILS  OF TAX DEDUCTED are not displayed. DETAILS  OF TAX DEDUCTED logic is in PERFORM read_temse in ZPCF16IN3.
Can someone help me in solving the issue?
    Regards,
    Prem

We had to restart SAP & Oracle and the issue is solved

  • ITunes won't start after upgrade--error message

When I launched iTunes after upgrading to 6.0.1, I got the following message after agreeing to the usual legal terms:
"The folder "iTunes" cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "Music" folder."
    Any suggestions?

    Jeff,
Thank you for the reply and your suggestions.
Yes, I did take a look in the Music folder--and no, the file was not there. I then used Spotlight and did find an iTunes Music folder, but when I tried to copy it to the Music folder I got error message -36, saying that parts of the file weren't readable and, therefore, not copyable.
I also used my disk utility to repair permissions and re started the computer---with the same results.
I'm not sure what else to try and may take my computer to my local expert.
    best,
    als

  • [SOLVED] /usr/share/aclocal/nspr.m4 exists in filesystem

pacman -Syu fails with this error:
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    nspr: /usr/share/aclocal/nspr.m4 exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I found this thread, which suggested resyncing mirrors, but that didn't help.

FYI: archlinux is widely known for our excellent wiki.  Be sure to check there and search the forums before starting new threads.  Many problems can be solved with a good search.
As a second FYI, I don't know if the use of the manjaro boards (linked in OP) was just a coincidence of what your previous search gave you or if you are using Manjaro.  If it's the latter there are many differences between Manjaro and Archlinux.  In this case they are similar enough to share a solution, but in other cases we would be unable to help you here.  In short, if you are using Manjaro, be sure to ask on their forums if you have future problems.

  • Pacman error: FILENAME exists in filesystem

This comes up quite often, and since users are not using the excellent forum search function, it will be stickied.
    error: could not prepare transaction
error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
    libname: /insert/file/name/here exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
Why this is happening: pacman has detected a file conflict, and by design, will not overwrite files for you. This is a design feature, not a flaw.
It is the user's responsibility to maintain their system, not the package manager's. (pacman -Qo may be invoked to query which package owns the file, if any.)
What can be done to solve this: The issue is usually trivial to solve. A safe way is to firstly check if another package owns the file (pacman -Qo <full file path>).  If the file is owned by another package file a bug report If the file is not owned by another package rename (or remove) the the file which 'exists in filesystem', and reissue the pacman -Syu command. If all goes well, the file may then be removed.
As always, there may be exceptions, so check the front page Arch news, Announcement lists, and optionally the forum and Mailing Lists for possible known issues.
pacman can also be forced to overwrite the files, if you know what you are doing. Please read this post for more information.

If that's what happens, then there's something wrong. Let's call it common sense . 200 files is quite a lot. I've never had a 'massive' update myself that gave that many duplicate files - I hope you took the time to read Misfit138's recommendations and acted upon them - and I hope you update regularly, but your wording suggests you don't. That in itself can cause things to break more easily.
Also - I recommend you open your own topic instead of hijacking a sticky for this. This isn't supposed to turn into a help topic.

  • Firefox will not start after upgrade: error code 2324

I upgraded Firefox on my workstation running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit). The stub installer downloads and runs through the installation, but does not start Firefox automatically. If I click on the link in the taskbar, nothing happens. Same with the one pinned to the start menu. If I go to the Mozilla folder and load Firefox from there, I get a message saying "The installer encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2324."

    Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

  • My battery drains really quickly after upgrading to OS X Yosemite

I recently upgraded to OS X Yosemite.   After doing so, my battery drains VERY quickly.  About 1 percent per minute.   Is there any fix for this?   Can I roll back my OS?

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.

  • IPhone 4s heats up and drains battery quickly after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2

Last Sunday i.e. on 14-Dec-2014 i upgraded my iPhone 4S (WiFI + 3G, 64GB) to iOS 8.1.2. Since then my iPhone's battery has started to drain out abnormally fast (it doesn't even last an hour after charging it fully to 100%) and the phone even heats up simultaneously. When checked under Settings> Usage> Battery Usage, i found the app-wise usage of battery like this: Phone (Audio) 36%, WhatsApp-24%, Home & Lock Scree-17%, Settings-7%, Messages-5%, Mail-4%, TOI-2%, Conatact-2%, and rest few apps 1% each. Prior to upgrading the iOS to 8.1.2, the battery life of my iPhone was normal: i just had to recharge once in 24 hours with normal usage of the phone. Could anybody help me to fix the problem? Thanks in advance. -BBS Ijam, GTK/SKM/171214

I think iPhone 4s is oLd now we need to update our as I will have to change my battery from repair center maybe this will solve the problem the new iOS are heavy for our phones.
*** I also have extra internal battery cover for my iPhone. I can't go out without that cover because my iPhone battery drain so fast from 100% it will be maybe 60 % so fast that is so annoying.
Long story short my iPhone is screwed up I think I don't trust my iPhone battery anymore.

  • After upgrade: Error code: ssl_error_ssl_disabled in Firefox 3.6.10 Mac OS 10.6.4 - no mozilla-based "solution" works!

In Firefox settings: SSL 3.0 is used, no proxy, network.dns.disableIPv6 set to true. The Mac OS firewall has been tested as turned off/on, but still no secure website (e.g. gmail) can be loaded. This happened first after the upgrade to 3.6.6. I then trashed 3.6.6, freshly installed 3.6.10 from scratch, same thing.
What a ridiculous glitch... wasted 3 hours on this already. About to move to other browsers after many years on firefox...
The whole error message (note the website.... )===========
    Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to support.mozilla.com.
Can't connect securely because the SSL protocol has been disabled.
    (Error code: ssl_error_ssl_disabled)

yes - I have the same issue on four different people's new MacBook Pro's on 10.6.4. I have deleted the Profiles numerous times, but the issue still occurs at least once every two weeks.

  • [Solved] Problems after upgrading graphics card

I just upgraded my 8800GTX to a GTX650. I ran "nvidia-xconfig" initially then "nvidia-settings" to make sure both of my monitors looked good. After rebooting I have Openbox running on only my "main" screen. I can move my mouse to the second screen, but when I do the cursor changes to the default X one and I can't do anything there. I also can't drag windows to my secondary screen.
I figure it is something to do with twinview not working properly, or some other xorg.conf configuration problem. Here is a link to my xorg.conf: http://pastie.org/private/zo9fikanxumf4haqaya2eg
    Any help would be great.
EDIT: Solved. In nvidia-settings I needed to set both displays to the same X screen

In your motherboard manual it describes how to re-set the CMOS. Taking out the battery would work but it's easier to re-set the CMOS via the jumper pins. It also holds info on bios features and settings in the manual so you might want to scan through that and see if there's anything you might change.
Have you tried the graphics card in another computer? Do you get the same problems?
Ok - I now found out which jumpers to change - thank you.
I have tried putting my old graphics card back in but still had the problem.
On Sunday someone is going to switch ram chips (his are good in his machine) with me and hopefully we'll establish whether or not my physical ram modules are ok.
Seem very strange to me that both of my modules (one was ok a month ago and the other just arrived from Crucial) fail the same test - memtest #7 - random memory but then I'm only an egg when it comes to this stuff.
Many thanks for everyone's help !
    Mike
Well I don't know if it's good news or bad news !?
Have just tested my system with a known to be good ram module and ?
My machine failed Memtest #7 - the machine that the 'borrowed' ram came from passes the test.
So I will reset the bios I guess.

  • [SOLVED] Problem after upgrade to Anki 2.0.4-1

    Hiya,
Today pacman upgraded anki from 2.0.3-1 to 2.0.4-1, which seems to have broken anki.
When try to run Anki, I get a message saying
Please build and install the PortAudio Python bindings first.
(which I got before, when Anki worked correctly) and a popup saying

EDIT: Sorry, should I have made a bug report for this instead? I'll file one now.
    Regards,
    Last edited by Snark1994 (2013-01-09 22:13:48)

I confirm this is a bug. It has nothing to do with pyaudio. It seems there is some problem with sync.py. The problematic code quoted in the error messages runs without problem independently but fails when called by anki. We probably should file the bug in anki.
In the meantime, a dirty fix is to comment out the following to lines
      from anki.sync import httpCon
      import aqt.sync # monkey-patches httplib2
    in /usr/share/anki/aqt/downloader.py.
After this, anki is usable but the sync function will be temporarily disabled.

  • [SOLVED] Problems after upgrades and installations

I installed some packages today and did an upgrade. Now certain of my daemons are not starting on boot and I have to start them manually. I tried downgrading the kernel but that didn't help.
    Here's my daemons line in /etc/rc.conf -
DAEMONS=(syslog-ng dbus gdm network @ntpd netfs crond dbus hal fam slim sensors mysqld mythbackend motion @monitorix @alsa @sshd samba @cupsd @cpufreq lircd @httpd !ddclient monitd)
I haven't checked all of them but monitorix, lircd and httpd all have to be started manually. Something odd has also happened with lirc. irexec doesn't seem to be starting from its startup script. Once I start it manually and do an irw, only the remote's up, down, left and right keys are recognised (and give strange ascii symbolic output to irw) while the other keys don't seem reognised at all.

I know I should have upgraded before installing the new packages but I'd be surprised if that was the cause of the problem.
Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

Things have gone from bad to worse -
I edited the Daemons line which now looks like this -
    DAEMONS=(dbus syslog-ng !gdm network @ntpd netfs crond !hal fam slim sensors mysqld mythbackend @motion @monitorix @alsa @sshd samba @cupsd @cpufreq lircd @httpd !ddclient @monitd)
I also upgraded the kernel (after downgrading before) with a pacman -Suy which also installed some new xorg packages.

Now I seem to be getting a lower level problem. After grub the system is now giving me a message that it can't find or mount the root partition. I'm also getting this message when trying to boot my fallback root partition (cloned about a week ago) but can succesfully boot my previous fallback root partition (cloned about 6 months ago). (All on the same hdd). Very strange and a real bugger. Things were working beautifully up until those really-pretty-minor upgrades this morning.
Re some of the specific items referred to above -
    Merging pacnew files-
I went through them all again but all looks good. I don't delete the pacnew's. I keep them and comment where I have made changes in the in-use files. BTW I use meld with this excellent command (as su) to compare my files vs the pacnew's.
for file in $(find /etc -name '*.pacnew'); do meld ${file/.pacnew/} $file; done
    Re lirc -
This is the post I was referring to. My dvb-tuner cards are recognised as IR devices as well and I think the order of loading was random, hence requiring all of those lines.
It is working fine in the 6-month old fallback partition I am currently booted into.
I know there are separate threads about the unable-to-mount-root-partition issue as I've had that problem in the past, so back to those it seems.
If anybody has some brainwaves to help me in the meantime I'd really appreciate it.  I have made a lot of changes since my fallback partitions and would love to boot my latest root partition have it working normally.
    Thanks
