[Solved] Reboot pulldown menu in KDE4

I wonder if someone succeed in enabling this feature under archlinux, with kde 4.
I have the line "default saved" in my menu.lst and I have also added the line "savedefault" at the end of each boot section. The reboot pulldown menu appears and give me the choice of what to reboot with, but it doesn't have any effect (it always reboot with the first boot section written in the grub).
Maybe I missed something ? [edit] solved with KDE 4.4.

Yes, but this faultly behaviour only occurs with the use of the kde4 reboot pulldown menu (the command "grub-set-default" works well).

How to access data selected through a cascading pulldown menu?

Hi,
I'm having the hardest of times trying to get my cascading pulldown menu to do what I want. The problem being is that from the original menu selection the user is able to cascade 2 levels down so by the time he/she actually releases the mouse button the menu item that is selected is something like this:
with "object" being the top level menu selection:
object->color->blue
or
object->shape->triangle
etc..
So now the problem is that I need to be able to display on the front panel what the user selected WITHOUT making a string indicator in each case. I want to be able to have just one string indicator for each level of the pull down so one would display: shape or color and the other w
ould display the actual color??? Please there has to be an easy way of doing this! I have looked through all the menu example and I can't find anything on cascading menus, Thanks in advance,

Either you misunderstood or I misunderstood your answer. After reading the LabVIEW manual it seems that the use of local variables will solve my problem. My question was basically how can I have 1 front panel display object display values that can be set in different places in the VI, so I think I can do it with local variables. I just need to put say 4 local vairables , each in a separate case statement and have them all point to one front panel indicator. Let me know if you think this is the correct way of doing it,

Why is font pulldown menu not working?

I'm using FCP 5.0.3 - and the font pulldown menu isn't working. It was working before and now just stopped. All that's available is the Lucida Grande default font. Does anyone know why this would be.
I threw out my preferences and restarted my computer to no avail. Any clues?

Have you installed any program recently that came with it's own fonts?
High probability that something bad has happened to your system and/or user fonts folder.
Open up the Application 'Font Book' and take a look. sometime if you have multiple instances of fonts, they can collide and cause problems.
Follow the Font Book Help (A bullet appears in my fonts list) to check for duplicates and then disable them.
It can be other things as well.

Pulldown menue on iTunes is not full

The pulldown menue on iTunes is not full, as it lacks for the details for changing movie file.

This problem may depend on what setting you are on in iTunes.
Connect your iPod to your computer, and in iTunes, go to "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod" under the "music" tab. The setting that you want to be on is: "Automatically update selected songs" (that's the seting with the iTunes playlist songs automatically copying to your iPod).
You may be on this setting: "manually manage songs".
If you aren't on the correct setting that you want, ("automatically update selected songs"), then this is possibly where the problem started. Make sure that you are on the desired option that you want in "Edit -> Preferences -> iPod."
If you're already on the correct option in iTunes, but your music isn't being transferred to your iPod correctly, try restoring your iPod (click on the link below for details):
Restoring your iPod
Restoring will delete all the content off your iPod, but should not affect your iTunes library. This process will take about 5 minutes.

I just want to use a picture as my DVD cover, and then insert a slideshow. Also, when I try to burn my 8.5gb double sided slideshow, all that burns is the music. It is a large slideshow, a memorial on the life of my now deceased brother. This means a lot to me and to my family, and I am having so much trouble trying to burn it. I have gone into Project View and selected appropriately. The bar shows I have room to burn this DVD, but it does not burn. I have burned so many DVDs in the past, but this one just will not burn. I am so confused at this point. I will say this is the first 8.5gb I have attempted to create and burn. My specs list a 7.7gb or 4.7gb as operable....but there are no 7.7gb dvds. I had to purchase 8.5gb. Help? What am I doing wrong? I have spent so much time on this, and just cannot figure it out.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor. The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here.

I can using AirPrint from safari and email to my hp printer but do not get print as an option from the pulldown menu from the new york times and other apps. How can I print directly from these apps?

I can't seem to print directly from apps like the new York times. Print is not an option from the pulldown menu. Print to my hp printer works fine from safari and email though and from some other apps. Do some apps not permit printing? That doesn't right.

Standard behavior is that Airprint always works with iBooks, Mail, Photos, and Safari. Apps are up to their author.

FF 5 bookmarks pulldown menu is broken -- cannot go from individual bookmark folders back to main bookmark list -- sticks on the folders and won't move to other bookmarks -- system is Intel Mac on OS 10.5.8.

When you go to the bookmarks pulldown menu at the top of the screen, the menu window that opens is much wider than previous browser versions. often stretching the full width of the browser window itself.
In addition, once the cursor opens a bookmarks folder in a contextual side menu, you cannot go back to the main pulldown menu. It sticks there. You have to move the cursor up though the TOP of the contextual menu to free it to close the menu window. Simply moving the cursor back to the original menu does nothing -- the contextual menu sticks open as the active one.
It will often take several attempts to land the cursor on the bookmarks folder you want to open before the cursor will hit it without opening other nearby folders, getting stuck in the process. I can't just move the cursor to what I'd like to open. (Cursor is functioning normally in all other apps and windows.)
All other menus are fine. This occurs only with the bookmarks menu.
Machine is an Imac dual core 2.25 running Leopard 10.5.8. Firefox is version 5.0.
This behavior is repeatable on both a fresh download of FF5 and on the upgraded 4.0 to 5. Does not matter if launched in full mode or safe mode with no plugins -- same menu bug.
All plugins are updated, including Download Helper, Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight and a few others. They all pass the plugin tests.
This menu bug happens every time the FF browser is opened. No exceptions.
Would sure love to have version 4 back until this bug is fixed, but I can no longer locate it on the Firefox website. As it currently sits, the browser is virtually unusable. :-(

Small correction to original post. Machine is an iMac 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. (I was at home when I made the first post.) But the bookmarks menu behavior still exists today and FF 5 is essentially unusable.
System details next to the post are not for machine with the bug in question.
Found a copy of FF4 to use until a solution is found. Turned off automatic updates to preserve this version.

Adding symbols to the pulldown menu in FrameMaker 7 and 8

I am attempting to add a Section symbol to the pulldown menu. This symbol does not seem to be listed in the menus.cfg file, but I found the "\xa4" definition in the Character Sets PDF file that comes with FrameMaker. This is the procedure I'm using, but it is not working and the symbol does not appear in the dropdown list: 1) In the cmds.cfg file, under the *** Special Menu ***, I added the following text: <Command CharSection> <Label Section> <Definition \xa4> 2) In the menus.cfg file, under *** Pull RIght Menus ***, under the list that starts with <Add CharBullet <MEnu SpecialSymbols>>, I added the following line of text: <Add CharSection <Menu SpecialSymbols>> 3) I saved and closed both files, restarted FrameMaker, and the Section symbol does not appear in the list. I hope that someone can help with this problem.

Jay, If you don't use the <Label ...> modifier when defining your character, then you won't see it on any menu, any where. ;-) e.g. <Command CharSection <Label Section \xA4> <Definition \xA4>>

Nope, there is no second row. There should be a scroll arrow "button" at the bottom and the top of that drop-down to allow you scroll, or you can use the scroll wheel on the mouse scroll further down (or back up).

Unable to create multiple link pulldown menu

Hi, I'm trying to create an animated pulldown menu. It works
when I TEST MOVIE, but when I put it in my Flash web page, the
getURL code link does not work.
Also, in the TEST MOVIE, it only works for one link on the
pulldown at a time. As soon as I add another link on the pulldown,
it cancels out the previous one.
My code is attached (graciously contributed by another
forum-ite): I have a WOMEN button at the top that changes color on
rollover and produces the pulldown with several choices. One of the
choices is "What's New" and is a movie clip and instance. I have

           You can create multiple target systems only for different business system groups.If all the business systems like R3_QA1,R3_QA2, R3_QA3 belong to the same business group "QA_BUS_GROUP" , then you can have only one among the three system as target.
           So R3_DEV can have only one system as target either R3_QA1 Or R3_QA2 or R3_QA3 since they belong to the same business group "QA_BUS_GROUP".
            If there are three different business system groups then you can have 3 target systems that correspond to their respective business system groups ,in this case source business system can be assigned to the 3 target systems that belong to different business system groups .
           Since that is not the case with your scenario, you cannot create multiple target systems.

Where is the pulldown menu?

I am trying to update a pulldown menu in Dreamweaver 8 from a previously uploaded file that I did not do, but can't find it anywhere, not as an image file, not in the code. where do I look?

The menu doesn't work at all in Firefox. I do see it in IE7. It's called a drop-down or fly-out menu.

I guess I wouldn't recommend using a menu like that. But that's what you will have to edit. What changes do you want to make?

Are you asking about screenshots in general? You have three choices: the entire Mac's screen, an entire window including the title bar, or a selection created by dragging a selection rectangle.

To take a screenshot for posting on this site hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse button. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot on your Desktop.
If you can't find it on your Desktop look in your Documents or Downloads folder.
When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field.
This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.
⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.
⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.
Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.
