[SOLVED] Run cronjob asynchronous, but preferably at a given time?
Hello!
How can I add a cronjob, which should run preferably at a specified time (like every day 5 o clock in the morning), but if the computer is off at that time, it will run some other time?
To make it run every day at 5 o clock, I can use "00 05 * * * /home/tom/_scripts/bkp.sh". But if the computer is off at that time, it wont run that day.
So to make it run asynchronous, I should use @daily.
How can I combine those two options?

As I understand it, FREQ=1d has the same effect as @daily. I'm not sure with either one you can actually set a 'preferred' time, unless it's a time range. For example, if you have @daily set and your backup runs at 0500 on Sunday, then Monday you don't turn on the computer until 1600 (4pm) so the backup runs at 4pm, then Tuesday it wouldn't run again until sometime after 4pm, because it hasn't been a full day yet. I don't believe (anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here!!) that you could do a normal (d)cron job that would would run on Monday at 4 (because the machine's not on) and then again Tuesday morning at 5am when you'd really prefer it to run. The time range (07-15 from my example above) does give some more flexibility, but I don't think exactly what you're looking for.

I can't seem to get my iMac (late 2009 model) into automatic sleep mode. If I manually put it into sleep I don't have any issues.
I used to solve the issue by running "PleaseSleep" application but that doesn't work anymore since Lion. I now want to fix the underlying problem.
I'm not running any weird background processes and in my energy saver settings I've tagged "put the hard disk to sleep when possible:, "allow power button to put computer to sleep" and "automatically reduce brigthness". All pretty standard.
Is there anyone who can give me some pointers ?Today I solved the same problem for my iMac running Snow Leopard. See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3008791#15947706. The method may help you, too.
For me it was the DynDNS Updater preventing my iMac from automatically entering sleep mode.
To my knowledge the cause of this sleep problem can only be a peripheral device or a process. So I suggest to first unplug all peripherals and test whether that's the cause. If not, I suggest to terminate one process after another and to test automatic entering of sleep mode after each. Start with user processes; continue with system process if necessary.
At least that's the way I found the offending process. Fortunately, I was able to change the configuration of that process to allow again automatic entering of sleep mode.

I tried calling this VI Asynchronously again later in my Sequence and it doesn't seem to be running.
What I do is call this vi that starts a sinewave @ x hertz, y volts. Do some testings on other outputs in Teststand 4.1. STOP the vi by passing a parameter into the vi that is running asynchronously ( as in the above example). Now I want to chg the freq to z hertz and w volts. I tried calling the vi asynchronously again w the new values but there isn't anything on my output. What am I doing wrong??
Should I pass the values in as parameters like the STOP?? that would mean creating a dozen values...amp, freq,etc. Why can't I call the same vi again using the Run VI Asynchronously?

I am having difficulty "stopping" the VI that is running asyncrhonously in another Thread. It often times will execute the VI in the background, and other times it will give me an error:
"Unknown variable or property name 'Stop'. in Filename.vi-> Filename.vi.Proxy Caller"
Error Code: -17036; Unknown Variable or Property name.
If it doesn't give me any error, and executes properly, it won't stop with the f(x) statement of "Parameters.Stop = True"

Teststand 4.1.1 Crashes when using two or more "run VI Asynchronously" at a time
I am running a terminal window reading constantly from a serial port running in a different thread using "Run VI Asynchronously".
Towards the end of the test I open a separate VI in another thread also using "Run VI Asynchronously". This VI constantly reads packets from the Ethernet.
I am running the Sequence in the C++ User interface and for some reason every once in a while TestStand Crashes and in the dialog it it says
"MFC Operator interface Example has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Error signature:

Do any of you have any idea as to why this would do this? Also what is the best way to open and close these threads?

Go to Solution.In case 1 below you should definitely be using the sequence context of the new thread rather than the original thread. Using a subsequence (in a new thread) directly is a good idea for that use case.
In case 2 are you dynamically/programmatically creating local variables in any of the threads or are you just setting/getting values? Setting and getting values is protected by the TestStand engine, but dynamically creating properties underneath Locals or other containers requires you to do your own thread synchronization (i.e. using locks) around such modifications and access.
Also, in case 2 you are using locals from the original thread that creates the new thread right? Is that what you want? It would be safer to pass the actual local variables that you need in this case as parameters rather than passing the sequence context that belongs to a different thread. Also do you start and stop the asynchronous vi in the same subsequence in the same thread? Do you wait for the asynchronous VI to finish before exiting the subsequence?
All that run VI Asynchronously does is create a temporary sequence and use the sequence call step to call it in a new thread, so doing that explicitly instead will give you more control over how the parameters are passed so it's probably worth making that change anyway. You might however need to be doing more than that to ensure thread safety depending on what parameters you are passing in and what the VIs and other code in the original thread is doing with them.

I have tried to install and run Captivate 4 but it tell me I have this product installed on 2 other computers. I do not have this installed on any other computers.
How do I solve this issue so I can use the Captivate software?- You can only sync with one iTune library but you can manually music music and vides with different computers. To do so go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.

[SOLVED] Running OpenGL applications?
I am writing a simple game using freeglut and it compiles fine but I can't run it - the program compiles fine AND runs under Windows but in Windows I have to stick the freeglut.dll in the same directory, do I have to do something similar in Linux?
(the program is platform independant!)

CF10 App server running after reboot; but website unavailable until service restart
Hello, everyone.
I recently returned to a job I previously had after several months at a different job. Upon my return, I inherited someone else's dev system (my previous dev system, apparently, had been reimaged and given to someone else, after I left.)
This system originally had CF9 server on it (the ColdFusion9 folder is still here) and now has CF10. Using the built-in web server (no IIS, no Apache.)
Every time I boot/reboot the system, I can see in Computer Manage System that CF10 Application Server is, indeed, running. But if I try to open any of the pages that I am working on, I get an error message that the site can't be found.
I go into Computer Manage System, go to Services, right-click the CF10 Application Server, choose "Restart", wait for it to finish, and voila!, I can get a working page.
Does anyone know why this is happening, and/or how to remedy it so that CF will work immediately after boot/reboot without going to restart the service?

If you may still want to know exactly why that was causing an issue, I would propose something I didn’t yet see anyone else do: look specifically at the CF log called coldfusion-out.log. That is basically the “console log” when you run CF as a service, and it would be interesting to know what was in that log if you compared the startup messages in your working and failing examples.
The log tracks info generally for days if not weeks or months (depending on what else is logged in the file and how quickly it fills), but it may well give you insight into what was up. I’m not saying there WILL be something there. As Anit said, what you experienced was odd, but if there will be something logged anywhere about this, it may be there.
If nothing else, I leave this here for anyone else who has a similar sort of problem in the future.

My late 2009 iMac is running slow, particularly on Mail, more so since I upgraded to Yosemite. I have run an Etrecheck but it doesn't mean too much to me. If anyone can point me to what I need to do I'll be very grateful.

I've now installed the ad blocker, thrown away the unwanted files, and thrown away a copy of Firefox that Adware said had a problematic extension.
Things are better, but still slow.
Activity Monitor shows that with just Mail, Chrome and Excel running, 2.9GB of my 4GB RAM is used. Opening InDesign (always slow) increase that to 3.2GB. But the graph stays green.
Console shows several potential problems but I don't know if any are significant. In any case I will call my Mac store tomorrow to ask their advice about RAM.

I am new to both SCCM and Powershell, but from my point of view, this should work, considering that the syntax is not actually incorrect? Please could anyone with any idea drop some hints and tips on how to
stop this issue.I'm not using 3 admin accounts at once if that's how it sounded. I have tried 3 different Admin accounts because I felt that perhaps the difference in permissions may have made a difference in whether I was able to run the syntax and scripts. So I tried
using my own personal administrator account, the SCCMNA account, and the local admin account, which I read worked.
At this point in the task sequence I have:
- Installed the OS
- Connected to the domain
- Installed Applications such as; Flash, Shockware, Reader etc.
Once it has installed the last application within a folder called "Helper Apps" (Which contains various Java and Adobe apps which install fine) it will then run a "Use Toolkit Package" using the MDT toolkit, once this stage is complete
it then progresses to the Script Exception section of the TS.
powershell.exe -noninteractive Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy unrestricted
I obviously need this to work otherwise I am not allowed to run the script, but because this syntax is "incorrect" it stops the task sequence.
I hope this information might shed some more light on the situation. -

I want to give users ability to schedule a report to run in background but No access to transaction Sm37.
What can be the process/steps to work and morever if we do this is there any disadvantages that users

I agree with the others (also about SMX and SMXX to display their own jobs, but not change them afterwards), but which report (tree) is this?
You can still give the user an ability to maintain a variant via transaction VARCH though (no execute possibility) . It will check S_PROGRAM p_action VARIANT or look for a user specific protection flag.
But then the user can submit it online as well from other transactions. That is why I thought you were looking for a way to run it as low priority in the background only.

Have been struggling for days trying to get into the itunes store. Have contacted support with no help. I have been reading how some have typed something into a DOS prompt and have resolved their issues. One stated to "search cmd, right click, and run as admininstrator" but where is this? I own a 13-inch MacBook Pro and for the past day, my wifi on my laptop says I only have two bars of connection and is running very slow,but all of my other devices such as my iPhone and iPad are connecting perfectly to the wifi. How can I fix this? I have tried to shut my laptop off and let it rest and I have also re-started my wifi router three different times. Someone please help me with this problem so I can begin to use my laptop again as I take it to school and use it for class.
Thanks so much!FCP, and all software on OSX, has a few different "preference" files (the extension is .plist), which store all your user settings. Each time you resize a window, change a setting, anything, this file is re-written. Kinda easy to see how they would become corrupt every now and then.
-Close FCP
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences and delete com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
-Navigate to User>Library>Preferences>Final Cut Pro User Data and delete Final Cut Pro 5.0 Prefs
-Empty your trash
Relaunch FCP and see if that worked.
Download FCP Rescue to make this process easier in the future. When you have FCP running really smooth, open FCP Rescue and create a backup of your preference files. If it starts acting wanky, just run FCP Rescue and Restore your backup preferences. Works really slick, and it's free.

I have an app called Astrogold that crashes when I run one function, but no one else I know with the same app experiences the crash. The app writes several different reports, and gives the option of sending them as PDF files. All the other reports generate fine, but one of them....and that one crashes the app while it is trying to generate the report.
Note: it only crashes the display. If I double click the home button I see the app itself is still running.
I checked my Diagnostics & Usage data, and noticed that every time the app crashes a LowMemory report is created. I looked at the LowMemory report and see that the Largest process is Astrogold. But I don't see any reports with the name of the app itself.
I have an iPhone 5c, and according to iTunes I have 2.25 GB Free.

Why does a track not pan when you send it to Itunes?
