[Solved]sane 1.0.15 and HP scanjet 3300c

Hello everybody,
I've a question about sane and my scanner. Normally it's supported in the version 1.0.15 of sane and under (k)Ubuntu, Fedora, Debian it works but here, I can't. When I launch kooka or xsane I see my scanner with the correct device but it allways says "device busy" so I can't scan
Thanks for your help

[saintshakajin@LeGuerrierLegendaire ~]$ cat /etc/group|grep scan
scanner::96:saintshakajin
I'm in.
[root@LeGuerrierLegendaire saintshakajin]# sane-find-scanner
  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [Hewlett-Packard], product=0x0205 [HP ScanJet 3300C]) at libusb:002:005
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.
  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program
I've tried scanimage in root and it works, it's strange because I'm in the group scanner.

  • How to install drivers for HP Color Laserjet 1215 and HP Scanjet G2410 on Mavericks?

    I recently purchased MacBook Pro and upgraded the OS to Mavericks. I am unable to find drivers for my HP Color Laserjer CP1215 printer and HP Scanjet G2410 scanner which I was using with HP Laptop. Google search yielded instructions at http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com/INSTALL.osx for the HP CP1215 printer. However, the instructions don't seem to be working on Mavericks. So, I am stuck with a printer and scanner which don't work with Mac. Thanks in advance for any help.

    I don't see either of those models on http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669. You should probably check with HP to see if they are still supported.

  • How can i solve "could not load language and text preference "

    how can i solve " could not load language and text preference ".. help everyone...

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
    The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
    Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
    Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
    When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
    If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
    Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.
    Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
    After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error

    I am having the exact same problem as described in the following post:
    "Undocumented problem solved with 16-bit pcmcia and irq error."
    "I'm using a DAQ Card (AI-16E-4), which didn't work properly in MAX. MAX complained that the card didn't respond to an interrupt request.
    I've had this issue for a while, but dropped it, since NI support told me nothing could be done about it. Meanwhile, a seemingly unrelated problem with a wireless pcmcia network card arose. Cisco had no clue what was wrong with their card either, but I found Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q327947. It seems that Win2k (they claim SP3 and up) disables ISA to PCI routing, which is what causes this problem.
    To fix it, open regedit
    and navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pcmcia\Parameters"
    edit or create the DWORD value "DisableIsaToPciRouting" and set the value data to 0.
    See Microsoft's article for further details: http://support.microsoft.com/default. aspx?scid=kb;en-us;327947"
    The difference is that I am using WinXP and the Regedit fix does not solve the problem. Does anybody know how he was able to continue to use the card before he solved the problem? The card works fine in MAX, but errors out in LabVIEW.

    Hey Willy,
    Here some additional suggestions that have corrected some PCMCIA difficulties in the past besides the registry edit you suggested.
    1. General Troubleshooting to Verify Correct Hardware and Software Installation
    Uninstall the PC Card hardware through Device Manager
    Remove the PC Card from the laptop
    Uninstall the NI-DAQ software
    Follow the normal installation instructions (the most important step to remember for Plug-n-Play Operating Systems is to install the software first)
    Try the latest service packs for Win 2000 or Win XP
    Try the PC Card in a different laptop
    Try a different slot in the laptop. On certain laptops PC Cards have been successfully installed in the top PCMCIA slot instead of the bottom.
    2. Additional Troubleshootin
    g for PC Cards that Return IRQ Conflicts
    For E-Series DAQCards:
    Update to NI-DAQ 6.9.3 first and then update NI-PAL to version 1.6.1 (included exe file).
    Download the attached NI-PAL (ni-cdu1610.exe), and run the installer. When receiving the error "The device is not responding to the first IRQ Level" in Measurement and Automation Explorer, try this method of upgrading NI-PAL
    3. Additional Troubleshooting Steps
    Try disabling the 3COM adapter, and any other extraneous (for now) devices like any built in serial and parallel ports. The best way to do this is probably to disable them in the BIOS. If the PCMCIA card works properly then try to reconfigure disabled devices one at a time.
    Make sure the latest BIOS is installed.
    Check for any unusual PCMCIA drivers or other software that might interfere with the PCMCIA driver.
    I hope this helps.

  • HP Scanjet 3300C

    Although I've read all the messages about Printing and Faxing and Scanning, I see no mention of the HP 3300C Scanjet. It is an older model I agree, but nothing I do seems to make it scan on my MAC. The light comes on and HP doesn't seem to have a compatible download for it. Has anyone confimed that it just doesn't work and I have to upgrade my scanner? THX.

    Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   HP 7550 Printer and HP Scanjet 3300C

    I'm having the same problem with my HP PSC 2350. At one point I could scan but once I updated to Tiger I'm getting the message "software not installed" just when I try the scan feature.

  • OSX 10.4.4 and HP Scanjet 7400c

    I am running OSX 10.4.4 on a G5. I have an HP Scanjet 7400c scanner. I have obtained the most recent scanner driver from HP that reference 10.3 and 10.2 but they don't work - the icon just lights up in the dock and vanishes immediately.
    I read on another post during a search that OSX 10.4.4 features software that will make any scanner work. Is this true? Is there any way to get my scanner to work?

    Just in case anyone else is looking for an answer to this problem or similar, here’s what I did to solve it:
    I ran the Uninstaller application, then removed all login items in System Preferences.
    In Preferences, located in the folder named Library, I removed anything to do with HP Scanjet. I then dumped the remaining items inside the HP folder itself that hadn’t been subjected to the uninstall and trashed them.
    Then I ran Disk utility and repaired permissions before restarting. I unplugged the USB cable that connected the scanner to the mac, and disconnected the power cable to the scanner itself.
    Then I reinstalled the scanner driver, restarted and repaired permissions again. I plugged in first the USB cable, then reconnected the power to the scanner and tried the software.
    Same old clunky HP interface – but it works.
    If lamarche reads this, thanks again for the recommendation for the vuescan software. I’d actually already sent off for this hp driver before you made that suggestion, and decided to wait to see if it worked, rather than paying for yet another piece of software. It did work - in the end - but thanks for the tip anyway. I may use in the future.

    When I saw this, I decided to save the diffrent files that were conflicting, copy them in a zip file and run the following command
    sudo pacman -Syuf
    After a reboot, the language turned from French to English. Now that the system is in english there are some french characters that don't display correctly. But when I went on the ArchLinux website, I saw that we had to manually delete the files before updating (that's when I felt stupid a little bit..).
    But now that this is done, there may be other things buggy . First of all, I want to fix the language issue (it may be has to do with the fact that archlinux moved from initscript to systemd?). Then if anyone has any idea about what could have been messed up, let me know (and if you have a fix, I'd love to be whistled about that ).

    I think there's nothing new for me in what Tom posted. I already had the configuration set up in /etc/locale.conf.
    LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8
    LC_TIME=fr_CA.UTF-8
    However I noticed that when i shutdown my pc, some daemons fail to stop/execute themselves:
    - Crond [FAIL]
    - NetworkManger [FAIL]
    - SIGTERM to process [FAIL]
    - SIGKILL to process [FAIL]

    This option should be used with care, ideally not at all.
    You just forced 80 updates at once. Don't do that. The fontconfig update has it's own news post: News: Fontconfig 2.10.1 update - manual intervention required.
    You should have read that.
    Hopefully Tom's post will help you fix your language problem. In the future, don't force anything unless you're explicitly told to via news post.
    I realize I shouldn't have done this, but it's by making errors you learn, isn't it? Now, Tom's post doesn't look useful since it seems it doesn't differ from my own configuration.
    There's actually a person who had a similar problem (I think) as we can see in Tom's post comments since he has this too:
    LANG=
    LC_CTYPE="POSIX"
    LC_NUMERIC="POSIX"
    LC_TIME="POSIX"
    LC_COLLATE="POSIX"
    LC_MONETARY="POSIX"
    LC_MESSAGES="POSIX"
    LC_PAPER="POSIX"
    LC_NAME="POSIX"
    LC_ADDRESS="POSIX"
    LC_TELEPHONE="POSIX"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="POSIX"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="POSIX"
    LC_ALL=
    But his system is configured with systemd when my configuration is with initscripts... So the problem isn't solved yet!

  • [SOLVED] Fonts different in Chromium and Firefox

    I've installed all the microsoft fonts by copying over the TTF files from a windows installation, and as you can see, the fonts work in Firefox but not Chromium.
    How can I configure Chromium to use the MS fonts correctly? In Chromium settings I have Arial set as my default Sans-serif font but it doesn't seem to work correctly. Clearly the font is installed because Firefox is using it and I can select it as my default font in Chromium
    Last edited by Tom B (2014-10-16 12:31:45)

    I finally worked out what the issue is. When I pasted the fonts in /usr/share/fonts and ran fc-cache -vf I pasted as root (because /usr/share/fonts isn't writeable by other users)  but I never set the permissions on the files themselves! running chmod * 755 on in the /microsoft/ directory I created then fc-cache -vf solved the issue!

  • Osx mavericks and hp scanjet 2400

    Since 'upgrading' to Mavericks, my Scanjet software no longer works. I've checked the HP site but typically, they've not updated the drivers.

    I finally got it working!
    1- Go to: http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/
    2- Install: (in the following order)
    libusb
    SANE backend
    SANE pereference pane
    TWAIN SANE interrace (optional)
    3- Open "System Pereferences" > SANE (this is a new configuration app should be found after installing the previuos packages)
    4- Uncheck all backends except for: genesys, apple, hp, gt68xx. The last 3 backends I left them out of guessing. The only backend you need is genesys (file:///tmp/sane.rw6vUe.html for reference)
    5- Open "Terminal"
    6- Type: scanimage -L
    the result should be something close to:
    device `genesys:libusb:002:017-03f0-0a01-ff-ff' is a Hewlett Packard ScanJet 2400c flatbed scanner
    At this point, if your scanner is not found, double check USB connection and power connection to your scanner. Lift the cover lid up, check if the scanner light is on (it should be on)
    7- If your scanner is found, in the "Terminal" type: scanimage >image.pnm
    It will take few minutes, then it will create a the file at your home directory. The default scan settings are: greyscale, 50dpi.
    8- To fine tune the output to a better resolution and colored scan image, type:
    scanimage --format=tiff --mode=Color --resolution=300>scan.tiff
    The file will be saved to your home directory (/Users/yourusername/)
    Extra:
    9- you can set the resolution to: 600 or 1200 if you would like
    10- If you need to scan a portion of the A4 you can set a width and height limit (region) for scanning, add to the command:
    -x 100 -y 70
    this will only scan 10cm width and 7cm height for the top right corner of the scanner. The full command would be:
    scanimage --format=tiff --mode=Color --resolution=600 -x 100 -y 70 >newimage.tiff
    Tips:
    - Default file format is: pnm
    - You might get errors after the first scan, just turn off then on the scanner (i think it's a glitch in the backend)
    - type: scanimage -h
    you will get the whole help file (the man ***** for this app)

  • [nForce] Lets solve this 1394 problem once and for all.

    Hi guys,
    For the past 3months I have been trying to connect my Panasonic GS150 to my comuter in order to use Avid dvxpress pro. I have the problem of when I connect the camera to the computer, nothing happens. I also have this problem with my Ipod, however testing various different devices with the computer produces a strange outcome. Various different cameras work, xp pops up witha found new hardware device (like it should). Its very strange.
    I started to think it was my system. I changed my onboard firewire to a pci card, same solution. So then, i reinstalled windows, same outcome. So i bought a new motherboard nforce2 platinum and to my total amazment, same problem. If was after i had totally failed in finding the solution that i started to look elsewhere on the net for anyone who knows the answer. It seems to be a VIA firewire chipset problem. Every post of people who had similiar problems where looking for the answer but NOONE has solved it, ive come across about 1000 posts with no reply's. Its a problem that thousands have but not many people ever use ther're firewire ports so they dont they've got the problem.
    I really dont know what the problem is anymore, is it windows, is it certain 1394 devices, or is it the Via chipset. I havent a clue, so if anyone wants to attempt to solve this problem once and forall they will be the hero of about 3000 potential customers...
    Anyone?
    Jon.

    Yes thats correct.   Regardless of the hardware, and various 1394 devices are recognised. I've bought a 4pin to 4pin cable which i will test with different devices to see if they are consistent with a 6pin to 4pin cable, it may be a power issue. Not sure what chip on pci card, heres the info from website.
    - Three external 6-pin FireWire ports
    - Interoperable with existing, as well as older, 1394 consumer electronics and peripheral products
    - Complies with OHCI requirements
    - Compliant with IEEE 1394a-2000 standard
    - Isochronous transfer support (guaranteed bandwidth) for DV video data transfer from Camcorder to PC
    - Provides three fully compliant cable ports, each supporting 400Mbits/sec, 200Mbits/sec and 100Mbits/sec traffic
    - Plug and Play & Hot-Swappable for all ports
    - Power overload and protection failure on each port
    - PCI bus master with PCI 2.2 Bus specification

  • [Solved]Dell XPS13 ultrabook Xorg and Wifi issues after Kernel upgrade

    I installed Arch on a Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook today, and most everything ran fine after I ran the initial upgrade -- but I held back on the kernel update from 3.1.3 to 3.3.7.
    I just now updated the kernel, and now I can't start X, nor can I access the wireless card. For X, I get a "Fatal server error: no screens found" error, and I can no longer find wlan0 with iwconfig, although I can still see it with lspci.
    I even tried downgrading the kernel to 3.1.9, but I'm still having identical issues.
    What can I do to fix this, short of starting again from scratch?

    Edit: Solved by copying all the files in the boot folder on my root partition (sda3) to my real boot partition (sda1).

  • [Solved] Localtime is messed up, and pacman doesn't work anymore

    Hi everyone,
    I'm quite new to Arch Linux but I've succeded so far in installing the base system, setting up my wifi card (wasn't easy) and installing xfce4. When I first installed everything seemed to work fine (wifi, dropbox, pacman, etc.) but I noticed that my time doesn't reflect the current local time. I've selected America/Montreal in rc.conf and through "Orage Globaltime" in xfce4 but both return the UTC instead of the localtime. Also, when I try to get the UTC from Orage, it returns my localtime instead (Montreal)...
    So there's definitely something wrong there. I've then had a look at the forums/wiki and found that a network synchronisation should be used to correct the issue (such as ntp) but now pacman can't connect to anything. It returns something like this when I try to install/update/search:
    $ sudo pacman -Syu
    Password:
    :: Synchronizing package databases...
    error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from mirror.us.leaseweb.net : Connection time-out
    ^C (keeps on getting time-outs if I don't interrupt)
    Some info on my system:
    General info: as stated above, internet over wifi (wlan0) works, pacman times-out and the local time is off.

Now I'm quite lost, especially since no one seems to report every pacman repository being down... could anyone please help me solve this problem?
    Thanks!

    WonderWoofy wrote:I think you may find relevant information here.  I ahve seem many of these threads in the forums lately.  Are you dual booting w/ another operating system... in particular, one that uses localtime for the hardware clock (and there is only one that does this).
    Thanks I'll look at that entry. Still I'd like to point out that this page clearly says that the timezone is to be set in rc.conf, which is a bit confusing. I must've followed this guide to get to my current configuration. I am dual booting with multiple other systems (xubuntu, win7, puppy, crunchbang) so from what I've read win7 might be the problem, but I haven't started it since i installed arch and my time has been off from the start.
    Should I simply use NTP now that pacman is working again?
    Thanks

  • [Solved] Slow graphics with RS780M and open source ati driver

    EDIT: Well this is embarrasing. Guess this is why there's a new comers forum. I assumed since I installed a couple days ago my system was up to date. However, running pacman -Syu updated my kernal and it works fine now. SOLVED (I'm an idiot)
    Hello Arch community. I've been using Ubuntu for a couple years so know that my hardware can work well enough with linux. Almost everything works great with arch with little setup, but I'm stumped as to how to setup the graphics card.
    I'm attempting to use the open source drivers, either xf86-video-ati or xf86-video-radeonhd (I don't care which I use in the end). I have both installed so I can try out both, assuming that doesn't cause problems. I've never tried using the catalyst driver in arch, so I know I don't have remenents of that causing problems. Right I have gnome working, but when dragging a window, resizing a window, scrolling, or watching a video I can see the screen slowly refresh. It is definetly not right.
    Here's the information that might help:
