[solved] Sonata client launches multiple windows; systray full

Hi guys,
I have a problem with Sonata which is a client for mpd. I have mapped W-p shortcut for Sonata and I used to press this combination to start the client and also to make it show up when minimized to the system tray.
Now every time I press W-p another instance of the client starts so I have multiple Sonata icons inside the systray. This is very annoying.
I'm using openbox + tint2.
Any suggestion?
Thank you very much
EDIT: Same thing happens with xfce4-panel

Thank you for your time SanskritFritz. I'm glad that the problem is not Openbox releated because I'm quite fond of it.
I have found out what is the problem. I was simply missing dbus-python package. Now everything works quite well.

  • Lion - Multiple windows in Full Screen Mode

    Loving Lion.  Loads of great new features - some features do need a bit of breaking in, but all in all I am really enjoying using it.
    But...
    One niggling gripe I have is with using full-screen mode.  I am fishing for any better ideas or workarounds.
    Generally in Full Screen mode with an app, ie iTunes, I am often creating new windows by double clicking a left-hand panel item, such as playlists or the iTunes Store.  These windows jump to the foreground of the screen, but disappear behind the Full Screen window when the focus is changed.  This sub-window cannot be accessed until Full Screen is de-activated  and windows reastablished or moved to another space via Mission Control.  A bit cumbersome, especially in a slick new interface.
    Any thoughts, anyone?

    Press Apple and ` to move between windows of an application. Keyboard commands are very handy when using full screen.

    Dear Dan,
    It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
    So what I did was tested and worked for years.
    You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
    Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.

  • When I launch address book, multiple windows open

    When I launch address book, multiple windows open, and I can't find a way to close them unless I do it one at a time.  I must have chosen at some point "open all contacts" or something like that, but am at a loss as to how to prevent this in the future. I've tried command +option+w, to no avail.  Ideas?  thanks!

    Untick this box:
    Or use alt/option + Cmd + Q to Quit and DIscard Windows.

  • Safari loads multiple windows when launching

    When launching Safari, multiple windows load (over 20).  I have trashed and reloaded the application from the Apple site and all of my software is up to date.  I'm running Lion 10.7.4 and Safari 5.1.7.  I have tried "close all windows," "clear history," "empty cache," and "reset Safari," all to no avail.

    From the Safari menu bar, select Safari ▹ Preferences… ▹ General ▹ New windows open with: Empty Page.

    Right, like I'm trying to say, THERE IS NO SAFARI MENU bar. Example: I have multiple applications open, I click on a Photoshop window, the correct menu or title bar or whatever changes. Every other application window I click on brings up the correct "whatever" bar. If I click on the desktop, the "Finder Bar" shows up.
    Everythiing else, BUT SAFARI, works the same way since OS X came out.  This is ridiculous.
    I'm getting the vibe that Apple is trying to get rid of the finder.... this is the way wrong direction.

  • [Solved] When I open multiple Firefox windows an orange pull down tab appears and I cannot exit from any single window. I have to exit all of the Firefox windows to close one.

    I like to open several Firefox windows when I am browsing the internet. Since mi reinstall of windows XP with sp3 I installed Firefox 5.0.1. Now when I open multiple windows they kind of window in a window and I get this orange pull down menu. I can no longer close any one single window. I click the lower of the two top right X's to close the window and all the tabs in that window, but nothing happens. I also don't like the look and feel of the orange pull down menu

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    In Firefox 4 and later [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • One View in multiple Windows

    Hi,
    This is rather a note than a question and written purely in the hope of Google finding it if I (or someone else) ever need it again:
    Situation: (V = view; W = window)
    is displaying a table
    has a view container with embedded in it
    opens as a popup
    contains
    also has a view container with embedded in it
    contains
    --> as a picture: [Link to ImageShack|http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/684/constellation.png/]
    in words:
    A view showing a table is used in two other views . One of the using views is called in a popup window by the other using view .
    What happens in this situation is a dump with this error message in the browser:
    View Is Already Displayed in Window of Component {..}
    Details:
    As the error message says, may not be displayed by two windows at the same time. One might think that not displaying by making it invisible (either by using a parent container or other suitable element) should solve the problem...
    Let me tell you before: IT DOES NOT!
    Solution:
    To really "hide" you need to display a different view instead of it in its View Container element.
    The easiest way to do this is to add an EmptyView to the ViewContainer in , together with plugs to call the EmptyView and seperately.
    Now you have to fire the plug for the EmptyView just before opening the popup . After closing the popup you have to fire the plug for . -> Voila, the same view is used in both windows!
    Negatives:
    1. Obviously you really cannot show the view in both windows at the same time, but as a popup with more than a yes/no question usually hides most things below it, this should not be the biggest issue.
    2. When firing the plug for the view is built anew, meaning the whole WDDOINIT, ... running. Apart from having impact on your implementation of these methods, this might also be a pain in respect to performance.
    Hope this helps! If anyone has helpful comments or wants to create a picture for the solution, please post!
    Kind Regards
    Robert Schulz

    Finally got it-
    This is a new security feature added in version 9.3.3.
    Currently, when /workspace and /workspace/index.jsp commands are issued, a new instance of EPM Workspace is launched in a separate browser window. With the single instance feature, subsequent invocations of /workspace/ and /workspace/index.jsp opens items in EPM Workspace tabs, even when launched from an external URL. Single instance also prevents extra EPM Workspace windows from closing existing session(s) where multiple EPM Workspace windows were previously allowed.
    URL Parameter to Override Single Instance Behavior:
    By default, there can only be one instance of EPM Workspace on a client machine. However, there are instances where multiple sessions of EPM Workspace must remain open. For example, Financial Management may need to do a side by side comparison of applications. You can override the default setting to allow multiple window names with the URL parameter, multi_process=true appended to the EPM Workspace URL.
    TL;DR Use /workspace/index.jsp?multi_process=true to utilize multiple sessions of Workspace.

  • Cisco Security Manager Client running on Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 bit) in Terminal Service

    Hello CSM Gurus,
    Would there be any performance issues in CSM client software design if multiple instances of CSM client by multiple users ran concurrently on a Windows Server 2008 R2(64 bits) while CSM users accessing the server via Remote Desktop Services ?
    In my environment, we have a CSM server at our major data center while security administrators from all over the world need to use this CSM server.
    In order to overcome the latency of the CSM client due to the WAN network, the plan is to use a Windows Server 2008 R2(64bits) as a terminal server and all security administrators would need to access this terminal server via RDP and would launch CSM client on their desktop.  The terminal server locates on the same LAN as the CSM server itself in order to minimize network latency in communications between the CSM clients running on the terminal server and the CSM server.  there would be multiple instances of CSM clients running concurrently on the Windows Server 2008 R2, the terminal server.

  • Open/run Multiple Windows of the same VI

    Hi!
    In my current project I would like to have the user open multiple windows of the same VI.  I've made a re-entrant VI:
    This is, currently, a very simple VI that just has a numeric control, a loop, and a stop button.  I then have a VI that calls the re-entrant VI.  I'd like it so that each time the user presses the "Call Re-Entrant VI" button, a new window of this VI is spawned and run.
    The first time the button is pressed, the re-entrant VI opens and runs fine. The title of the VI in the title bar is "Re-Entrant.vi:1 (clone)" (as expected).  When I try to launch another instance I get this error:
    I'm running LabVIEW 2009.
    Thanks for your time.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Here we go.  The Close Reference VI was causing my re-entrant VI to stop execution.  What do you think of this:
    This appears to work.  I'd probably want to get the path of my referenced re-entrant VI outside of my loop (since this will remain constant throughout the programs execution).  My guess is the Auto Dispose Ref feature will mean that as these windows are closed by my user, their garbage will be collected properly....?
    Thanks for your help.
    Edit: how odd that my Error Cluster constant in the VI Snippet wasn't saved to the image properly.

  • Error in installing Oracle client 11g on Windows 2008 R2 (64bit) XenApp 6

    I am trying to install "win64_11gR2_client.zip" Oracle 11g Client 64bit on Windows 2008 R2 that has been clamped and restricted by our security department. Details of the clamp:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885409
    The Windows 2008 R2 server is running on CITRIX XenApp 6.
    When we try to install the client on a normal version of Windows 2008 R2 without the Clamp, the installation follows through and successfully. However, when we try to install the 11g Client on the Clamped Windows 2008 R2, we get the error below:
    [INS-08802] Unable to instantiate the View class referred by View ID 'SummaryUI'
    This indicates the primary issue is with the clamp. My issue now is knowing what exactly is causing the error. what restrictions should I enable from the clamp in order to get the installation working?

  • How do I open multiple 'windows' in Entourage?

    I am using MS Entourage and would like to be able to open multiple windows within that program. For example, I would like to have both my calendar and address book opened at the same time in different windows. I have looked all over for a way to do this, but I have not had any luck. Any ideas? Please forgive me if this is an easy answer. I am still new to the Mac world, but love it so far. Thank you.

    At the Entourage menu bar, go to File > New and select Open New Main Window. You can open an additional two main windows and select the Address Book for one and the Calendar for the other.
    To navigate to a different window, at the menu bar go to Window and select Mail, Address Book or Calendar.
    The Mail.app does not incorporate all 3 applications. You can have the Mail.app, Address Book and iCal launched and running and select between each from the Dock along with other ways to do so. The Mail.app also includes an Address Book panel to view all Address Book contacts or to select from when addressing a message. You can't add to, delete or edit contacts from the Mail.app Address Book panel.

  • Multiple windows of the same class with a different argument

    Suppose I have a main window with a list of users. If I click on any one user, the "chat window" should open with the argument as that "user".
    If i click on another, a similar "chat window" should open but with a different user.
    I can't have so many stages because I don't know how many users are there.
    How do I open multiple windows of the same class but with a different argument?

    Here is a sample (opens, at random locations, a bunch of child windows parameterized by color).
    Could be simpler, but hopefully you get the gist.
    import java.util.Random;
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.geometry.Rectangle2D;
    import javafx.scene.Scene;
    import javafx.scene.control.Label;
    import javafx.scene.layout.StackPane;
    import javafx.stage.*;
    public class ColoredStages extends Application {
      final String[] colors = { "firebrick", "palegreen", "azure", "chocolate", "goldenrod" };
      final Random random = new Random(42);
      Rectangle2D screenBounds;
      public static void main(String[] args) { launch(args); }
      @Override public void start(Stage stage) {
        screenBounds = Screen.getPrimary().getVisualBounds();
        stage.setTitle("Primary");
        stage.setScene(new ColoredScene("cornsilk"));
        stage.show();
        for (String color : colors) {
          Stage coloredStage = new ColoredStage(stage, color);
          coloredStage.show();
      class ColoredStage extends Stage {
        ColoredStage(Stage owner, String color) {
          super();
          initOwner(owner);
          initStyle(StageStyle.UTILITY);
          setX(screenBounds.getMinX() + random.nextInt((int) screenBounds.getWidth()));
          setY(screenBounds.getMinY() + random.nextInt((int) screenBounds.getHeight()));
          setScene(new ColoredScene(color));
      class ColoredScene extends Scene {
        ColoredScene(String color) {
          super(new StackPane());
          StackPane layout = (StackPane) getRoot();
          layout.getChildren().addAll(new Label(color));
          layout.setStyle("-fx-font-size: 20px; -fx-padding: 30px; -fx-background-color: " + color);
    }

  • New files and folders on a Linux client mounting a Windows 2012 Server for NFS share do not inherit Owner and Group when SetGID bit set

    Problem statement
    When I mount a Windows NFS service file share using UUUA and set the Owner and Group, and set the SetGID bit on the parent folder in a hierarchy. New Files and folders inside and underneath the parent folder do not inherit the Owner and Group permissions
    of the parent.
    I am given to understand from this Microsoft KnowledgeBase article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/951716/en-gb) the problem is due to the Windows implmentation of NFS Services not supporting the Solaris SystemV or BSD grpid "Semantics"
    However the article says the same functionality can acheived by using ACE Inheritance in conjunction with changing the Registry setting for "KeepInheritance" to enable Inheritance propagation of the Permissions by the Windows NFS Services.
    1. The Precise location of the "KeepInheritance" DWORD key appears to have "moved" in  Windows Server 2012 from a Services path to a Software path, is this documented somewhere? And after enabling it, (or creating it in the previous
    location) the feature seems non-functional. Is there a method to file a Bug with Microsoft for this Feature?
    2. All of the references on demonstrating how to set an ACE to achieve the same result "currently" either lead to broken links on Microsoft technical websites, or are not explicit they are vague or circumreferential. There are no plain Examples.
    Can an Example be provided?
    3. Is UUUA compatible with the method of setting ACE to acheive this result, or must the Linux client mount be "Mapped" using an Authentication source. And could that be with the new Flat File passwd and group files in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    and is there an Example available.
    Scenario:
    Windows Server 2012 Standard
    File Server (Role)
    +- Server for NFS (Role) << -- installed
    General --
    Folder path: F:\Shares\raid-6-array
    Remote path: fs4:/raid-6-array
    Protocol: NFS
    Authentication --
    No server authentication
    +- No server authentication (AUTH_SYS)
    ++- Enable unmapped user access
    +++- Allow unmapped user access by UID/GID
    Share Permissions --
    Name: linux_nfs_client.host.edu
    Permissions: Read/Write
    Root Access: Allowed
    Encoding: ANSI
    NTFS Permissions --
    Type: Allow
    Principal: BUILTIN\Administrators
    Access: Full Control
    Applies to: This folder only
    Type: Allow
    Principal: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Access: Full Control
    Applies to: This folder only

    I'm making some "major" progress on this problem.
    1. Apparently the "semantics" issue to honor SGID or grpid in NFS on the server side or the client side has been debated for some time. It also existed as of 2009 between Solaris nfs server and Linux nfs clients. The Linux community defaulted to declaring
    it a "Server" side issue to avoid "Race" conditions between simultaneous access users and the local file system daemons. The client would have to "check" for the SGID and reformulate its CREATE request to specify the Secondary group it would have to "notice"
    by which time it could have changed on the server. SUN declined to fix it.. even though there were reports it did not behave the same between nfs3 vs nfs4 daemons.. which might be because nfs4 servers have local ACL or ACE entries to process.. and a new local/nfs
    "inheritance" scheme to worry about honoring.. that could place it in conflict with remote access.. and push the responsibility "outwards" to the nfs client.. introducing a race condition, necessitating "locking" semantics.
    This article covers that discovery and no resolution - http://thr3ads.net/zfs-discuss/2009/10/569334-CR6894234-improved-sgid-directory-compatibility-with-non-Solaris-NFS-clients
    2. A much Older Microsoft Knowledge Based article had explicit examples of using Windows ACEs and Inheritance to "mitigate" the issue.. basically the nfs client "cannot" update an ACE to make it "Inheritable" [-but-] a Windows side Admin or Windows User
    [-can-] update or promote an existing ACE to "Inheritable"
    Here are the pertinent statements -
    "In Windows Services for UNIX 2.3, you can use the KeepInheritance registry value to set inheritable ACEs and to make sure that these ACEs apply to newly created files and folders on NFS shares."
    "Note About the Permissions That Are Set by NFS Clients
    The KeepInheritance option only applies ACEs that have inheritance enabled. Any permissions that are set by an NFS client will
    only apply to that file or folder, so the resulting ACEs created by an NFS client will
    not have inheritance set."
    "So
    If you want a folder's permissions to be inherited to new subfolders and files, you must set its permissions from the Windows NFS server because the permissions that are set by NFS clients only apply to the folder itself."
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321049
    3. I have set up a Windows 2008r2 NFS server and mounted it with a Redhat Enteprise Linux 5 release 10 x86_64 server [Oct 31, 2013] and so far this does appear to be the case.
    4. In order to mount and then switch user to a non-root user to create subdirectories and files, I had to mount the NFS share (after enabling Anonymous AUTH_SYS mapping) this is not a good thing, but it was because I have been using UUUA - Unmapped Unix
    User Access Mapping, which makes no attempt to "map" a Unix UID/GID set by the NFS client to a Windows User account.
    To verify the Inheritance of additional ACEs on new subdirectories and files created by a non-root Unix user, on the Windows NFS server I used the right click properties, security tab context menu, then Advanced to list all the ACEs and looked at the far
    Column reflecting if it applied to [This folder only, or This folder and Subdirectories, or This folder and subdirectories and files]
    5. All new Subdirectories and files createdby the non-root user had a [Non-Inheritance] ACE created for them.
    6. I turned a [Non-Inheritance] ACE into an [Inheritance] ACE by selecting it then clicking [Edit] and using the Drop down to select [This folder, subdirs and files] then I went back to the NFS client and created more subdirs and files. Then back to the
    Windows NFS server and checked the new subdirs and folders and they did Inherit the Windows NFS server ACE! - However the UID/GID of the subdirs and folders remained unchanged, they did not reflect the new "Effective" ownership or group membership.
    7. I "believe" because I was using UUUA and working "behind" the UID/GID presentation layer for the NFS client, it did not update that presentation layer. It might do that "if" I were using a Mapping mechanism and mapped UID/GID to Windows User SIDs and
    Group SIDs. Windows 2008r2 no longer has a "simple" Mapping server, it does not accept flat text files and requires a Schema extension to Active Directory just to MAP a windows account to a UID/GID.. a lot of overhead. Windows Server 2012 accepts flat text
    files like /etc/passwd and /etc/group to perform this function and is next on my list of things to see if that will update the UID/GID based on the Windows ACE entries. Since the Local ACE take precedence "over" Inherited ACEs there could be a problem. The
    Inheritance appears to be intended [only] to retain Administrative rights over user created subdirs and files by adding an additional ACE at the time of creation.
    8. I did verify from the NFS client side in Linux that "Even though" the UID/GID seem to reflect the local non-root user should not have the ability to traverse or create new files, the "phantom" NFS Server ACEs are in place and do permit the function..
    reconciling the "view" with "reality" appears problematic, unless the User Mapping will update "effective" rights and ownership in the "view"

  • Multiple windows icon in safari is suddenly gone, what happened?

    I have an IPad 2 and I just noticed that when I launch safari I use to have a multiple windows icon on upper left side (two little boxes), which allowed me to open multiple windows. Not it's gone, only book mark Icon and last page icon there. Any ideas?

    Safari on iOS 5 on the iPad uses tabbed browsing - use the '+' on the right-hand end of the tab bar to open a new tab. Thumbnail/paged browsing no longer exists
