SOLVED Spanish keyboard stopped loading after update, upgrade

I am trying archlinux. The newest stable version with updates, and kde 4.3.2.  Brilliant it is.  However, after a few weeks of perfect use today I booted up and found, I think, US keyboard instead of Spanish one.  Apart from a standard update and upgrade, I do not think I have changed anything.
I tried system settings and chose regional and language/keyboard layout.  It gives me an error message only.  Cannot cut and paste but it sayd something like> Cannot load /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard_layout.so (libxklavier.so.12. Cannot open shared object file. No such file or directory) Cannot load library.
I check for first file and it shows it is there>
[root@antec etc]# find / -name kcm_keyboard*
/usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard.so
/usr/lib/kde4/kcm_keyboard_layout.so
/usr/share/kde4/services/kcm_keyboard.desktop
So is second file but see it is number 15 not number 12 as said in error message above>
[root@antec etc]# find / -name libxklav*
/usr/lib/pkgconfig/libxklavier.pc
/usr/lib/libxklavier.so.15
/usr/lib/libxklavier.so
/usr/lib/libxklavier.so.15.0.0
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libxklavier
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libxklavier/libxklavier.devhelp
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libxklavier/libxklavier.devhelp2
/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libxklavier/libxklavier-xklavier.html
/usr/include/libxklavier
/var/lib/pacman/local/libxklavier-4.0-1
/var/lib/pacman/sync/extra/libxklavier-4.0-1
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/libxklavier-3.9-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
/var/cache/pacman/pkg/libxklavier-4.0-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz
[root@antec etc]#
I check in rc.conf and the es keyboard is selected.  I search in the archlinux wiki and in google and also here but do not find help.
EDIT>  now also found that Printer Config in Settings also shows similar error messages about orphan modules, old third party models etc.
Can you help please....

As you suspected, libxklavier.so.15 is there, but not so.12 which is presumably what kde is looking for_
The question is,  how do I correct this
Richard
BTW thanks for the tip about locate.  I used to use this ages ago but got out of the habit.  Not sure why.  Maybe the distro I had back then did not have it by default and I needed it quickly one day.  It could not be that I was too lazy to install it I am sure

• [SOLVED] Keyboard stopped working after update

Greetings,
after my most recent update (I now update infrequently, so I had quite a bunch of packets to update) I experienced my keyboard refraining from working in any way under my desktop environment (KDEmod legacy) - switching to console, the keyboard works again.
I did a few downgrades (info from /var/log/pacman.log) and it now works again.
[2009-02-18 13:47] upgraded xkeyboard-config (1.5-1 -> 1.4-2)
[2009-02-18 13:47] upgraded xf86-input-keyboard (1.3.2-1 -> 1.3.1-1)
[2009-02-18 13:48] upgraded xcb-util (0.3.3-1 -> 0.3.2-1)
Are there any known problems occuring concerning these packets? They seem to change the way, XOrg is accessing the keyboard, which is obviously not working.
Thanks for any advice on this matter!
Regards,
cg
// EDIT
Solution: xorg-server was amongst the IgnorePkg list as in pacman.conf - updating xorg-server together with xf86-input-keyboard, input devices work like charms again.

Thank you for your contribution. I tried my best to configure my input devices conform to the new XOrg hotplugging, but I have to say that the problem persisted.
Step 0:
Updating all packages (again). Conclusion: Not working.
Step 1:
Copying the keyboard configurations from /usr/share to /etc for persistent use by HAL. Conclusion: Not working.
Step 2:
Commenting out the lines referring to the static declaration of input devices within /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Conclusion: Not working.
Step 3:
Adding the command to disable the hotplugging (Option "AutoAddDevices" "False") on bottom of my xorg.conf. Conclusion: Not working.
Step 4:
Downgrading: xf86-input-keyboard (1.3.2-1 -> 1.3.1-1) Conclusion: Working again.
Guessing by the fact that more than one person posted in this thread, this problem seems not to be limited to my specific configuration (which is rather basic, a basic keyboard and a basic mouse, both using USB). For now, the 'solution' is adding xf86-input-keyboard to the IgnorePkg list of pacman.conf - or is there any known workaround?
I would be glad to be informed about wrongs in the steps I have taken.
Thanks for your information in advance,
regards,
cg
// EDIT
Problem resolved. The solution was stunningly obvious - after having run into problems with the upgrade lately, xorg-server was on the IgnorePkg list as well and defaulted to 1.4.2.2, which would not work well together with the input hotplugging. After having solved the problem with XOrg and updating all the packages again, I can happily use my keyboard again. Sorry for all the hassle!

• TS3048 Number pad on extended keyboard stopped working after updating to OSX 10.9.1. Testing keyboard on old system still works perfectly.

Expanded keyboard stopped working correctly after updating my system from OSX 10.8.6 to OSX 10.9.1 and now 10.9.2. The keypad numbers do not work although the numbers along the top of the keyboard work fine. Moving the keyboard back to computer still using 10.8.6 and it works fine.

• Backlight keyboard stopped working after updating to snow leopard

Hi I have a late 2008 macbook pro. When I got the laptop it had 10.5.8 on it and the keyboard backlight was working fine. I dimmed it all the way down to save battery life. Later on I installed 10.6.2 then did an update to 10.6.5. I don't know where it stopped working allong the way but the keyboard backlight no longer works.
I can turn it up using the f keys. It will increase and decrease. There is not a circle with a line through it like I have read that other users have had when their backlight is not working properly.
I can increase it and decrease it. The light never comes on. I have installed that program that lets you control the backlight by putting it in the taskbar, that doesnt fix it. I called apple and reset the SMC by taking the battery out and holding the power button down for 5 seconds then putting the battery back in and turning it back on. That did not fix it. I also asked if there was some preference files that we could throw away to maybe reset it. We tossed about 5 files and that didnt fix it - sorry I cant remember the files. I did a fresh install of snow leopard but i didnt go past the "would you like to bring back your files" part of the install.
Can someone help me? The caps lock button lights up. I dont know if that matters. Please help me fix the backlight on my keyboard. I really dont want to install 10.5.8 again just to see if the light comes back on or not. Is there a bug in snow leopard that messes up my macbook? help!

maybe its fried ? could be just bad luck when you were doing the update ?
Ridiculous!
To the OP:
I'd recommend doing a SMC reset, if that doesn't take care of it do a PRAM reset. The instructions are:
_SMC RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
• Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
• Release the power button.
• Attach the computers power cable.
• Press the power button to turn on the computer.
_PRAM RESET_
• Shut down the computer.
• Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
• Turn on the computer.
• Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
• Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
• Release the keys.

• My safari has been stop loading after updating my mac  to 10.6.8!what should I do?!

my safari stoped working!so help me!:(

Presumably you updated Safari as well?
If your Safari won't open, one or more of the following procedures should fix it:
1.  Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
history.plist
lastsession.plist
(Safari may not load properly If these two files are corrupted.)
and also go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete the file com.apple.Safari.plist
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just  webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
3. Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
(Again, faults in stored cookies may interfere with Safari's launch.)
4. Check whether any of your third-party internet plug-ins may be interfering with the launch of Safari by carefully moving them to the desktop (do NOT delete them at this stage). You can find these in two places:
Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder, and Global plug-ins are located in the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder.
Also look in Library/Input Managers where other third party add-ons may lurk. If you find  a SIMBL folder, please note that some SIMBLE.bundles may require updating or possibly removal. More information on third party add-ons here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3230?viewlocale=en_US
Restart Safari and place them back in the correct folders, one at a time, closing and re-opening Safari each time. If you discover that one of them was causing the problem with launching Safari, trash it and download and install a fresh copy.
Note also that Safari does not accept any third party tool bars not supplied as part of authorised extension. If you have installed any of these, delete them, or post back for instructions on how to do so.

Wifi iPad 3 charger stopped working after updating to iOS 6.  The little iPhone charger charges it very very slowly, but the charger gets really hot after a while.  I restored it and everything works but the charger.  It's only a few months old, should I try a new iPad wall charger block?

Hi,

• My apps won't load after updating to iOS4.3.2. What to do?

My apps won't load after updating to iOS4.3.2. What to do?

Yes, I tried that (thanks for the suggestion, though!). In my music app, when I click on certain songs, the screen moves to try to start the song, but then it bounces back to the menu screen without playing the song. On many albums, when I click on the first song, a song about halfway through the album will start to play rather than that first song. My other apps seems to be fixed, but not the music function.

It worked fine the night before.  Then it stopped working after updating to 5.0.1.  I can only hear calls on speaker.  Did anyone else have this problem.  I have tried all the fixes, restart, reboot, restore.  No debris in the headphone jack, and when volume is turned up or down it doesn't show headphones on the screen.  Nothing covering the earpiece.  Tried to blow out headphone jack with compressed air.  I'm thinking it is a glitch in the software.  Using Iphone 4 on Verizon.  Any thoughts or ideas?

My camera connection kit stopped working after I upgraded to ios5. If I plug it in to my iphone I get a message saying it is not recognised, but when I plug it into the ipad it does nothing at all. I've tried resetting it, but that makes no difference.
I have an ipad 1 which I bought because it had lots of storage. I'm going on holiday soon, and I want to be able to upload my holiday photos to my ipad while I'm away.
Any suggestions?

Actually this sounds the same problem I have on my iPad2.
I use a cheap copy of the CCK which I got off eBay.
It worked great when fitted with a 16gb SD card, but since I upgraded to 5.01 it has stopped working.
Sorry, no solution at this point but it worked on 4.3.3 but not on 5.01.
I'll keep on looking, was considering a proper CCK thinking the cheapmversion may be drawing too much current, but it sounds like that might not work either.

• HT201371 Touch ID stopped working after updating to IOS 7.1.

Good morning to all,
My touch ID stopped working after updating to IOS 7.1.
It was working perfectly until the update and then it stopped recognizing my prints
I've reset the phone and deleted my fingerprints and now I can't even add a fingerprint again.
I am sure this is not a hardware problem since the phone was working perfectly before the update and it didn't fall nor anything similar.
Also the sensor is clean as well as my fingers.

Same problem... I think we all should let Apple know of this issue. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ tell them the probelm. So when they get too many complains they will surely fix it ASAP with a software update.

Thanks for the swift response.
I'm familiar with the socket location issues with MySQL on Mac OS X. My local copies of WordPress and PHPMyAdmin both work with their configurations pointing to the socket at /tmp/mysql.sock. These installations were working, along with SugarCRM, before the Leopard upgrade. Only SugarCRM has stopped working after the upgrade.

• Q10 keyboard stopped working after 10.3.1 update

Hi everyone. I did the 10.3.1 update on my Porsche 9982 today and all is great. I did the update on my wife's Q10 and the keyboard stopped working. I have pulled the battery a couple times but still not working. I dont even know if I can restore to factury as I am not able to type 'blackberry' in the screen to do the reload. Any suggestions? This was a Q10 that was used for beta testing but is the newer model. Help

I suggest you try the very clean and very forceful AutoLoader method:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using...
Beware that it is completely destructive...the device will be "like new"...no data, no apps, no accounts, etc. Be sure you take a full backup first, as well as make full manual documentation of all apps, accounts, configurations, etc. Sometimes a restore reintroduces the very corruption one is trying to eliminate, and manual reconfiguration is necessary.
You can also use this to fall back to a prior OS if you desire...you can install any OS level for which you can find an AutoLoader. (Hint...search over on the CB site!)
Good luck and let us know!

• Keyboard stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10

I just upgraded my HP Pavilion X2 to Windows 10 and the keyboard stopped working.  Is there an update from HP that can correct this issue?

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums.  The only option you have at the moment is to run the windows update troubleshooter and run any update recommended or optional.  If that does not fix it then you will need to roll back to the original supported operating system the x2 was built to run on. Here is the link for the troubleshooter. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter Please let me know how things go.  Thanks again for the post and have a great day.
