[Solved] startup programs problem.

Hi!
I cannot add things to my session, startup programs. could this be because I am not root? My user is added to all the others like audio, video and network. Cant remember if my user is added to more. How can I access the session (startup programs) in system-preferences-session, as a root? I cant add fusion-icon to my start list, and I can only start fusion-icon by root terminal. Anyone know how to add fusion-icon as a startup program?
Thnx^^

If you mean what Desktop Environment, then I'm using gnome lastes release. With can't add I mean that everything I put in, dissapears after I've gone out of the session program. Abselutely nothing happens when I try to run fusion-icon in Alt+F2. Not even an error comes up, just nothing. Just as if I never typed anything.
When I run fusion-icon in terminal thats not root, I get this:
[andy@andylaptop ~]$ fusion-icon

  • [solved]qwt programming problem( newbie questions about compiling)

    Hi all:
I'm trying compile a qt program that use the technical widget qwt
the program is an example from qwt project
my .pro file is like this
    TEMPLATE = app
    TARGET =
    DEPENDPATH += .
    INCLUDEPATH += /usr/include/qwt
    CONFIG += qt
    LIBS += -L/usr/lib
    # Input
    SOURCES += simple.cpp
but make also gives these errors:

Hi everybody, I am in Turkey on a long assignment, I need help solving a big problem on my macbook pro os 10.9.3. The other week my wife visited some website and now we have a redirect virus of some sort, and every other time when we click on a link or anywhere on the page we are redirected to this casino web site, https://casino.7bets10.com/tr/?from=hy9yKXD43jSC-8Oxbw4femNd7ZgqdRLk-dHJpeG9uaXR l. Its the same whether on Chrome or Safari. Does anyone have a solution, thank you!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
Paste into the window of another application.
Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Xmonad: startup programs and keybindings

    hi!
i'm using xmonad since 2 weeks and so far i'm really satisfied with it. but i have 2 problems which i can not solve, so any help would be appreciated:
    1. is there a way to turn off/on all keybindings on the fly?
    2. i have several startup programs which are correctly moved to the specified workspace upon start. however, the order of the programs on each workspace is kind of random. for example, i would like to have a shell on the left side, and another program on the right side. how can i achieve this?
    thanks in advance!

Go here for your support page and enter your full model number then select the drivers tab, then down on left side select your opersting system for your drivers. http://support.toshiba.com/home

  • How can I add a program to the Startup program

When I copy a program that I want to add, I don't get a Paste menu item when right-clicking Startup menu item found when clicking Start and All Programs, so I can't add it to the Startup program

I figured out a way to do this:
1- Copy the shortcut to the program (or the program's .exe (execute file)) you want to add to Startup
2- Right-click Startup (after selecting it in All Programs) and select Explore
3-In the file structure that opens, right-click Startup
    4-Click Save.
P.S. '''alan_r''' Thanks for trying but your suggestion didn't solve it.

  • Need to solve serious security problem with Oracle Reports URL

As mentioned repeatedly on this forum, Oracle Reports allows serious security breaches that allow users to see reports that they did not generate -- it's easy to guess a legal URL by changing the getjobid parameter.
I've reviewed the JavaDocs to part of the rwrun.jar file and reviewed some of the example report plugins. This shows promise in helping to solve this security problem but critical pieces are missing.
    1) The javadocs are accurate for only 10g (9.0.4) but not correct for 10g (10.1.2+), which we are currently using. I need access to the updated version of this javadoc.
    2) Even with the updated version of the JavaDoc, I haven't found a class from which to inherit that would give me the opportunity to generate random jobid values, which then would effectively prevent users from guessing other jobid values, and thereby gaining access to other's reports (which in our cases, may contain sensitive information.
    3) We have found that we can send the parameter=value of EXPIRATION=1 which helps protect such information, but this requires that every program which invokes a report be modified to add this parameter. It would be far better for the report server to be configured to use a java class we write that inherits from some rwrun.jar class that would by default, add the EXPIRATION=1 parameter.

    Hi,
Thanks for our replies. I will ask to an administrator about this security problem, now I know it depends of a security parameter.
But I would know if it could be possible to hide the technical name of the query in the url. It could improve the security level of our reports in a first time in this way.
    Thanks a lot,
    JW.

  • Is there a way to manage startup programs to help find conflicts?

I recently installed a program called Print It! and have found that it locks up when I try to open its help window. This problem doesn't occur if I do a safe boot, so I'm assuming there is some conflict with programs that are automatically loaded at startup. I'm trying to isolate the problem so I'm trying to find a way to easily enable/disable the startup programs. Is there some software program that will help me do this? I don't really want to remove and reinstall startup programs using the controls in System Preferences. Thanks.

So just what did you have in mind?
I'm trying to find a way to easily enable/disable the startup programs.
I don't really want to remove and reinstall startup programs using the controls in System Preferences.
    That includes enable/disable login items?
Some programs aren't in login items but do get added to launchd, some programs like TechTool Pro have their own method and run in the background.
There is no central place to look at a list of all the startup items; or all the launch services and background tasks (shame, too).
Use to be there was a Startupitems in System/Library but no more, or not used as much. Things can be in folder locations, or from where they are installed. What you want is like the old "Extension Manager" which doesn't exist.

  • Many startup programs in Gnome 2.24 Session preferences

I see quite a few new startup programs in the new Gnome Session preferences.
    1. AT SPI Registry Wrapper ( what does this do?)
    2. Gnome Keyring Daemon wrapper.
    3. Gnome Settings Daemon
    4. Gnome Settings Daemon helper
Which of these can be safely removed or disabled?
I disabled Gnome Login sound and Remote Desktop.
    Thanks.

    1. AT SPI Registry Wrapper - is related with accessibility. I've disabled it to no ill effect.
    2. GNOME Keyring Daemon Wrapper - sounds important, so I left it enabled. after all, network-manager accesses the keyring (as well as some other programs).
    3. GNOME Settings Daemon - I left this alone because it sounds important. I think, if you disable, you may have problems with wallpapers and other visual styles.
    4. GNOME Settings Daemon Helper - Same as above.

  • Cretical programming problem

dear sirs, i work with forms 6i
i have programming problem and i want to solve it
    the problem is
i have table contain the following fields
    AREA_CODE NOT NULL NUMBER(8)
    AREA_NAME NOT NULL VARCHAR2(30)
    EAREA_NAME VARCHAR2(30)
    UP_AREA_CODE NUMBER(8)
    AREA_TYPE NUMBER(1)
    AREA_LEVEL NUMBER(15)
    transfer_fees number(15,3)
i want to get the value of transfer_fees, depend on the area code which i want, but if transfer_fees is null i should get the other transfer_fees of the up_area_code as the up level of area code, and if also null then get the value of transfer_fees of the up level of area code and so on.
    please help me urgently
    Yasser

    Hi yasser
it's not precise for me , It needs a lot of details but according to the existing information
    Now we have 3 options
    Option1 : Get the transfer_fees according to AREA_CODE -- i don't know how not clear for me
Option 2 : IF transfer_fees IS NULL then get it's value from up_area_code (then i am assuming that up_area_code has a value currently during the user input so all we have is to think that we can get it's value from a simple assign statement in WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM trigger of transfer_fees item as ...
    IF :transfer_fees IS NULL THEN
    :transfer_fees  :=:up_area_code;
    END IF;and so on...
    Hope this helps...

  • How to solve the setColor() problem with multithreading?

My fractal program uses a custom number of threads to draw the complete image. If I use just 1 thread, the image looks clean, if I use more threads some pixels of the image gets other colors. The problem ist the painting code:
    g2d.setColor(col);
g2d.drawLine(x, y, x, y);as it is necessary to first set the color of the graphics object and then draw the line. I can solve this pixel color problem by synchronizing the Graphics2D object:
    synchronized (g2d) {
      g2d.setColor(col);
      g2d.drawLine(x, y, x, y);
}but this slows the code down to times where just 1 thread is calculating the image. Unfortunately, I can't find a draw() method that has a color parameter.
I tried to divide the panel into multiple BufferedImages (1 for each thread) which solves the pixel problem but only the first BufferedImage get's drawn.

I solved my problem now. My solution is to use a separate BufferedImage for each Thread. I still had a bug where i didn't transformed the x/y coordinates of the complete image to the shifted x/y coordinates of the single BufferedImages, so that the threads draw the image out of the visible area which looked like all threads after the first only had a black image. After adjusting teh coordinates, the fractal now gets drawn correctly. And boy it's much faster with multiple threads - even on single core systems. On a dual core system, using 10-20 threads about doubles the performance as both cores have work almost all the time until the fractal is finished. :-)

  • I5/OS PASE startup program

    Hi All,

Unable to run i5/OS PASE startup program /usr/lib/start64.
Unable to create Java Virtual Machine.

Any problem for the ccsid for pase.

    Kohar

    Hello,
we had this at one point. It indicates that you have 'inconsistencies' in the kernel. You should probably at least get the DW patch for the same level. If there is a complete kernel out right now, I would go with that.
Please check the Forumalso, there have been several threads regarding the kernel in the last couple of weeks.

  • [solved] java programs freeze desktop

    Hey,
Since yesterday my entire desktop freezes when I try to open java programs (e.g. tvbrowser). I can't really give any more information, because once the desktop does not respond I can't take any screenshots or read the console output. It becomes unreadable (photo), and the Computer does neither react on mouse nor keyboard.
This is a photo I took after starting tvbrowser.
Any idea what could be wrong?
PS: I use jre 6u13-1. But the problem occured very recently, it already worked with this java release. I don't have any idea whats the problem.
Its makes no difference if I enable visual effects (KDEmod 4.2), disable them, or use compiz.
    Greetings, yodo
Edit: Since upgrading to the new xorg-server, I have another problem (>20% CPU usage by kwin with enables effects), so I would like to try downgrading. Maybe that also solves this java problem. I know there are some servers that are not up to date... but is there any "cleaner" way to install old program versions? Independent from obsolete servers. The answer sure is abs, but I'm not good enough in editing PKGBUILDs to create a complete new one. And just changing the version in the latest xorg-server PKGBUILD does of course not work (depends...). Is there an archive of old PKGBUILDs or could someone post it for the release before 1.6.1-1?

Since yesterday? Check your pacman log. Also, what did you do yesterday? Did you login/logout when you haven't for a few days, or reboot? Something at all different? There must be a trigger.
Try to replicate the problem with openjdk6, basic startx TWM environment, etc.
Have you tried Java apps on your PC (Vuze, for example)? Or just web? If the latter, try another browser or two.
Lastly, you can use the website to download the PKGBUILD and other files from a while ago and use makepkg to make the old package. This is just as "clean" or "unclean" as downloading an old package from a mirror and pacman -U'ing it, though.
