[SOLVED] Terminal fonts not working properly?

I just recently finished a fresh install on my new Thinkpad x220, but noticed a peculiar trait about the install. I can not change the size of my fonts, and the only font that I can choose from is clear. This is because every other font previews as HUGE letters, regardless of how small the fonts are set.
I also found that Skype is unusable because it too has HUGE fonts that hog up the entire screen.
I am getting better with Arch with every day of use, but fonts are something I never expected to dive into. I have googled and searched the forums for a similar problem, but no one seems to have this issue...?

Running system settings, I find that the font previews are also HUGE, although it clearly shows that the fonts are a respectable size 9. Also, with the font clean, I see no difference between size 9 or 10. That may be useful to know...
I also installed Verdana as you recommended, and found this interesting trait:

I set Verdana to size 6, YET the preview still has it at a substantially larger than 6 font size. Changing to other font sizes does change Verdana, but like the others, they all remain quite larger than their stated sizes.

Running qtconfig results in the same story. LARGE fonts, but with small size 9.

** Update:
So I went ahead and registered with Skype to try and log in (yea first time woo) and once past the login page (HUGE FONTS), the rest of the fonts are normal and useable. So Skype works fine as far as I can tell, once I get past the login page.
I am starting to wonder if it is possible that I imported the wrong size fonts for a specific class of fonts? Just a hunch. Ill continue reading and digesting the font pages in hopes of figuring it out.

Recently installed fonts not working properly

I just installed two new fonts. They each have several variations (i.e. condensed, semi-condensed, medium, italic, etc.). However, in the Fonts panel in my applications only a few of the variations show up - perhaps 30% of the total that should be there.

Try reinstalling the fonts again. If it still does not work, it could be that some of the fonts are corrupted.

before reinstalling my os x mavericks it use to work perfectly fine ... but now though all the fonts are showing up in fontbook but cant recognize in any other application (even apple's text edit) like photoshop and not even in any web browser .. i shows only rectangle boxes its annoying please help ...

[SOLVED] Homemade fonts not working

For some reason the 2 pixel fonts I made tonight using BitFonter on a Windows machine will not render on Arch Linux. They work on Windows but on Arch they show up as blanks.

While I fully understand your frustration, imatrixgravity, you may want to consider just a bit more restraint with your postings... When you screw up your system then complain making it sound as though you think it's someone else's problem, well, that just doesn't come off too well.
The missing the font names in Explorer seem to imply you've removed the font that's been chosen to run the user interface. What's that, by default on Vista... Segoe UI?
Have you rebooted since you fooled with the fonts?
What do you see if you choose to view the fonts in your folder using Details view?
Do you do regular Windows backups, and if so, when you right-click on the Fonts folder itself, then choose properties, what do you see in your Previous Versions menu?
You can always start a CMD window, CD \Windows\Fonts, then do a DIR to see what's there... This is from my Vista x64 system.

If you HAVE deleted a font you actually needed, and assuming you have backups available, restoring the Fonts folder's former contents (via the Previous Versions dialog) might get you back up and running quickly.

[SOLVED] NetworkManager does not work properly

I have invoked systemd-networkd. But when I start NetworkManager, the ip address is lost and the connections (both wired and wireless) displayed on NetworkManager try to connect for a while then automatically closed. It seems there are some conflicts. I want to use NetworkManager because within Gnome Desktop environment, it is convenient to manager network connections. Have anyone ever encountered this problem?

Interesting. Usually multiple network services will prevent each other from working, but it sounds like systemd-networkd serves other purposes. Good to know!

Hello. I sent my WRT1900AC V1 to Linksys four days ago (Monday) via UPS with a RMA. Linksys paid the shipping and everything. The router is still in route, and it should arrive to their offices tomorrow. Once they receive the WRT1900 AC V1, they are going to send me an EA8500 as a replacement. But I have been reading the comments about the EA8500 here in the forum and it seems to have the same problems. I guess the firmware is extremely flawed in both routers (maybe it is almost the same code?). Anyway, I will try the EA8500 and I hope it works. I bought a temporary router from Walmart and I paid $35 for it. It is a Belink N600 DB. I can't believe that a $35 router is working a lot, lot, lot better than my previous $250 WRT1900AC router. Unbelievable. If the EA8500 doesn't work, I'm going to try and get my money back from Linksys, or contact The Consumerist or someone to get my money back and get a Nighthawk instead.

I wish it was that. When I turn on 3G, the signal is full. Then, when I connect internet using 3G, its signal turn to 2G, Searching, No service, searching, and finally go back to 3G agian. This happen every minute although I tried to move to a hight 3G signal.

Subvi does not work properly when called inside a vi

thanks for your help. i am using a sub vi for sine signal generation. as a vi it works fine. but when i called this subvi inside another VI it gives some problems. for example timer indicator works properly.it reinitializes as well in the sub vi, but in the main VI it does not work properly. means does not count the time.in the sub vi on the fly i can change the values of frequency and amplitude in real time, but when i use as sub vi, it does not reponse as i change the values in the control arrays.similarly pause and continue works properly in the sub vi, but once again in the main VI, it does not work properly.graph indicator also work properly in the sub vi. but here once again it does not work properly in the main VI.the pause resume indicator also does not blink, when it is continue. in the subvi it blinks very well.generally why the sub vi does not work properly inside the VI?i am sending my VI and sub vis.
any tips would be highly appreciated.

I just want to add some more details to Dan's answer. The subVI is acting exactly like you've coded it. The mistake is in understanding how subVIs work. When you call a subVI (or a function in any other language), you pass some parameters to it, the subVI does it's thing and returns values. the subVI does not accept new parameters from the calling VI until it returns to the caller and the caller runs the subVI again. In your case, you have a subVI with a while loop. You have some front panel control wired to the subVI's stop terminal. When first called, the value is false. So the subVI will keep running until the subVI's stop button becomes true but you cannot change it from main until the subVI finishes and returns so the subVI will never stop. As Dan says, the solution is pass references of front panel controls to the subVI and have the subVI monitor those references for changes and to update references to indicators on Main. You subVI does not need any front panel controls or indicators of it's own.

we have two application servers in cluster topology as u can see above we have used one instance from one application server and one from another.
i have seen that for every instance there one jms server. at runtime it is taking one application servers services
say opmn port 6005 but when the application is connecting to the another application server say opmn 6006
here jms is not working properly when i send message
As we have clustered environment message must be propagated all the applications who use above jndi.properties.
if i keep use only one application server opmn say
java.naming.provider.url=opmn:ormi://172.16.1.38:6005:group/Security
then its is working excellently
please can u provide any solution ASAP

Hi iam new to applets i have given one task,that is to display multiple tiff pages in applet, So i have written one applet which displays multiple pages tiff file, i have kept next and previous buttons in the applet to navigate to different pages and here iam using resize() of applet for refreshing applet up to now all fine this all thing i have done in java5.0, but i got a requirement to do in java6.0, in java6.0 applet is not refeshing in the webpage.
i found the reason that resize() is not working properly.
