Successfully solved : Turn windows features on or off blank fix
If you are going to enable or disable or installing any feature in windows 7, you have to do the setup through “Turn Windows features on or off” in
Programs and Features.
When you click on it, Windows Features dialog will appear asking you to “Please wait” and it will start searching for a list of windows features such
as games, indexing service, internet information services (IIS) and etc that you can turn on or off. Windows Features is actually pretty much the same as Add/Remove Windows Component in Windows XP. You can also run Windows Features by typing optionalfeatures.exe
at run or command prompt.
ISSUE:
In Windows 7 while going to enable “ Turn Windows features on or off “ in programs and features left side option the dialog it will be came out empty
or blank.
Normally you can able to see “please wait” initially after it tries to list out all the features, but if the machine having issue then it totally shows blank.
For this issue Microsoft has created a knowledge base 931712 to acknowledge the problem and also provided 2 solutions to resolve this issue. but this solution is didn't work & it will not rectify this issue.
SOLUTION:
Download System Update Readiness Tool from Microsoft and install the machine. Please select OS compatible package(OS & supporting bit
version) and download the file.

This is what I faced and fixed this issue after long way through Google help.

Turn Windows Features on or off Application Development Features

I am having an issue where the windows features under Internet Information Services/World Wide Web Services/Application Development Features will not install. Specifically those which are clicked on when one clicks on ASP.NET. All necessary versions
of ASP.NET are installed. IIS 7 is installed.
In the Event Log there are two errors which are shown in conjunction with this problem.
1. Unable to install counter strings because the SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ASP.NET_64\Performance key could not be opened or accessed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the Win32 error code.
The error code is: 020000000E0E0000
2. Installing the performance counter strings for service ASP.NET_64 (ASP.NET_64) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code.
The error code is: 02000000C9120000
I am thinking that the performace key is somehow not accessable due to some security feature.

I too was receiveing these errors in my event log regarding iis and ASP.NET:

Windows feature page blank

Hi everyone. I got a envy h8-1513c running on windows 8 64-bit. I went on my windows feature page and I mistakenly unchecked all the features. At this time, no applications or programs were working. I paniqued and I went back to the windows features page and I checked all the features...Unfortunately, it did not solve the issue: I was still not able to run the windows updates and to open files, apps or programs. I ran the BIOS update and when the system restarted to configure the update, the automatic repair started itself. The nb restarted and everything is working fine. Now I'm able to run windows update, open files, apps and programs. However, when I go to the windows features page, it's just blank. . .what can I do to fill it out again. . . does it really matter if it's blank, I mean the nb is working fine so maybe it's not that bad...please help me for this. I have a lot of questions in my mind :-(

As Jerry said, if you close all documents before quitting Numbers or Pages, you won't have them reopening when you launch the app again. If you don't want to have to close everything first try Lion Tweaks or the latest version of TinkerTool. Both have the option to turn off the resume feature for individual applications.

Turn Telstra Online Security features on or off

Step 1
On the Telstra Online Security dashboard select the Computer Protection icon

Click on the Computer Protection icon. This will expand the product dashboard to offer more options.

Next to the computer protection heading will be the Settings button. Click on this to open the Settings dialog box. By default, the Antimalware Settings page will pop up. Here you can select your profile for antimalware protection. Setting this to Off will disable Telstra Online Security's antimalware protection. I am connected to the Internet via cable and the modem provides Wi-Fi connection. I have given access to the Wi-F to my grandkids lap top & smart phone. They are using all my data. How do I block them? I don't wish to take them off just block them when the usage is high i.e can I turn the Wi-Fi on and off as and when I want to.

It could be that the CD player will only playback "Redbook" CD's from the previous position.
And starts mp3 type CD's from the beginnig.
However.. it's not Logic related.

I want to send synthetic key presses to Firefox in Xubuntu using "xdotool key "f11" or something similar. However, firefox ignores all synthetic keys when it is running. Is there a way to turn that feature off?
I have looking through About:config but did not see anything that would help.

Specifically from the section "If you aren't receiving iMessages across all iOS devices". #2 says "Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive>You Can Be Reached by iMessage At and make sure that you select each phone number and email address you want to use with iMessage." This same thing works in reverse, if you are receiving iMessages on a device and you don't want to, just unselect the phone number and email address you no longer want to use.

Thanks for your reply, but I had already turned the sound off there. I also removed email from the notifications shortcut on the top right of the screen.

Turning a feature of Firefox 4.0.1 Off

Please could you assist with how to turn off a feature that is new to me having recently started to use Firefox 4.0.1.?
When preparing to select a link, or when just hovering over a link, the link's address is displayed at the bottom left of my screen. As I find this feature annoying and distracting to whatever I am looking at on screen, please could you inform me if it simply possible to turn this feature off, and if so, how one may do this.

This is a security feature.
So if I create a link like this [[Safe Mode]], you have no way of knowing where it will take you just by looking at it. If however you can hover the mouse over it you can.
It's really not something you should think about disabling, but to do so, right click a blank part of the Tab bar and then click "Add-on bar" to remove the checkmark.

Previous webpages automaticlly load after a crash. Where can I turn this feature off ?

When Firefox crashes, I don't want the previous webpages I had open to load. They are the reason it crashed in the first place. I only want it to start up at my home page. Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.

That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.

Lately while doing a 'save image as', it tries to 2nd guess me. I HATE that! Any way to turn this feature off?

Doing the 'save image as' option, it will go back to the previous folder and keep going there for about 5 times before it save the image to the folder I want. Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.

ITunes stops refreshing podcast subscriptions. How do I turn this "feature" off?

I subscribe to a bunch of podcasts through iTunes. If I don't listen to a podcast from one of my subscriptions in a while, iTunes automatically decides to stop updating the subscription (and I have to manually tell it to resume downloading new podcasts). I want to turn this "feature" off. I'd like it to automatically update all of my podcast subscriptions whether I've listened to a podcast from that subscription recently or not.

This is ridiculous to not be able to bypass. Over the past two years, I have probably had to manually re-subscribe to 500+ podcasts. A total waste of time.
