[SOLVED] Unable to crack my own WEP network

For a long time I've been trying to do that (crack my 64 bit WEP wi-fi) but have given up because of various problems. For example I have the "Fixed channel -1" problem when aireplay-ing. But yesterday i decided that i could ignore that and just use airodump + aircrack + wget-ing a file .
So the commands i issued before i went to bed were:
airodump-ng --bssid <MACofAP> --channel 8 -w /tmp/overNight mon0 //on root terminal
while true; do wget <file> -O /dev/null; done
sleep 2h; aircrack /tmp/overNight-01.cap //on root terminal
sleep 4h; aircrack -K /tmp/overNight-01.cap //on root terminal
And so on the morning I found tthe PTW method failing with segmentation error.
The Korek one was just continuing testing keys... The night before I tried to eliminate each method alone using "aircrack -K /tmp/overNight-01.cap -k 1..17" with no success either. Worth noting is that I'm using "rtl8192se" driver.
> lspci | grep -i wireless
03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8191SEvB Wireless LAN Controller (rev 10)
Today I tried backtrack 5. Needed to download and compile the same driver manually, all other related failed to work. I had a segmentation fault again with PTW and got no success with aireplay-ng other that when i issued -1 0 attack I saw a lot of different MACs in airodump. No "Channel -1" as far as i saw but still even the test -9 fails 0/30.
But really, the strangest is how I can't crack the pass with over 1,5 million IVs ! No idea how to proceed now, would be awesome if someone has one

Did it! There was one slight thing i missed that caused me to trip on Step 3 of the tutorial - WIFI card has MAC address too. Always entered eth0 mac address on -h... The thing got me running was a post where i read "Wireless mac adress". :
Cracking WEP more quickly:
airodump-ng mon0
airodump-ng -w wep -c [channel] --bssid [bssid number] mon0
open new console
aireplay-ng -1 6000 -a [bssid] -e [router name] -h [my wireless mac] 5 -o 1 -q 10 mon0
open new console
aireplay-ng -2 -b [bssid] -h [my wireless mac] -c FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF -p 0841 mon0
Crack:
open new console (4 terminals open now) Data needs to hit about 30,000 from first terminal window
Type dir
aircrack-ng [filename].cap
After following the steps provided i cracked the easy pass of my wep network in ~2 minutes with about 40k data. Thank you for helping me, these compat-wireless drivers really proved to matter. Still don't understand why i can't passively capture and crack without them but Ill have to accept it needs them. Awesome, for a long time this has been my goal ^^ Thank you again
PS:

>    3  00:0E:2E:60:E0:91  Rosito                    WPA (0 handshake)
are u sure IVs arent for WEP? this output came from aircrack, asking me which network when i havent specified...
PS2: gotta add one thing - doing "/etc/rc.d/networkmanager stop" is mandatory. otherwise aireplay wont inject. also the "-o 1 -q 10" options of the second step seem to do nothing, can do fine without em. On the other hand "-p 0841" on the third step is a must, dont inject any data without it. It seems to work with only that value as far as i see, which is very strange cuz its not mentioned almost anywhere in guides.
PS3: updated that guide i followed for better usage: http://pastebin.com/0nPabSJC
PS4: with "aireplay -3" its even easier, even intuitive. In the man page it says its more reliable but it seems to me its a bit slower in the data injecting process. But i guess the benefit is that you never use your ip (i know i can change for the other method too). At least its so easy, just turn it on and wait for some1 to use the net. Saves one terminal
PS5: after checking again, turns out that sometimes i can't aireplay -1 without "-o 1 -q 10".

  • I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s

I have an AirPort Extreme running the latest software. I've tried everything and still am unable to join my own wifi network from my iPhone 4s, iPhone 3Gs, iPhone 3G, my girlfriend's iPhone 4. The only devices that will connect to the network are our MacBook Pros and iPads, (1 and 2). I have reset the airport to default settings, I've restored my iPhone, I've even disabled the password. I am still unable to join my open airport extreme wifi network. PLEASE HELP!

Saying you tried everything isn't helpful. Perhaps describing in detail what you've done would allow people to better assist you.
If you're ever experiencing strange problems connecting to any wifi point you can always try resetting your network settings on your iPhone itself. This solves the majority of wifi problems.
To do this go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will clear all of your saved wifi hotspots and passwords, and hopefully solve your issue.
Please try this and respond with your results.

  • I am unable to join my own wifi network with new iphone 5

I am unable to join my own wifi network with new iphone 5.  It has the latest software downloaded too.  Keeps saying unable to join network after I type in the password.  All my other devices are able to join but just not the iphone.  I've called Verizon and my internet provider and they have been unable to help.  I had no problems with my iphone 4 with this very same issue.  Please help or I'll be forced to return this phone.  I have 13 days left.

Try power-cycling your router (unplug for 15 seconds, then plug back in), then on your phone go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Reset Network Settings, and try joining your network again.  Note: resetting network settings will erase passwords for previously joined networks on your phone.

Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express

I am unable to join my existing wireless network with new AirPort Express.
I am using a DLink DI-524 Router, Windows 7 (64), and the AirPort Express.
AirPort Utility will not recognize the AEX wirelessly, it will only recognize it when it is connected by Ethernet. I can then configure the AEX and verify that the settings stick once disconnected and then reconnected. However, even after that, it will not recognize the AEX once disconnected from the Ethernet cable.
I followed the suggestions of several other threads on these forums. But I am unable to get the AEX to work.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the discussion area!
It's almost always a security setting that causes problems when the Airport Express (AX) tries to join a third party wireless network. The AX usually does not "join" correctly and that's why you can't see it on your wireless network using AirPort Utility.
Using an ethernet cable is still the more reliable way to configure and adjust the AX, but if you are want to try to configure it using wireless, you must return the AX back to factory defaults as follows:
    Power down the AX
Hold in the reset button +and keep holding it in+ as you plug the AX back in to power
Release the reset button after 10 seconds
When it is set to factory defaults, the AX broadcasts a wireless signal with a network name like "apple network xxxxxx" where the "x's" are either letters or numbers. You must look for this network by clicking on the fan shaped Airport icon at the top of the screen. If you don't see this network, then click Join Other Network to search that way. Unless you connect to this network, you will not be able to configure the AX using wireless.
Do you know the exact security type that your D-Link router is using? That is the key element in the process.
Open AirPort utility, click Manual Setup
Click the Base Station tab to establish a name for the AX, device password and adjust time zone settings
    Click the Wireless tab
    Wireless Mode....Join a wireless network
Wireless Network Name...must exactly match your D-Link wireless network name
Enable ethernet clients if you want the port to be active (your D-Link must be compatible with ProxySTA for this to work)
Wireless Security...exact setting of the D-Link network. WEP security causes a lot of issues. Try to use WPA/WPA2 Personal, which is far more secure.
Wireless Password...must match the D-Link network
Click the Music icon to enable AirTunes
    Click Update to save settings
    Any luck?

  • My S4 is unable to connect to the cellular network after the 4.4.2 update failed to install this afternoon.

I attempted to install the OTA update for 4.4.2, but received an error message that the installation failed. When my phone rebooted it was unable to connect to the cell network and was extremely sluggish. I own an iMac and the S4 is no longer recognized by Kies or Android File Transfer.
I attempted turning off the phone and removing the battery and Sim, to no avail. I also attempted to access the recovery tools, but the phone will no longer boot to recovery. I tried a factory reset, but I do no recall ever setting the security PIN it seems to require.

  • Photosmart 5520 created own wireless network

I've successfully set up my new wireless HP Photosmart 5520 with one problem.  It says it joined our home network, yet whenever we try to print to it we can't.  I've figured out that the printer has set up its own wireless network called "HP-Print-74-Photosmart 5520" and if we wish to print or scan, we have to switch from our home wifi network to this wifi network.  This is ridiculous.  Can someon please help?  We should be able to print and scan using our normal home wifi router network.  (We're all mac users.)
If I can't get this to work properly, I'm returning the thing to the store tomorrow!
    Thank you.

Looks like the way you setup is not right. You can use Ad-hoc network to print but this is not what you want. Please check the following manual to set it up the way you want:

  • The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".

The Game Center is "unable to load data due to network connectivity issues or errors".
My internet is fine: all other apps that do not rely on the Game Center work, as does my browser and other online functions; additionally, a friend's iPhone connects to his Game Center perfectly while he is sitting next to me.
Closing the Game Center app and then reopening it is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then logging back in, and then reopening the Game Center is ineffective. Opening the options for the Game Center in the settings, logging out of my Apple ID, then reopening the Game Center app and logging back in from there is ineffective.
This issue has gone on for more than a month, and so the phone has gone through all variations of "turn it off then back on again, refresh the system, etc etc" that are the basic first suggestions for trouble shooting.
One game app, which required a Game Center profile to launch, stopped working entirely, and would return a message saying something like "connect to the Game Center". I eventually deleted it to free up space. Other games which can be linked to the Game Center to connect with friends simply fail to link, returning "Game Center unavailable". This is the aspect that is currently bothering me the most: I cannot play games with friends unless the app can also link to Facebook and connect to friends from there.
When I open the Game Center, I see the following screen. The bubbles float gently, and it seems as if I had the ability to update my "status". However doing so results in a message that has vanished once the app is reopened.
Upon tapping Games, either the bubble from the main screen or the option on the ribbon at the bottom, the following screen appears. Clicking on Challenges shows a message that achievements must be viewed to issue a challenge. Clicking achievements results in a message that games must be connected (and from my friend's phone I know I have several apps that should appear).
Upon tapping friends, it does show me a list of suggested friends pulled from Facebook, but attempting to send a friend request results in the following screen. After accepting the error box, the "send" button for the request is grayed out and unavailable regardless of adding or deleting friends and/or an accompanying message.
In short, the Game Center is completely unresponsive for no discernible reason, and this problem began with no warning and is now long term. Though my iPhone is older (a 4s), my friend's is even older (a regular 4) and works fine.

I am having the very same problem on my iPad running ios 7. All is fine on my iPhone it opens no problem - this is running on ios 8. I wish they would fix it.

    Hi,
Generally, this issue should be related with something called split tunneling, since you’re using a F5 vpn client, you need to look for something related to split tunneling in the F5 VPN client's documentations.
Here is an example, share it with you as a reference.

  • I am unable to open my own pdfs in Photoshop

I am unable to open my own pdfs in my Photoshop (ones that I have created in same Photoshop). Can anyone advise?
I get the message "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened."
I have to keep recreating the art...ugh!! Is there a way to pull up history to replicate my artwork until I get this resolved??

History (as indicated in the History Panel) is deleted when closing a file.
Photoshop > Preferences > General > History Log could be used to get a list of performed steps, but this is not directly executable.
ScriptingListener.plugin can be used to record operations, but not everything in Photoshop is recordable thusly.
As for the issue with the pdfs:
Which settings do you use exactly when saving pdfs?
Is there a chance the drive you save to is faulty?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

All user are unable to see their own profile photo

I have confirmed this happens with any new users I set up as well. We have gone through a fair amount of troubleshooting with other Lync photo issues and simple fixes such as deleting the SIP cache folder etc proves to be ineffective.

We have "Replicate this attribute to the Global Catalog" set

We are also forcing photos from AD only (or no photo) by setting the following:

the image file and then copies it to the user's cache to avoid downloading the image each time it needs to be displayed. The attribute values returned from the query are also stored in the cached Address Book Service entry for the user. The Address Book Service
deletes all cached images every 24 hours, which means that it can take up to 24 hours for new user images to be updated in the cache on the server.
To troubleshoot your problem, please follow the steps below:
    1.  Navigate to
     “X:\share\1-WebServices-1\ABfiles\000000000\000000000” folder. (ABS file share)
You should see some photo files in this folder as the following screenshot.
    2. Delete all the files in this folder.
    3. On test PC, delete local cache files.
    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\[email protected]
    4. Sign-in Lync with the test account.
    5. Go back to the ABS file share, check if there is any Photo file in the folder.
    Best regards,
    Eric
