[Solved] Unable to use ffmpegthumbnailer with videos

Hi,
I'd really like to use the ffmpegthumbnailer with my videos to replace the normal video icons. However neither installing totem or ffmpegthumbnailer works as when I open Gconf and go to 'apps > gnome > thumbnailers' and look for those video@foo keys, there are no keys in them!
Manually creating boolean key 'enable' and string key 'command' - 'ffmpegthumbnailer -i %i -o %o -s %s -f -t 15' won't work as when I click on those keys I created the key infos say "This key has no schema" but the 'command' key also says "This key is not writable" (screenies: http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/3677 … ration.png, http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/3677/s … ration.png).
So any ideas how can I make my video thumbnailers work?
- Thanks

I thought this was already solved and I marked this as [solved] for a sec.
So whatever, I rebuilt thunar, thunar-archive-plugin, thunar-media-tags-plugin, thunar-thumbnailers, ffmpeg-thumbnailer, nautilus, pcmanfm with abs but that only made the video thumbnails to work with Thunar and Nautilus.

  • [SOLVED] Unable to use DRI due to DRM problem

    HI.
I have a Sony Vaio laptop with an ATI video card, and I'm using the opensource ATI video drivers.
The problem is that I'm unable to use DRI. I think it's because there's no DRM module loaded.
    How can I fix that?

    Hi signor_rossi.
The 'drm' module was not loaded because I didn't include the 'radeon' module in my rc.conf file
I added 'radeon' to my modules and restarted, which led to another problem. To solve this new problem, I had to declare some additional modules before the radeon module, like this:
    ati_agp agpgart radeon radeonfb
(It seems that the 'ati_agp' and 'agpgart' modules must be loaded before the 'radeon' module)
I added the 'radeonfb' module just in case, but I'm not sure if I'll need it.
With this configuration in place, DRI is finally enabled, but now the screen is completely black
I started the X server with:
    startx 2>startx.log
After the screen went all black, I killed X (by typing <ctrl>+<alt>+<backspace>) and typed 'reboot' in order to get a visible screen again.
This is the last part of 'startx.log':

In order to avoid the black screen, I have to disable DRI in my xorg.conf file...
    Any idea is welcome.

  • Unable to use PE9 with my Canon 5D Mark III

I could use some help please.  When I try to download my new Canon 5D Mark III Raw into PE9 I get an error message telling me that PE is unable to open it because it is the wrong file type.  My new Canon 5D Mark III lists the file type as ST8Axxxx instead of the normal IMG_xxxx that I'm used to.  Can anyone tell me how to use PE9 with my Canon 5D Mark III camera?  Thank you!

    Hi,
The 5D MK III is not supported by PSE 9. It requires ACR 6.7 or 7.1 which will not apply to PSE 9.
    You can either :-
    1) Update to a newer version of elements
    2) Use the Canon software to covert the raw files to TIF files and then import the TIF files
    3) Download and install the free Adobe DNG Converter. Convert the raw files to DNG files and then import the DNG files into elements.
You can obtain latest dng converter from:
    mac: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh
    windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Hope it helps

  • [SOLVED] Unable to use GUI applications on any WM I tried except TWM

I'm using Arch Linux at my work despite it's very risky because something may go wrong pretty often (rolling distro, latest packages, DIY for newbs like me etc.). Unfortunately, this is one of those times...
I was using Xmonad. It all started w/ Chromium crashing a lot. I had a discussion about it here, but nobody found a solution. Chromium just got frozen and I could only kill it manually. Then I switched to Google Chrome and it get a little better. Today it was so bad that I couldn't do my daily work, so I switched to Opera; then Firefox... the same! After that I discovered that it happens w/ any GUI application. Good thing I'm using terminals for almost anything else I do. Anyway, I need GUI browser! So I thought that it may be something related to Xmonad itself. That's why I installed Xfce4 and... ...the same - GUI crashes. It's even worse actually because Xfce4 has a lot more GUI elements than Xmonad.
Now I'm writing from TWM and it has crashed only twice in two hours. What should I do? I really have no idea what could broke the things here. I really need help, guys!
Ohh, back home I have PC w/ almost the same conf -- everything works. Driver problems?
P.S. Title says "wrong focus" because sometimes application just freezes, sometimes it loses focus and I'm unable to use it... weird stuff.
    P.S.S. Changed title.

So, as I understand it.... Haskell somehow conflicted w/ X11 when I did system upgrade.
    Quick solution was to:
    1. Remove Xmonad (xmonad, xmonad-contrib),
    2. Try to remove Haskell (ghc),
    3. Remove all needed packages that disallows to remove Haskell,
    4. Remove Haskell,
    5. Check that system still works (I tried to do things w/ TWM and system upgrade),
    6. Put on any WM (I'm now using Awesome, but you can try to reinstall Xmonad as well (just follow all logs and stuff)).
Also, this fixed problem /w browser crashing.
P.S. Maybe this is just temporary solution, but for last 30 mins everything works /w problems.

  • Unable to use HD with usb shows errors on disc,

I have just bought a new airport extreme, and have conected it to my windows pc using a Belkin draft n adaptor, i am unable to use my 305gb maxtor 3200 0344, which is displayed in the setup utility as the above, but when i open the utility it tells me there are errors on the disc and to connect to my pc and run a disc repair, i have done this and there seems to be no problems, The airport disc agent does'nt seem to display it and is just blank, it is ntfs and on the box it said it is also apple mac compatable, any thoughts, thanx.

jask, Welcome to the discussion area!
Sorry but NTFS is not a supported format. You will need to reformat the drive. See KB 305038, AirPort Extreme (802.11n): USB storage device supported formats and protocols.

  • Leopard : Network : Unable to use DHCP with manual address.

After installing Leopard on my Macmini (PowerPC 1.42Ghz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD), I found my IP address obtains different IP address than Panther and Tiger use. Then I go into System Preferences -> Network -> select Ethernet -> select "Using DHCP with manual address" in the "Configure" combo box, and change the IP address from 192.168.0.8 to 192.168.0.100. Once I hit apply, the network connection never comes back. There is no complaint that another computer is using the 192.168.0.100 IP address. This works if I am using Panther or Tiger on the same computer.
    Any help is appreciated.

Setting the DHCP to a number you want to use can be very useful in a busy environment. I usually choose to use numbers that are outside of the range of numbers being controlled by my router (Westell).
Port Forwarding for services like ARD, Azureus, or any server application break when the IP number changes for any reason.
Some routers will not allow numbers outside of a restricted range of numbers that can be set up in the router configuration menu's. In this case, I find out if the router is assigning numbers from the high or low end and make sure I assign numbers at the opposite end of the range.
My Westell router does allow me to use numbers other than the range of 50 numbers it has been told to use for DHCP, but I have also encountered problems when trying this on a wireless connection.

  • [SOLVED] Unable to use SUDO: issues with /etc/sudoers

I have reinstalled Arch_64 and I have run into some problems with SUDO.
I get the following errors when I try to use sudo:
sudo : unable to stat /etc/sudoers : Permission Denied
sudo : no valid sudoers sources found, quitting
sudo : unable to initialize policy plugin
Here's what I have done with it so far:
    * I added USERNAME (myself) to the 'wheel' group
    * I uncommented %wheel ALL=(ALL) All using visudo
As it was not working for me I also:
    * # chown -c root:root /etc/sudoers
    * # chmod -c 0440 /etc/sudoers
    * Since that too did not work, I recommented %wheel and added USERNAME ALL=(ALL) ALL just under the line root ALL=(ALL) ALL and repeated the above steps. The above problem persists.
    * I checked with visudo -c and it says "/etc/sudoers parsed ok".
I have been through the WIKI and the forums but still unable to figure out whats going wrong.
I will appreciate if the forum can guide me to solution and help me resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

Had exactly the same problem with a new Arch_64 install a few months ago, which turned out to be a problem with permissions on / (which i changed with chmod) - can't remember the details, but it was this post that put me on to a solution:

  • [Solved] Unable to use all memory or unable to boot

I solved this issue by uninstalling the Nouveau drivers. So if you have both the NVIDIA binary drivers and nouveau installed and the computer doesn't boot past the UDev uevents line, try uninstalling the nouveau drivers.
    Hello!
I've been having some problems with my desktop PC, and was wondering if anybody knows how to fix these problems.
First, my computer refuses to boot if I have my NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS in the PCIe slot. It boots fine into Windows XP and 7.
What happens is that the computer boots all the way to "Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed", where it locks up, ignoring keyboard input.
I found that if I booted the computer with the option mem=6GB added to the kernel boot options, the computer boots properly. (Yes, I know, 6GB should be 6G)
however, this reduces my usable memory to 4GB.
    This is what dmesg says:
    Memory: 4565500k/6291456k available (3312k kernel code, 1573636k absent, 151368k reserved, 1752k data, 472k init)
If I remove the graphics card, the computer boots as normal, and shows all of my 6GB of ram.
Here is my entire dmesg output:
    Linux version 2.6.32-ARCH (tobias@T-POWA-LX) (gcc version 4.4.2 20091208 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 7 22:28:29 CET 2010

  • Unable to use USPS with Safari 7.0.1 or Mavericks

Hi, Today I tried printing a label with postage at the USPS website. I was unable to proceed off the first page even though all my account info is present. Anybody else have this problem? I'm using Safari 7.0.1 and Mavericks 10.9.1. Website says I must use IE 8. When did that happen!

Solved my own problem. You now have to enter a package value in order to proceed with Click N Ship

  • Can't use applications with Video. They use all my CPU

    Hi,
I'm having issue with ichat but also with any other application that uses video.
ichat is the worst though. If i start a video conference ichat will use about 35% of CPU and a few seconds into it will goes up to using 110% to 180% of my CPU and stay there! Then the video and audio become very choppy and the rest of my computer is almost unusable.
I didn't not have this problem when i was running tiger.
Photobooth does the same thing but not as intensely.
Would anyone know why?? I would love to solve this problem.
    Thank you!

This is what I've read indeed. Which scare me because my optical drive doesnt work anymore. It reject everything i put in there. So If the 10.5.3 makes my computer crash i've got no way of fixing it... I would have to reinstall but in order to do that i need an external cd drive which i do not have at the moment.
    Any other suggestions?

  • Unable to use SSO with universe connection on top of SAP BW query

    Hi,
We're creating a universe on top of a SAP BW query by using universe designer.
We logon to universe designer by using SAP credential.
When creating the connection, we set the option "Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time" in order to logon to BW server. But when clicking next, an error arises:
"DBD: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data"
The strange thing on this is that there is one laptop which is able to set up this kind of connection, while all other workstations are not able to set it because they recieve that error (we all work against the same BO server). So this looks like an installation issue.
We reinstalled SAP Integration Solutions on those workstations, but problem is still the same.
I found thread: Universe Connection Authentication on SAP BW which talks about the same issue, but solution involves uninstalling Xcelsius. But we do need Xcelsius!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    David.

  • Unable to get page with video to validate and need help getting text to display correctly

I need advice on getting a page to validate that has a video. I didn't make the video, but all other pages vallidate that don't have it.
Also, when testing viewing on ie with large font view the navigation bar on the left doesn't display correctly. I've tried all fixes I can think of, but none work.
As always any advice is greatly appreciated.
page can be viewed at: http://www.lotusvalleydesigns.com/previewpages/services.html

Eeeeeuuuuu yuck.  You know, I've never used that setting in IE and I don't think I ever will again.
Look what happens to CNN's website when you do that.
    http://CNN.com
I think IE sucks and this is another fine example of MS's zeal to pile on user options that no one should use.  If MS made their zoom feature optional the way Firefox does, nobody would ever need this atrocious "accessibility" option.
    Good luck,
    Nancy O.
