[SOLVED]-Upgraded motherboard and CPU-UUID error?

I upgraded (replaced) my motherboard and CPU-from a dual core to a 3 core AMD.  Still on AM2 socket with DDR2 memory.
Arch-Fallback boots fine.  But my normal Arch will not get to drive checks and boot.  The errors allude to Arch wanting to change drive UUIDs but failing.  It ends with a command ramfs$ prompt-but keyboard input does not work at it...even though keyboard in BIOS works fine
Any theories how to get the regular Arch to boot?  This bug is the only real problem with the process-I haven't done anything else to prepare or finish the upgrade.  And as I said Arch-Fallback boots and works beautifully.
Errors say:
Loading filesystem module
Attempting to create device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/blah blah blah'
ERROR; Failed to parse block device name for '/dev/disk/by-uuid/blah blah blah'
ERROR: root fs cannot be detected
happens 3 times for each of patitions mounted on system at boot.  The root UUID I know exists, as it is in GRUB to load Arch to begin with.

  • Move Windows 8.1 Pro Hard Drive, Graphics Card and Programs to New Motherboard and CPU

Want to move everything, hard drive, installed programs, video card, network adapter, ram drive, DVD, from one computer to another, nothing will change except motherboard and CPU.  Old motherboard and CPU will be installed in a new computer case which
will revert back to a Windows 7 Pro computer with a fresh install and no programs to be used as a dedicated CAD work station. Motherboard and CPU swap will be the only change, even the RAM will be the same.  What activation problems will I encounter,
I do not want to re-install anything, if possible.

    Hi,
I would like to confirm what kind of licensing you used on Windows 8.1, the OEM or the retailed.
For the OEM one, the Windows 8.1 transferred to another new Motherboard will not be activated.
For the retailed one, you should find that the system will boot with the new motherboard, install some drivers then boot successfully.
You will need to use telephone activation for the updated system, but should not need to re-install. When warned that you need to activate, select the "Contact Microsoft Customer Support" option and follow the instructions. With a tone dial phone
you can do this without speaking to anyone. See http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/24636-activate-windows-8-phone.html

  • 770-C45 Motherboard and CPU question

I have referred to the CPU compatibility chart for this motherboard and my question is in regards to the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition CPU. I see other 965 CPU's listed as compatible. I realize that this CPU is 140 watts. Is this a problem. Could someone please clarify this for me.
    Thanks for your time

thanks for the assistance, I have decided to go with a 955 instead of a 965.
I also read the Memory sticky and it said to look for AMD tested RAM. I am using tigerdirect.ca and dont see any RAM that says it has been specifically made for an AMD. Currently I am looking at  Kingston PC10600 1333MHz 4GB DDR3 (KVR1333D3K2/4GR). I only plan to use 2 as per the guide. Any suggestions.
Thanks for clearing up my earlier question.

  • Get NI RMC 8355 motherboard and CPU serial number programmatically

    Hi all,
I need to read the motherboard or CPU serial numbers of the NI RMC 8355 programmatically.
I have tried to use "wmic baseboard get serialnumber" comand in cmd, but it returns "0123456789", which apparently is not a valid serial number.
Does anyone have any idea how I can read that information?
Is there any toolkit or LabVIEW VI which will do that job.
    Thanks in advance.

    Gevorg,
This is a Windows property that you can access the same way you would with a desktop PC, using the 'wmic baseboard get serialnumber' command.

    Hello @jgarner,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I understand that you are looking to upgrade a few parts on your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
All of the recommendations I can suggest are purely based on the motherboard that came with your computer. With this said, the upgradable options for potential processors are as follows:
(while these processors may not have applicable parts for the HP PartSurfer, they can be acquired by 3rd party vendors)
AMD Phenom II X6 10xxT Six-Core (Thuban core)
AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb core)
AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka core)
AMD Phenom II X2 5xx (Callisto core)
    AMD Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (Propus)
    AMD Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
    AMD Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
AMD Sempron Single Core 1xx (Sargas core)
The upgradable memory you can install on your computer are:
    Dual channel memory architecture
    Two DDR3 DIMMs (240-pin) sockets       PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066)
           PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) 497157-D88
    Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
    Supports 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB DDR3 DIMMs
Supports up to 8 GB on 64-bit systems (DIMMs run at DDR3-1066)
Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit PCs
*32-bit PCs cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory
    I hope this helps!

  • Can i take out the motherboard and CPU and replace it with a newer one?

I was wondering if i could take out the CPU and Motherboard of an early 2011 13" macbook pro with a 2.3GHz dual core i5, and replace it with a 2012 2.9GHz 13" dual core i7? I don't care about the costs but i just want to know if it's possible? I've upgraded my computer to the max so far, but i need some more processing power and i think the new ivy bridge processors will do me some good. Thanks for any replies

    NOPE.
    I'm about 99.9% sure it won't fit.
Plus the rest of the stuff won't plug or won't be compatible.

  • Problem with motherboard and cpu cooler

    First of all , hello.
Let me present my current pc.
    Mainboard - MSI 880GM-E41
CPu - Amd phenom x2 560 black - unlocked to quad
    Ram - 4 gb kingmax DDR 3
    Video - Gainward GTS 450 512 DDR 5
Hdd - Western Digital 640 GB
    Power suply - Sirtech 400 W
Now the problem.I bought a Scythe Katana 3 cooler because i couldnt stand the noise from AMD stock cooler anymore.
The cooler RPM in idle/load / full load is 2800 RPM (maximum !) Shoudnt the mainboard set the cooler's rotation to match the processor current usage ? My cooler stand in maximum rotations every single time.
Note that my temperatures are excelent.
I took a look in Bios and could find much.
    H/W Monitor
    Cooler - 4 pins selected
Smart fan target - disabled selected.Guess this is the automatic option.I dont wanna set it to manual in order to give some values.
Amd cool and quiet - enabled (tried it with disabled too , same deal)
    C1E support - enabled.
Would updating my bios to lasted available solve this problem ? I wanted to do that but i wonder if updating the bios would interfere with my unlock of the processor's cores.
    Thanks you very much.

    Yes , it is
I dont actualy have an "enabled" option....just disabled or some values.
    I heard from a friend that :
Smart Fan Target - the critical temperature from which the fan starts to grow in rotations
Cpu Min.Fan Speed - the desired rotations per minute in idle
    Is this correct ?
    Im thinking about
    First - 45
Second - dont know....i have to test with different values.

  • Let's talk motherboard and CPU in simple English please-

I am a home enthusiast/student (signed up with a popular web site) that loves all things Adobe. I have the Master Suite. I love Premiere Pro (can’t wait to learn After Effects). I have a consumer-grade AVCHD video camera from a ‘big box store’.
I don’t care about having a gaming rig or overclocking, or learning about RAID, or a huge/heavy computer case in my tiny office. So the minimum number of drives will work.
I have been watching Newegg TV and the ASUS guy nearly put me in a coma with all the acronyms.
I want a ‘middle of the road’ rig.
Can someone enlighten me on the following:
    Sandy Bridge vs. Ivy Bridge?
    LGA 1155 vs. LGA 2011?
What does this mean: “Onboard Video Chipset: Supported only by CPU with integrated graphic”? This is a common note on the motherboard description on the website.
    SSD caching?
    Thanks.

    >I want a ‘middle of the road’ rig
What does that mean in dollars?

  • Replacing motherboard and CPU on an Aspire 5560

It would seem the CMOS or something else on my 5560 got corrupted permanently. I see some affordable MB + CPU replacement parts. I am comfortable with replacing the MB.  Not sure about the CPU (does one need a special tool to lift the chip out of the socket?).  I do have thermal paste to apply on the replacement. What CPU can I upgrade with, if there is any advantage to doing so (i.e., is the system limited elsewhere such as clock spped, RAM). The OEM CPU is an AMD A6-3420M.

  • OK WHATS THE BEST MOTHERBOARD AND CPU FOR ONLINE GAMING

Here i go again thinking about stepping up on motherboaerds and cpus! If you have an opinion on which would make the best online gaming setup let me here you hollor! I will only go with intel so all amd lovers  dont bother!

He's better off with a Q6600 over the E6850, because you can clock the Q6600 to QX6850 speeds and it's quad core, so future proof anyway.
    And the Q6600 costs less.
However the CPU will be very limited by that 7900GT.
    A 8800GTX or HD2900XT would be a better choice.
EDIT: Get a G0 stepping Q6600, they have a lower TDP of 95w and require less voltage.

  • [SOLVED] Upgrade - filesystem and glibc again

I did not update for almost 3 month now, and tried to follow the advice on the archlinux homepage, but it doesn't work.
    First trial:
pacman -Syu --ignore filesystem && pacman -S filesystem --force
    error:
    glibc: /lib exist in filesystem
    ghc: /usr/bin/haddock exist in filesystem
    Second trial:
    pacman -Syu --ignore glibc
[Never use --force during this update].
    error:
    :: libcanberra-pulse: needs libcanberra=0.28-4
    :: pyqt: needs python-sip
There are hundreds of posts to similar problems, but I really don't know where I fit in with my problem. Did I mess up my system using force in the first trial? I had /var/lock and /var/run as symlinks already before trying the update.
How can I update now? Will my system be gone when I try to reboot?
    Thanks for any tips

    pacman -S tzdata
    pacman -U http://pkgbuild.com/~allan/glibc-2.16.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
    rm /etc/profile.d/locale.sh
    pacman -Su --ignore glibc
    and everything went fine, luckily,
    then I had this error:
    ghc: /usr/bin/haddock existist in filesystem
shall I simply delete this (symlink)?
    EDIT:
well, I deleted it, and went for the next (last) step of the recipe
    pacman -Su
    but got:
    glibc: /lib exist in filesystem
    EDIT 2:
After deleting /lib/modules/ following the wiki recipe cited on this page it finally worked.
Quite complicated, the whole thing, but thanks to everybody for the help.
