[SOLVED]Virtualbox installation, X, display drivers

Hi,
Installing arch in virtual box and I'm unsure of a few things which I'd like to understand. I've been running through the wiki on installing X but do not understand about the graphics drivers.
So, I understand the virtual box has its own virtual graphics card and that the drivers are in the virtualbox-archlinux-additions package. I've installed this, added the modules, daemons etc.
Is that all I have to do?
One confusion I had with this + x is there is no xorg.conf. I believe it uses an auto one from /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d?
One problem I am having is startx works (was missing xterm) however, it presents me with a black screen and 3 xterm windows which I cant resize.
I installed an arch VM a little while ago, I think I got confused and installed some generic graphics drivers and I remember the initial startx being blue with basic windows so I'm thinking something is up.
I'm trying to get it using the best drivers possible, as this is a VM for work so I will be using alot.
Wandering if anyone out there can help defuzz this.

hmm, didnt notice the steps on pacman after install, thats pretty cool. Unfortunatly I've lost those steps, but thinking they are the same as the wiki. Finally managed to solve my LXDE install issues and ran that, so it all seemed to work well. So I'm guessing the drivers must all be installed and X has figured itself out. great!

Can not install NVIDIA Display Drivers

I have a T61 (7664-17U) with XP SP2.
For sometime now I've had problems with the NVIDIA display drivers. Occasionally my NVIDIA drivers disappear and are replaced by VGA . I notice this when I can't Standby or Hibernate my system, those options are grayed out. Also, interacting with the display is difficult..
I've tried several times to update my 12/2007 drivers to the latest ones from the Lenovo site. The latest drivers appear to be installing (InstallShield?) but I get a message after a few minutes that "The system has not been modified. To install the program at a later time, run the installation again." No other information.
I found out early that if I install the old drivers everything was OK, until yesterday. Yesterday when I tried to install the old drivers I got
" Error Code: -5004 : 0x80070005 rror InformationSetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1968 PAPP:NVIDIA Display Drivers PVENDOR:NVIDIA Corporation (http://www.nvidia.com/) PGUID:EFB7D050-CAD2-11D4-B34D-00105A1C23DD $9.1.0.429

I tried several iterations of installing the drivers including downloading the latest ThinkVantage installer.
How can I solve this problem? Should I try downloading the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA website?

You can't install drivers obtained from the NVidia website. You'll get a "No compatible hardware found" message.
You're supposed to only install video drivers obtained from Lenovo.
If your T61 is still under warranty, a request for service is in order.

I have a problem when using Google Maps, at some point my computer blanks the window and says there's a problem with display drivers, and it has recovered,but it doesn't. Problem doesn't happen with Int Explorrer, so I do not believe it is the computer

When using google maps through Firefox, after asking for a place which is not the general North America section which routinely comes up, the firefox screen goes white, with a narrow banner at the top. A message appears in the lower right corner which says something about display drivers having had a problem, but now have recovered. However the display doesn't recover and the banner message is that Firefox is not responding. When I go to restart Firefox if I go to the restore point, the page is still frozen out.
I do not believe it is a problem with my computer because it doesn't happen if I use I.E. to go to google maps, then G-maps works normally.
This phenomenon did not happen before the latest upgrade to either Google or Firefox. I have used Fiefox for a number of years and also Google Maps on previous computers and on this one, and not had this before.
This is a relatively young computer (Asus EeSlate 121) less than a year old. I have used Firefox since I bought it and until recently had no problem with Google Maps.

I solved it myself, after the "note" which came back from FF/Mozilla just as I finished my message, commenting on what it was that my system had , I wnnt back to check my plug-ins etc. I downloaded the latest Java, BOTH 32bit AND 64 bit versions and latest Firefox.
Now all is working.

Qosmio F10-136 display drivers/video controller

I am in the middle of resintalling everything on my Qosmio F10-136 laptop. I have used the display drivers from the Toshiba website. However, in the device manager the video controller is showing an error and the drivers are not installed. The graphics card is a nVidia GeForce FX go5700. Scrolling pages up and down in IE is very slow.
Also when I go to display properties settings-advanced-adapter the graphics card is not shown under adapter type.
Anyone know what the problem is? Do I need to download drivers from somewhere esle?

The graphic driver released on the Toshiba European driver page is working and can be installed properly.
I think you did something wrong.
Try to reinstall the graphic driver again.
Remove the graphic controller from the device manager list and reboot the notebook.
Then try to reinstall the driver again. I would recommend installing it in device manger.
Choose graphic card, update the driver, then point to the downloaded graphic driver and finish the installation.

Display drivers crash when calling

Hello, recently i built a new gaming rig and had installed skype within a few days. Problem is, whenever i start a call or receive one from another person, my display drivers crash. At times it recovers, but sometimes it doesnt at all and requires me to restart my PC.
Specs:
MSI Z97 PCMate LGA1150 : Motherboard
Sapphire Radeon r7 260x : GPU
Pentium g3258 : CPU
Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit : OS
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Uninstall the currently installed version and and install the 6.14.0.104 version using the download links provided here:

Make sure to disable automatic updates:
Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

Hi Nay,
Alternative have a look on the Toshiba European page. There I founded a similar model, Tecra M2 PTM20E, and I think the downloads should also work for your model:

Furthermore you can see an installation instructions document for Windows XP. Its a list for the recommend driver installation order, tested by Toshiba. :)
Last but not least you can identify the hardware using hardware and vendor ID. Therefore check this article:

For some reason, your model T520 isn't in the tabook Using the link above "SUPPORT -> Products and Parts Detail -> enter T520 then 4246" the detailed specs page shows Intel HD3000 graphics: Detailed specifications - ThinkPad T520
So, no nVIdia graphics the way I read it.

Vista installation of P1505n drivers

Hello, i am having problem with installation of drivers , on to Vista Business. The installation,starts but when the printer is connected to the machine, nothing happens (the Vista recognises the printer as "unknown device" ), and installation hangs.... I tried all possible ways of installation,whit all drivers.Printer is 100% working, because i tested it, on other Vista machines, it just wont recognise on this particular one.

Satellite A300D-1EI - blue screen error - display drivers had failed

I 've bought my laptop a month ago.
Everything is working great except two "blue screen" errors caused by the graphics card.
Both were when the laptop was connected with TV through S-video port.
First was when the laptop display turned off after 15 minutes while watching a movie, on resume said that display drivers had failed and then I got the blue screen. Then I updated the display drivers from ATI's website and set the laptop display not to turn off.
All were ok with no problems, until last night when I got another message that display drivers had failed followed by a blue screen.
I am wondering if this is a driver's problem or is something wrong with my graphics card.
System Info:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T8400 @ 2.26 GHz
Memory (RAM): 3.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit Windows Vista Home Premium
Display Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470

So long you use ATI driver from ATI support page there is no possibility to say anything about it.
This driver is not tested and Toshiba cannot offer any help about it.
So what you can do is to install OS again using recovery media and see what will happen in the future. Please test it intensively with clean preinstalled operating system. Don't install anything that can have some negative influence to this game or additional applications, codecs or something similar.
Test it please and let us know if the problem persists.
When you want to watch movies on TV at first switch to the TV and then start DVD player.

Premiere Elements 11 says display drivers are incompatible

When I start Premiere Elements 11 there is an error message saying:
"We have detected an incompatible display driver. To get a better and faster playback performance, please update your display driver. Display driver details: NVIDIA Corporation - GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 4.4.0"
And when I click Ok the program continues to load but then the computer freeze and a hard reboot must be done.
I have the latest display drivers and had not updated anyting between the last time Premiere worked and the first time it did this.
I found some solution saying to delete a file called "Baddriver.txt" but the file is no where to be found.
I have uninstalled the display drivers and installed the latest one again, I have also uninstalled and installed Premiere again. I cant update Premiere since it freezes the computer and I can do anything in it.

For the video card...Start button, and, in the Search field above the Start button, type in Device Manager. Look to the top of that left column and click on Device Manager to open it. In the Device Manager go to Display Adapters and see what is listed under that...one or two entries and what name(s) do you see listed for video card?
For Folder Option...Start button, and, in the Search field above the Start button, type in Folder Options.
Look to the top of the left column and click on Folder Options to open the Folder Options dialog. In the Folder Options dialog, click on the View Tab. Next scroll down until you find "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" and make sure the is a dot next to it to select it.
Before all this, always good to assure that you have the last video card driver version according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card.
Please let us know if you need any further information or need clarification on anything written.

The MacBook's hard drive lacks the necessary hardware drivers to boot the MacBook Pro even though it has a much newer OS on it; that's why simply moving it into the Pro doesn't work. Presumably you have a very old MB Pro, because only the very first MB Pro model (produced January to May 2006) was ever offered with an 80GB hard drive. Are you sure you want to move your big drive into such an old machine? The MacBook must be newer, because the first MacBook was introduced just as the first Pro model was discontinued.

I recently bought windows multipoint server 2012 from Microsoft which comes with windows 8. I am having trouble with installing display drivers from my computer's manufacturer. The display device is Intel (R) G45 express chipset. Intel only supports
windows 7 and when I try to troubleshoot it's compatibility, the driver still does not work. I get an error notifying me that my computer does not meet the minimum requirements. My computer system is 64 bit and the drivers I download are meant
for 64 bit systems, I am currently using Microsoft basic display adapter and when I try to automatically update the driver it says that the drivers are up to date

I had the most up-to-date Intel driver installed, as far as Windows can determine (right click Intel display adapter -> update drivers, search automatically). I was also using that exact download you linked me to.
I also tried switching my graphics card to dedicated discrete mode in BIOS, which made my device ID change, but it too was not supported. I have since managed to reinstall the old drivers from 2010.
Is there some place I can go to download a more recent version of the Intel drivers than Windows can find automatically?

Premiere cc 2014 crash with message "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please update your video display drivers and start again."

I updated to Premiere Pro CC 2014, all the other Adobe CC 2014 software works great, but Premiere doesnt even load. The starting page (frame) comes up - my whole computer slows down and after a minute or two it crashes completely and comes up with the message : "Adobe Premiere Pro could not find any capable video play modules. Please go to the following location and rename the folder to old_folder name
User/user library/Application Support and rename Adobe folder
User/user library/Preferences and rename the Adobe folder
Then go to Documents folder and Go to Adobe/Premiere pro/8.0 and rename 8.0 folder
Make sure that you are in user library if you are not sure check the link below.

I need version 162.0 or higher.
On Nvidia Web-Site is the new 167.0 beta, but does it work with my system?

The Toshiba graphic drivers on the Toshiba European driver page are not the same like the original graphic driver from the graphic card manufacturers.
Therefore you cannot compare the driver version numbers!
Generally the graphic driver which appears on the Toshiba page is the newest Toshiba driver.
