[SOLVED] VLC no audio, Volume stuck at 0%-5% only when playing FLV
Hello Friends,
I've had this issue for a while, only on one laptop (I run Arch on everything)... VLC will play my .FLV files, video works, playback works but no sound. The volume gets stuck and can only be changed by 5% (If VLC was running before and volume was at 60% I can change to 65 and back to 60. If VLC was closed and I open a FLV file it is always at 0% volume and will only go up to 5%).
I get the following error every time I try to adjust the volume.. Other file-types work fine.

EDIT: I have concluded that this must've been the FLV files itself. They were downloaded using FireFox plugin VideoDownloadHelper

Thanks for the reply. I tried playing with detaching the audio in iMovie, but with 20+ hours of video to correct, it would take too long. After 28 hours, Corel/Roxio tech support replied that it is a known bitrate mismatch problem and they have no real fix. I strongly suggest not to buy this product.

iPhone 4 does not support FaceTime over cellular, only Wi-Fi.

I had this problem, too. It was on my phone, though, but it seems to be a problem that many people have.
I have fixed it. It cost me 99 cents.
My phone said I had 247 photos/videos. Itunes said I had 1700+. Both said that Photos & Video were taking up 10.8 GB of storage.
On my phone, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan
I selected the 20GB plan for $0.99 a month
Then, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Photos
I enabled My Photo Stream (slider to the right/green)
Then, I got on WiFi. I don't know how long it took, certainly not long enough to upload gigabytes of data, but I saw that my Photos & Camera app was using a far more reasonable amount of storage (1.3 GB, rather than 10.8 GB). I checked this by going to
Settings --> General --> Usage --> Manage Storage
Because I don't want the 20GB iCloud plan, I went back to
Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan --> Downgrade Options (at the bottom)
... and I selected the 5 GB Free plan again.
Now for a little rant.
I am very unhappy that I had to give Apple one thin dime to have this fixed. After spending a couple of hours trying to figure out why I can barely use any storage on my phone, I had to pay to fix it. Ridiculous.
I still enjoy using Apple products, but I enjoy using them less and less over time. Not only is every release of iTunes less usable than the previous one, the last one wouldn't even install on my machine. That was about another six hours lost trying to figure out the problem. -

i think this problem is from itunes because of i try to use many apps, i can shut down imac very fast . But only when i just only open itunes and immediately shut down.... my imac stuck on the gray screen with the small wheel at least 12 hours. Anyone can help me please.

Audio missing from part of final dvd when played in dvd player.
IT IS CRUNCH TIME! I'm creating a yearbook. The first eight chapters (Dedication, Staff and class portraits) do NOT have audio when I play the burned dvd in my player, although 2 submenus (Sports and Activities) do have audio. iDVD is updated to 6.0.3.

I had students create music on Garage Band and they are in aiff. stored on iTunes on the Hard Drive, which has 41.1 GB available. Running Quicktime 7.1.6. The killer is that my movie runs fine with music on all scenes on the computer and only the first portion (Scenes 1-7) has no music when I play the burned DVD in the player at home. (Tried other DVD players, too) I did the entire burning process twice thinking that the encoding would solve the problem. No such luck.
I noticed in the DVD troubleshooting guide about audio that 6.0.1 solved the problem. If I have 6.0.3, does that mean that 6.0.1 is included, or should I download that software update?
Sorry, I'm a novice with technology and the school tech support for my k-8 school is limited.

Audio and video are not in sync when playing movies in iTunes
I have downloaded several movies from the iTunes store, and also ripped two digital copy discs into my iTunes library. When I try to play them, the audio is not in sync with the video. Very frustrating when you see the characters lips move, then about a second or two after, you hear what they were saying.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am running most current version of iTunes, and QuickTime.I have looked a little bit more, and it seems as though the video is lagging behind, not the other way around. Video seems choppy, but the audio is playing perfectly. Music Videos are suffering from the same problem as well. Also, when I sync to my iPod Touch 16GB, audio & video match up perfectly.
I still have no idea how to fix this. Please help. -
1st gen ipad stuck on apple logo only when on charge
I have an iPad that got wet in the rain, when I brought it in it still worked ( i pressed the home button and the homepage came up with all the apps) so I quickly dried if off and put it in the airing cupboard for 6 days, now when I plug it in to the mains with the charger the apple logo comes up for about 15 secs then disappears then comes back on after about another 30 secs and this keeps happening and won't go any further and when I unplug it and link it to my apple laptop nothing happens at all it nothing happens at all (doent show the apple logo or charging logo) i dont think its taking any charge please let me know if anyone knows how to fix x

Fans stuck at full speed, only when charger is plugged in
I just had my logic board replaced under warranty, and I have a strange new symptom. Whenever my AC adapter is plugged in, the fans are screaming at 6,000 RPMs. The temp is only 97F. When I unplug the computer, the fans drop to 3,000 RPMs.
I already tried resetting SMC and PRAM... Any other suggestions?Have you tried running the extended version of the Apple Hardware Test? It sounds as if there might be a thermal sensor problem, although I don't know why the fans would spin at maximum only under AC power.
In any event, the thing to do is to report the problem to whoever did the work. I suspect a thermal sensor may not have been properly located or may not be well seated on the logic board. It shouldn't take too long to determine what the problem is and fix it.

[SOLVED] Random crashes when playing videos on Atom J1900 / Intel HD
Hi,
Following my first thread (which has been gladly solved, finally), I'm still getting stuck on the "crashes when playing videos" thing.
FIY here are the specs, copied from my original thread:
I've just bought a Gigabyte Brix to be used as an HTPC. The exact model is GB-BXBT-1900.
I've installed 4 GB of 1.35V RAM (Corsair CT51264BF160B), which is supported by this model, and a Kingston SSD (V300 60GB).
Then of course, I've installed Arch x64 with a base system and Xorg with DE (Xfce).
It can happen after 2 or 50 minutes (it rarely goes beyond this limit), mainly when using VLC, but I could reproduce the same behavior with SMPlayer or even Kodi: the display freezes and I can no longer move the cursor, use the keyboard (to change TTY for example) or access the machine remotely. I'm forced to press the power button for 5 seconds and boot again.
No sign of any warning in the logs, no high temperature on any sensor, nothing that could help me find what to blame. The wired keyboard attached does not show blinking LEDs so I'm assuming it's not a kernel panic.
The thing is, those crashes happen *only* when playing videos. Otherwise the machine is extremely stable and can stay up and running for days or weeks without a crash. But if you play a video on it, be prepared to reboot within the next half-hour.
So I'm assuming this has something to do with the display driver, or its configuration. I did not change anything to the default one, just added "intel_pstate=disabled" to the boot command line as advised in another thread, but it didn't help.

I did use the trik on a custom kernel, i do have freeze (none tomoroy but two today but only on using firefox, so may be another probleme (sna)) but not on video (well i had run 15 video same time, and two where running 2 hours after without crash). May be you should try it (i think it work better).

[Solved] VLC-Pulseaudio Volume Problem
Hello,
my problem is the following (using VLC, Pulseaudio, KDE).
If I change the volume in VLC, this volume setting with stick to the system audio settings even after VLC is closed. Example, I set the volume to 200% in VLC, the system volume will also stay set to 200% (you cannot see this, it will show 100% but actually it isn't) and audio in other programs will become weak quality while playback.
To solve this problem I have to touch the system audios setting slider and it will jump to the correct setting. Even VLC itself will stick to the previous now 'wrong' audio when I choose the setting inside VLC to put the volume setting at each start to 100%.
i guess it has something to do with VLC, because other video and audio players doesn't produce this problem.
I found a post from before who had a similar issue, but it did not help me.

Audio volume is always maximum at start
I upgraded to Mac OS X Lion from Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
Before the upgrade when I reboot Mac OS X the audio volume is at the same level I left before.
Now when Mac OS X Lion starts, the audio level is always at maximum.
I think this is a little bug of the new OS.
