SOLVED! WAN Miniport #2 yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager

This topic is to collect some information, if someone has any, about the WAN miniport #2 virtual device in Windows 8
There are many complaints but so far there has been no resolution to the problem.
Just as a heads up, since it windows doesn't allow you to uninstall it I tried to delete it through registry and lost the ability to see any networks while the hardware itself was recognized and working.
EDIT: The **bleep** thing is out! Had to call excorcist in jk..
Anyway, I want kudos for this, now.

FIne gentleman who runs it had a tip waiting for us, summary is below:
To do this, DO NOT edit the registries. There are number of other registry keys that depend on the miniports being present, and it is super easy to completely break the network stack, to a point where the base network card driver won’t work. (If you did this already, let’s hope your system has restore points — you can restore to previous snapshot and try doing it the non-registry way outlined there.) When doing this, take a note of the miniports that you are removing, you’ll need to know this later when reinstalling.
So, to remove each non-working miniport, do the following:
    Right click on the non-working miniport, choose “Update Driver”.
    Choose “Browse my computer”.
    In the next window, choose “Let me pick driver from a list”.
    Uncheck “Show compatible hardware”. From the “Manufacturer” list, choose “Microsoft”, and from the “Network Adapter” list, choose “MAC Bridge Miniport”. (It can be any device the user is allowed to uninstall.) *here I chose the first entry, Generic Broadband device driver.
    Back in the device manager, delete the device that just turned into the “MAC Bridge Miniport” device.
Once done removing the bad miniports, reboot. Don’t skip this, it’s important. Otherwise there is a change things will go bad again.
And it works!!! Rebooted two times just to be sure.

I'm glad you've found a solution, however, when I go inte the Network Adapter List, I do not have the option of choosing "MAC Bridge Miniport" there is no such miniport. Does anyone have an alternative I can use? Or is there some other way to Solve this problem? I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530.

Ipad wont sync and exclamation point in device manager

I cannot get my ipad to sync with my new computer. There is an exclamation point in the device manager by this device and I dont know what it means. I do not want to uninstall itunes and reinstall as I am afraid I will lose all the music I have put in there......What does this message mean??

Thanks , for responding .I am using windows7 and I have uninstalled the dvd drive and restarted the pc numerous times .When i try to update the driver through windows it does'nt work.I have downloaded all the software for my toshiba L300 from the toshiba website and everything works fine, but Toshiba only provides firmware for the pioneer dvd rom not the driver .
I can't find the correct driver anywhere without having to pay for it .The problem is that my dvd rom was working fine and suddenly it showed the exclamation mark in device manager and shows it as cd instead of dvd ..

App Catalog ERROR "The action could not be completed. Try again later" Yellow exclamation mark

Hello, I have problem with access to App Catalog, when i try to access to App Catalog it's give error "The action could not be completed. Try again later" with yellow exclamation mark. I tried to make partial erase, I made full erase, I made Secure erase, but all these steps not helps.
I renew my firmware with latest webOSDoctor, but still nothing. Then I changed my Palm Profile, I create new one, but still NOT WORKING!
I checked all connections 3G and Wi-Fi, everything is ok, but App Catalog still not working.
So, I contacted with Palm Support, I told about this issue and I send them Quick Log and Log

Honestly saying, the problem I had already a week, I tried to solve it on their own, but all my attempts were unsuccessful, I am sure that this problem is not related to what some of my actions, cause I never made any manipulations with phone.
I really appreciate the attention rendered by the support services, I just need that everything works fine.
I am sure that this is some sort of a strange problems, I have long been searching for an answer in the Internet came on similar way problems have other users.
I received today a update notice for App Catalog, I saw that HP Palm updated App Catalog, I updated my App Catalog, check again, but still nothing changed, same problem "The action could not be completed. Try again later" with yellow exclamation mark.
So, I will wait for a few days, will see what's happening.

T61 - No sound - Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus with yellow exclamation mark

Hi,
I am not sure when it started but suddenly my T61 has no audio/sound. I checked the Device Manager and did see the Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus with yellow (big) question mark with yellow exclamation mark superimposed on it. I downloaded, from Lenovo Support site, the 7ka114ww.exe , hoping to fix it by un-install that device, reboot it, and re-install using the download exe file, but to no avail.
Any suggestion or help is really appreciated. Many thanks in advance
PS. I also see the Base System Device pop up after a reboot and ask to be installed ?!? That pop-up had been there for a while before the audio/sound was lost.

Hi Maliha,
I followed your instruction to execute the exe file under C:\Drivers. After that, I rebooted the system and no more error pop up for the missing audio device. I checked the Device Manager and the Audio Device on High Definition Audion Bus disappeared and the SoundMax was shown. But again, still no sound. I clicked on TroubleShooting on that SoundMax and followed that instruction. I found out the default Sound device was erroneously pointed to BlueTooth. I made the change to SoundMax and voila ... the sweet ding sound came back.
That was a wonderful feeling to be able to fix this nagging problem that my company HelpDesk could not help me. All thank to this forum and particular Maliha. Again, my appreciation to the valuable help.

Satellite A60-S1591ST: yellow exclamation marks in the device manager

Hi,
Recently I formatted C: and installed XP professional. But after the installation, there were several problems.
First, in device manager, there are big yellow marks in SM BUS Controller, Video Controller (VGA Compatible).
How can I fix these?
Second, when I scroll down screen side bar to read or see some contents down in a certain site, my screen is so sensitive and waves simultaneously with moving or clicking of the scroll bar. Is it related with above devices?
My notebook is Toshiba Satellite A60-S1591ST, XP pro with SP2
I don't know how to recognize the model of motherboard

The problem can be solved very fast the yellow exclamation appears in the device manager because you didnt install the necessary drivers.
So you will now ask for the driver page ;) Am I right?
Well this is a Toshiba US notebook I think so ;)

Q: Is there a way to place an image at 100% without having to do that extra resizing step?
I think here you want your images to fit in the full page size frame automatically. For this you can try the follwoing steps:
1. Create a new doc
2. Goto Object menu and choose Frame fitting options
3. Select Autofit and from Fitting drowdown, select "Fit content to frame". Refer the screenshot below:
After this you images should automatically fit in the entire page placeholder frames. Please let me know if this does not work or if the problem you are facing is different and I did not understand your problem correctly.

Clients losing Connections yellow exclamation mark still associated

We are having intermittent issue where clients just lose connectivity, they stay associated to the access point but get a yellow exclamation mark.

After I made the changes there are no errors in the debug just clients stops working with yellow exclamation mark, cannot reach default gateway.
We also recently enabled Rogue policies auto contain rogue on wire and Using our SSID.

Okay... well at least its not the WLC code or AP tht is an issue. RLDP whould only be used on monitor mode access points, When used with access points that serve clients, the AP when detecting a rogue, will drop all associated clients. The AP's will do rogue detection anyways, so no need enable RLDP.

Yellow exclamation mark in references: What does it mean

In my c# project, i have references to c++/cli and native c++ projects under "references". (i need to have them there, in order to be able to use msbuild on my solution from the command line.). all of these projects have yellow exclamation marks overlayed
to the "reference" symbol. (vs 2010). i can't find any explanation what these symbols are supposed to tell me.
any ideas ?

I think this behavior is a warning to user that the native dll referenced by C# project is not supported there.
And I cannot say if it is by design or just a bug, would you mind sharing the connect link here, so that others could see and vote on it?
In addition, for msbuild issue, you may try MSbuild forum for better suggestions/workaround.

Yellow exclamation mark

Yesterday when opening pictures in Camera raw a yellow exclamation mark started appearing on the upper right corner. This doesn't let me use Adjustment brush as the yellow exclamation mark appears every time I pick the brush and start using it on the picture. It's been like that for two days now. Any ideas?

I did try doing the ‘Purge Cache' now, but it's still the same.
With Ctrl +K you get the normal cache for preview and thumbs and that is not the same as the Camera Raw Cache.
Under the menu Bridge you will find just above the bridge Preferences the Camera Raw Preferences (at least, on a Mac) and in this window you find the option to clear the Camera Raw Cache, did you try that one?

IMovie Yellow Exclamation Mark - What's missing?

I have movies that I updated from iMovie 09. When loading the Project, in the Timeline, I see the title in the middle with a yellow exclamation mark. I'm not sure why this is there. I initially had music missing with red and some files missing for some Projects, but I fixed everything. It still shows the yellow exclamation mark. When I hover over it, nothing happens. I have an image of what it looks like. What am I missing from the Project?

thanks for pointing me in the right direction Edwin. The problem was that I changed the name of the method after the def-file for the method has been created the first time. JDEV did not update the contents of this file (and/or the DataBindings.cpx). So the method name was wrong and I got errors running my test app.
I removed the task flow completely and set up a new one which is working as expected.

for me it looked like I couldn't call the method defined as default action. I got errors (which I didn't read carefully) stating the the method was missing (something like ...#[bindings....} not found). My conclusion was that the exclamation mark in the diagram stating that bindings is unknown was the cause.
The real cause of the problem I described above.

Ibook suddenly marks photos with yellow exclamation mark

Hi,
I have created several photo albums and had them published. I have always chosen my photos carefully to avoid the yellow exclamation mark. One of my projects was started several months ago and left untouched for a long time. When I went back to the project more than 50% of the photos were now marked with exclamation marks. Then I looked at books that I have finished and had published, and they too have exclamation marks on some photos. I went to a local Apple Store and the "geniuses" were stumped. Any ideas on what may have caused this spontaneous mutation...and how I can fix it?

ITunesHelper Login Item - Yellow Exclamation Mark

Hey people!
I was checking my login items and saw that next to the iTunesHelper there was a yellow exclamation mark... It said that "this item could not be found"... I upgraded my OS to Mountain Lion and it is a bit slow.. You think this could be a contributing factor?

It's old. Remove it.
If you go into you iTunes settings, the checkbox to have it open iTunes when you attach a phone or ipad is what causes it to be placed in the login items.

Hello Aperture experts: I've just started using Aperture and am designing a book. Certain images I've chosen are posted on the layout page with a yellow exclamation mark in the corner. I get it that Aperture is trying to warn me about something, but what? Does anyone know? Thanks.

What are the pixel dimensions of the photo and what is the size you are printing it?
Depending on your personal quality expectations you may find that if you are close you will be ok - i often print photos with the warning knowing that it is my risk
Basically you should have at least 180 dpi to avoid a warning - so a full page 8.5 x 11 print requires a photos of 1530 x 1980 or larger - and remember that if you zoom the photo that reduces the dpi

LAN on SysTray has a Yellow Exclamation Mark

So I read through most of the articles on this forum about this topic with no luck...tried installing latest drivers, registry settings, oh and my favorite reboot (really), but seriously this is an issue dating backing to Vista with no "REAL"
solution..Microsoft get off your butts and fix the issue...even though I have connectivity it says no Internet Access...which is false, because I do. The problem is it affects our internal SharePoint sites...all the computers with out the issue work fine and
all the ones that do fail...so I am looking for a solution to eliminating the random exclamation mark once and for all...we use the same image on thousands of machine and the issue is random...any thoughts or want to share in the frustration??

Meanhwile, if you have multiple network adapters\profiles in the system, then I suggest remove unused one if possible, test this issue again.
Temporarily turn off firewall and anti-vius software, test this issue.
