Solved WiFi issue - Hope it works for you. If not, sorry.

Hey, I know about your problem. I've been a Windows person for fifteen years and bought a MacBook Pro about eight hours ago and same problem. Been researching it for eight hours and got it to work. I don't know much, but you can try this and maybe it'll work. Plug your notebook into a cable ethernet connection (automatically connects and then go to network preferences (right by the battery indicator). Surf the web and just make sure you are actually connected via cable. If so, click ethernet in network preferences and then click advanced. You should see a bunch of taps, but click DNS and then you should see two sets of DNS servers. Write them down. Click okay and then disconnect cable (replug if you don't have an extra line). Clicka airport and then settings and then DNS servers. Add the two sets of numbers you just saw and then click apply. Enable your AirPort and now it should work. Hope this works. Thanks for posting Marcus. This may help, but I've noticed many cable providers do not provide the DNS addresses by default.
We had had three different cable providers at home over the past eight years and none "fed" DNS info automatically. One of those providers would give you the numbers if you called about a problem but otherwise felt it to be unnecessary for the masses to have them.
The LAN/WAN sysops where I worked also had to dole out DNS numbers manually. We were spread across three facilities up to six miles apart and some of the remote locations needed DNS entered for best performance. Still, we had to call someone to get them.
So, yes, it can help--no, many people cannot get these numbers without calling their ISP. Even then, they may not get them depending on the support tech who picks up the phone that day. It will vary by ISP.
Keep up the experimenting as it benefits the whole community. If someone has to make a support call to try your DNS solution, so be it. It might be well worth the call. You theory certainly fits with DNS info I got from my sysops when I was working; they manually entered DNS addresses for physical locations that had trouble maintain server contact.

    First of All Creative - It's sad, really sad that you really haven't supported your customers. As such a big maker of excellent products, I'm disappointed to know that you have barely provided driver support to your customers. I've been buying Creative products since 1997 - Also - I purposely upgraded my sound card on my Hp Media Center to an Audigy 2 ZS. Secondly - I formatted my computer and re-installed Vista. Before that, the sound card i.e. the sound worked fine (after a lot of trial and errors with different drivers, i somehow managed to get it working without Snap, Crackle and Pop Issues. In other words, I experienced distorted playback when I first installed Vista. Now that I re-installed Vista - Everything installed but as usual - only issue: Yup, you guessed it right.
    Creative Audigy 2 ZS Infamous Snap Crackle Pop (SCP) I did try k_daniels drivers and even though I applaud for his efforts - unfortunately it didn't work for me but i'm sure they would if you did the following - ) Uninstall all Creative Drivers Using Driver Sweep2) Do not install the driver through Windows Update (did not work for me)3) Install latest drivers from Creative or K_Daniel's Package4) Install Vista Codec Pack5) Install DirectX06) Then do the following: Got this sorted. Hope it works for everyone..found the answer searching Google.
    Right click VOLUME icon in taskbar
    Click PLAYBACK DEVICES
    Right click SPEAKERS
    Click PROPERTIESClick ADVANCED Make sure there's no tick marks in any of the options there including ENHANCEMENTS.
    This should sort it. [After doing all this, I have no sound issues whatsoever - Crystal Clear Audio Quality but still not better then XP] I am planning to try K_Daniels pack with all the extra applications and I'll post later on in regards to my experience with the pack. Good Luck P.S: Hope this helps somebody because doing all that helped me get back the audio clarity I was looking for without any distortion whatsoever.

    Im not using a decoder, only an amplifier alone with two speakers ... My cable is plugged in line out , and then plugged on line in of the amplifier.
    The distortion is very audible, in HL 2, Battlefield 2, etc
    When got a explosion, a shot from shotgun, missile, the sound comes distorted ...
    Any more hints?

    First of all IT IS GREAT and I use it a lot I also used the CS4 version before!
    But I have to report two issues about version CS5:
    1. I bought the English version of the production premium CS5 but I have a German operating system (win7 64bit) all other adobe application are in English except Adobe Media Encoder it shows up in German language! Not a show stopper but should be fixed.
    2. Recently I wanted to encode a video into an h264. I made some custom settings for that and the encoded video played very stuttered in Microsoft Media Player 12 (like 12fps instead of 25fps [settings were set correct in AME]) but fine in Quicktime and VLC Player (execpt for the gamma bug but that's an other story...)
    I did a lot of testings and found the issue! Sometimes when you change a lot of the h264 settings (don't know when it happens exactly) Media Encoder seems to not set the fps correctly allthough AME shows 25fps in it's settings this setting is not encoded into the final file!
    Quicktime and VLC seems not to care about the missing information but Windows Media Player gets confused.
    It does not happens when using a preset in AME it only happens when changing a lot and using custom settings!
    You can see the missing fps setting when right clicking the encoded file and choose properties (german:Eigenschaften) switch the tap to Details and there is no fps setting in the stuttering files but when encoded with a preset in AME there is the correct 25fps setting!
    I have attached a screenshots to demonstrate it:
    My workaround so far was to choose a preset with 25fps and close to my desired settings and change as few as possible - Fingers crosses and with a chance of 3/4 I was able to encode a working file containing the fps setting in it which plays perfect in Microsoft Media Player!
    I hope you take a look into this issue because if you have a long file and you have to encode it again because it fails....... uiuiui

    Basically:
    Premiere Pro does not want to play the timeline (or the source window) anymore.  Sometime it plays for 2 minutes, sometime for 2 seconde and then stops, but most of time, it wont play at all.
    I can scroll over my timeline (no sound scrolling), but when I hit space bar (or clic on the play button) I can see the play button turning into a square (which mean it's now the stop button), but the timecodes doesn't run and the image doesn't play.
    So I suggest people to not being stupid as I was and to wait before to update... And hope a solution to come soon.

  • Does BT Openzone work for you?

    I live in Central London and work in the City so I often find that my iPhone has connected to BT Openzone or The Cloud if WiFi is on.
    The reason I usually discover this is that it is taking an age to download something or to move to the next page in Safari. I usually have to switch off WiFi in order to get the much faster connection I can get in 3G.
    There is Cloud WiFi at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium and that appears occasionally on the phone but I can never get any downloads during a match via Cloud or 3G.
    All in all, it seems to me that the public wi-fi connection to the iPhone is useless and the only useful such connection is a personal/corporate one.
    What are other people's experiences? Am I doing something wrong?

    Yes, has worked for years. And while I don't use it very much, I just checked, still works fine.
    Have you gone into the Menu on the DVR and set up the FiOS TV Remote DVR dialog? If not, you need to do so. You will need to set up a Parental Control PIN to access the dialog if you have not done so.
    Menu ==> Settings ==> FiOS TV Remote DVR ==> Web Access ==> and enable it (at least that is what I remember you had to do at that point)

    I have an issue related with default search people in SharePoint 2013. When I search my own profile the result shows my profile (so far, good) but you can see:
    Put your profile to work for you                                            
    Number of searches that led to you:
    0 times last month
    0 times last week                                                     
    Last updated: Yesterday at 6:14 PM
    When I click to "Put your profile to work for you" I can edit my profile and save it but the message that I've written before always is showing when I search
    my own profile. Someone knows what have I do to doesn't show it? (Because is not truth, my profile have been searched more than 0 times).

    Hi Victor,
    The "Number of searches that led to you" section should be "Self search" info searched by others per the following article.

    The update content should be crawled by Search crawler, then it would be queried and searched, you need to start a incremental crawl or a full crawl on user profile, then test again.

    ok so i hear alot of people use brasso to get rid of scratches and others say it doesnt. i talked to people at best buy and they said it wouldent but then again.....it's best buy. that being said. what has worked for you or worked best? cus my screen is scratched and when i watch videos i can just barely see where they are and it bugs me . thank you.

    a pole? i believe i was asking what works to get rid of scratches lol i wasent asking what everyones fave was i was asking what works so i dont putt brasso on my ipod not knowing what it will do and it turns the screen into a murky lake.

    I have a Lenovo R61 laptop with intel chipset, and i used to use xf86-video-intel-git from aur :

    since last week it needed packages from new xorg. I installed new xorg from testing, build it and when i installed i could not use x. When i roll back to 2.9 from testing everything is fine.
    Does the git driver work for you or is it broken for some chipsets(can't really remember of mine right now)?

    It sounds to me like either one of two things happened to you mechmg93. Either some incompatibility crept in with the new X server or your configuration became obsolete. Either way I think that this discussion is better with others that have [testing] enabled. Moving.

  • MythArchive. Does it work for you?

    I have mythtv setup and everything working for me except this piece.  I've been fighting this for some time.  At first mytharchive simply would not start.  I outputted to a log and it said that the output to dvd had not been compiled in.  This was from the prebuilt packages in the Arch repos.  So I downloaded the source and compiled.  Then I was able to select what I wanted to archive and all, but it gave me errors when it actually got to the transcoding portion.  Some unknown variable name, sorry I've forgotten the exact because its been awhile.  So finally I decided to download the source for everything and compile that.  Well I can't get mythplugins to compile, because of unknown variable errors during the make.  At this point I have surrendered.
    My question is simply this.  Does it work for you with the latest releases?  How did you install?  Arch Packages?  Compiled from source?

    I had to get it working by compiling it myself i.e. using the mytharchive PKGBUILD, putting it in an empty directory and running makepkg.

    I can only apply it on an existing stroke but can't draw a new one with the selected profile. In fact if I change the profile to other than the default Uniform I also can't draw a new stroke with any other width than the default 1 point. This doesn't seem normal.
    Using SC5 on a PC.

    Another question on the same topic.
    Once I add a new profile to the list is it possible to put it on top of the list. I need this because the Adobe people decided to put the list in a tiny scrollable window with only a few of the first profiles showing. If there is noting in the interface may be I have to modify some program files settings?

    I installed it over the weekend after seeing it mentioned in my RSS feed and have been using it heavily for a few days. The updater launched from within AE did not find the update. I had to go to the download page that was linked to in the feed. Installed from that download with no problem on Windows 7.
    AE 10.0.1. has crashed on me twice over the weekend. Both times I was scrubbing through a composition that uses a pretty intense plug-in (Video Gogh). I would submit a bug report to Adobe or the plug-in developer, but the problem has not been repeatable. Also, an AE composition dynamically linked to PPro may have made PPro crash. I wish I could give more details on that but I was, as usual, trying to do too many things at one time.
    Other than that, everything went smoothly during many hours of compositing in AE.

  • How is the New Forum Structure Working for You?

    Just wanted to ask how the breakout of CS5 and then other PrPro/Pr versions is working for you.
    Though not all that warm to the idea, I have to say that it seems to be working nicely. I have seen few posts in the wrong spots, though some might be better suited for Hardware.
    My fears have NOT been realized, so I am glad that the powers that be never consulted me, as I would probably have turned thumbs down. Early observations indicate that I would have been wrong.
    What do you think?

    I believe if you updated your Apple TV, you need iTunes 11 to make it work.
