[SOLVED] X can start after computer crash

My computer crashed and restarted it self when were using GNOME 3,
and no I can't start X anymore. It says:
Fatal server error:
no screens found
From the Xorg log file I found:

Humm, the update was published 20 minutes before my post,
the update should have been fetched by
pacman -Syyuu
pacman -S `pacman -Q | cut -d ' ' -f 1`
But I system update now fixed the problem instantly.

You need to uninstall PSE before you can reinstall it. It sounds like you didn't properly remove it. Use control panel in windows. PSE for windows doesn't do repair installs.

Can I restore music from my ipod to computer after computer crash?

My computer crashed and all information including all ipod music is gone. It is still on my ipod ... can I download from my ipod to the computer or do I need to reinstall all music and downloads? I am not computer savy so answer in simple words please! Yes, I am past my warranty period too.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your computer and an empty iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up in case you have problems again. External drives are comparatively inexpensive these days and you can get loads of storage for quite a small outlay.

Can't register my CS4 after computer crash

My old computer crashed and I got a new computer. I installed CS4 from the origional discs and it will not let me register. It says I have an invalid serial number. The discs were an upgrade from an older version of Flash when I bought it a couple years ago.

On 2/19/2009 i bought an upgrade from Flash Studio (I don't know the version number) to Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium. I upload the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium on my computer from the discs I received, it found the Flash suite and confirmed the update and the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium all worked.

There is not a Flash Studio listed and when I enter the serial number from the Flash Studio I had saved it did not accept it. I ended up using the option to use it for a trial period. It worked just fine for the trial period on my new computer. That time is now up and I can no longer access any of the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium programs. In need to know how I can get i registered andt working.

Can't reimport some music after computer crash

I am unable to re-import some of my music following a computer crash. One or 2 albums won't import because it says is can only import unprotected wma files. The album that I am trying to re-import that is giving me the error WAS PURCHASED FROM THE ITUNES STORE several years ago!!!!! I have had several computer crashes over the years, and I have all my music backed up, but every time I reload Itunes and re-import my music, I lose a few albums or songs. Try double clicking on them in iTunes and see what happens. If I'm not mistaken, a dialog box hould pop up saying that the songs are not authorized for the computer or something along those lines. You will need to go to the iTunes account area and log in (you may have this option in the dialog box that may pop up). I'm sorry, it's been awhile since I needed to authorize a computer for my songs.

My computer crashed and has recently been reformatted and unfortunately itunes has been deleted. I don't have my itunes backed up anywhere but i did manage to retrieve it when a similar thing happened a couple of years ago. Unfortunately the link is now outdated so i wonder if someone can send me information or instructions on how to reload my itunes library from my ipod.

Restoring iTunes after computer crash

One day, I hooked my iPod up to my computer and it told me that a couple hundred songs were not authorized to play on this computer. Then it removed them from my iPod, but left them in iTunes. Those songs were every single purhcase I had ever made on iTunes.
Later that day, my computer started freaking out. I made a copy of that purchased music to CD, and a few minutes later, my computer crashed and burned.
After reinstalling Windows XP Professional, I imported the burned music into iTunes. However, when I hook up iPod to the computer, it tells me that iPod can only sync to one library at a time, and do I want it to erase everything on the iPod (all of my music that wasn't purchased at iTunes) and overwrite it with everything on my current library. I tell it no, because I don't want it to erase everything on the iPod.
So how do I get to it actually "sync" by adding what's on my iPod to my iTunes library, and what's in my iTunes library to my iPod, without having to erase everything on my iPod?

After computer crash

My computer crashed a few months ago; I lost everything and, after reinstalling everything, got on here to figure out how to get my music from my iPod to iTunes without losing my music. I got some great help and was able to transfer the music from my iPod to a file folder, then back into iTunes.
However, in iTunes my playlists aren't showing up (although they're still on my iPod) and whenever I hook up and start iTunes I get a message saying my iPod is linked to another iTunes music library. It asks me if I want to change the link to this [new] iTunes library and "replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library."
I've said no thus far...Any suggestions?? Thanks

Are you not saying "yes" for any particular reason?
Is it because you want to get the playlists back into iTunes from the iPod first?
Is so, try Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Once everything is in iTunes as you want it, you can click "yes" to that message.

Problems with Smart Album after Computer "crashed"

While working in Photoshop the cursor froze and nothing worked anymore so that I had to force the computer to shut down (while my aperture library was open). When I started the computer new. All the JPEG files that I created before were corrupt and the aperture library as well. I was working in a smart album and had about 1'000 pictures manually dragged together. When I started the library after the crash, the "custom-sort" was not functioning anymore. All pictures were sorted according to the image date. If I create a new smart album now, there is no more the possibility of "custom"-sort. Can someone please help me? Thank you very much in advance. Sarosa

Help please, my Powerbook wont start after a crash...

Any help would be much appreciated as I'm in absolute panic! My Powerbook crashed after a modem/internet error and wont restart - the little light on the front 'breathes' until you open it and then it goes out when open. The restart/power button when held down will chime, then nothing happens - no restart. No lights or anything. The battery is charging, I've also tried taking the battery off and then restarting but still nothing. Am I not doing something really obvious? Can anyone point to what has happened, or is happening? You could start in Single User Mode and do a File System Check (fsck).
Start the computer and hold down the s key until it starts.... it will be a text based interface. It should happen rather quickly.
After it is done displaying the start-up text.. you can type
fsck -f
remember the space between the k and the -
hit Return
you will have to type in your password...
It will check the disk.. and let you know if there were any errors.
If there are.. run the command again until it says "the file system is ok"
When you are done, type
reboot
then hit return
You computer should reboot.
