Problem solved! I just noticed that I hadn't check which nvidia version I was using, as the log says:
(WW) NVIDIA(0): The NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 GPU installed in this system is
(WW) NVIDIA(0): supported through the NVIDIA 96.43.xx Legacy drivers.
(WW) NVIDIA(0): Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html for
(WW) NVIDIA(0): more information. The 180.51 NVIDIA driver will ignore
(WW) NVIDIA(0): this GPU. Continuing probe...
And in fact I was using the 180.51 driver. Then I did the following:
# pacman -Rd nvidia nvidia-utils
Then:
# pacman -S nvidia-96xx nvidia-96xx-utils
And it's working now!
Thank you guys

I just got a TS140 (70A4-000HUX). After unboxing, I installed 4 x 2TB SATA HDs, attached my external USB DVD drive, configured the BIOS to boot first from the DVD drive, and inserted the EasyStartup DVD that came with the system.
The program boots fine, and then drops out to the red hat command prompt with the following message:
(EE) VESA(0): V_BIOS address 0xd00 out of range
(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration
Fatal server error:

I have tried changing the setting for the onboard VGA adapter in BIOS, but (obviously, since I'm posting this) no joy.
Not that I necessarily need this program to set up the server. But I'd like to see what it can do.
I'm also not seeing the option to press Ctrl-I to get into the Intel Rapid Storage Technology BIOS utility even though I've set the SATA controller type to RAID in the BIOS.
And it's not clear to me just what the Intel Manageability password is by default even though I can get to the prompt to login.
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.
Solved!
Go to Solution.And...
I figured it out.
Apparently, it's not a good idea to change the Boot setting to UEFI only. Can't use EasyStartup or the Intel BIOS for RAID in that mode.
I still need to figure out the Intel Management interface though. I reset it and apparently the old/default password is "admin" but it won't accept a new password. -
Xorg: Fatal server error, no screens found
Hi, I just installed Arch Linux 2010 fresh. And after my installation completed, I installed Xorg using pacman -Syu xorg-server and pacman -Syu xorg-xinit.
But when I run startx it gives me a fatal error that goes something like...
Fatal server error: no screens found
xinit: giving up
xinit: unable to connect to X Server: connection refused
xinit: server error
Take a look at this screenshot, to get the full picture..

What's wrong? what do i need to do to be able to run X?

Yes, I installed the Guest additions. I don't have xorg conf file. how do i look at vboxclient? -

I'm using an intel chipset with integrated graphics on an older computer, (old enough that I have to use kms) which worked previously, but didn't after the update. I've already enabled kms, so I ruled that out, if any of you can help, here are my logs:

With the vesa driver specified, it still gives me an error based on the extension "Record" in xorg.
Last edited by silversnakeeyes (2010-08-25 13:58:14)Crap, it didn't work. I tried with the i915 thing on through grub, and is still failed.
The bug in xorg also said that there was a bug with the module 'record' so I removed it completely and tried again, for some reason it still didn't work. With vesa as the driver, I get a black screen, which is the closest to a GUI I've seen in weeks.

Xorg fattal error - No screens found - Radeon 9200
Hello,
I cant run my X server . I changed graphics card -I put my ATI Radeon 9200 into AGP. I have ATI Radeon 9200 card in AGP slot and I have also Intel 82845G integrated graphics card. I want to use my ATI card. I installed X-server based on wiki and I installed both xf86-video-intel and xf86-video-ati and of course xorg-server, xorg-server-utils and other.
Now when I type "startx" I got nice Error:
EE - no devices detected
Fatal server Error
no screens found
Any idea how can I fix it?
I found tip that I shloud add line "Busid "PCI:#:#:#" (in my axample its PCI:3:0:0) but I dont have device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf (file is empty) so I dont know how to add this....
Adding this didnt help me... Stil the same error (no screens found).
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "radeon"
VendorName "Videocard Vendor"
BoardName "ATI Radeon 9250"
BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
Option "DRI" "true"
Option "ColorTiling" "on"
Option "EnablePageFlip" "true"
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
Option "AGPMode" "4"
EndSection
But there is one good thing. When I type "Xorg -configure" and then "X -config /root/xorg.conf.new" my X-server start but I have only black screen - no mouse etc. I use KVM because I work on 3 computer and only one Monitor. When I have used only Intel 82845G I got my X-server started but now after puting ATI RADEON 9250 I cant get start X-server.
Last edited by zaboleqqq (2011-12-22 14:36:57)Can you post the whole Xorg.log by any chance? I'd also be curious to see what dmesg looks like, but that's a *huge* wall of text. If you want to share it, drop it in a pastebin and link to it. While you're at it, maybe the output of
# lspci -v
This is also huge, so pastebin it too. This set of outputs lets us see what's installed, whether it's enabled, whether or not there's any issues when the kernel talks to it, and what driver it has picked up, if any.
I sense a hardware conflict. i know that my BIOS automatically switches off the onboard Intel graphics card when i installed my Nvidia unit, but your BIOS may not, which *could* cause a conflict, especially since you have both sets of drivers installed.

Xorg error: no screens found
Hello,
After having some problems with the glibc upgrade, I finally been able to complete the switch from /lib to /usr/lib.
Anyway, unfortunately even if now I can boot smoothly I encounter a problem after the login. Basically, after inserted username and password, selected to boot the XFCE Desktop Environment in CMD (Login Manager) I receive an error which tells me:
Check to see if you are wrapping your session with ck-launch-session or increase the timeout.
So, I've tried to boot manually typing this commands:
# xinit
# startxfce4
# startxfce4 with-ck-launch
but every time it returns me this error:

Could it be related to glibc? I think so.
Before the upgrade of glibc the system used to start smoothly, without any problem before or after the login.
I'm going to post the /var/log/Xorg.0.log in a couple of days. I want to apologise from the beginning for this inconvenient but the only other way to access the internet for me is by a BlackBerry, and I cannot imagine how to save the Xorg log in the BlackBerry for copy it and post it in the forum. Ok, I can use the BB as an USB stick, but I prefer not risk doing something I'm not able to do, whilst on Monday I can do it comfortably in a library.
If it can help, in my system is installed the package xf86-video-intel 2.20.2-2, the xorg drivers for my hardware.
Thank you for your time,

Good morning,
I've already edited the .xinitrc when upgraded to XFCE 4.10, so unfortunately it isn't the cause of the problem.

Xorg: Fatal Error: No Screens Found
I have tried to install Arch around four times now and I cannot get Xorg to work. Nothing I do will make it work. I'm using all of the proper drivers and I followed the installation instructions word for word but I cannot get it to work. not even after countless hours of research. I cannot get GDM to work either. I'm lost.

It is my understanding that a dual-card setup such as yours uses the integrated card to render the screen and uses the GPU as well when more intensive work is required.
Try installing the Intel video drivers as well -- the "no screens found" message usually means you don't have the necessary video drivers.
Alternatively, try disabling the Intel card from your firmware (BIOS) options.

how can i solve the vpn server could not be found error on my iphone 5s?
FWIW, back at work we have a Palo Alto Networks firewall and VPN. Have configured both the iPhone and the iPad with the pertinent details.
If I connect while in the premises (same LAN), connection is instantaneous and flawless.
If I connect while away, no matter which external network, the first attempt to connect ALWAYS fails with a NOT FOUND error. Yet if I try again immediately after, it ALWAYS connects with no further issues. -

Hello everyone,
I'm using weblogic 6.0 for AIX.
I'm trying to setup a new web application.
Right now, I just want to access html files, but the web server is not working
well.
I can access the file
http://myhost/myapp/index.html
but if I try to access file2.html
http://myhost/myapp/file2.html
file2.html is in the same directory, with the same permissions and I get
the 404
error message
At the beginning, I couldn't access index.html, because I created the directory
"myapp"
with user "root". Later, I changed the ownership to "wlowner" for "myapp"
directory
and for "index.html"
Then I created "file2.html" with user "wlowner", and provided the same permissions
as index.html but I can't access it.
Could someone tell what might be wrong ?
Any clues ?
Thanks,
David

Can't connect to X11 Windows Server - Error
Dear All,
Greetings!!
We had successfully installed ECC6.0 EHP7 with HANA Database on SUSE 11 SP3. Now we are in the process of upgrading the components in the ECC via SUM. When we try to start the upgrade via SUM using <SID>ADM userid in the Linux Machine, we are getting an JAVA Error like "Can't connect to X11 Windows Server". Please find the complete error log in the attached screenshot (SUM.pmg).
But when we try the same with the root userid, we can able to see the SUM GUI Opening Screen.
Please help us with suggestions or solutions at the earliest.
Regards,
ElaHello Ella,
Please follow the SUM upgrade guide for starting the SUM tool.
Start the SL controller on primary application server with command :
./STARTUP
After this, you can access the GUI from the browser :
http://<host>:4239/
Problem you described, seems to be related to variables.
Please set the variable DISPLAY for the SIDADM user.
Thanks.

And thanks for the help
Last edited by odf (2008-07-18 19:26:44)Not sure why typing 'gimp' is bringing up 'gimpshop', but anyhoo...
I just punched in 'http://mirrors.easynews.com/linux/archl … po/os/i686' into Epiphany and it 404's, so I'd assume it's down at the mo. Meantime, if you go into your mirrorlist and uncomment whichever 'Server = *' is closest to you (you could just do any of them, but the nearest ones will give you better performance) and comment out that bottom line.
All going to plan, that should sort it.

Installation - X11 window server error
Hello All,
I've been trying to install Oracle Database 10g R2 on a RHEL 4 X86_64 machine (local machine). I've installed all the necessary packages.I'm having trouble setting the Display Environment variable. I'm installing the Database as Oracle User. When I run the Installer I get the following error.
Preparing to launch Oracle Universal Installer from /tmp/OraInstall2006-11-09_02 -59-52PM. Please wait ...[oracle@server ~]$ Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused b y server

I'm able to guess that it has something to do with the Display Environment variable setting.
my hostname is server.example.com
IP is 192.168.0.155
in my bash shell file bash_profile I tried giving the following entries
1)DISPLAY=192.168.0.155:0.0
export DISPLAY
2)DISPLAY=server.example.com
export DISPLAY
Then I ran the shell script..which produced no errors...
when again when I try to install I get the error as
Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.0.155:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
I even tried xhost server.example.com...since I was only installing in the local machine and not on a remote machine.
Please Help me out on this
Regards,
Arun.vWhich user has opened the X session?
Are you logged as root and then did you "su - oracle" or are you logged as oracle directly?
If the first option is true then execute "xhost +" before execution of "su - oracle". Then as oracle use export DISPLAY=:0.0 -

unfortunately nothing is reported in the log file , please see the bottom of the message to see what's in the log file
this is all i see in the log and this is added to log when the page is loaded before i try to launch my dialog page and nothing else is added to the error i am getting. and in IE it just says page cannot be displayed and firefox reports the 500 Internal server error with the message i posted in original post
we have QA server and there i deployed the application from jdeveloper and it works Okay , but for production , production services team deployed the application using the EAR file i am giving to them and i am getting this error. ( I am providing them with the EAR file generated when i deploy the application to QA from jdeveloper)
I thought i try to deploy this to QA from ear file to see if i can reproduce the problem , so undeployed my application and tried to deploy using ear file in qa, but it never goes to step 2. it hangs on the screen uploading file ..... it never completes uploading and it does not fail with error either

[SOLVED] Air Video Server Error Message
Does anyone here have any experience with Air Video Server for Linux? I sure hope so...
I'm trying to install Air Video Server on my Arch box so I can watch movies on my iPad without using my mac or converting the video files. I got everything installed, and the server software was running. When I tried to start a video on my iPad, I got "unexpected error." So, I killed the process and started the server manually, and then tried to play a video. This is the output that I got. Maybe you can help?

It seems to me that there's a problem with creating a thumbnail. Any ideas?
Last edited by discipulus (2012-12-03 04:07:27)Alright, I have figured it out after much working! After doing some searching and realizing that no one had encountered this problem with Arch Linux before, I decided to search specifically by the error that Java was giving, instead of trying to relate it to Air Video Server. I had to edit the script that launched the daemon (/usr/bin/air-video-server) to add the option -Djava.awt.headless=true and then I needed to install an additional library (that wasn't on the dependencies list, ironically enough) fontconfig. I guess fontconfig is standard with X11, which is why it wasn't listed as a dependency. It's also why I needed to add the headless option to the launch script, because I don't use a GUI, just a CLI. This is solved, and I'll leave it up for others that may encounter similar problems.
