Not sure where exactly, but the changes you have to make have been posted here before.

Apologies for the late response. I was on vacation.
Following are the steps I followed in creating the database link. (1) Created a public database link using the SYSTEM account [used the clause USING to provide the host information] (2) Created a database link with the name same as above, using the account ACNTAPPS.
After the creation of database links, I created the package in ACNTAPPS schema where some reports are generated using the DBLINK. I also created a PUBLIC synonym for the package and granted EXECUTE privilege to PORTAL30.
Now I started creating portlets using the account PORTAL30. One portlet displays the small report, generated through the above package. Everything works fine. But sometimes when I click on LOG-OUT, I get the above error.
Is there any way I can resolve this error? Any help / hints will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Sometimes Gnome just logs out, instead of rebooting/shutting down

I'm running Gnome with GDM. I randomly have the experience that every once in a while when I select "restart" or "shutdown" from the Gnome shutdown dialogue, it just logs out intsead and returns me to the GDM login screen. I can then shutdown or reboot successfully from the login screen. It's not really a big deal. It happens a couple times a week. I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing this and/or can shed any light on it.

I'm having the same issue and still looking for a solution as it's a bit annoying for me. I've found a couple of threads about similiar problems on this forum (as well as on forums for other distros), but couldn't find a workaround. I've changed PolicyKit settings to allow anyone or just specific user to shutdown the system, but it didn't help. I've also tried to strace gnome-session and gdm, but couldn't find any clues.
Has anyone of you managed to find a workaround for this problem?

  • Why freezing (mini 2011) and how to get out from there without shutting down?

Still difficult to know why/what action/what behaviour, but why am I getting (at least once avery 4-5 hours of use, to be fair...), a hang/freeze (that kaleidoscope ball...) - sometimes with nothing special (it just happened as I was starting to write this message!...) ?
I hear people who are going for years (or at least they claim it) without a single freeze or crash wth their Mac (reason why I invested in one mini, and soon another one...).
Ok I would get it if I had 5 apps going on with 4GB of ram (still, depends which apps...). I get it with Photo Booth, I get it with Microsoft Office 2011 (a simple plain Word document), I get it surfing on Safari... So nothing very ''specific''.
And sometimes, it is the shut down that freezes.... I come up hours later or the day after and realize it had not completed shut down (still that rolling wheel on the white background).
I have all OS X (Lion) and other apps updates to date.
So, to which extent is it ''normal'' to get a crash (or is it a crash ? - when I cannot go further and there is no other way but to force shut down physically (Power button)? - And is there another way to get out from there on a Mac ? (Being a Windows user, my automatic reflex would be Ctrl+Alt+Del... when this works...)
    Thanks,
    Rob

  • G5 locks up when logging out and other concern

This has become a problem over the past year. I know that it is an old single processor, first of the Power Macs, legacy machine and OS. I have gone through all various check system/disk evolutions with Apple and TechTool Utilities.
Also, when I have a software glitch, I can never get the Send To Apple report to "send". I get a message that reads something along the line of 'not being able to connect to Apple'. Why, the legacy problem again? If so, I am suprized that I get iTunes and Safari updates.

I don't think it has anything to do with it being a "legacy" Mac.  I have a Power Mac G5, running Leopard, and it runs quite well.
Locking up when logging out is usually caused by a process that is running and the OS is not able to quit it.  It may be related to an app, or it may be a background process.  If you restart (or log out and log in) and then immediately log out, does it lock up?
As a test, you can try creating a new user account in System Preferences Accounts pane.  Log out of your usual account and log in to the new account.  Do some things you normally do, then try logging out.  Does it lock up?

  • When "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, display gets black and a weird pixelation when I move the mouse

When "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, and those X minutes pass by, my MBA logs out. After that, when I want to use it again, I found that display is totally black and if I use the touchpad, then I can start seeing "what is behind" that black screen (Login Window), like you can see on the picture:
I took it to Tech Service and they didnt find out any hardware issue. Any ideas?

I recently found out that this only happens when DISPLAY is set to go to sleep minutes before the "Log out after X minutes of inactivity". I had "Display sleep" option set to 5 minutes and "Log out after 10 minutes of inactivity" and this causes the display to go to sleep first (screen goes black) and then, 5 minutes later, it logs out.
If "Display sleep" is off and "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" is on, the issue does not replicate. So Im thinking it has something to do with the screen being black at the moment it logs out. Can you try and replicate that?
I will be checking the thread you suggested and hopefully oudgrad1764 can find a solution. Thanks a lot.

  • I get an access denied error when logging into extension builder 2.1 on Flash Builder 4.6

I get an access denied error when logging into extension builder. The error is: You are not eligible to use CSIDE1 services due to the Service Eligibility Requirements.. Very frustrating since there is no other option than to read the adobe legal docs.
Before this started happening I was prompted to put in my birthday (WHO KNOWS WHY ADOBE NEEDS MY BIRTHDAY). I filled it in wrong and now this....
    PLEASE HELP

    Ok this problem is fixed.
Info for anyone else who faces this problem.
Apparently when adobe designed the extension builder installer package, they decided to get cute and try to figure out what version of the software, the extension builder package files should be installed into. So if you have FB4, FB4.6, and FB.7 there is no telling where it will go. Also if you try moving these folders somewhere else out of the applications directory, the installer will still find them on the system. I finally figured this out by watching my system log and seeing
    11/22/13 12:13:46.258 AM cp[70909]: Cannot make directory /Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6.app
Location: /Users/myuser/Downloads/Adobe Flash Builder 4.6-adobegarbage/plugins/com.adobe.cside.ui_2.1.0.201304282312/icons: No such file or directory
After removing every single instance of places the package installer was trying to use. It finally resolved to the correct FB4.6 location. Why adobe could'nt spend a little extra time add a destination selector in the package installer is beyond me, but hey i only wasted 3 days trying to figure this out.... Sadly it isnt the first time i've wasted copius amounts of time fighting Flashbuilder problems.
Halligrimur, thank you for your help. It did lead to me solving the problem.

How can I solve the -50 error when downloading video from itunes.   The apple support people cannot even figure it out!??

The 2330 error often means some sort of damage to the filing system as might happen if the battery fell out while the disk was in use.
Try running a disk check to see if it finds and fixes any errors.

  • Help with occasional system locks when logging out or rebooting

Basically what's happening is occasionally when logging out, restarting, or rebooting from an X session, I get a total system freeze. The screen goes blank and there's no input possible. I'm not seeing anything in the logs. The card is using the xf86-video-intel driver and used to work fine with the i810 driver.
There are some similar threads around like this one:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65469
but it's still somewhat different. For me it only happens occasionally and I lose complete control of the system. This was happening when starting from GDM, and is now happening from starting either with 'exec startlxde' or 'exec ck-launch-session startlxde' (current). GDM is gone now (Hurray! Whoopy! Yahoo!)
One of the solutions listed in the above thread was to remove the vga= line from the kernel command in menu.lst. I don't have that. Another solution was to add it. I didn't try it yet. If this were the problem, wouldn't the behavior be consistent?
It's worth mentioning for a bunch of attempts yesterday I couldn't log in with startx, and I was getting a number of different errors in Xorg.0.log. Today it's working. I have no idea why; It's the same xorg.conf and same software as before.
I'm out of ideas. Got any?

I really could use some ideas with this. The machine in question isn't in my possession very often and it needs to 'just work'. I've since removed everything from lxde except for the panel and am now using a straight openbox session.
The machine only blanks when shutting down, logging out, or restarting. I do have control over the power button, so it will power off. Unfortunately this just kills it, so the file system is uncleanly mounted. Eventually this is going to kill data (if it hasn't already).
I want to reiterate that there is nothing in the logs that everyone isn't seeing with the intel drivers. I've been through countless bug trackers, as well as threads here and elsewhere. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to get this machine to close gracefully? If I can't get X/intel to play nicely, is there something I can do to get the power button to close the system properly?

  • Problems when logging out

    Hello Forum,
I just upgraded my system succesfully to 10.3.9. Everything seems to be working perfectly. Except when i try to log out. If i hit the log out button, my screen turn blue and stays blue. Nothing happens, even if i wait for a long time. It just seems to be stuck. I see a blue screen and a arrow.
If i use the shut down option, i also get a blue screen, but i also see the reassuring circle of stripes, indicating my Apple is thinking. After that is normally shutting down. The same if i use the 'restart' function.
Does anybody maybe knows what is wrong with my system and how i can fix it. Thanks already for your help.
    regards
    Paul

I've never seen the problem and haven't heard about it until your post. Since it's occurring on your lab machines, I suspect a faulty installation image. Without any details on how you deployed the image or what's installed, it's impossible to track down from here. Since the update didn't affect it, try booting in safe mode and see what occurs. You might have to reinstall the baseline Leopard version you used and slowly rebuild it.
