[SOLVED]xorg.conf, my screen doesn't fit on my screen

Hi, I've got everything set up & working well except for my screen. The desktop is too big for the monitor, about a third of it is hidden off the monitor to the bottom right. I've looked at the wiki and tried xrandr, but no dice. I'm using the VESA driver which has always worked ok in other distros. Actually the crunchbang splashscreen was like this, but otherwise it was normal. I tried the openchrome driver, got a blank screen. Searched other BBS too. I don't know the term for this problem to search for. The drivers off the VIA site are for older kernels, I'd rather just get it working with VESA, with a 1Ghz CPU I don't see myself doing much in 3D anyway.

Solved it.
It was enough to remove the display mode 1280x1024 in all screen sections.

The font size is so big my desktop doesn't fit on the screen and can't figure out how to fix it.

There solutions in the "More like this" list on the right.
If this behaviour is system wide you have to choose another reslotution in SystemPreferences/Displays.

[SOLVED]Xorg.conf, mouse config problem

The Rapoo M765 mouse can not work properly under normal mouse configuration.
The mouse goes beyond controll when config as below:

When there is no any configuration, the mouse can work abnormally. Movement and right/left click work fine, but I can not use scroll wheel,and the "go forward"&"go backward" mouse key can not work too.
(I know Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" is the configuration of scroll wheel emulation.)
The real problem is 'mouse beyond controll',the cursor goes crazyly on screen ....
I guess it is something wrong of ButtonMapping option. But when I tried to get button number from command xev,when scroll wheel scrolles, I get something below(the scroll wheel movement is identified as a key event~):

change Driver 'mouse' to Driver 'evdev',solved cursor goes beyond controll problem.
but I still can not use scroll button and 'go forward'&'go backward' button.
(BTW:evdev_drv.so is from local/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint, and local/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint package is from AUR)
I think, maybe something wrong with my button number mapping, but I still can not get scroll button number with 'xev' command....

olive wrote:In the config file you mentioned, all is commented; do you mean that you have problems when you have uncommented it? You should not use the mouse driver (old deprecated driver) but evdev. Try to remove xf86-input-mouse and xf86-input-keyboard (same as before, this is deprecated and handled by evdev) and remove also a "joystick" driver if you have it (I have had problem with it conflicting with the evdev driver).

so then I installed xf86-video-intel,
using that driver with a blank xorg.conf , I get 3 terminal windows and xclock, but my mouse and keyboard don't seem to do anything

I download xf86-video-fbdev just for fun before I saw your post, I didn't do anything as far as I could see.
I commented these lines out:

B, I didn't install any fonts but now I installed a buch of random fonts:
pacman -S ttf-ms-fonts ttf-cheapskate artwiz-fonts xorg-fonts-75dpi xorg-fonts-100dpi
and did some of what the X.org configuration wiki said:
fc-cache -fv
/usr/bin/fc-cache
/usr/bin/mkfontscale
/usr/bin/mkfontdir

HT204291 When I airplay my ipad, it doesn't fit the tv screen

I have ipad air and using toshiba tv. When I mirror the image to the tv screen, it doesn't "fit to screen". Are other people having this problem?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Mirroring won't fill the TV screen. The iPad has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the iPhone 4S or prior an aspect ratio of 3:2, neither of these will fit exactly into a TV screen which as an aspect ratio of 16:9. The Apple TV will not zoom the mirrored image, because it may well cut off information which is situated at the top or bottom of the screen.
You may wish to try each of the settings in ‘Settings > Audio & Video > Adjust for AirPlay overscan’ for the best setting that suits you.

Screen doesn't fit

Since two days, my screens don't fit anymore on my iPhone4. I can scroll (only a millimeter or two) up and down and left to right, even on the home screen!
It bothers me, because I have no clue how it happened. I shut down my phone and restarted it again, but that did not solve the problem. Also syncing with my MacBook did not resolve this.
I did install some apps in the last few days. Before I delete the last ones, I rather have professional advice on this.

Do you have zoom on? Double tap with THREE fingers to turn zoom off. Then go into Settings>General>Accessibility and turn it off for good.

Logic pro doesn't fit on my screen

I have a 13inch macbook pro 2012 and when i use logic pro x it fills the screen and part of the application is off the screen meaning i can't see all of it and there is no way that i know to make the application smaller to fit on the screen ?

This can be done by choosing 'Zoom' under the Window menu in the menu bar.

Window > Zoom.
Command and + key will zoom in.
Command and - key will zoom out.
For applications that support trackpad zoom, enable Zoom in or out in Trackpad Scroll & Zoom prefs.

My desktop doesn't fit on my screen

My desktop and any software screens will not fit on my MacBook computer monitor anymore. Mousing to the edges of the screen will cause it to slide into view while the other edges slide out of view. I've tried changing to different screen resolutions but it doesn't fix the problem. Any suggestion would be be very appreciated.

Hold down the Control-key and use your Mouse/Trackpad to scroll down at the same time.
Go to System Prfeferences the Universal Access and disable the "Zoom"-feature.
Zoom can come up when you used the Control-key plus Mouse/trackpad-scroll up.
The Zoom feature itself is enabled/disabled by Alt-Command-8
When enabled: Alt-Command-= zooms in and Alt-Command- - zooms out.

Movie doesn't fit the tv screen

Hi,
i transfered a video from my camera wide screen to my laptop using iMovieHD6. Then, i shared it to iDVD6 and burnt a dvd using Best Quality encoding. When i play it on my tv, which is wide screen, the image is cut. Anyone can tell me what to do to make it fit the TV Safe Area. I am new to the mac world i need help!

Apple tv navigation screen doesn't fit tv

I've had a problem with the ATV main navigation screen not fitting on the TV screen since the last software update a week ago. It's too big. When I stream something from netflix or watch regular tv it's fine. I assume it's some kind of screen resolution problem. I'm connecting directly from the ATV2 to a 720 flat screen. I turned it off and on, reset it to factory settings, etc and nothing's worked. Anyone else have this or know how to fix it?

except there has been occasions when the appletv has zoomed right in so you can only see a quarter of the screen.
this happened to me once, and it wasn't the fault of the TV. a reboot of the appletv did fix it though.

[SOLVED] KDE Start New Session doesn't work from lock screen

On my laptop, if I lock the KDE 4 session and then click Switch Users > Start New Session, I get a login screen and can log in as a different user. All good.
If I do the same thing on my desktop, it doesn't work. When I click Switch Users > Start New Session, it doesn't start a new session or switch VTs. Instead, I just get reprompted for the existing user's password.
Both machines are running fully updated Arch. Anyone know how I can troubleshoot this? The only difference I can think of between the laptop and desktop is that the desktop has nomodeset specified as a kernel boot parameter. (It won't boot without it.) Could this be interfering with automatic VT switching? Manual VT switching (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+F1) works fine.

Little more detail. Checking the journal, I can see Xorg is failing to start on display :1. If I compare Xorg.0.log with Xorg.1.log, it appears that it's not finding the proprietary NVIDIA driver in the second case. Don't know why it would be any different for :1, though. See?

ITunes doesn't fit my Samsung screen. Why is it too big?

The iTunes interface is too large for my Samsung screen. There is no menu bar at the top. What must I do to make it fit?

If your Windows taskbar is set to "use small icons", this may cause the problem.
Unselect "use small icons", and then use iTunes and it will be fine. Interestingly, if you then go back and enable "use small icons", iTunes will still be fine even after reboot.

Adobe XI Pro - Header/Footer dialogue box doesn't fit on the screen

First-time Adope Pro user.
Title explains it all. Cannot scroll through the dialog box, resize it, or see the bottom section (including the Apply/Ok option).
Resolution is at highest setting (1920 x 1080) and have tried lower resolutions with no effect. Have been able to solve similar problems with other software by using Zoom but this is not available.
Ideas welcome!

Could you please make sure that Acrobat is updated to the latest version. Go to Help -> Check for updates.
Or check following setting:
Go to menu Edit -> Preferences, choose General category and change the "Scale for screen resolution (restart required)" to "Auto"

Mini Display to VGA, screen doesn't fit. How do I fix?

When I use my Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, the resolution gets too big for my screen (mbpro 15") and the same thing appears on the projector I use. I'm not sure if I should change my screen resolution while I use the projector or what?
Also, the first (and only) time I used it, it seemed as if the signal wouldn't even send. After a while of fiddling around, the screen finally showed up on the projector (distorted) but we didn't do anything different to change that. It just kind of did it on it's own. Is this common for "first uses" or will this happen every time?
I plan on using this again Friday.

Probably the projector can't go to as high a resolution as the MBP's screen, so everything gets dumbed down to the highest resolution supported by the projector. That's to be expected in mirror mode, meaning when the projector and the MBP are trying to run the same content through the screens.
In Displays Preferences there is a Detect Displays button that is useful for times when the Mac is having trouble recognizing an external display. You can also put a check mark in the box for "Show displays in menu bar" and then you will have a shortcut in your menu bar to the Detect Displays command.
