[SOLVED] Zynaddsubfx and qwerty keyboard

Hello guys and girls!
I have a little trouble with zynaddsubfx For a long time I was having fun with Zynaddsubfx and his awesome synths. I don't have any real musical (midi or usb, no matter) keyboard and i played sounds with general qwerty keyboard. Zynaddsubfx previously worked on windows port and some other linux-based distros on my computer (for years never modified). But now here on Arch I can't play sounds with pc keyboard . Zynaddsubfx doesn't respond on almost all keys, except "6" and "7". But it is catastrophically small amount of keys to play with
I have installed Archlinux x64 and here the list of installed packages:

I think the problem is wrong keymap(?) But i don't know where to fix it
And, please, don't tell me things like "go and buy some serious stuff (midi keyboard, real synthesizer etc etc)" bcause I am not a musician and I am just having fun with Zynaddsubfx.

Haha, I found a solution
It is simple as Arch must to be
Launch [System -> Settings -> Keyboard], then move english keymap to up until english keymap will be first in the keymap's list. And wow, now zynaddsubfx works like in good old days

Is it possible (simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

I am in the process of changing my computer and would like to buy an iMac. I live in France but want to buy an iMac with English OS and a qwerty keyboard. Is it possible (simply, and I mean simply) to change an iMac from French OS and keyboard to English OS and QWERTY keyboard?

[SOLVED] Vi and international keyboards dead keys

Hello all,
I'm learning Vi from the excellent documentation by the author himself and Mary Ann Horton at FreeBSD Documentation. However I'm facing a wall that I can't seem to get around.
Under the portuguese keyboard layout as defined by pt-latin1, the following diacritics are dead-keys:
~ (tilde)
^ (circumflex) (above the tilde, requires also the use of the SHIFT key)
` (gave accent, aka back tick) (above acute accent, requires the use of the SHIFT key)
Because they are dead keys, these diacritics aren't compatible with Vi command mode and certain CTRL combinations. They are however very useful. How can I handle this problem in Vi without remmaping these symbols to different keys (it is very important I don't remap them)? Is there a way to temporarily disable dead-keys functionality and have them function as regular one-hit keys?
My search for pt keymaps without dead keys produced 0 results. So, I don't think that is an option.

Well, I took a closer look at man keymaps and found a way to deal with this; I can create single modifier definitions and load them with loadkeys.
So, if I look at dumpkeys I may find the following two lines
keycode 27 = dead_acute dead_grave apostrophe
keycode 43 = dead_tilde dead_circumflex asciitilde Control_backslash
I now know the keycodes. So I can create a new file (say, pt-latin1-undead), and write this this:
plain keycode 27 = acute
shift keycode 27 = grave
plain keycode 43 = asciitilde
shift keycode 43 = circumflex
Then all I need to do is load it with:
sudo loadkeys pt-latin1-undead
This will load it on top of my current keymap, replacing only those modifiers I defined and leaving the rest intact. When I'm done and want to get back to dead_keys mode, I simply load pt-latin1 again. Tested it already and works flawlessly!
The only disadvantage I can see is that loadkeys requires root access.
Note: The actual code for circumflex is 'asciicircum'. I didn't know this and my first try with 'asciicircumflex' was giving me a syntax error on loadkeys. So I just tried 'circumflex' and it worked. Seems to be a synonym.

N8 and PR 1.2 Vertical qwerty Keyboard

Hi
If I am not mistaken ı read some discussion about on of the pr 1.2 feature is vertical qwerty keyboard for n8. Yesterday there was a small upgrade and now my n8 firmware version is pr 1.2 but no vertical keyboard.
What is final state about this subject. This feature should have been in Pr 1.2 or will be big upgrade pr 2.0
Note: any one knows what will be on April 12 10:00. At least is it related to Nokia n8

Have you guys noticed the search window in the latest ovi maps. It has the tearaway keyboard but no qwerty in portrait yet.
i guess a tearaway portrait qwerty is in works!

No QWERTY keyboard, I have a QWERTZ keyboard. Z and Y switched

I bought a Curve 8520 last week for my son. He just noticed today that the z and y are switched on the keyboard. I called the place where we bought it and they said oh yeah some are like that. I said it is a defect. I have not actually gone there to the store yet but am going tonight when my husband can go with me. Well I am in Panama and the phone says made in Hungary. They advertise a QWERTY keyboard not a QWERTZ keyboard. Anyone else have this?

It is not a defect, it is designed that way for German and Dutch language users.
Yes, many German users have that keyboard.
You cannot change it that keyboard (well you can, but the firmware within is still going to make the Z and Y keys operate as indicated on the keyboard you have not.
Return the device to where you purchased for a QWERTY keyboard device, or get your money back.

BB Bold 9000 and BB Tour 9630 QWERTY keyboard

Does BlackBerry Bold 9000 and BlackBerry Tour 9630 has the same QWERTY keyboard? So I can use the bold keybord for tour and vice versa?

The keyboard for the Tour is actually smaller in scale than the Bold so you would not be able to swap them.

Can't do update and no qwerty keyboard - 5530

Tried to update my phone to the latest update (20.0.080) but it doesn't do anything when I select update. Also I can't get a qwerty keyboard when I turn my phone round to landscape.

I also lost my qwerty keyboard.I found out that if I rotated my phone to landscape before I hit menu and then hit messaging my keyboard was back.
Prior to that I emailed nokia asking assistance, Got this reply back yesterday.
. Reboot your device by:
a. Switch off the device.
b. Remove the back cover, battery, and sim card for atleast 5 minutes.
c. Put back the sim card, battery and back cover again.
d. Switch on the device.
2. Restore the factory settings on your phone:
a. Simply dial *#7780#.
b. It will prompt to enter security code, the default code is 12345 (unless changed). After entering these codes, phone will take sometime to switch on.
3. Hard reset your Nokia device:
Note: It is required to back up your important files before performing hard reset. We recommend that you use our PC Suite application for doing a back up. PC Suite application was designed to help you manage your files from phone to PC or vice versa. You can download the compatible Nokia PC Suite for your device from this link:

[solved] mouse and keyboard not working (and previous fix wont work)

i made a clean default setup with
arch
latest kernel - 2.6.29 i think
xorg 1.6.1
video-intel-legacy
on a 865G intel box + tried usb and ps2 keyboards + usb mouse
when i start X the mouse and keyboard dont work (and i have to hard reset the box) in all of the setups i tried. the AutoAddDevices fix suggested before does not work this time
- without xorg.conf
- with auto-generated xorg.conf (X -confogure)
- with the automatic conf +

- with tiny xorg.conf containing only

the setup that works to me now is
automatic xorg.conf with the AutAddDevices False (disable hotplug) lines
dbus and hal enabled in deamons
this lines instruct xorg to use xf86-input-mouse/keyboard instead of evdev. ie it looks like with evdev there is no point in xf86-input-mouse/keyboard

Nokia E75; QWERTY Keyboard problem.

recently I bought a Nokia E75. I have been playing around with it working the functions ect and realised that the slide QWERTY keyboard is not calibrated correctly.
Keys like ? when pressed turn out to be :
I have downloaded sogou on my phone to correct most of the keys. While still the second row of blue keys are still incorrect. The rest of the keypad is correct. Is there anyway to fix this?

Yesterday I reflashed my E75 to solve a different problem (OVI map not opening). After this my keyboard behaves as explained by you. However I notice that key sequence for ' ; ' produces '?'. Also if I type '$', I get '&' and am yet to find sequence to produce '$'. I suspect something to do with selection of charcter set while flashing.

Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard in Nokia 5800

In v40 firmware, it is said that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard has been removed. But I could see it while using Opera Mobile 10. Is there any way so that Fullscreen QWERTY keyboard option is available in other places as well, like in messaging, while using nokia browser etc.

It wasnt removed. When in the alphanumeric keypad, just tilt your phone sideways to landscape mode and it will automatically show full qwerty. It only appears if you hold the phone in landscape. After all, what's it's use if you hold it in portrait.

The obvious answer is that the designers removed it due to the N97 having a hardware keyboard. The other touch phones that have this software keyboard don't have a hardware keyboard.
It would be good to have the choice though. No one can tell you if or when it will ever appear on the N97.
All you can do is wait and hope that it makes an appearance in a future update.

Qwertz vs Qwerty keyboard

i purchased a new 8900 Curve today and when i got home, discovered that the keyboard is set up as a Qwertz (never seen one before) vs Qwerty keyboard. The blackberry website (UK) shows each keyboard setup in different photos. Is there an easy way to fix this problem?

You can't. The keyboard is what it is. You bought the German version.

Hi, I have retired and live in France. After a huge lightning storm, I have had to replace my HP. I bought a Pavilion P6 2029 locally. It has a French keyboard. There is no need to buy a HP keyboard. Any USB "QWERTY" keyboard will compatible with your computer. To source a USB "QWERTY" keyboard, try googling the internet for a local or online retailer.
