Some AAC files are truncated when iTunes plays them

When I had iTunes 6, I went through and converted all my MP3's to AAC using the Advanced > Convert Selection to AAC option. When I upgraded to iTunes 7, it stopped handling some AAC files correctly. When they play, they get almost to the end, then abruptly stop and the next song plays. Quicktime handles these files perfectly, and plays them through the end.
A. Why is this happening? (Are they encoded badly? I feel like this can't be the case, since I've only used iTunes to encode my files, and Quicktime handles them fine)
B. How can I fix it?

Actually, no I don't have crossfade playback on. The files cut out anywhere from 5 - 60 seconds before the file is supposed to finish, it really has nothing to do with crossfade...

I spent hours updating my songs with accurate informations only to find out as soon iTunes plays them they will be reset to the initial informations and the whole work was for naught.
How can I make those changes permanent?

Once again, I'm not sure about this information, if it will work, or if you're willing to do it. I'm gonna copy/paste one of my earlier post in another thread, that might be of some help:
"If none of the above suggestions worked for you, and you're willing to go to such lengths, you could Google "mp3 tag remover", use one of them and apply it to the offending song(s). Apparently, I just learned, there are some id3 tag information that a user, such as yourself, cannot edit or even see through normal means and that is proabably what's causing your difficulty.
In another thread, someone else had difficulty playing an album (In rainbows by Radiohead)due to hidden tag information and solved it by the procedure I've outline previously, (the Google thing...).
Please Note: I can't vouch that this will work or, God forbid, that it won't cause other difficulties down the road. "
If you do this and it does work, this means though, that all previous info will most likely be erased and you'll have to start all over again. Also note, that I never did this procedure myself, and I can't vouch for its safety or efficacy.

After installing iTunes 10.5 all my mp3s in the playlist are distorted when i play them

After I updated my iTunes Version to 10.5 everything seems to be alright, but when i played a song from my libary it sounds very distorted.
This is only with my Mp3 files. When I played a .m4a file everything is alright and like the time before.
So what could I do?
I reinstalled my iTunes, Quicktime etc. and checked my audio device + reinstalled the audio driver.
Nothing happens and the problem is still present.

System restore did put back my previous version of Itunes, but I couldn't open it due that my library file was made by Itunes 10.5. So, I uninstalled Itunes usingthe Control Panel's Remove Program, but that didn't delete everything, so I had to manually delete Itune files. Then I weny to cnet.com to install aprevious version of Itunes. I had to build my library from scratch.

ITunes can not run because some required files are missing.

I got a message that said something like "iTunes can not run because some required files are missing. reinstall itunes." I tried to reinstall iTunes but I kept getting that message. So, i uninstalled it, and tried to install it again. this did not work. I think that Quicktime is actually what is broken, because iTunes installs fine, but the Quicktime installation failed. When the installation failed, i got a message that said, "Installation failed: error code: -3"
I then tried installing Quicktime with the standalone installer. The installation got further, but it then failed as well, giving the error code -1603.
What can I do to get this reinstalled, and if you can't answer that, how can I contact Apple from Iraq? Thank you.

hmmm...that happened to me at one point to, and I'm trying to think back, I believe I was able to uninstall it by using the standalone installer.....
Try these steps and see if anything helps, and then in the troubleshooting section, look up the specific error number you are receiving...

Hi, Nokia fans. I recently updated my firmware to 034.001. MY E52 jumps songs when play some AAC files downloaded from iTunes store. It doesn`t occur until I updated to the newest firmware. Any idea how to fix this?

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. i've had this happen when the cd is extremely dirty. usually only one or two tracks though, not a whole cd.

I'd like to check for malware with that message, Nico. (With modern versions of iTunes, if files really were missing, iTunes would be much more likely to do a repair install of itself when you wen't to launch it, rather than returning the old-fashioned files-are-missing message.
Download and install the free version of MalwareBytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hours on My Lenovo.)

Reinstalling iTunes simply replaces the application. It shouldn't affect your media. You do have backups, right?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

I also had this problem and solved it by deleting the downloaded file, turning off the firewall and Cybersitter (content filter) and downloading itunes setup again. It then worked perfectly. I therefore recommend you disable any firewall or filtering software you may have (temporarily of course) and try again. Good luck.

Both file paths are valid - both real files exist in the listed folder.
I SUPPOSE I can go through my entire 12,000+ track library searching for randomly lost media links within iTunes, then use the 10+ clicks it takes PER TRACK to tell iTunes where the file is. Even though the path in the XML look accurate.
Any ideas? And please don't tell me to dump my iTunes library itl and xml files and start from scratch. I have dozens of playlists, layers smart playlists, etc. I can't even imagine getting all that setup again.

OK, here's what REALLY doesn't make sense.
After manually fixing a lost file, NOTHING in the XML changes. Not one single character changes in the XML file. I diff'd the whole file before and after - no difference. So, basically, it goes out and 'finds' it and updates something that we can't see to repair the connection, meanwhile we are left to think that this XML file has the library data in it.
Mind you, the media file(s) are present and accounted for in the file system - correct name and path and everything - before and after I go Locate the file when iTunes complains about it being missing..
iTunes is so overbloated, we can't even fix stuff when we see precisely how it is broken.
