Some adobe fireworks cs5 panel acting strange.... how to fix it

Hello everyone, I had a little problem with adobe firework cs5, nothing big. Some of the Adobe Fireworks CS5 panel is acting strange: special character panel don’t show any character when I want to insert a special character when I finish create a text. Image editing panel don’t show any editing feature. Patch panel kept on blinking over and over again.
I try to uninstall over and over again but this don’t seem to fix this issue.

I'm having the same problem with the Paths, Image Editing and Color Palette panels. I updated to the latest version of Flash Player 10.3.183.10. Still doens't work.

What new can we expect in Adobe Fireworks CS5?

I can understand your frustration, but FW is a graphics app first and foremost. It's got the design tools that FC doesn't have. It was never planned to be a completely interactive tool. At least we can export Fireworks objects and designs as FXG, so we can wire up that interactivity within Flash Catalyst.

Flash Catalyst doesn't have the graphics chops of software like Fireworks, Photoshop or Illustrator though. It's a tool for creating the interactivity more than it is a graphics tool. I see a fit for both.

I'm sure there will be improvements, but I wouldn't expect Fireworks to become an interactive tool like FC.

Yeah, don't get me started on THAT one. You aren't the only one disappointed about this, but who knows what cool things the future may bring.

I like red hair. Seriously, Fireworks is a tool that many people have a hard time understanding - if they've never used it before. I've heard it called Photoshop's poor cousin, or an ImageReady replacement. From my perspective, it just does so many diffferent things that people have a hard time labeling it. Macromedia never got it right - and they created the software! They spent way too much time comparing it to Photoshop. And it's not Photoshop. At least Adobe has found a useful niche for my favorite graphics app, so I will give them that much. HTH!

Hanging indent, Adobe Fireworks CS5

Any idear how to do a "hanging indent" in Fireworks CS5 for a multi-line custom bulleted list.
Or if there is the "indent here" option in paragraph text for Fireworks CS5?
I can't believe it doesn't have such a simple type controls like this, but it's legacy code - so maybe brute force is the only way.

A single negative indent value doesn't quite give me enough control. At least not what I'm used to compared to the other Adobe apps. Uusually you spec a first line indent value and an indent value for the remaining lines in the paragraph. (ie 8, -8 pts, respectively)
OR an Indent-here command. (I know there's no such thing in HTML, but that's not my concern in designing protypes/mockups - and CSS does handle that quite plainly these days.)
I know the FireWorks isn't ideal application for typesetting, but considering it's been rev'd up several times since the MacroMedia acquisition, you'd think someone would have solved this basic integration issue by now. I doubt it's fixed in CS5.5 either...UGH.
Brute force typesetting here I come.

Fireworks CS5 click-through prototype - how to organize?

In Fireworks CS5 I'm trying to organize a click-through prototype, but I can't seem to get it to work as intended. I have the following Pages:
Master page
Page 1
Page 2
On the Master page I have (apart from a static background image) two instances of the same button Symbol to make a global navigation. One button is linked to Page 1 and the other to Page 2. The button Symbol has a certain look for the two states: Over (hover) and Down (click) states.
If I export the pages as a html click-through prototype, the two buttons work as expected when I start navigating from the Master page, apart from one thing:
The Down states aren't shown on click and they aren't persisted (for you-are-here indicators) when either Page 1 or Page 2 is loaded.
So my question(s) is/are:
What am doing wrong/have I misunderstood? / How can I organize my prototype differently to make sure the clicked state of the buttons are shown and persisted as I navigate through the prototype?

I can reproduce the issue and have notified the Fireworks Dev team along with supplying them with my sample. In the meantime, one workaround is to place a static graphic, representing your down states, on the appropriate pages.
Alternatively, do not use button symbols. Rather, place the graphic for each state on an actual state in the Master page, then apply a slice and add a Navbar behavior. It's a bit more work and not as elegant as the button symbol, but it does work. Make sure to add the same number of (blank) states to your other pages.
Let me know if you need specific steps.

Hallo, I have one problem with animation in FireWorks CS5. Colors of all background layers and animated symbols fall apart when animation is saved as Animated GIF, closed and opened again. Soft shades become sharp with no transparency. Can you please tell me what to do to avoid this problem with Animated GIF? Do I have any wrong setting in any parameter? All layers and sources of symbols are set in RGB. Thank you for helping me.

Adobe Fireworks CS5: A way to change an existing slideshow export image width and height?

I have an existing slide show with 8 albums with numerous images in each. They have all been carefully labeled and sorted and placed.
The export image size was set, at one time, to 800 x 600 and everything displayed splendedly..
After just adding another album, all of a sudden, the images are displayed as 320 x 240. I have not idea why this is and I can't seem to figure out how to change this without creating the entire slideshow from scratch because the fields for the image size are greyed out...
Can someone please let me know where I would find this knowledge? I'm not very well versed in webdesign and only have this site and gallery using dreamwaever and fireworks through brute force...

CS5 Panels acting bizarrely - unable rearrange the dock panels and cannot use the drop down menus

The panels are not functioning properly in my new version of CS5. Several things are wrong:
I cannot click a panel tab and move it. When I click on a panel, nothing happens. I tried moving the swatch panel to the bottom of the dock and I got nothing. I tried Command Click and I was able to move the swatch panel off the dock, but when i tried to re-dock it at the bottom of the panels, it would not dock in.
Also, when I try click on the menus in the panels in the dock, nothing happens. I have to click multiple times....and then the drop down menu just appears for a milisecond and then disappears....so I am not able to select anything.
Oh...and I am working in 32 bit.
Anyone have a clue what to do?

Sounds like your problem is solved.
If you look at Alien skin's website regarding CS5 (http://support.alienskin.com/Article_BB9D5.aspx), then you'll see that they state that their plug-ins are CS5 compatible, so maybe you have an old version, or maybe you want to let them know about this issue.

CS5 Brushes acting strange? (pics)

I recently got Photoshop and I'm still trying to get used to it, and upon opening it today I found that all of my brushes had this weird choppy overlap in opacity that I couldn't fix:
I have no clue what happened, but I can't get them to be consistent at all. Both the opacity and flow are set to 100%. I'm new to this, guys, so I have no idea if this is common or what.

If you're referring to this, the dual brush setting has been off the entire time.

Bookmarks panel is broken, how to fix?

After I've restarted my FireFox the bookmarks panel appears to be broken: it doesnt contain anything and I can't drag and drop something on it. There's some screenshots:

Adobe Reader XI Update failed. How to fix?

When my windows 7 64 bit computer was updated to adobe reader XI, the update function began to continually fail. I am getting the following "Adobe Reader Updater" message:
"Update Failed An error occured. Please check for updates again later. Error: 111500"
This message annoyingly pops up when adobe attempts to check for updates automatically. I also get this message anytime I manually check for updates. I have tried to "check for updates later" a million times with no luck. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Reader a million times. I have also uninstalled, utilized the adobe reader removal tool for removal of older versions, and reinstalled a million times. I have also tried reinstalling the older versions. Still, whether i am using version XI or an older version of Reader, I always get the above message when I request an update. Please Help!

This error means that Updater could not create download folder under C:\Users\All Users\Adobe\ARM
Most likely you have special\corrupted permissions at C:\Users\All Users level
Or some sort of Antivirus type program keeps this folder locked.
You have 2 choices
1. Fix permissions\locking issue
2. Download Updates manually and install them every time they are released - http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/release-note/release-notes-acrobat-reader.html
If you choose later, you can disable Updater automatic modes from Edit\Preferences\Updater menu.

CS5 - the background layer - although it shows as being locked - it is not -- when I add a new layer the new information also changes in the background layer - how do you fix that?

Some playlists won't sync, why and how to fix?

So far I have found 5 playlists on my iTunes library that won't sync to my iPod. I have no issue with my previous iPod or my iPhone with those playlists but only with my late 2009 issue iPod classic (160GB).
Anyone know why or how to correct this issue?

More Information:
The the difference in the Smart Playlists that appear in the iTunes left-side folder panel but not in the Devices/iPod/Music tab panel and those that appear in both is that they all contain the Match All rule term: "Playlist is ".
I need that rule because I load only a subset (about 9,000 songs) of the songs on iTunes onto my iPod Classic. I use a Non-Smart Playlist ("My iPod List") to enumerate those songs. Thus the various Smart Playlists need to be conditioned on that ("My iPod List") Playlist subset so that they do not load other songs from iTunes. This used to work just fine. One of the upgrade revisions to iTunes (9?) or the iPod broke it. Smart Playlist Rules that reference other Smart Playlist still work correctly.
Can this bug be fixed?

When I log into a site, Firefox doesn't recognize I have logged in and asks me to log in again and again. I never get past this phase. It has to do with some setting but I don't know how to fix it.

Firefox is not recognizing that I have logged into a web page with user name and password. It is stuck on the log in page. Where do I change the Firefox settings so it recognizes the log in and password and lets me into the site? I have had this user name and password for several months so I know it works.

It may be that you have cookies disabled, do any of the sites tell you that you need to enable cookies? Check if cookies are enabled: [[Enabling and disabling cookies]]
