Some Apps Automatically Relaunch on Restart, Sometimes

I always quit all apps I have open prior to shutting down my Mac (OS X 10.8.2) for the night. I never check the Reopen windows when logging back in box in the shutdown dialog and I do have the Close windows when quitting an application checked in System preferences>General checked. However, despite this I sometimes find that when I restart the Mac the next day some (but usually not all) the apps I had closed the night before just prior to shutting down the Mac are automatically relaunched. Most days it doesn't happen but every now and then it does, and recently it seems to be happening more often for some reason.
For example, last night I had Firefox, Thunderbird, iA Writer and iTunes open when I came to shutdown the Mac. I know for a certainty that I quit each of them manually first, I distinctly remember they were all shutdown before I proceeded (since this started happening I've begun paying more attention to what I'm doing at this point each day). Then I pressed ctrl-eject keys to bring up the shutdown dialog, verified that the Reopen windows when logging back in checkbox was not checked and clicked the Shutdown button. Shutdown happened with no problems or messages being reported. Yet this this morning when I powered on the Mac it relaunched all the apps that had been running prior to last night's shutdown, except Firefox...
This weird behaviour only happens sometimes, most days it all works fine as it's supposed to with no apps automatically relaunched, and usually only one or two apps get automatically relaunched when it does happen (today's list of three was unusual), but I can discover no reason why it happens or any way to stop it from happening.
Is anyone else seeing this behaviour and if so do you have any ideas about how to stop it?

If you don't want autosave or resume you can copy & paste this command into Terminal at the prompt...

Press return
Now reboot.
The reverse would be "yes".

The problem Apps may need to be updated. Or maybe your iTunes account needs to just update itself on your iPhone. To do this, install a free App from the App Store on your iPhone. Tap App Store app on iPhone, select and install a free App. When that is done try the problem Apps to see if they work OK again.

It gives instructions using a program called "Lingon", but this appears to be an earlier version, because the latest version I've downloaded for Leopard seems to have different options. Despite this I've tried to work around the instructions but am failing it appears.
I am not experienced in this area and would appreciate someone giving me some pointers int he right direction, as I believe this potentially a simple thing to do.
In Lingon you have 3 main windows:
In Window 1 I have: "com.jamiemartin.C4DServerLauncher"
In Window 2 I have: "/Applications/MAXON/CINEMA\ 4D\ R9/C4D\ Server"
In Window 3 I have: "Run it every 1 minute"
The reson I have selected "Run it every 1 minute" in section 3 is that I have multipled crash logs for the C4D Server app, so don't know which one to select for the program to recognise the file being modified (when it unexpectedly quits) as is in the original instructions. I assumed this would be a workaround?
Also, what do I do after I have saved this? Do I have to leave Lingon open for it to work, or has it saved this script somewhere?
So, I am probably way off the mark, but if anyone can put me back on track I'd greaty appreciate it.

And yes, you're right about the possibility of it being the frontmost app every minute being potentially annoying! Hadn't considered that. I didn't follow the original instructions of selecting a crash log as the file to check, as I assume that that wouldn't work, as whenever the app crashes it creates a new crash log instead, so it would, in theory, never recognise a change in the script (as it would be looking at the previous crash log), and thus never realise the app has quit? I'm not sure how the logs are filed. I assumed that the author of that macworld article checked it out and the crash logs are appended to a fixed file. if a new log file is created every time this will of course not work. the alternative is to have the launch daemon watch the whole crash reporter folder instead of a single file. this way the application in question will launch every time ANY application crashes but that seems like an acceptable workaround.
Also, I notice the instructions say that you need to go deeper than selecting just the app itself, but delve into the package contents, but on this version of Lingon I don't have that option.
yes it does and you have to do as the article says. in fact this has nothing to do with Lingon at all. we are talking about the application you are watching not Lingon. control-click on the application you are watching and select "show package contents". go to Contents->Mac OS and drag the unix executable file to filed 2 in Lingon.

in ~/Library/LaunchAgents. ~ means your home directory.

i have an ongoing problem where some apps/programs like safari, mail, stickies, messages etc. automatically open up at restart or new start.
i have to do a force quit to close them. and yes i keep unchecking the tab at shut down to say dont repoen.
i have 10:8:2 mountain lion. any ideas..?

In addition to borgeano's idea (a very good one) open System Preferences - Users & Accounts - Log-in items and see if the offending apps are listed. If they are then highlight them and click the - symbol at the bottom of the box to remove them.

New BB Z30 Freezing, Docs are unable to Open, microSD card automatically formatted after restart, unable to open Some Pictures, Long time for Charging

I purchased a new BlackBerry Z30 recently from http://store.shopblackberry.com/store/bbrryus/en_US/pd/productID.298806900/categoryID.66826600/paren... and my Phone Model number is STL 100-5. I also purchased a Z30 Leather flip case manufactured by BlackBerry. I am using my BlackBerry Z30 along with the Z30 Leather flip case.
1) Within the first 2 weeks of receiving and using the new BB Z30 device, I noticed a problem of screen not responding some times. My phone has been freezed at the lock screen. My phone is not responding to any key except for the power button. So, I had an option of only restart/Turn Off my BlackBerry Z30 device. All the time whenever I had this problem, I have to restart my device in order to make it work properly again. I complained about this issue with BlackBerry Technical Support. They assisted me to reset the device to factory settings by taking a full backup. After reset also, I still had the same issue.
2) I am using Sandisk Extreme microSD card of 32GB with my BB Z30 device. Some times due to the restart option, all the data which I had on my microSD card is being erased and is filled with an unknown files.
3) I'm also unable to open some pictures which I have taken using BlackBerry Z30. As I observed, most of the pictures which I taken using Blackberry Z30 are unable to be open/view them after a few days. Still, I am able to observe the properties of those pictures. They are in JPEG format only.
4)Also If I create a Word Document on BlackBerry Z30 using Docs to Go Application and saved it. After closing that particular document and If I try to open it, the document file is not opening and projecting me an error of "This is not a valid .Doc file", but while I check the properties of that particular document it is in .doc format. I tried to transfer the file to my laptop using bluetooth. After a few seconds (approx 2-3 seconds) automatically the transferring is cancelled by the BlackBerry Z30 device. However, I tried to transfer the file within that short time using Bluetooth. While I tried to open it on my laptop using Microsoft Office 2013, the file is displaying with a squares of upto 4 pages while I had a content in it of 3 lines only. While I opened my file using Microsoft Office 2013, there is only squares available in that document.
5) My new BlackBerry Z30 is taking a long time of approximately 6-7 hours to charge the device from 10% to 100%

On 7th of Jan 2015 I made my device to factory reset. Also I removed microSD card from my device. As I observed for these 3 days, one time while I received a missed call, I tried to have a look at it. I observed that my screen has been freeze at the receiving call position and its not responding. I tried to close and reopened the display of my device with a flip case which I'm currently using for my device. At this time, after 3-4 swipes to unlock the device, again its back into working condition.
About Documents, I'm able to create, save and open the documents without any issues till now.
About Pictures, they are also working fine without any issues.
I also observed the charging time as approximately 3 hours for charging the device from 14% to 100%.

Thanks for the response gakker, but I've double-checked the camera / iPhoto / Image Capture scenario, and I'm 100% positive it's got nothing to do with that.
Plugging in my iPhone has no effect on anything related to this.
The other thing I should have mentioned is that when iTunes on my Mac is NOT running, then nothing happens on my iPhone screen when I plug it in to my Mac. I only get the "Sync in progress" message when iTunes IS running.
It's interesting though that you say you also get this "Sync in progress" message, albeit only for a second or two though.
Can I just double-check something with you however... When you say:

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

Can't open some apps-

I updated my work computer to Yosemite yesterday and noticed that some apps just won't open anymore. Bartender and Menuola are a couple that I've noticed. I get this pop-up with no error message, just "The application “Bartender” can’t be opened."
Steps I've tried: [unsuccessfully]
Reinstalled Yosemite
Repaired Disk Permissions
Repaired Disk
Restarted UI agents in Activity Monitor
Tried reinstalling Bartender, with/without Gatekeeper
Bartender works fin on my other computers running Yosemite. Any suggestions/solutions?

Back up all data.
Step 1
If Mail crashes or freezes immediately on launch, try the steps suggested on this page. Sometimes a corrupt message on a mail server can be deleted by logging in to the server through its web page. If Mail still crashes on launch, skip to Step 3.

Select all your mailboxes, and then select
Mailbox ▹ Export Mailbox...
from the Mail menu bar. Export the mailboxes to the Desktop folder.
Make a note of the settings for all your Mail accounts – everything you'd need to reconstruct the settings from scratch.
Quit Mail.
Step 3
In the Finder, hold down the option key and select
Go ▹ Library
from the menu bar. Move the following items from the folder that opens to the Desktop:
Application Support/AddressBook/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr
Containers/com.apple.mail
Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Mail
Note: you are not moving the Mail application. You’re moving a folder named “Mail.”
Launch Mail. It will behave as if you were setting it up for the first time. Go through the setup process with one of your accounts, using the information you noted earlier. Test. If Mail works now, recreate the rest of your settings.
If there’s no improvement, quit Mail and put back the items you moved to the Desktop, replacing any newer ones that may have been created in their place. Stop here and post your results.

This step should not be necessary with IMAP or Exchange mailboxes, because they synchronize automatically with the server. Nevertheless, if the mailboxes are very large, importing them may spare you the need for a long download.
If you took Step 2, import the mailboxes you exported:

If you skipped Step 2, look inside the Mail folder on the Desktop for a subfolder Mail/V2/Mailboxes. Import the mailboxes it contains.

We are sharing one account for 3 iphones, everytime one of us purchase some app, the app show up in the other iphone as well. How do we disable this?

Me, my wife and sis are using the same apple account for our 3 iphone.
Everytime one of us purchase a app online, the other two will have the same app installed automatically.
Sometimes is good, but most of the time, it's annoying.
Is there anyway to disable this?

It's also dangerous that if you are downloading some app that is not good for your kids who is sharing the same account with you. They can easily turn on/off the app sharing without your notification.
So, if Apple can set an option that can control this from the pc instead of from the device, that will be much better to control than this!
I hope Apple is reading this!

AnswerSoftware Updater only installs security-related updates automatically. Non-security-related updates, and service packs installation are required to be initiated manually via the Software updates tab under the Policy Manager Console.
In Policy Manager 12, a checkbox Show non-security-related updates has been introduced under the Policy Manager Console > Software tab. Unchecking the checkbox hides the following update types:
Microsoft security tools
Non-security updates
Service packs
Note: This checkbox is Policy Manager Console-specific setting. If you change the setting in one Policy Manager Console, it would not affect another Policy Manager Console connected to the same Policy Manager Server.
