Some apps iOS4 only
I have a 1st gen Touch and some apps now have updates that say they do not work for pre-iOS4. Since I cannot upgrade to iOS4 with 1st gen Touch, I now have to choose to (a) delete the app or (b) never use "Update All" again and put up with it always showing updates. I am not sure option (b) will work for me, because I also have an iPhone 3G on the same iTunes account. I assume if I update the app on the iPhone, then sync the iPhone it will update the app in iTunes. If I then sync the Touch, it will update the app which then won't work. Correct?
The iOS3 apps are generally updated over time. Keeping in mind there are 300,000 apps last I checked by doing a search on Google (duplicates included in that count like FarmVille 5 credits along with Farmville itself).
If the app works fine with the 3G/3GS, they generally state "iOS4 tested" or "4.0 tested" and not bother updating until a later time. It generally takes multiple complaints through support that 3G/3GS based apps aren't working great and they would test it and update.
It's up to the moderator as well if their apps aren't 3G/3GS supportable and deny usage. However it should have blocked being visible on the App Store if it ain't. Like the iPad is.

Interesting issue - Help! Some App downloads only work in some areas!
When I am on my home or work wireless network all of my apps including email and TV Guide and about 10 news apps all download perfectly.
When I am at the local airport on their free internet, all my news apps work fine (NY Times, Blastr, Dvice, Pulse, TUAW, Weather Bug, IMDB, etc) and refresh as they should. I even streamed the "Dark Knight" movie app which plays the first 5 minutes of the movie free (then it's 9.99 for the rest!) and it played as it should.
However, my TV Guide app AND my AOL email won't load. Ever. I've tried this many times. BUT my Safari works and goes to any website. (I guess I should try to load my email directly from a Safari page - never thought of that till now)
TV Guide just spins the little fuzzy circle and says "Loading" until I get a "Network timed out" message.
Email just sits on a blank screen and also says "Loading" and then it times out as well.
(PS - the "Ad" banner at the top of the TV Guide app runs!)
Interestingly enough, the exact same thing happens on my iTouch and my iPhone with the same apps!!
The only thing I could even possibly fathom is that there is some kind of bandwidth issue???
Any clues?Most likely the problem is that some IP addresses and/or ports are being blocked by the network sources you are referring to. It has nothing to do with the devices you are using. Contact the provider of the "free" WiFi to see what the restrictions are.

Some app use only channel 1 and 2 of a 6 channel sound card

I use a Native Instruments Audio 6 soundcard, that has 6 channels. In Mac's Audio Midi Setup speaker configuration I configured that channel 5 and 6 have to be used for stereo. This works for quite a lot of apps, like Safari and iTunes, but other apps, like Chrome and XBMC, route their audio through channel 1 & 2. How can this be solved?

Some apps give just sound and no view
I just installed my apple tv, with the ipad i am able to look and hear ie. youtube and videos (synced to my ipad)on my television. However some apps give only sound and no view. Why is this, and is this going to Be supported by apple? Or should i configue something?
it is up the app developer to include support for video airplay.
apple provide the possibility to do it, the ball is in the app developers court to support it. -
Creative Cloud showing some apps as trial
I've got a student subscription to creative cloud, just wondering why it's showing me some apps as only being availble to downlaod as a trial? (like Illustrator)
is this normal? I can't find any mention that this should be the case.

Ive downloaded some apps onto my pc yet only 1 has synced to my ipad, it says something about theres a problem with my billing, yet I purchased the 1 app I got for $20, but 1 free app and another paid, wont sync, i di have money in my account
Right click on your iPad's name in the iTunes app on your computer and choose to transfer purchases. That should transfer anything that you have bought with the App Store app on the iPad to the iTunes app on your computer.

My sound only works through the ear phones with some apps....
With some apps (Games and books) I can only get sound on my IPAD 2 though the earphones...this just recently occured. With movies the sound goes through the speakers just fine. Is there some adjustment I can make so I can hear the games without using the ear phones?
Make sure that you haven't got notifications muted (which will affect most games, but not iPod or Videos apps, nor earphones). Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to, notifications can either be muted by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar (the function that the switch isn't performing is on the task bar instead) : double-click the home button to bring up the task bar, slide the bar to the right, and it's the icon far left. If you lost sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted. I think that's what you are experiencing.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the control center if you are running iOS 7. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to control center . Tap on the bell icon and system sounds will return.
If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock can be accessed in the same manner as described above.

My iPhone5 was replaced today and when I did a restore I was only able to access a previous backup to the backup that I did yesterday? Hence, I do not have access to some apps such as ebooks and games. Can you help resolve this issue?
My girlfriend had a similar issue because her new device was not updated to IOS7 when she turned it on, but her backup point was created using IOS7. Check to be sure the restore point was created and then factory reset the phone after you have updated to 7.

I have spotty signal at my home, so some functions don't work until I leave the house. I noticed on the main screen, it says I have 54 emails, but when I open the app, I only have 4. I powered down and back up. No fix. What gives?
Im having this same problem an my phone is about 3 weeks old. I am not sure about the voice over part though...I have not yet figured out how to work the voice recognition part of the phone...I am such a newbie with this phone. I did the power off/on suggestion, several times. I tried leaving it off for 10 minutes. Tried to reset with the power on/off and home button pressed at the same time. Charged battery. Still makes no difference. You cannot scroll any direction. Have to double click to open apps. Have to double click letters when texting or emailing in order to get the letter in the text box. Can scroll through app choices, have to click on the line with the dots in it and move from page to page. Can't access the settings - > general - > accessibility - because it won't allow me to scroll down to "general".
Anyone help you with your fix yet? -
Only some apps print to HP or Ikon
Okay, I am at a complete loss here and I really hope someone can help figure this out.
I am running Tiger, 10.4.10 on a G5. I just had to reinstall everything. I have a HP 5000N LaserJet and am also connected to a digital copier/printer, Ikon CCP 8050. Before the crash and ensuing reinstall everything was running fine. I have the latest drivers. I am running Quark, MS products, and all the Adobe products, as well as the Mac Mail program and Safari. I have contacted Apple (at the Genius bar), Quark, HP, and Ikon and no one can help me.
I can only print to the HP from Quark. I cannot print to the color printer from Quark.
I have the opposite problem from all of the other applications. I can print to the color printer but not to the HP (it crashes Word).
Can anyone tell me what I should try or check next? Like I said, I have the most recent drivers and all the other tech support I have received has proved useless. It seems odd to me that some programs would work and some would not.
I can supply whatever missing info you may need.

Top-level folders in each user home folder, yes. Apps, no. See #19 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum), for details.
And you have to be very careful of apps. Complex ones, that come with their own installers, often do more than install the app in your /Applications folder; they put various files in assorted places. If you don't know where they all are, the app won't work properly, if at all (and you'll likely have to re-enter the purchase codes). Those need to be reinstalled from the original discs. -
