Some artists won't show on 30 gb ipod video.

The last few artists on my ipod like zz top and those down there show up on my ipod when hooked up but not when un-hooked. Answers are appreciated.

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous to all the blanks in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder.

  • Some artists won't show up...

Some artists on my iPod won't show up in the artists menu, but if I go the albums, their album is there so the only way I could access that artist is if I went to Albums....how do I fix this?

It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

  • Artists won't show up?

When I go to the artist menu on my iPod classic 80gb, some of the artists don't show up. Their songs are still there though because I can get to them from the album and song menus. Why?

You should also check that the songs have album name info in their ID tags.
See: Some songs don't show under artist on my iPod.
Once you add a second album name for that artist even for a single song, ALL the rest of the songs should now show up under that artist, even those without album names.
Providing the spelling for the artists is exactly the same of course.

  • Some Artists do not show up on "Artist" list.  Why?

When I look for certain artists on my iPod Classic, the artist does not show up in the "Artist" category, but does show up in the "Album" category.  Why?

For the missing Artists on your iPod, make sure their tracks in iTunes are not marked as "Part of a compilation" in iTunes. You can do this by highlighting the track, right->clicking on them and choosing Get Info from the shortcut menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Info tab and make sure there is NO tick mark next to this option in the lower right hand corner. Lastly, sync the updated changes to your iPod if necessary.

  • I have purchased music from itunes on my iphone and it won't show up in my Ipod music library on my phone.  It shows up in my itunes library on my computer.  This is a recent glitch as up until this week purchased music downloads fine on phone.

I purchased music on itunes on my iphone and the songs won't show up in my music library on the phone.  They are on my computer itunes library but it won't let me transfer the purchases back to my phone (which I have never had to do before).  Never had this problem before this week when purchasing music on my iphone.
My Itunes library on my laptop is slightly different from my Iphone library so I don't want to erase and sync the entire library.

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.

  • Can't upload TV Shows to new 30g iPod Video

We just purchased the new iPod Video (30g) and in Windows XP, iTunes 7 all of the songs and music videos uploaded. However, none of the TV Shows uploaded.
    Any ideas?

The only other thing I can think of is listing the past history:
    1. Had an iPod Mini before and older version of iTunes.
    2. Purchased the TV Shows before buying the new iPod Video
    3. Upgraded to iTunes 7 and then sync'd to new iPod.
    TV Shows missing on iPod
Could the older iPod be the problem here? Are the shows flagged as not being available to upload to the new iPod?

  • Artist won't show up, PLEASE HELP

I just got my 30 gig video ipod today and loaded all my music on it, and one of my bands Keane, wont show up in my artists list. It goes straight from Kansas to The Killers. But if I go to the All Songs list then Keans' songs are in there. Any help would be most appreciated.

OK, i think I figured it out, Keane wasnt the only band who wasnt in the Artists list, some others were too. and it was because they were put in the Compilations folder on my computer. So i turned OFF compilations on my Ipod, and unchecked the selection in preferences to "group compilations while browsing" and deleted the compilations folder. But when i play the Keane songs it automatically puts them in a new Compilations folder. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING. thank you very much.

  • Some artists won't display on my Classic

After syncing my 80 gig iPod Classic with my iTunes, I can access the song by song name, album, genre, playlist, etc. However, I can't reach the song by artist. This has only happened with a few artists, and I have tried to rename the artist on iTunes and re-syncing. This hasn't helped. My friend also got a Classic for Christmas, and his is doing the same thing. We are not having trouble with the same artists. Please help!

Two things often contribute to this.
One is that some songs might be tagged as Part Of A Compilation (see the Get Info on those songs/albums) in which case they will not show up under the artist. This was already pointed out by the other person's reply.
Second, is that an artist needs at least two different Albums identified for their songs to all list under the artist. In other words, if you import a CD with album name then add a handful of misc songs without album names associated, those handful will not show up under the artist name.
But add an album name to at least one of those handful of misc. songs and then ALL of the songs should show up under the artist.
You don't have to do it for all of them, just enough to have two different albums identified with the artist. But in general, it is a good idea to make sure your tunes have Song name, artist name, and album name associated with them as a minimum.

  • Some songs won't show...

I've downloaded the new Madonna song on my iPod and I can find it under "Songs", but not under "Madonna", although it is correctly tagged.
Anybody having the same problem and havingbeen successful in solving it?
    Thanks

I'm missing a whole artist. I just imported the new Carry Underwood CD to I Tunes. It shows up in my I Tunes library. It also shows up on my I Pod library under the source directory in I Tunes but once I disconnect the I Pod from the docking station, Carry Underwood is not in the artists list. However I was able to find the CD under album title however.
I verified that there were no spacing issues in the artists name (I acutally retyped her name in the artist block in "get info" - "info") and that the songs were checked (my default for uploading to the I Pod).
After futher investigation, i'm noticing that there are more artists missing (usually only artists from soundtracks)from the artist list. I can usually find that track under compilations and then the soundtrack title.
While this is no extreme crisis, it does make it much more difficult to find that particular track.
If anybody has any suggestions, comments or just to tell me that i'm an idiot (LOL), please post.
    Thanks
    Jake

  • Some devices won't show up in iTunes device list

I have iTunes 11.1.4.62. I can sync some devices just fine (nan gen2, iPod Classic), as they show up on device list within iTunes when connected via USB. The PROBLEM is with other devices (iPhone 5, Nano 5th gen, iPad 4th gen) that do not show up on device list when THEY are plugged in via USB.
Have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. Verified that all Apple Service (helper, etc.) are running. Any ideas as to why some of my deives would stopp showing up on device list (they did until the most recent iTune Update).

  • Some songs don't show up on my iPod at all.

And other songs show up, but only in the song section, not the artist section...I'm thinking this MAY have something to do with faulty id3 tags, but I'm stumped as to how to fix it. Please help shed some light on my problem, thanks.

  • How come in software version 5.1 that when I add artists to my music; the artist will not show up on my ipod

Okay so i just recently updated my Ipod to the latest version for software wise (which is 5.1). So in doing so I lost all my music and had to put it all back in (Which was fine with me really). After I put this all in and re entered every single one of my artist back in. After i finished and synced up I look on myipod and noticed that some of my music is still missing artist info. I thought maybe it didn't sync or something so I checked back on itunes to see if I entered everything in correctly and I did. So I resynced and still added information on there. Before version 5.1 I was able to get artist information on there just fine, but after this update it would not let me get any of the music.
Extra Info: All the music I have gotten was not from itunes. I did not use apple products till about 4-5 years ago (First ipod touch and still using it). So i obtained my music all before itunes. I am not sure maybe that is why because I did not get it from itunes, but got it from another website maybe is why? Tho the flaw in that is because before this update I was able to add artist info and all, but up until the recent one I was not able too.

Correct syncing of music information is a recurring problem with iOS 5/iTunes 10.5/10.6.  I have not seen a good solution yet.

  • Why are only some of my songs showing up on my ipod?

My itunes says that I have 3264 songs on my Ipod but when i unplug it my ipod is only showing that I have 457 songs. I have tried resyncing my ipod but that doesn;t seem to do anything. I don't have my autofill settings on choose songs randomly so I don't know what is going on? it is also really random about which songs it has and which ones it doesn't so it is not like some albums are appearing and others are not. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Hello samanthaflora
If you see a cloud option, then you have the option of Show All Music turned on. If you go to Settings > Music and look for that option, you can turn it off to not show any of your purchased history to show up in the Music App. Try that and then sync the music again to see if it still shows up as double.  If it is, then could you take a screen shot and add it to the reply so that way we can see what you are describing to better assist you.
