Some CD's wont open

Hi all,
Some CD's wont open, tho I'm sure they did before - but before what?
Nothing I've done (I think) but perhaps some settings have changed.
I've checked the DVD/CD preferences, and they look OK.
Could it be a damaged instruction file, or WhatHaveYou...

Re-starting the computer may help.
Cleaning the CD drive with a branded cleaner product
may also help.
( This will get some going I am sure.... )
Repairing permissions may also help.
Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > Disk
Utilities.

Well, I've tried the repair permissions route - it didn't work.
As for a cleaning program, which I don't have anyway - my experience with apps other than Apple's own has not been good. I tried a shareware thing called maintenance, and let it do only the default cleaning - it probably did this OK, but the Mac seemed much slower in starting up afterwards...
It reminded me of all those awful years slaving away with a Windows PC every time I tried some new wonder tool; There's a lesson to be learned in there somewhere:-)

Some emailed attachments wont open

My Outlook 2011 which used to work fine has just started to corrupt pdf attachments. I use Preview.app as a default viewer. I have tried to open them in adobe but this dosen't work either. So It seems that certain types of pdfs are corrupted by 2011 Outlook. Does anyone have any ideas how to circumnavigate this so that I can go back to just clicking on the emailed attachment and having it open?

Some pdf files wont open error "this file is damaged and could not be repaired"

just recently this error has occured on a number of email pdf attachments
"there was an error oping this document. the file is damaged and could not be reapiared"
I am using Mozilla thunderbird and adobe reader 10.1.2.
I have forwarded the attachments to other edress's and get the same error
whn i download the attachment to my pc and check the properties
the general tab gives the file size etc but the PDF tab is empty except for
Fast Web View NO and Pdf version 0.0

The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode. Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

After following those steps, you should be able to restore your iPhone.

I upgraded to snow lepord and now when i try to open some of my pictures i get a "!". the pictures show in the thumbnails, so I know the are there but the wont open

Have you delete any original photos recently?
What version of iPhoto?
Back up your iPhoto library, Depress and hold the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library database

Some websites are working some wont open

firefox wont open google or my sky email but will open sky main page?! ive cleared cache cookies etc no luck and run full avast scan..again no luck..now downloading panda activscan as recommended by firefox help but no luck so far. It will allow some other websites to open like ebay though??Any suggestions? thanks

First, try to update to Firefox 11, it does have alot of security fixes and other bugs.
Then, if you still are having other issues, read [[Websites look wrong]], does that help?

I did't have a problem clicking on the link. It is JavaScript perhaps you have JavaScript turned off Tools > Options > Content or perhaps NoScript extension.

Hello! My App store and some other preinstalled apps wont open. Please help!

I've recently started to use my Macbook Pro, and some apps won't open. I've tried to update the software many times, but it still won't open. I really wan't to buy Lion from App store, but (once again) it won't open.
I've also tried to use the Application Disc that comes with every Mac, put that doesn't work either, and when im trying the Software Update option it says no updates are availible.
When I last used my Macbook Pro, I started to delete some programs that took space on my harddrive, and some of these programs were App Store, iPhoto and iMovie etc. When I use the Application Disc, only iMovie and iPhoto(etc. other programs) are updated.
This shows up when I try to open App Store.

I am having a problem with my safari, or thats what i think the problem is, it wont open the website www.slimmingworld.com but will open every other website, its very strange, i know there isnt a problem with the website as i accessed it at work from a windows xp internet explorer with no problems, does anyone have any ideas???

Try Open DNS
Just click the computer icon and follow the instructions. I switched to Open DNS several years ago and no problem opening sites... hope it works for you.

IPAD WONT OPEN SOME WEBSITES!!?!?!?

My ipad 3 never had this problem before. A few days ago i went on one of my favorite websites, hetalia.wikinet.org.(dont ask) it gave my info about characters from my favorite anime. Download Itunes from Apple.com, not from within Itunes.
Redo the install, following the below procedure. However, when you re-install Itunes, right click and run the install as administrator. For Win 7, you have to hold down the cntrl and shift keys when you right click and then "run as administrator" will be an option.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Vista, Win 7 & later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

hello im new to this so excuse me if im rambling.
Ive recently updated software when turning on my mac when it offered it automatically and now my itunes wont open. A box comes up saying " the application itunes quit unexpectedly. other applications are not affected. click reopen to open the application again" blah blah...
And of course it wont open if i repeatedly try.
Can any of you lot tell me what i can do to rectify this and save me a whopping £35.00 that apple isists on getting if you want any help from them via the old phone!

You did not indicate the name(s) of the automatic Software Update. Was it just an iTunes update?
Run the Repair Permissions (Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) then Restart your computer. Relaunch iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open, disconnect any Firewire/USB peripherals (except Mouse) and reinstall that same version from the Apple Downloads Website, then repeat the above Repair and Restart.
