Some concern about what jheadstart can do

Hello jheadstart team.
I'm in a company has a legacy Form 6i system. But we know that to 2017 Oracle does not support Form any more so we need to transit system to ADF. My manager ask me to research how does jheadstart conversion layout functions can do before we decided to buy licences version.
I watched on demo some sceen Jheadstart convert form to ADF but screen in my system is much more complexity than screen you make demo(I don't know Jheadstart can work with form screen what is many field and component as my system)
So can you help me make a demo transition layout of Form 6i to ADF?
If you can I will send you a Form of my system what you will transit and send me back adf layout to see the result.
Thank you so much.

JHS will do a rough conversion for you.  It will NOT do any PL/SQL code for you.  You will also be stuck with your existing data access design, for better or for worse.  If it were me, I'd use the converter as an idea of how to build the screen in JHS, and then build it up from a sound business components model.  You will be needing to tweak the JHS settings to adjust what is generated.  You will also need to add your custom PL/SQL logic.
Don't treat this as a silver bullet to magically convert your forms application to ADF..
Good luck!

  • Some question about what bdb can do?

1.I want to use it to index one or more field, and search it like this ' List<Object> res = primaryIndex.get("aeo*"); '
2.I want to list all primaryIndex by Cursor, and will it become slow or crush when there are lots of threads are listing.(ex: primaryIndexs are more than 10,000,000)
3.I heard if use SecondaryIndex, insert will become very slow when we have to many primaryIndexs (ex:more than 60,000,000)
I will do some test after these weekend, and some suggestion will make it more efficient.
    thank you for read this.

    Hi,
    Some suggestions for your question:
    1. I think you prefer to using DPL, right? You can refer to the DPL API (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17277_02/html/java/com/sleepycat/persist/package-summary.html) for how to index java object with multiple fields.
    2. Do you mean you will create more than 10,000,000 PrimaryIndexes to handle the data? What kinds of operations do these huge number of PrimaryIndexes will take? Do they only do read operation? Or do they do both read and write operations? If the latter, it does cause concurrency problem. I think you can configure the isolation levels to improve your performance. Please refer to isolation levels (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17277_02/html/TransactionGettingStarted/isolation.html).
    3. The same with question 2. With too many PrimaryIndexes, doing write operation will cause serious concurrency problem.
Another suggestion is that, before you doing your testing, it is worth increasing your jvm cache size, and use enhanced DPL (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17277_02/html/java/com/sleepycat/persist/model/ClassEnhancer.html).
There are some other suggestions for JE's performance in FAQ web page(http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/berkeleydb/je-faq-096044.html) under "Performance" section.
I think your tests for BDB JE is very interesting. We also look forward your testing results. Please keep us informed of your testing, and feel free to post your further questions here.
    Thanks.

  • I have some concerns about places my teen is visiting on the internet.  The history is always cleaned and i am wondering if there is a way to see what websites have been visit throught the airport router? thanks

Hi pretty self expalanotory as in the title.  I just want to know if there is a way to access website history that is maybe stored right on the router.  Any assistance woudl be appreciated.  I am not just a nosy Dad but I am very concerned about unsafe activity that my son may be researching. Thank you.

.there is no way to access historical website history on the router
    Correct
but if I installed OpenDNS then I could track sites visited?
Correct, but you may need to install some software on each computer that you want to be able to monitor in the household. OpenDNS will walk you through the setup.
If you want to go back in time, there are also professional applications (read very expensive) that will reveal the browsing history of a given computer.....even if the browsing history has been erased by the user.
You will have to have physical access to the computer to use these applications. Post back if you need a few names.

  • Some concern about Live cache Homogeneous System copy

    Hi All,
I need to do the Homogeneous system copy SCM 5.0 / Live cache 7.6.00 on AIX. Following are the Source and target System SID for Live cache. Moreover I had check the respective SAP note 457425 and 877203 but still having some concern.
    Source System
    Live cache SID           =      SCD
Live cache user ID      =      SAPSCD
Live Database instant software owner = scdadm
Live cache Data Size      =  8 GB ( 4 Data volume / 2 GB each / auto extend off)
    Target System
    Live cache SID           =      SCT
Live cache user ID      =      SAPSCT
Live Database instant software owner = sctadm
Live cache Data Size      =  4 GB ( 2 Data volume / 2 GB each / auto extend off)
For same I having following concern.
    1.     Since there is difference between source system and target system size / data volume number what action I need to take on target system. Do I need to add two more data volume into the target system?
    2.     After complication of database restore on target the system do I need to change the Live cache user ID (i.e. SAPSCD to SAPSCT)?
    or
It is just fine to change the log on data in “Integration” tab in LC10.
Please let me know some more information on same.
    Thanks,
    Harshal

    Hello Harshal,
"1. Since there is difference between source system and target system size / data volume number what action I need to take on target system. Do I need to add two more data volume into the target system?"
Please pay attention to the SAP note :: 457425    Homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore
Please update the thread withy additional information ::
What is the version of the source liveCache? What is the version of the target liveCache?
How much data do you have in the source liveCache?
And you need to have the size data area of the target liveCache to be able to restore the databackup created in the source liveCache.
So by the size of the data volumes in the source liveCache, it's not clear how much data you have.
"2. After complication of database restore on target the system do I need to change the Live cache user ID (i.e. SAPSCD to SAPSCT)?"
Please review the SAP note 877203.
You could rename the user SAPSCD to SAPSCT using the SAP note 877203 steps
    OR
You could have the user SAPSCD in the target liveCache as Standard liveCache user &
After you run the homogenous liveCache copy using backup/restore procedure you need
to change the LCA/LDA/LEA connection with user SAPSCD on target system and
set the user SAPSCD to the user containers  ( please see the SAP note 616555 for more details )
Before to restart the liveCache in LC10.
PS: Please pay attention about the value of the liveCache parameter _UNICODE.
What are the values of this parameter in the source & target liveCache?
Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • I have been trying to open the itunes store unsuccessfully.  I have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled.  My firewall is not blocking.  I'm at a loss about what I can do.

Please, I need help getting into the itunes store.  I've tried everything.  Even had a computer forensics expert take a look and he could not figure out the problem.

It worked for me, for iTunes Store and Safari both!
They were overloading my CPU heavily, esp with some background services. And all the web pages stayed blank. So, I've found this solution:

Once it opens, type in the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    hit enter
    (then wait for some time)
You should get a message that the winsock reset successful and you will need to reboot your computer.
Reboot and when I reloaded itunes the store loaded fine.

  • I was given a gift of an iPhone 5s in Saudi Arabia. I took it to Verizon who said they could not hook up the phone. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do with the phone?  It is new and unopened

I was gifted an I phone 5s in Saudi Arabia. Took it to the Verizon store. The sales rep told me I could not use it.  Any suggestions?

If it's a legitimately unlocked iPhone, you can use it on AT&T or T-Mobile if you like. You can not bring your own iPhone to any CDMA carrier (Verizon, Sprint, etc).
If it was originally sold in the Middle East, Facetime is permanently disabled.

  • HT5193 I want to use Apple TV in a hospital classroom setting and IT is concerned about security (patient information). Is this an issue and how can I put them at ease?

I want to use the Apple TV to create an interactive white board type setting in the classroom. I appreciate the help.

My first reply was probably a bit vague but it's not clear exactly what you're planning to do.
Anyhow first off, remember this is simply a user to user forum and is not an Apple staffed technical advice area so no one here can accept any responsibility for the implementation you attempt.
If you intend to do anything that could potentially compromise patient confidentiality you must get appropriate advice from suitable agencies including your IT dept and probably Apple itself. Depending which country you are in you will be subject to local healthcare laws aimed at protecting patient confidentiality.
As users we know next to nothing about AppleTV under the hood security.
AppleTV runs a version of iOS just like iPhones and iPads.
There is no antivirus/firewall software for iOS as it's already pretty locked down.
That does not mean it is 100% secure as nothing is, and all these devices can potentially be hacked.
AppleTV itself does not store any content permanently, losing data when it's unplugged, so that is probably not an issue unless someone was going to attempt a forensic style data rescue from the internal components.
If your IT dept allows iPhones or iPads on the network then in principle it's the same, and in many ways less of an issue as it doesn't support 3rd party apps, only a small selection of features from Apple and selected partners.
I assume for your whiteboard plan this would entail using a touch screen like an iPad for mirroring.  Be aware that fullscreen mirroring will send a 4:3 image to the display as the iPad screen is 4:3 not 16:9 (widescreen).
You need to work with your IT dept to assess the feasibility of what you want to do - unless you need internet access, to me it would seem a standalone local network without internet connectivity might remove some concerns about devices connecting to the main hospital network.  Maybe their concern is simply wifi and possible interecption of data sent to the AppleTV - this would likely be a proprietary screen sharing format for Airplay but it could still potentially be intercepted on wifi though I can't really see why anyone would want to as the data would probably be pretty useless to them unless this was a specific attempt to capture Airplay streams and people knew what they were doing and had compromised your wifi security.
    Good luck.

Just today, when synching my iphone 4 with my mac, on itunes, I realized that it was not every completing the synch. • Why Flex: What Flex can do, but HTML/AJAX can not?

I want to understand the position of Flex in RIA competition. I used Flex because of AdvancedDataGrid and the Charts. It is impossible for HTML to do some thing like these.
The Transition Effects are nice, but not important in enterprise environment. The initial loading time of Flex is much longer than that of HTML although Flex is more reponsive than HTML/AJAX after Flex is loaded.
    Any comments?

It's not always about what it can or can't do--a lot of this is about doing the same thing better.  And think about the origins of Ajax--it's basically a hack.  I know the same can be said about a lot of technologies (even the Internet itself), but why use something that is essentially a hack when you have technology that was engineered for the purpose you have in mind?  Building hacks and fixes upon more hacks and fixes is how we end up with a pile of junk at the end of the day in IT.  It's time to start calling things what they are, hacks, if they are that.
Flex has better performance, if you make use of AMF.
HTML and Ajax can't use AMF and has no counterpoint in this area. AMF is much faster than the crummy Ajax hack can muster (especially once you start throwing crap like Dojo into the mix).
    http://www.jamesward.com/blog/2007/12/12/blazebench-why-you-want-amf-and-blazeds/
Check AMF times compared to JSON Ajax times, bandwidth.
Flex doesn't care about the user's browser.  Sure, the HTML/Ajax hack has frameworks to help you deal with that, but do you really want to worry about upgrading that trash (or framework bugs) when a new version of IE, or Opera, or Firefox, or Chrome, or Safari, or even another browser comes out and breaks something?  A newer version of Flash won't break a Flex app.  Also, other than Chrome, other browser JavaScript implementations are slow, slow, slow.  The more complex your Ajax app gets, the slower it will become--that's lame.
User experience. A well designed Flex UI is much nicer and easier to use than even the best "JavaScript/DHTML" hackfest.  Just look at these new Adobe forums--JavaScript out the wazoo and they suck on anything other than Google Chrome.   It's useful for marketing too--not just for commercial stuff, but marketing to upper management for enterprise applications.  Everyone that looks at a well designed Flex app will be blown away by it.  And then you get your pay raise.  (lol - assuming it works, too)
Superior development experience and development time.  Using Flex Builder you can mock up an entire "seemingly functional" prototype application within a ridiculous amount of time.  You can even run it without a back end or a server of any kind, just a standalone Flash player or browser.  You also have the GUI design mode, that shows you exactly what the user is going to see in the browser--no matter what browser they have, no matter what their settings are, etc.  No more HTML crap to deal with or (God forbid) tehnologies like JSP to generate your dinosaur code.  Documentation goes from the kludge of junk out there for HTML/Ajax/JS/etc to the excellent and very Javadoc-like ASdoc.
And no more choosing between the dozens of hacky and crummy Ajax "framework" patchworks out there, that are needed to workaround all the problems you'd run into without a framework.
That's just what I can recall at the moment.  I will NEVER go back to that God-awful Ajax/HTML hackfest people are calling RIA development.  Sure, Flex has it's issues and downsides too, but they aren't usually major enough to be of concern, even in an enterprise environment.
BTW - It's not really Flex vs. HTML/Ajax.
It's more like Flex vs. HTML/DHTML and AMF vs. Ajax/JSON.  But, Flex can talk to Ajax too, and it can even be embedded in HTML.  Although personally I feel that's a bastardization of the technologies, sometimes I guess people have a need to do these things.

  • Concerns about Using Aperature

My wife is a professional photographer. I provide her technical support. We use a competitive image database product today. We are both curious about Aperature. But, I have some concerns about how it will work for us.
These concerns arise first from the fact that Aperature, like iPhoto, uses a single library to manage all of its images. Our current tool lets us save image info into separate database files.
The benefits to these separate files are signficant. The first, is that it frees her from editing the shots from every shoot in the database. For, the database is a reference tool to be used well after jobs are finished (say to build a specialized mini-portfolio for a client). As a result, our workflow has us dumping every image into the db, regardless of quality. Occasionally, we quickly flag those of special value.
Since it keeps everythign in a single file, I worry that Aperture would satisfactorily handle the 5 terrabytes of images she has shot in the last year, plus those which preceded it. Is there some convenient way to segment the data?
Also, she tends to work on laptops (right now, G4s, since Photoshop is so slow on Intel). I was under the impression that Aperture requires a pretty high powered computer. Will it run satisfatorily with a large db on a G4 laptop?
Lastly, she uses a Phase One back. I don't see Phase One RAW format as one of those supported by Aperature. Does it work with Phase One?
    Thanks,
    Gary
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Aperture currently allows you to specify the library file it will use when it starts up. The setting is in the preferences screen. This allows you to use different libraries for different purposes. The limitation is that only one library can only be one library open at a time. I don't know why they don't have a normal File Open option in the menu. This would be easier.
Creating additional libraries is also a workaround since there is no New Library command. There are a variety of ways to do it. The easiest is to just make a copy of the empty library Aperture installs in your system by default and copy that every time you need a new library file. It's inconvenient, but not too bad since you only have to do it once in a while and it only takes a few seconds if you have the empty library to copy from handy...

  • What else can the x-fi do?

Hi guys just bought a flute and was thinking about doing some recording. anyway i got a x-fi fatality with the drive bay and everything so i have every connection under the sun but i need some reading to do as to what exactly i can do with this soundcard. i got it for games and movies mostly but now would like to do some recording with it so would like some info on what i can do and where to start really.
    Cheers.
    Ellimist

I think with your card, you be able to do everything what you can do w/ any other card + you can have some hardware features not common for std sound cards. What you need for recording the flute is a good pre-amplified microphone. If needed, all background music (drums/piano/bass/guitar/strings/synths/etc./etc.) can be done through MIDI + VSTi/DXi/soundfonts or by using samples/loops.
For recording you are after, just download some ASIO/VST capable recording software and read the user's guide bundled w/ it.
Cockos Reaper + VST/DX plug-ins listed @ KVR would be a good starting setup.
W/ some older card models Creative included a guide named as "Music Creation Guide". You could find all necessary information for recording and certain software normally used for recording.

    - google for soundfont downloads (there are plenty of sites offering free soundfonts)

  • I am concerned about the health of my current computer but have not yet made the commitment to a new one, but: 1) How can I transfer my iTunes account to a new computer when I get one... and 2) What can I do if my current computer suddenly implodes and I

    I am a bit of a computer/Internet/iTunes dummy....
I am concerned about the health of my current computer but have not yet made the commitment to a new one, but:
    1) How can I transfer my iTunes account to a new computer when I get one...
    and
    2) What can I do if my current computer suddenly implodes and I have not yet 'copied/'saved'/otherwise protected my account, as is? -- I have already had my computer crash once and had one of your people help me restore all of the paid for songs (none of the uploaded from my own collection of CD songs, of course, so I had to spend a long time rebuilding that) -- and I believe I was told you could only help me recover that material one or two times altogether, no?
WithOUT purchasing a Mach or iCloud (I actually think I have one of the later, but rarely have checked it) account, is there anything I can do to responsibly protect my account?
Thanks for any time taken on this!!!

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.
