Some devices won't connect to wifi network after resetting network settings to default

Hi all,
I had to restore to the default settings on my 4th generation Time Capsule today and now half of our devices will not connect to the wifi network.  The macbook pro (mid 2010 OS 10.9.4) that I used to reset the time capsule with and my iPhone 6 (8.0.2) both can connect just fine.  However, our household's two iPad Airs (8.0.2), an iPhone 4s (iOS 7) and a Macbook (late 2009 OS 10.6.8) all can't connect to the internet.  The macbook connects to the network, but an exclamation point appears over the wifi symbol.  The two iPads and the 4s won't even connect to the network.  I initially named the network the same as before with the same password, but then changed it thinking that might be the issue, to no avail.  I've restarted the Time Capsule and all the devices that can't connect.  I've also made them forget the network and try to rejoin.  The router is connecting with DHCP, it is in bridge mode while connected to a cable modem, and the wireless security is set to WPA/WPA2 Personal.
I'm at my wit's end.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your cable modem is a pure modem the TC must be in router mode.. ie DHCP and NAT.
It is easy to find out.. check the IP you get on the WAN of the TC in airport utility.
Your limit is because only one or two public IP are available.
If that is the not the problem please give more info.
What modem do you have??
And give some screenshots of the setup .. summary page from the TC and network and Internet tabs.

  • IPhone 5 won't connect to wifi. Already reset network settings and reset the whole phone.

iPhone 5, updated to most recent iOS. Will not connect to wifi at any location, home, work, mall. I have tried resetting the network connections, restarted the phone, even backed it up and completely reset the whole thing. I have to be sitting on top of the router to even get connected, and even then it will disconnect constantly. I used to be able to get full connection even on the other side of the house. Started out of no where, can't even find the network at home to try to connect to. It's not a problem with the routers because no one else is having a problem. It's driving me crazy.

have you tried updating the drivers on your modem?

  • My iphone 5s won't connect to wifi, i've reset the network setting multiple times and it's still now working.

When I got back from vacation my iPhone stopped to connecting to my home Wi-Fi, also it won't connect to any other Wi-Fi. It will not notify me when I have available networks to connect to. I've reset the network setting countless times and still nothing is working.

Try restoring your phone, first from a backup & then as a new phone.
If you still have issues after restoring as new, the phone has a hardware issue and needs to be replaced. You'll have to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated.

  • OSX Mavericks won't connect to Wifi automatically after recent (security) patch.

After the recent OSX Mavericks software update I am having wifi connectivity issues. My MBP (retina) won't connect to my preferred wifi automatically and I have to do it manually. Am I the only one having issues after the update and are there any fixes?

I am also having the same behavior, after updating to 10.9.3 WIFI won't reconnect.
I have to turn-off wifi, then turn-on wifi to get connected.

The result I found was that when I connect my iPad to my Mac and iTunes automatically opens, iTunes updates / sync my iPad.  When I disconnect the iPad after the sync, my apps no longer work.  howerver, if I delete one app and then go to the apple store and reload the same app,  All of my aps work again.  I hav

  • Replaced airport, some devices won't connect.

I replaced my airport express with a new one. My ipad's and macbooks connect to it, but my iphone and my ROKU won't. Any ideas?  I've reset the network settings on iphone, no luck, reset the network a million times with every different setting I can think of, no luck. Help?

Thank you for your suggestion, but it ahs resulting in longer having the network on my imac either. I may just start again from sqaure one. I just hope this isn't a persistent problem. Very disappointing.

  • Ever since I updated to the ios7 my iPhone 4s won't connect with wifi. Ive reset it and gone through all the steps  When I took it to the Apple store they said its a hardware issue and since my phone is over a year old there isnt anything they can do

why wouldn't they warn users that updating to ios 7 via wifi can cause a problem.

ive had the same with my wife phone, the phone provider wont help told me to go to apple, but they say because i did'nt buy from them go to where you bought which was my provider??

  • IOS devices and Exchange won't connect over Wifi

Neither my ipad nor my iphone 5 will connect with my exchange server over my wifi network.  The problem is limited to IOS devices on wifi and Exchange.  The phone will connect with exchange over the cellular network.  My windows laptop works fine over wifi with exchange and everything else.  The ipad and iphone will connect to wifi and have no problems with web browsing, gmail, etc.  I've used both devices successfully for months and the problem started yesterday.  I did not do any IOS updates yesterday.
iPad and iPhone are both on IOS 7.0.4
The message on the screen:  Cannot Get Mail.  Server error.  Contact your server administrator.
It also says:  Cannot Get Mail.  The connection to the server failed.
    What I've tried:
Resetting network settings (only tried on iPad, since it didn't work)
Powering off each device then turning back on
Powered down the wireless router and powered back up
Confirmed with the exhange hosting company (GoDaddy) that they've made no changes

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Devices won't connect to password protected WiFi

As MANY others apple devices won't connect to my WiFi, but only when it is locked by a password.....
I have tried everything I've seen on here & I am beyond fed-up.
I have a 5c, but when others have visited with their iphone or ipad it also does not work.
Before the update it said 'unable to connect to network,' now it says 'incorrect password.'
This all began months ago when I replaced my router with COX. My laptop works completely fine...
My iphone will connect, but only when the network is NOT password protected. I live in a condo, so
it isn't an option for me to leave it unlocked.
Please help I will try anything! Also I am not a 'techy' so if you ask me something complicated
    I may need some guidance.
    Thanks

  • IPad won't connect to WiFi network, but macbook pro & iphones will.

Both of my iPhones and my Macbook Pro easily connect to the wi-fi network. I feel like I've tried everything to get my iPad to connect. It used to connect perfectly fine and I'd watch Netflix, but then it started crashing. I work for a non-profit so it's a company network, not my personal one, but it's the only network I have considering I live here! Such a pain!
    I've reset my network settings.
    I've click "Forget Network"
I've done a hard reset of the iPad multiple times.
    NOTHING WORKS.

  • "another device is using the same ip address.." - iOS devices won't connect to AEBS wifi.

I've got a Motorola modem/gateway - 3360 from WalMart.  I have the AEBS working in bridge mode connecting my iMac & Printer fine, but my iOS devices won't connect.
While troubleshooting & trying all types of settings, I was able to get EITHER the iMac or the iOS devices connected to internet, but not both at same time.
Then I noticed I am getting "another device is using the same ip address.." message.
I have changed the AEBS ip address & had been able to get either the iMac or iOS devices working depending on which ip address I use.
BUT now, all my iOS devices dont connect to the internet regardless of the ip address of the AEBS.
All my iOS devices see the network, and accept the network password, but they do not connect to internet, circle just keeps spinning...
    Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Dave

It looks like may have to go back to square one and delete my network & set it up from scratch if I don't figure it out.
If you do go this route, I would like to make a suggestion for your consideration, and that is to assign static IP addresses to devices that are "permanent" on your network or ones you want to make sure can be reachable at all times. These (again) would be servers, routers, wireless access points, network printers/scanners, NAS devices, etc.
I would recommend the following IP addressing scheme as a baseline and you are certainly free to deviate in any way you see fit to meet your networking requirements:
Reduce the number of IP handed out by DHCP. By default, most routers will provide 100-200 private IP addresses within their DHCP leasing scope. The AirPort, by default, assigns 10.0.1.2 thru 10.0.1.200 via DHCP. Your Motorola may assign 192.168.0.2 thru 192.168.0.150. Either way, I would reduce this to no more than fifty (50) total which should provide you with plenty of addresses even if you are hosting gaming convention at your home.
I use the following IP address scheme for the "permanent" network clients:
    Network Printers: 10.0.1.200 - 209
    NAS Devices: 10.0.1.210 - 219
Wireless Access Points or routers reconfigured as bridges: 10.0.1.220 - 229
    Servers: 10.0.1.230 - 239
With the "permanent" devices pre-assigned with static Private IP address that are outside of the DHCP range, you shouldn't ever get an IP address conflict again.
