Some dropdown menues from many different sites display garbage.

Some Drop down menus on many different web sites show garbage characters - paypal, quotes.insurance33.com, etc. It looks like special ANSI characters or non-text unicode characters. The websites show UTF-8 encoding.

Could you post a screen shot or two with examples of what you see? This article has tips on that: [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]
If you manually change the encoding does that fix the menus?
tap the Alt key > View menu > Character Encoding > Western (ISO-8859-1)

Try below steps once
click Gear icon on the top Right corner and Quit Creative Cloud App
Click on Finder and then hold Command + Shift + G keys on your keypad
It will open Go to folder window, type exactly ~/Library and click on Go
Make sure to open ~/Library not /Library ( there will be two Library folders )
Then open Application Support > Adobe folders
Trash AAMUpdater and OOBE folders.
Then launch Creative Could and check.

one can assume that you are not very experienced with DW or
even with HTML.
In that case, the practical answer to your question would be
"no".
To create a 'drop-down' menu, you need to have a full web
page (not just an
image with image maps), containing a menu HTML structural
element. While
you *could* just place hidden elements on the page that would
only be
revealed (i.e., drop-down) when your image maps are rolled
over, the
practical reality is that this would be an extremely awkward
construct, and
not only most likely beyond the ken of someone who is
inexperienced, but
also just plain 'not right'.

Distribution Monitor for 2 different servers from 2 different sites

Hello all,
We are trying to use Distribution Monitor during a parallel Unicode Conversion on a SAP 4.7 system.
The source system and target system are 2 different servers located on 2 different sites (more than 500Kms distant).
Questions:
1. Can we use Distribution Monitor with 1 source server dedicated for the Export and 1 target server dedicated for the import of a package?
2. If it is not possible, what are the constraints in fact?
3. Can we have a scenario where Distribution Monitor is used on the source system in order to use the parallelism benefit and Migration Monitor used on the target system?

In order to use Distribution monitor, u need minimum two application servers on source systems and correspondingly atleast minimum two application servers on target system
For example let us say Application server A and Application server B on sources systems and Application Server C and Application server D on target ytem
Then configure Distribution monitor properties to include two application servers as source systems and two application servers as target systems. When u exeute distribution monitor preparation, first it scan database servers in source system nd target system and then scan CI servers in source and target system. Then Packages will be distributed in two application servers A and B
Run Export from Application server A for first fifty packages , at the same time Run import these first fifty packages in Application Server C
Run Export from Application Server B for other remining packages and at the same time , run import the remaining packages into Application Server D.
(that is one to one correspondence)
2. If it is not possible, what are the constraints in fact? - There is no constraints. However there is lots of time consuming during Distribution monitor preparation and checking.

You cannot mix distribution monitor tool for source system and Migration tool used on target system.
You have to use any one tool depending on the size of database used.
if your database size used is very very large then recommend to use distribution monitor where u in sou can have multiple R3load jobs in each application server. Say Application server A use 20 R3load jobs and Application server B use 15 r3load jobs).

Yes. Create the style you want to use and save it to the
Styles panel.
With the new style selected, open the Styles panel menu and
choose
Export styles. Export to the Fireworks Nav Menu folder. On my
machine
that's located at
C:\Documents and Settings\Linda Rathgeber\Application
Data\Macromedia\Fireworks 8\Nav Menu
Once you have saved the new style there, it will appear in

Populating my dropdown menu from MySQL database using jsp

I my database i have a table of users and i want everytime a user is added the dropdown menu gets updated, this is make updating of user's profile easy. I tried the one bellow but still get me 80 errors:

I'm not a fan of writing muddled jsp pages that refer to the database layer. If you're willing to learn JSF or some other web framework, you'll being able to write better code and never use a scriptlet again.

HT3131 Why doesn't Apple mention using the Display control panel's "Arrange" feature to move the menu from the Macbook's display to the EXTERNAL display? THAT'S the real answer to make Clamshell mode work, but it's not mentioned in any Apple documentation

After a recent OS update, Clamshell mode quit working. I couldn't find any Apple documentation
that would help. So many people were stabbing around in the dark, until I finally found the following information
that is lacking from any Apple documentation that I've been able to find.
Here's what I found to be the most helpful:
Forcing a MacBook to use the External Monitor:
I tried about everything: Rebooting, switching off completely, removing and inserting the Thunderbolt->HDMI adapter etc.
The only thing that finally worked was the following:
1. Take it out of the dock and connect to Power and HDMI to the TV.
Shut down the Mac. Turn it on and close the lid. It will now boot up on the external screen.
Log onto the Mac, and put it in sleep mode (Option-Command-Eject).
Put it back into the dock and wake it up with the spacebar.
It should be OK now... until the next update...
Note: One indication that you’re going to have extreme trouble with this is when (occasionally and without reason) the Mirroring Options icon shows up on the top icon bar.
Other useful commands:
“Command + F1” puts PC in Two-Screen MIRROR mode.
If it’s REALLY being stubborn, do the following (Clamshell Must be open
to see the arrangement tab.):
In System Preferences > Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Firefox 4 (Not Responding) on many different sites.

Never had a serious problem with any previous version of Firefox. Since upgrading to 4, I get (Not Responding) regularly when attempting to load pages on many websites that I use regularly. After several minutes, Firefox gives up trying, and becomes responsive again. If I click the same link, I get the same result. If I immediately try the same link in IE, it responds immediately without error. Back to Firefox - same non-response. I have done everything suggested on this site including reinstalling Firefox without any addons. I am really frustrated.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

Is it Possible to move the Dropdown Menu to a different layer than the rest of the menu?

For design reasons I want the dropdown part of my menu to appear as though it is coming out from underneath the banner of the menu. The best way I can figure to do that is to have the dropdown part of the menu (that occurs on rollover) be placed on a separate layer from the main banner menu. Is this possible? I have tried unlocking everything and moving that part to another layer and haven't been successful. Please help this gal out! Thank you!

I'm still confused as to how I can do this exactly. I have used the tool tip widget to create my own drop down menus. However, I cannot put the trigger point into a different layer than the layer with the drop down menu. How can I make the actual word "accommodations" into the trigger point for this menu? I tried moving the trigger point from the widget over the Accommodations, but in order for the drop down to come out from under the banner, the trigger is under it as well. I've also tried ungrouping them, but I am not successful. Please give me further detail as to how this works!

I say 'folder' - I cant think of a better terminology
I can asign 'Master' as a keyword, but then this only create 'Master' under that event
I want it to be outside of any even and exist on its own

Since I've updated to iOS5, my first-gen iPad has trouble with Safari. It crashes frequently, while I'm on many different sites. Any ideas? Thanks.

How about this for irony .... As I was typing my response to you, Safari crashed on me for the 5th time today! Yes the issues has been reported many times on this discussion site.
These are the basic recommended fixes. Start with the reset Safari tip - the last one listed. Good luck!

In IE, hitting the 'F4' button would cause a 'dropdown' menu of recent web sites in the address bar; what is the Firefox equivalent of this?

Hitting 'F4' in IE would display recently visited web sites under the address bar. This made it easy to use the keyboard (rather than the mouse); once the list web sites appeared, you could use the cursor buttons to move to the site you wanted, and hit enter. I can't find a similar feature in Firefox; instead, I have to mouse up to the Awesome Bar, click the little down arrow, and choose.

You should do all the database logic inside the request handler then save the collections of select list in HttpSession and at last iterate throught that collections using JSTL or STRUTS
