Some Dust behind the LCD

Hi, I seems to be having some dust behind my LCD. I cant clean it. But when I look at it from an angle, I cant see the dust, so I dont think is a dead pixel. Will apple help me clean it up? Or exchange for another screen? Its not like a lot of dust... just like 3 of them.... and its very irritating.
Do you guys think Apple will help me out?

My new MacBook Pro has the same issue... Fortunately it's pretty small (and off to the side), and since everything else is working well, I'm probably going to leave it alone for now...
This is indicative of some sloppy construction though...

  • Pearl has dust behind the screen

I dont know how it happened, but my pearl has dust behind the screen. Does anyone
know how to remove the screen so I can clean it.
    Thanks,
    Joe

Joe, If the phone is out of warrantee and/or do don't want to go through the enormous hassle of replacing your blackberry there is another alternative. I have done this several times myself but I would recommend that you be mechanically inclined. Although the surgery is very easy some blackberry models have retention clips that need to be pushed aside with a very smal screw driver like one you would buy for repairing sunglasses etc. I do not have a pearl so I am not much help giving you specifics about that particular phone..
Go to ebay and look for cellular phone repair tools. There are dozens of sellers, just look for a Torx kit. Inside the battery compartment you will find four torx screws that you will need to remove. Once they are removed the back of the phone pops off. Depending on your model the phones sometimes come apart in layers (like the 8700). So after the first layer you may need to remove more torx screws to get inside to the screen. Be careful when splitting the phone apart as small pieces will be loose inside like the volume and push to talk buttons. You will need to careful put these back in place when re-assembling the phone. Once the phone is split apart you should easily be able to clean the screen and the inside from dust. Just use an old tooth brush.
Although this whole procedure is not overly difficult for me, it is not for everyone. So please proceed with caution and under your own risk.
On another note this is the same procedure if your phone ever get water damage. I have a neighbor that thought it was hilarious to throw people into the pool during a drunkin haze (thankfully he stopped drinking...). Twice he did it to me with my phone still firmly attached to my waist. After doing a terrific impression of a Marlin trying to shake a fisherman's hook my phone still had water pouring from it and vibrating like crazy. I immediately took out the battery and took the phone completely apart. I then set all the parts EXCEPT THE LCD and the CLEAR PLASTIC WINDOW on a cookie sheet.  All you are trying to do is dry the electronics. Cell phones are all rated for fairly high temperatures  in case you were to leave it in the car on a hot summer afternoon. I then set the oven to preheat at 150 degrees. Once it was preheated I turned the oven off and let sit for a minute with the door cracked. Then I put the cookie sheet into the oven and closed the door. I let it sit until the oven had completely cooled down. Re-assembled the phone and presto it worked just fine until the next time he threw me in. If you want to be completely safe you can put the unassembled phone on your car dash which works as well. So long as there is little humidity and good amount of heat but not above 200 degrees.
    Good luck...

  • Dust under the LCD cover, sticky/non-responsive keyboard..

    Hello,
I've been trying to find information on this.
I purchased this phone, outright, from Bell when they finally started selling it a couple of weeks ago.  Since then, the phone has aquired a large amount of dust under the LCD cover (and continues to do so).  The keys sometimes "stick" or feel like they cannot be pushed down (but are registering).
I contacted my carrier, Bell, over the phone and the CSR told me to go into a local Bell store to get it checked out.
I went to my local Bell store and a worker there told me that I can't get it exchanged and that I should just open the phone myself to clean out the dust and check the keyboard.
    Is this right?
They're telling me to void the warranty on this brand new phone regarding problems I'm having with it.  Does anyone have any tips on what I should do about this?
My previous phone (which was a Pearl 8130 that I had for 3 years) didn't collect any dust under the LCD screen and had no keyboard issues.

your warranty and support is through your carrier you need to be firm and explain it better to them your issue. You should not have dust on the LCD so soon with a new device (unless it is damaged) as for sticky keys, i never had a sticky key with the hundreds of devices we have unless some one spilled something on it. If it is a factory defect, again you have to get this taken care of with your carrier and they are the first line in warranty support.
    Good Luck.

  • Dust *inside* the LCD screen?

Hi folks, when I shut down my Late 2008 15.4" MBP, I notice there is an increasing amount of dust under the glossy plastic surface, but on top of the actual LCD screen - between the two layers.
When I turn the machine on, I don't see it, but I'm afraid over time its going to get worse and eventually be visible when the machine is turned on.
Has anyone else had this problem?

I have exactly the same problem and mine is a early 2008 model. Two months ago, there were only 2 dots and now I can see almost a dozen. Some look like dust, some look like fungus.
Did you have the problem solve? and how?

  • Dust Behind the Screen

Hi I have the 2006 Intel 20in iMAC, and I have Dust particles that got behind the screen, Let me see if I can explain this well enough, They are behind the screen, and it looks as if something is On the screen, like a Smudge, but really if you look close it's behind the display like in between the screen and the backlight, is there a Way to take it apart and clean it ?? I've taken this iMAC apart many time's to dust it out, and to change my Hard Drive, so I know what I'm doing when it comes to taking it apart, I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem, I tend to carry the Computer with me allot, in my iLUGGER Carrying case, so I'm assuming that's how the Dust gets In-Between the screen. Just wanted to know if there is any Take-Apart Tutorials just for the screen itself ? Or if one of those Can's of AIR would somehow get it out ?

  • IPhone 6 dust behind the screen even with protection

    Good evening,
Only 10 days after I bought my new iPhone 6 - Gray space - 16 GB, with a tempered glass protection (perfectly set, no bubbles, no dust between the tempered glass protection and the iPhone screen), plus a plastic cover around the phone, I realised, this afternoon that a particle of dust appeared all of a sudden on the middle of the screen, about 5mm long... impossible to remove....
As it can not appear between the tempered protection and the screen after 10 days (in my opinion), I can imagine that it is below the iPhone 6 screen, and it seems like it already happen to other iPhone 6 users...
Any tips to remove this dust ?
    Thanks a lot!

    Thanks for the help...
How to properly remove the protection without making any damages to the phone? Cause this is a new protection and the glue must be very sticky to the screen...
How to know the area of warranty ?  As I am travelling a lot, it is very difficult for me to return to the store where I bought my iPhone 6... But the phone seller told me that the warranty was by zone (here is south east asia), and it depends on a number behind the phone... Is that true? Will they change the phone directly if the dust is under the screen, or will I have to wait few days before picking up my new phone?
    Thank you

  • Macbook pro Dust behind LCD- is it a common issue ?

    Hello… I am a little bit embarassed. I haver a very nice and perfect MBP 15,4" Glossy…
It recently developed a haze gray cloud behind the display… It was an imperfection which developed into a nuissance, since i am a graphics designer and I definitely need a good picture and a perfect screen for working. All went well… I got the display changed 3 weeks ago.
Yesterday I realized that the new display has issues too… It seems like real dust particles are now placed behind the LCD screen. I am not working in dusty environments or something like that.
Is is that Apple Screens aren't sealed anymore that way they were before. I used to use a powerbook 17" for 2 years… in the same way and in the same enviroments… and never had any issue with that. What could be the cause for that? Cheaper production? Lacking QA?
And it seems that only MBP's are affected… I have already searched forums everywhere… and until now iI have found only MBP users who complained on that issue.

I've had dust buildup on the bottom of my screen since May of this year but it never really bothered me enough to do anything about it. Then in September I went to the Apple Store and just asked one of the Geniuses there (without my computer) what might be causing it and what I should do. His response was "oh just get a can of compressed air and blow it out." Which I finally did yesterday, and now all the dust (and hair) that was at the bottom of my screen is now all across the middle of my screen.
So I went to the Apple Store (different one) today and asked what could be done, they said they'd replace it but it would cost $300 because I didn't have Apple Care. Then I was told that I couldn't purchase it because my computer was 14 months old.
Now normally I'm fine with paying for problematic things, but the fact that I wouldn't have had as major a problem if I DIDN'T listen to the 1st Genius' advice. And then if Apple actually made it a point of saying that "Applecare cannot be purchased after 1 year" (the only mention is buried in the FAQ, not even the warranty PDF). Or even if they would accept the fact that the screen is moderately defective for allowing the dust to get in in the first place.
But all those things add up to quite possibly the most frustrating experience with Apple I've ever had. Because if they had just told me in the first place (don't know it with air, get applecare earlier) I wouldn't be writing this now.

  • Brand new Canon 5d mark ii has dust inside of the LCD screen.. !!!

Hello guys. I just received Canon 5d mark ii + 24-105mm lens kit in the mail couple of days ago. It's an amazing camera that will help to improve my work. I didn't want to use the camera until I received the screen protector and the UV filter to make sure that the camera is well protected.  (My previous SLR ended up having so many scratches on the LCD screen)
So today I received the screen protector. I was cleaning the Lcd screen to install the protector and I realized that there is a dust inside of the LCD screen. I didn't even use the camera more than to see if it functions right. It's totally visible.
I was wondering if anyone had this problem with their brand new camera ?!?!
I know there is an option to exchange the camera since it's in the return/exchange period but I really don't have time for this. I have photo shoots coming up and I really can't be without my camera more than couple of days. Unfortunately they don't have the kit in any of Bestbuy location in Los Angeles area that I can go in and exchange.  They will ask me to return the camera kit to a Bestbuy location and wait for them to credit my Bestbuy card (which will take 3-4 days - and i don't have enough credit limit to buy another one right away and be patient for them to give me my money back ) and replace an order online again.
    Any advice appreciated...
    Thanks

First of all. Thank you for your reply. I actually realized couple of other things that made me suspicios that this camera was used before. Of course i might be wrong however - the package shipped from Bestbuy Return center + loose diopter adjuster knob before than even touching it + having dust inside the lcd screen + hair and dust inside the lens - made me really uncomfortable keeping this camera.
Don't get me wrong, I love Best Buy. I've been shopping from Best Buy for years. I have been purchasing many things every year and I really do trust them.  That's the reason why i didn't mind to have Greek Squad 3 years extended waranty package with my purchase. However spending almost $3500 for a top of the line camera and not having it flawless from the first day made me a little disappointed. That's all..
I will be going to Best Buy later today and return the camera. I am just hoping that they can refund the money to my card in couple of days so i can place an order for a new one. Even better if i can return the camera and they can place an order from the store for me..
Thank you so much for your reply again...

  • Dust speckles under the LCD monitor screen

    Hi,
I have a Canon Rebel T3i and have had it for a year and a half.I love it. However, lately I've noticed several speckles of dust under the LCD monitor screen. it's not affecting my pictures but is kind of distracting when i'm looking at the pictures on the monitor. Anyone else familiar with this problem or know what I can do about this?
    Mary

"... picture and is only on the display ..."
Boy you have throughly confused this ol'boy.  What exactly is the dislay?  Are you talking in the view finder?  Are you talking the LCD screen on the back of the camera?
It is easy to get dust in the view finder but, I think, impossibile to get dust under the LCD display.
If you are talking the view finder, get a Rocket Blower.  The rest are junk.

  • Macbook Pro 13 (mid-2009) dust behind glass

    Hi there,
I bought my MBP 13 just 2 weeks ago and while cleaning the glass panel today I discovered dust behind the glass. So there is dust between glass and LCD.
Is this normal? Should I be worried? Should I return my MBP? I mean if it is a common problem I might keep it...
    Best wishes.

No I did not personally upgrade the componments. I bought the standard 2.26 13" model with the extra ram and HD space, as a student I got it at a fair price. So it was already assembled when it got to me.

  • Dust under the glass screen

Hi, I have had my iPhone 4 since Friday 18th February, yesterday the screen protector that the phone came with peeled off so i took it off and wiped it with a microfibre cloth. When I was looking at the screen I noticed a white speck under the screen when the screen was off. I then turned it on and viewed it and the speck is black. could this be dust or a dead pixel? I would like to get it replaced but I have no local apple store only a Solutions Inc premium apple reseller. Also I had ordered the phone from the online uk apple store.

The iPhone 3G & 3GS can have dust get under the screen, as the LCD screen is screwed to a frame and then that frame has the glass and digitizer glued to it. There is a small amount of space between the screen and the glass so dust can work its way in there. If the iPhone 3G/3GS is under warranty you can call Apple to see if they can either clean it or replace the screen. If the iPhone 3G/3GS is out of warranty you can still call them but there is less of a chance it will be covered.
For the iPhone 4 & original iPhone, the LCD screen is fused to the digitizer/glass assembly. This way dust can not get in there, but at the same time you are unable to replace just the glass if there is damage to the glass, which makes for a more expensive repair. If there is dust some how between the LCD and glass (which are glued together) then contact apple as the iPhone 4 is still under warranty. But if there is dust there it would have had to of been there since the iPHone 4 was new.
And no the iOS4.3 update would not add dust...

  • Which cleaning product to clean behind the glossy panel?

Hello. I have the gradient issue again but this time I can't get the inside of the screen clean. The yellow/grayish tint on the left side of the screen certainly is dirt becuase if I turn off the iMac and shine a light on the screen, I see white dust/dirt at the exact same place as the yellow/gray tint. The 3 fans of the iMac blow dirt/dust behind the screen. This is a major design flaw. But I can live with it 'cause I know how to fix it, but now the dirt won't come off! Any idea's?
What kind of matierial/product should I use to clean behind the glossy panel? Can I clean the actual screen too? Or is it better to leave that alone?

I use iClean which comes with an anti-static cloth. Works wonders on displays, mice, and keyboards available here:

  • Dust behind display

I noticed a couple specs of dust behind the display. Any body else have this issue?

Yes, my 1st iPhone had a spec of dust right in the middle of the screen which bothered me when I was reading iBooks, etc.
My replacement also has a spec of dust, although VERY tiny and like 99% unnoticeable and it's at the very bottom edge of the phone. I'm keeping this one because I'm afraid of getting another one that has worst specs of dust.
Where are yours? Do they affect your every day use of the phone?
