Some files become 0 KB when a get latest is done from RoboSource

Hi,
Now whenever I do a get latest from RoboSource, some or all of the files become 0KB both in local and in the server. History of the all these files are also lost.
What could be the problem?
I have placed my online help in RoboSource Control Server that came with RH 7.
I have recently upgraded client from RH7 to RH8. I am using the Source Control Explorer that has come with RH8 but using the Source Control Server that has come with RH7.
Is this a compatibility issue?

Hi Saj and Peter. The word "server" may be confusing the issue here. If I'm not mistaken, Saj is not using RoboHelp Server. Rather, it's RoboSource Control "Server". If that's the case, there was no change in the version of RoboSource Control between RH 7 and RH 8.
Both are RoboSource Control 3.1 so there should be no compatibility problem there.
However, I wonder if there is an issue of how Saj initially upgraded the RH 7 project that was in RSC in RH 8 so that all the project files become compatible with the new RH 8 file formats? Did he open the entire project, so that it could be converted at once, or was it piecemeal? Also, Saj, have you made sure to install all the latest critical updates (8.0.1 and 8.0.2)?

I only rarely use RSC, so rather than my speculating, perhaps Peter could move this post to the Source Control sub-Forum and let folks like Gravenstein, Elisa, MergeThis, take a look at it and offer some suggestions for best practices when upgrading from RH 7 to RH 8 when using RSC.
Meanwhile, I found this post by Amebr which speaks (somewhat) to the issue of upgrading which you may find useful.

Sounds like you may have deleted something you shouldn't have. Boot to an OS X DVD or a bootable backup, and using Disk Utility, do a repair disk, and while there repair permissions. Disconnect any peripherals, and reboot. If you get the same startup behavior, do a safe boot, by holding the shift key down when booting. If that works, try a normal boot. If neither step helps, you may need to relaod your operating system.

Picture messages without a texting plan are 25 cents each. Better than the $1.99 or $2.99 from the online store....
Attaching to an email would not work as mobile email does "do" attachments.
Sending to your online album will use text messages, I believe. Better to use a micro SD card, save to the card, and transfer them to your computer that way.

One fundamental question: When users gets ceated in IDM from trusted recon

I have a very basic question which I am not able to understand.
When user accounts gets created in IDM from trusted recon, then the trusted recon resource object is not displayed in resource profile page of the user account. If we want to see whether the user account was created through trusted source or by manually by admin, then where can we see that?
This information is stored anywhere in IDM DB which will distinguish user accounts created through trusted recon and those created manually in IDM?
Please let me know if you are not able to understand my question.

You may be able to use the USR_CREATEBY field in the database. For an admin created user this should contain the USR_KEY value of the admin who created the user. I think for a reconciliation created user it may contain the USR_KEY of the OIMINTERNAL user.

Cannot access some files on my webserver when conn...

Hi,
I have a lightweight computer connected to my Business Hub router, running an Apache web server for light use. The router is set up to portforward port 80 to this machine.
Now, using any device I own, if I connect (wirelessly or otherwise) to this same router, open a browser, type in my router's public IP, and browse around, I see my website, but many files consistently will NOT download (mostly images and unusual file types like .tar.gz and .db).
If I, or anyone else, uses a different Internet connection (any connection other than the BT broadband service that my router is connected to), opens a browser, types in my router's public IP, and browses around, they see the website and can download any and all files, including images, and archives, and databases, and absolutely everything else.
Additionally, when I'm connected to my Business Hub router, and I type in the web server's local IP (a.k.a. 192.168.1.xxx), I can download all files fine through the local network. I can't download all these files, as said, by connecting to my own global IP.
This is very strange. I've asked around on other forums and gotten no response. What's the deal?
EDIT: I'd also like to mention that this issue has existed for months (since I set up the web server, in fact), and it affects all operating systems and all devices (I've tested on iOS, Windows Vista, Windows 7, several Linux distributions, and from the machine running the server itself).

Write (char)147 to output file become (char)63 when read.

I was doing an encryption for my assignment. And here I found a problem.
               FileWriter fstream = new FileWriter("output.out");
               BufferedWriter dos = new BufferedWriter(fstream);
dos.write((char)147);
dos.close(); fstream.close();
When I tried to read the output.out file using this function:
               File inputFile = new File(filename);
               FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(inputFile);
               BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(fis);
               BufferedReader dis = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(bis));
char test = dis.read();
dis.close(); bis.close(); fis.close();
It shows that the test character is representing (char)63 (question mark). Any idea on how to solve this? I want to write (char)147 to the file and read it as (char)147, not as (char)63.

I need to periodically synchronize the name of the room members with members of a group of a 3rd party application, i.e. each time a user gets added to a room i need to add the same user id to a special group in a 3rd party application (in my case a user group in the bug tracker application JIRA)
Does anyone know if and how i can get a notification e.g. within a KM service if someone is added to or removed from a group? I can imagine there exists an API how to get the members but this would require me to poll KM to get the room members and i'm pretty sure this won't work well with 10000 rooms

For notification you need to configure "mail Transport"
Go to
System administation -> system configuration -> collaboration -> transport - > mail transport.
Here you maintain the SMTP server IP address.
then members will get notification about room.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied & renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

While importing and burning some CDs, my entire library has disappeared. Also, there no longer is a "burn file to disc" command in the File menu. I have downloaded the latest version of itunes which restored only tracks I bought from the iTunes store.

When I get a date field value using the Oracle thin (type 4) JDBC driver...

....in 'DD-MMM-YY' format from an Oracle 8i database and pass it in to the java.util.Date() constructor, I get a IllegalArgumentException. This error doesn't occur when I use the type 2 driver, so it is apparently a driver-specific thing. It happens on both Win32 and Linux.
Has anyone seen this before? Is there a newer version of the Oracle thin (i.e., type 4) driver than is listed here?

Yup, that original post didn't make much sense, did it? Let's try again.
I've got an EJB app that runs on WebLogic 6.0 (on Solaris in production, on Win2K for development) and accesses an Oracle 8i database. This app currently uses the Oracle type 2 JDBC drivers. All is well.
So I wanted to see how it would run on Linux. I've got a Redhat 7.1 box handy, so I installed the JDK and WL6.0 and slapped the ear file on there. Problem! Can't deploy because there are no Oracle drivers on this machine!
Makes sense. So I started looking around, and it seems installing Oracle on a RH 7.1 box involves patching glibc and other such nastiness. So let's just try the type 4 JDBC driver - no glibc patch, no shared object libraries, just good 'ol pure Java talking to Oracle on port 1521.
Once I had the URLs and whatnot set up, the app connected to the DB just fine, created the connection pool, read some data, etc. But when my app read a date from the DB and instantiates a new java.util.Date object, I got an IllegalArgumentException - i.e., the date can't be parsed.
"Hmm... that's odd", I thought, so back I went to my trusty Win2K machine, modified my configuration files to use the type 4 driver and - same error! So I switched back to the type 2 driver - and everything works fine, Dates and all. Hmmm.....
As you correctly state, that Date constructor is deprecated and I should use DateFormats and GregorianCalendars and whatnot instead.
But has anyone seen this weird behavior before - code that works fine on a type 2 driver starts throwing exceptions when used with a type 4 driver? Anyone have any solutions?

My excel files become mime-attachments when I send them. My clients cannot open those mime-attachments. What happened? I used to be able to send excel files without any problem. Do I have a virus?

If you use CloudConfigurationManager.GetSetting, please consider set azure project as the startup project, if not, this value will be null, this resulted in solution being started as a web project that didn't run inside the Azure emulator. Since CloudConfigurationManager.GetSetting
tries to get setting by contacting Azure (or Azure emulator in this case), and it is not running, it returns null.

Group policies are set correctly on server, but failing to arrive at some servers in the OU, when others do.

I have a Windows 2008 R2 single domain forest. I have a problem deploying settings to devices in the forest, where only 29 devices of 500 are picking up new WSUS settings. We frequently have problems getting new settings to certain devices.
For example, I have four Exchange servers in an OU with identical GPO settings configured through GPMC and two of them receive their new GPO settings and two don't. The servers are in two different datacentres, but the two that report are
in different ones and the ones that don't report are right next to them in the same VLAN. Running GPUPDATE /FORCE doesn't have any effect. Sometimes rebooting the server will effect the change but it then reverts to the old settings within a few hours.
Similarly we have PC VLANs that aren't picking any settings either, despite being rebooted regularly.
Any ideas would be very helpful?

Based on your description, please run command gpresult/h report.html on the troubled machines to collect group policy to check this. Note, to collect computer part settings, we need to run the command with admin privileges.
Alternative, we can use Group Policy Result Wizard in GPMC on domain controllers to remotely collect group policy result report:
1. On domain controller, click Start -> Run, type GPMC.MSC, it will load the GPMC console.
2. Right click on "Group Policy Result" and choose wizard to generate a report for the problematic computer and user account (please place appropriately). (Choose computer and select
the proper user in the wizard)
3. Right click the resulting group policy result and click the "Save Report…" => save report to save the report to a HTML file.
If necessary, when you get the report, you may upload it to the Skydrive and provide the download link for us to troubleshoot
the issue.
