Some filters doesn't seem to work right after a fresh install

Hi,
I just begin learning Motion and I am having some problem when following the Apple Pro Training Series book.
Certain filters don't seem to work properly, I cannot add these filters by using the "Add Filter" method, they don't even have a preview image when I click on them in the library.
I first thought there might be something wrong with my computer, so I re-install the entire OS, but after I installed motion, same problem still persist.
anyone have an idea on what's causing this problem?

Sorry I didn't post a complete list at my first post, when I first encountered this problem, I thought there are only several filters that's not behaving properly, but after checking out each and everyone of them now. I began to think there's something wrong during the installation of Motion.
I'll try to re-install it again, and check on the installer log.

Some websites like the one of my college uses JavaScripts and they seem to load correctly to a certain point but then not really. For example in one it would say select an option from the left menu. And I do it hut nothing happens. But when I go to the same website in another browser on my phone. The JavaScript works completely and allows me to see whatever I was clickig on that menu. I have seen that there are other websites being affected too. I tried clearing my cookies and data. even restarted my phone. And doesn't seem to work. I don't know how change the configuration any more to make it work like normal. At first I thought it was my school's website but it never got fixed. And now I realized is my safari browser! I wanna keep using it since I am really familiar with It. If someone knows how to fix this please let me know!

You can reset the SMC and see if that helps. If it's a unibody or Retina, follow the method for "a battery you should not remove yourself."

X-Fi DD-DTS doesn't seem to work right playing DVD Movies with VLC Player or anything els

I have an X-Fi Platinum with the bay and When I try to Play a DVD with VLC Player And choose a/52 over s/pdif it sounds HORRID skipping and pausing and not functioning at all.. I must choose 5. channel to have Listenable Audio. The Same goes for AC3 Encoded Files If I chose A/52 over S/PDIF in VLC player it sounds like **bleep** and doesn't seem to decode it right. I must chose stereo 2 channel to listen to AC3 encoded video's.. NOTE The dolby Digital symbol DOES appear when i chose A/52 over S/PDIF so it does know it's a digital signal.. And I have the software set to USE hardware decoder and S/PDIF in Decode selected. NOW Here's something that REALLY makes me wonder wtf is wrong, I can connect my Home DVD Player or Cable Box over the Optical?in OR the S/PDIF in and the SOB works Fine, The Dolby Digital symbol comes up and everything sounds great! I get Dolby Digital surround no problem..Why in the heck does it not want to play DVD's using the A/52 over S/PDIF or any AC3 Encoded Files?What's the deal?And I am using windows XP Pro SP2 yadda yadda yadda?Message Edited by mbrown0420 on 07-25-20070:58 PM

Contains method on an ArrayList doesn't seem to work right for me

I am having a problem using the 'contains' method on an array list which I know seems such a simple thing! I have created a series of simple classes that simulate what I am trying to achieve in a more complex environment. Essentially I have an abstract class (Test1) then a class (Test2) that extends Test1. I've got a public static final String variable in Test2 that overrides one of the same name in Test2. I've overridden the 'equals' method in Test1 to compare the static final String to see if it's the same (using String.equals method). If I create 2 objects in the following way:
Test1 obj1 = new Test2();
Test1 obj2 = new Test2();If I call obj1.equals(obj2) I get true. If I put obj1 into a list, then call list.contains(obj2) I get false.
According to the javadoc for the Collections contains method it says 'More formally, returns true if and only if this collection contains at least one element e such that (o==null ? e==null : o.equals(e)).'
So.... I was expecting that as obj1.equals(obj2) returns true then the contains method would also return true.
Can anyone tell me what I've missed?
I can provide the simple test classes I wrote if anyone wants them.

The OP says he's overridden equals(), and if he hadn't he wouldn't get the 'true' he gets.
@OP: I think you've fallen foul of the symmetry rules for the equals() method. I'm guessing this because you've said that one class extends the other.
You said that obj1.equals(obj2) returns true. What happens if you do obj2.equals(obj1)? I bet you get false.
This is exactly the reason why you shouldn't use getClass() in an equals() method, and should always use the instanceof operator. Basically, you've made your equals() work one way and not the other.
You should also remember to override hashCode() if you haven't already.

Few days ago I upgraded my Macbook Pro to 10.9.4 Mavericks And I’m using the sound card from the Virus Ti for all audio in/out and when I’m not producing music , I usually close my Logic and I use the Virus Ti as a sound card for listening to Soundcloud or iTunes on my Mac and the audio usually come out of my studio monitors , but right now even when everything is connected , the sounds from the web site is coming out from my Macbook speaker instead of my studio monitors ? and I already checked the “Output/Input” in preference and is already say Access Virus Ti and I already repair disc too ! ,
Right now when I’m using Logic to produced with Virus sound card everything is working fine and the audio is coming out of my monitors but as soon as I turn off Logic to use Youtube or other web site, the audio automatic switch back to laptop speakers ?
If anyone had this problems with their audio interface and OS 10.9.4 , please advise !

Hi I'm running Addressbook and cannot clear previous entry easily when searching my data base of around 5,000 contacts.
I prefer to view in All contacts on a double page spread with details on the right page. Searching doesn't seem to work correctly in this view.
It's always the second search that is problematic.
I've tried typing over and all it seems to do is confine the search to the the entries that have come up for the previous search.
I've tried to use the x to clear the previous entry and then type the next search, same problem. The only way seems to be to move from "All Contacts" to "Groups". Then the searched name appears and I can return to All Contacts to see full details.
Surely three key press' are not the way it's supposed to work?

Email Security Plug-in - Doesn't seem to work with right click or save and send

I've searched the knowledge base but have not located the answer yet.
We have the Encrypt Message plug-in installed to flag the email [SEND SECURE]. This works very well when in Outlook. It does not seem to work when right clicking a file to send outside of Outlook or performing Save and Send from within Microsoft Office. The add-in still shows and users are clicking it and the Send button but the emails are not going securely. We are on Microsoft2010 on mostly XP machines.
How can I get Encrypt Message to work in all instances?

Port forwarding to Apex doesn't seem to work

We have an Oracle 11.1.0.7 database running on Linux in which I've upgraded Apex to 3.2
I'm using the embedded gateway/listener (no Apache).
Now I want to make this Apex instance available over the Internet so that a developer can work remotely. However this doesn't seem to work.
Check the listener log file I see the following lines:

No, this is from internal LAN connections. I haven't been able to detect anything in the log files when attempting to connect from the internet.
I'll increase the logging level & post some findings on this later (I'm at a client site right now).

Port mapping doesn't seem to work - AEBS

I have a dsl connection to an Alcatel SpeedTouch 530 modem, linked via ethernet cable to the WAN of my AEBS, which shares the connection to three Macs and 2 Win boxes. I want to connect to aMule and get a High-ID. In the wiki.amule.org FAQ it states that to achieve this, I must use port mapping behind a firewall, and map ports 4662 (TCP) and 4665 (UDP) to my machine (which, after reading http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=607426&#607426, I have assigned to AirPort TCP/IP address 10.0.1.201, by the way).
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work, and I'm still getting the annoying 'low-ID' warnings on aMule.
Following some advice on the aMule forum, I mapped port 80 and verified that the WebServer is accessible inside the wLan, if that's of any help.

1. If I go ahead and un-check the 'Distribute IP
addresses' box, how will the three Macs and two Win
computers on this wlan be affected? Do we still have
access to each other's shares, and do we still access
the internet through the AEBS?
Once you turn off the 'distribute the IP address box' then your alcatel router will then distribute ip adresses and your macs and wintel boxes will still be on the same network and using the sharepoints will remain the same if you setup the shares using the bonjour names.
I am making an assumption here in that your alcatel box is setup as a NAT router and not as a Bridge.
2. Do I just give a static internal IP to my own
powerbook, or to all the above computers?
You only need to give a static ip to the mac your doing the port forwarding to. So that is the mac that is running the p2p software, infact you would do the same for any computer on the LAN that would run a server, such as a webserver, email server etc.

PS I had the impression that the basic idea of what I
need to do to successfully map the ports to my Mac
was to map ports from the DSL modem to the AEBS, then
from AEBS to my Mac. Is this not right? Or is this
another kind of solution to the same problem, albeit
slightly more complicated to your suggestion above?
If the alcatel modem was just behaving as a modem then you would use the AEBS as the NAT device and do the port mapping on that. However the Alcatel modem is also a router.
If you setup up your alcatel router as a bridge you would then use the AEBS as your PPPoE client and then port mapping would work.

If you get the error "Backup not successful" and you've tried deleting the last backup and trying to back up manually without luck, try the following test: Go to...
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>manage Storage, tap your device name in the Backups section, then look under Backup options. Turn off all apps from backup and then do a manual backup. If that doesn't work, then this post will not help. If the backup works, then go back to the app list and turn some on and try another backup. If successful, keep repeating these steps. If it fails at some point, then try to zero in on the one app that seems to make the backup fail. (I had this problem and found one app failing, probably due to a corrupt data file.)
This process will take time, but if a backup works with no app data being used but clearly fails with the original settings, then somewhere in the mix of apps is a "bad" one.

Hard Drive: The Hard Drive is on my camera (Sony Handycam)
Just needed some info on what is going on with your particular system.
Knowing the exact camera model will also assist us.
If this camera is standard AVCHD you should be able to connect with USB to Mac with FCE open and use Log and Transfer without all the fiddling around converting etc.
What FCE does during ingest is convert files to AIC. (Apple Intermediate Codec)
FCE cannot read the individual files in the BDMV folder, that's why all the converting is required when you use that method.
BTW: regards formatting drives/cards/memory on cameras; it is wise to use the actual device to format rather than a computer. This is a prime cause of read/write goof ups with solid state media. This applies to still or video cameras.
Keeping the COMPLETE card/memory structure in tact is vital for successful transfers.

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
