Some help required - confused wiht which calendars are which

i have calendars in 'on my mac' and the same calendars in '[email protected]' in ical on my macbook. these are duplicating and i dont recall them doing so until recently (last few months). which ones set of cals are my masters? why should i need to have both sets in my ical.
i am syncing with iphone, ipad and imac through mobile me. so i just want a reliable method to sync and edit through mobile me on each device without displaying or creating repeat entries.

On my iPad it's from my Mac and MobileMe
On my iPhone it's only MobileMe
I have done a sync and a back up, I get reminders twice everywhere!
I can't work out how to use only MobileMe???

Hi, I need some help understanding the way materialized views are applied through adpatch.
In patch 1, we have a mv with build mode immediate. When applying it PTS hang due to pool performance of mv refresh.
So we provide patch 2, with that mv build mode deferred, hoping it'll go through. But patch 2 hang too on the same mv.
How does this work? Is that because mv already exists in the database with build immediate, patch 2 will force it to refresh first before changing build mode? How to get over this?

This happens at customer environment but not reproducable in our internal environment, as our testing data is much smaller.
Taking closer look in the logs, I saw actually when applying both patch 1 and patch 2, MV doesn't exist in the database. So seems my previous assumption is wrong. Still, strange that patch 2 contains only one file which is the MV.xdf, it took 7 hours and finally got killed.

Which pins are which?

I'm using the parts of a spare usb cable and a couple of pieces so that I can plug into the bottom and get the line-out feed.
The problem isn't how to do it, but which pins are which. I've found diagrams that say it's the same for all ipods, but it's hard confirming. A multi-meter barely registers anything because even if you try to measure any AC current, line level is so low that it's hard to pick up much.
I connected pins to the line out displayed in the diagram, and I've tested the continuity to ensure that the signal goes from one end to the other, but nothing audible comes through.

How are you testing it?
Line level is only ~1 volt so you need headphones or and amp. If you are plugging it into a speaker, you won’t hear much, if anything.

Image - maps are not working in Firefox but it does work in IE. Some help required.

Last week i've been building a website for our company. However, there is still a problem with our banner/slider. I've uploaded some images and the slider is currently working. But the image maps ,using <map> & <area> taggs, are not functional in FF. They do work in IE so I suppose it should be working correctly.
I've tried using Chrome & Safari but the problem keeps persisting.

Some help required with logic for a dynamic sql query

i have below code but not sure how to resolve this problem - what i need is to be able to dynamically

i have a rabbge of paratmeters coming in from a form and need to be able to create a dynamic query string to go into a prepared statement object.
the problem i have is there are 2 fields year range and year.
if year range is none i need to create the query string as such :

i have a year being entered in form . in the database there is a column year volume which contains year in single year value format and also in a year range value format - thus as in below - how could i do this -

user can enter a value in the year field a single value or a range value - then he can select +/-5 or 10 yrs range on that value - the DB holds the values as single values and ranges as below -
one suggested apporach is as follows if a single user is alloweed to enter only a single value in the filed and select a query range +/- 5 etc..

Some help required with Clipping Masks

Hi,
I'm quite new to illustrator - I've made designs before but really just playing at it.
Now, though, I have a design which I had "grunged" up by applying a texture and knocking out the sections of the design with it in Photoshop. However, I want to learn how to do that in illustrator and thought that clipping mask was the answer.
I can get the clipping mask to work except it creates the opposite effect I am after...It masks the portions of the image I want to keep visible leaving those areas I want masked visible.
In effect I need to inverse the mask but I don't know how to do it in illustrator.
Hopefully, I've made it clear what I mean and I appriciate any advice.

You can use the Transparency panel to make an opacity bask as well and inverse that.
Or if you wish use the pathfinder panel to minus front. I think the second icon on top from the left.
Read the help files about opacity masks, pathfinder and clipping mask
and it might also work as a compound path Command 8 or Control 8.

Some help required - creating an election simulator

Hey there, i've only been coding java for the past month or so, and I've been going fine apart from this program i'm attempting to code (badly, I admit);
To sum it up:
*The program asks the user how many people are in a country.
*The program asks the user how many electorates there are.
*The program asks the user how many political parties are up for election.
After these inputs, the program does the following; (or in my mind, should)
*Program randomly assigns population to electorates
*Program randomly goes through each electorate asking if a population member will run for a political party. Only 1 person per party in an electorate.
*Program goes to a vote - population in each electorate votes randomly for running candidates.
Usually with some associated output each step.
I'm trying to use inheritance, and supposed to use polymorphism (of which i'm not sure what that is).

I was messing with multi-dimensional arrays for a while, but i've since concluded these refuse to work in methods for me (i can never seem to return them to the main, so now i've been trying to use 1 dimensional arrays
I've tried a couple of times to make more methods that send my electorates array to a vote method (but admittedly i'm used to python and coding on java is like pulling finger nails for me) but i don't get very far.

Some help required for my Zen

My Zen (Sleek Photo) is constantly crashing, so a black screen. When it happens, none of the buttons are responsi've and I can only turn it off by pressing the reset button. After resetting, the same thing will happen again and again. Occasionally it will take 2 seconds to crash and it has taken up to 2 minutes, when I was hopeful that it had sorted itself out.

To make a correction, it's not a Sleek Photo. It's a 6gb Zen, sorry.
I managed to clean up, reboot and reinstall my firmwire but I'm still having the same problem. I can't get it to work consistently at all. If I charge it for 5 hours, I may get 2 minutes of playback, but then it's will crash again. I don't know what to do, honestly. I've tried the MP3 recover tool and that had no effect.

How to choose which calendars are in notification center?

I have just installed Mountain Lion, and am finding that notification center will notify me when someone adds an event on an iCloud calendar that has been privately shared with me. I would rather just receive notifications about my own calendars (and just look in iCal when I want to see the shared calendar). Is there a way to set a preference on this?

Lightroom 3 not sure which pictures are which in Library view/slideshow?

Well I've been trying out LR3 for the past week or so and have a nagging problem. Say I had an import yesterday from a birthday party, and one today from a football game. I'll import the football game pictures and then be in library mode, with the view showing all pictures. Down with all of the football pictures, every once in a while, randomly, some of the football thumbnails will switch to show birthday party pictures. And the same thing happens in slideshow mode...you'll be cruising along with football pictures, and out of the blue one will "flip" or switch to a birthday picture. This is driving me nuts and makes it difficult when you're all ready to work on a picture, when all of a sudden it flips over to a picture from another day. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I can't but I have seen this in Develop when using Crop. The image flip to something from a different location and back. Bizarre.

Urgent help required: Query regarding LC Variables

Hi All
Sometime earlier I was working on a performance issue raised by a customer. It was shell script that was taking almost 8-9 hrs to complete. During my research I came across a fact that there were some variables which were not set, the LC variables were impacting the sort funnel operations because of which the script was taking a long time to execute.
I asked them to export the following commands, after which the program went on smoothly and finished in a couple of mins:

export LC_MESSAGES=C
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO8859-1
export HZ=100
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO8859-1

Later I did recover that setting the LC_COLLATE to C, is not helping and the program was again taking a lot of time. Few questions that I want to ask are:
1. Can someone please tell me, what each of these variable mean and how these values make a difference.
2. When I exported LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO8859-1, it worked fine, but when i tried with the defalut value LC_COLLATE=C, then why the program didnt work.
As this issue is still going on, hence I would request All to provide their valuable inputs and let me know as much as possible.

A new development in this regard. The customer has send us a screen shot in which they were trying to export the locale variable using the commands which I have pasted above. I can see in the screen shot that while exporting LC_COLLATE and LC_TYPE, they get a message that ""ksh: export: couldn't set locale correctly"".
Request everyone to please give their inputs as it's a bit urgent.

LC_MONETARY
Specifies monetary formats, including the currency symbol for the locale, thousands separator, sign position, the number of fractional digits, and so forth.
LC_NUMERIC

LC_COLLATE
Specifies a collation order and regular expression definition for the locale.
LC_MESSAGES
Specifies the language in which the localized messages are written, and affirmative and negative responses of the locale (yes and no strings and expressions).
You can use command
# locale -k LC_CTYPE
to see more detail about each type.

Please help someone confused

I've been having problems with my Internet Explorer everytime I click on a link that tries to open a new window. What happens is that a new window does open up but never loads. I have to press the stop button on the new browser window then refresh for the window to load. Also, sometimes despite stopping and refreshing, it doesn't work and all I can see in the address window is a javascript address. I also have the same problem when trying to open windows media player within a browser. My computer just crashes. I used to be able to use netscape too but now it just gives an error message upon opening. I don't know if unstalling Opera and installing and uninstalling versions of Winamp has anything to do with it. Also, I downloaded Java Web Start because i thought it would be a plug-in to help me open javascript windows, but it doesn't work still. I will appreciate any form of help and advice! Also, sorry for writing here and please direct me to a different place if you think that is more appropriate. Thanks so much.

mas2388I habitually burn my toast in the mornings, I believe that I have a congenital inability to patiently wait for the toast and constantly peer under the grill without getting distracted by something or other. Usually this is driven by the necessaity to prepare industrial strength coffee, but it could just as easily be a task of domesticity, such as wiping the bench or relieving the stainless steel sink of coffee stains. It seems such a waste when I then pick up the smell of burning toast moments later and I have to scrape the darkened hydrocarbon-based charcoal waste all over the newly cleaned sink and spatter the work-surface with an untidy collection of darkened crumbs.
To some such things may be trivial, but to me its a metaphor of the futility of life in the vortex of Camusian world.

Are you trying to log in to ExportPDF from Reader? If so, please make sure that you have the most current version by choosing Help > Check for Updates in Reader. You should be using version 11.0.07 (Mac OS) or 11.0.08 (Windows)--earlier versions caused this sign-in error that you're seeing.

Connecting to home theatre - which plugs are wh

Hello all,
I just got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value for my computer which is connected to an amp with 5. surround speakers. I'm probably going to plug the sound card to the amp via the individual mini rca plugs, but i need to know which plugs are which. ie, which colour is front left and front right, which is surround left and surround right, and which is centre and subwoofer.
I would do it through trial and error but I haven't dealt with subwoofers much before and i'm afraid that connecting it wrong might damage the speakers, ie plugging a speaker into the subwoofer plug, or vica versa.

Thanks very much for the help guys. I received the sound card today and plugged it in and it seems to be working.... almost.
I've connected it by converting the 3 mini rca plugs into 6 rca plugs (the red and white ones), which are plugged into my amplifier. The amp has 5. speakers attached to it.
There's one problem. When I calibrate the speakers, the fi've normal speakers work fine, but when it moves onto the subwoofer it starts coming out of the sub for a second or two, then moves to the rear left speaker for a couple more seconds, then to the rear right speaker, then makes a few clicking noises and keeps changing between the two rear speakers. Why is this?
I know that the cause of the problem is the sound card, because I unplugged the plug which sends the subwoofer signal from the sound card to the amp, and exactly the same thing happened except that the first few second where originally the subwoofer made a noise, it was silent. After that though, it still went to the rear left speaker, then the rear right speaker, doing all sort of crazy stuff.
